Self-taught rocket scientist plans to launch over ghost town. OK not political but we thought it was interesting. Mad Mike Hughes is certainly not Howard Hughes. Here’s a link to his YouTube Channel if you want to watch this Saturday.

I just sent him a message on FB asking if he needs any help with documenting the launch on Tuesday. Five video cameras and a drone.

Glorious proof the earth is round. If you have a 4K TV and a connection with the bandwidth needed, set it on 1440p60 and enjoy. I have 12 Mbps download and get occasional pauses.

After much punning around, I actually read the article. This knucklehead spent 20K building a rocket so he can get high enough to take a picture of earth’s horizon to prove it is flat. I’d suggest he spend $500 on a one way ticket to Beijing in a window seat. They take the polar route and you actually see the curvature of the earth along the way. Or he could send me 20K and I’ll email him my pics of the same subject.

These flat earthers, I wonder how they explain a sailboat that disappears over the horizon.

The sailors are in on the conspiracy, shortening the mast as they go.

No, this rocket isn’t supposed to get him this high. This is just a step along the way to the multi-million dollar rocket he plans to take to 62,000 feet to take the photo proving the earth is flat. It’s worse than you thought.

Gush, I can’t believe nobody wants in on this.

Do we have enough space for a rocket pun thread?

MGAP

All I axis this one webpage. Should be enough space, no?

JPTravis

I just wish we were punning in a meteor topic.

MGAP

We could change topics, but everyone would perseid our rocketry puns skills as weak.

Everyone nose at some stage it’s hard to fin for puns.

MGAP

Telemetry about it…

JPTravis

What really bugs me is when more than one pun thread is active and I have to shuttle between them.

MGAP

It’ll booster your overall pun prowess tho…

JPTravis

Shame on you. Nothing Mars a pun thread more than a pun that ends with an ellipsis.

MGAP
Member

Hey, I can’t fault a guy for spelling or punctuation in a pun thread. Nadir should you…

JPTravis

Your ellipsis was foul and I think most people agree. In fact, let’s take A poll… o, never mind.

MGAP
Member

That’s just lunarcy calling foul on my ellipsis. And collins for a poll? I think you’ve lost your mind atlas.

JPTravis

Atlas. I like it. At this stage, that’s pretty good.

I Endeavor to please.

You don’t scare me, I’m sphereless.

Some altitudes here have taken a saturnine descent

And I think we have attained maximum velocity on this pun threat. I’ll just orbit the page for a while…

sifi

I’m often on a different trajectory but watchful for a window of re-entry.

JPTravis

You’ll “orbit the page for a while”? Seriously? You need to show more Enterprise than that.

sifi
Member

Enterprise to explore strange new words, to seek out new meanings through new puns, to boldly go where no thread has gone before.

MGAP
Member

Puns are a challenger. A worthy enterprise for my aging mind in an attempt to keep the synapses shuttling to and fro.

JPTravis

I’m afraid they retired that shuttle.

MGAP

Naw, there’s a cluster that still functions.

JPTravis

I wonder if we Canaveral conversation about real topics…

Quick question: Was it a ghost town before he announced he was going to fly a homemade rocket over it?

StrinaM

Is it a ghost town in California?

I spent eleven days there in August of ’07. It was very difficult.
