North Korea: Bill Clinton welcome, Al Gore not so welcome

The UK Daily Mail’s story of the “rescue” of the two American reporters was a terrific piece of reporting that swept away all the PR spin. It’s packed with fascinating little nuggets.

The UK Daily Mail’s story of the “rescue” of the two American reporters was a terrific piece of reporting that swept away all the PR spin. It’s packed with fascinating little nuggets. For example:

For Bill Clinton, it was an easy mission. In a phone call to her husband a month ago, Laura (Ling) said that if Clinton turned up, she and Euna (Lee) would be granted amnesty.

The Clinton insider said: ‘Obama’s people suggested sending Al Gore, but Kim Jong Il only wanted Bill.

They didn’t want Al Gore. Proof that Americans and North Koreans, people from two very different cultures, have a lot in common.

Quietest start to hurricane season in 32 years

The 2009 hurricane season now qualifies as the quietest hurricane season in 32 years and the fourth quietest in the last 50 years. What happened to Al Gore’s global warming?

hurricane-season
Update: Excitement is running rampant at the Gore compound. We may be getting close to our first storm of the season. According to the National Hurricane Center, that orange #1 off the coast of Africa has a 30-50% chance of becoming a tropical storm during the next 48 hours. Would someone please inform Al Gore.

The suicide alert at Al Gore’s house has gone to Level Red. While the Goracle insisted that global warming would bring us more and more destructive hurricanes, the reality has been considerably different.

We’ve now completed the first ten weeks of 2009’s hurricane season and we’ve not yet had a hurricane. Nor a tropical storm. Nor a tropical depression.

Duh! U.S. forecasters finally get around to predicting mild Atlantic hurricane season

This is the quietest start to hurricane season in nearly two decades. The last time the first storm formed as late as August 5 was way back in 1992.

Ahhhh, this global warming feels great.
Ahhhh, this global warming feels great.

As we’ve been reporting every Monday morning, this is the quietest Atlantic hurricane season in years. So far we haven’t had a single tropical depression, storm nor hurricane.

So three months after issuing its last hurricane prediction, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration finally accepted reality and updated its 2009 forecast. Its new prediction is for a below-normal to near-normal season with seven to 11 named tropical storms. That’s down from a range of nine to 14 in the May forecast.

Global Warming Update
Nine weeks of hurricane season gone. We’ve had zip, zilch, zero. Which also describes Al Gore’s credibility.

Al Gore is a liar. A sad, pathetic liar who’s made a fortune playing Chicken Little on global warming. Nine full weeks into official hurricane season and no hurricanes, not even a tropical storm.

hurricane-center-map-week-nine Al Gore is a liar. A sad, pathetic liar who’s made a fortune playing Chicken Little.

Well, that pretty much sums it up. Nine full weeks into official hurricane season and the weather is determined to reveal the magnitude of Gore’s prevarications. 63 long, calm days deep into hurricane season and we’ve had not a single hurricane. Not a single tropical storm. Not even a single tropical depression.

In the record-setting year of 2005, we had already had eight storms by this date. In the remarkably quiet year of 2006, we’d had three. In the average year of 2007, we’d had three. And in the average year of 2008, we’d had five.

If Al Gore is feeling warmer, it’s only because his pet theory is going down in flames.

Same ol’, same ol’. No tropical depressions, no tropical storms, no hurricanes.

In the record-setting year of 2005, we had already had seven storms by this date. In the remarkably quiet year of 2006, we’d had two. In the average year of 2007, we’d had two. And in the average year of 2008, we’d had four.

The more bored you get with this repetitive report, the more panic stricken Al Gore gets.

Yawn. Wake us up when there’s a hurricane in 2009.

Seven weeks into hurricane season: Where are the missing hurricanes?

Al Gore insisted that global warming would bring more and bigger hurricanes, more death, more distruction. Not in 2009.

hurrricane-forecast Today marks the beginning of the seventh week of the official hurricane season. Still no hurricanes, still no tropical storms, still no tropical depressions. The big news is a little cloudiness east of the Windward Islands (Yellow circle #1 on the chart).

In the record breaking 2005 season, we’d already had six storms. In the quiet 2006 season, we’d already had two. In the average 2007 season, we’d already had two. And in the average 2008 season, the fourth storm began a day from now.

Al Gore insisted that global warming would bring more and bigger hurricanes, more death, more distruction, more dislocation, more of everything bad and none of anything good.

We’re waiting, Al.

Al Gore rewrites history, London Times rewrites Al Gore

Al Gore compared the battle against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis, who are apparently today’s global warming realists.

Al Gore's vision of global warming realists
Al Gore's vision of global warming realists

What is it with newspapers named “The Times?” No mater where they may be located, they seem to do whatever necessary to support liberals. Even the Times of London is now marching in lockstep with the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.

Al Gore was in England last week to issue his latest doom and gloom proclamation. The Times of London first reported his speech this way:

Al Gore today compared the battle against climate change with the struggle against the Nazis.

Nazis? Global warming realists are now like Nazis?

Five hours later, the Times story had magically been rewritten, the comparison of global warming realists to Nazis had been removed, and Gore had been recast to appear much more statesman-like:

Al Gore invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill today by encouraging political leaders to follow the example of Britain’s wartime leader and unite their nations to fight climate change.

Where’d those global warming Nazis go? Probably off to kill a few polar bears.

Global Warming Update: Hurricane season 2009 becoming a huge dud

Bad news for Al Gore and Global Warming alarmists: a light hurricane season had been forecast just a couple months ago. And it’s looking ligher.

hurricane-season-map3

A light hurricane season had been forecast just a couple months ago: “Citing cooler seas and the prospect of a weak El Nino, Colorado State University’s hurricane team lowered its 2009 Atlantic forecast Tuesday to 12 tropical storms, of which six could become hurricanes.”

Even that is now looking too extreme.

Here’s the scorecard a full six weeks into hurricane season 2009:

    Tropical depressions   zero
    Tropical storms          zero
    Hurricanes                 zero
    Major hurricanes        zero

Our forecast: Al Gore and his global warming acolytes will soon begin cranking up the “Yeah, but…” excuse machine.

Five weeks into hurricane season: No hurricanes, no tropical storms, not even a tropical depression

Oops. The Goracle predicted more frequent hurricanes, more powerful hurricanes.

To hear Al Gore tell it, you’d soon be able to boil an egg in the surf off Miami Beach.

Never mind.

We just started the sixth week of the 2009 hurricane season and the Atlantic has had no hurricanes, no tropical storms, not even a depression.

In fact, the only depression spotted so far in 2009 is among those same global warming lunatics.

Al Gore to be sued for fraud by coalition of 30,000 scientists?

Al Gore says the science is settled. Now let’s see if the lawsuit is settled.

John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, has put together a coalition of more than 30,000 scientists who don’t buying Gore’s global warming baloney.

Gore won’t debate the issue because he says “the science is settled.” So Coleman thinks his courtroom ploy may give him a chance to expose Gore’s folly.

Gore won’t debate the issue because he says “the science is settled.” So Coleman thinks his courtroom ploy may give him a chance to expose Gore’s folly.

“We have tried and tried and tried to get a debate on global warming with…Al Gore and any of the scientists behind him over at the UN IPCC,” Coleman said. “We’d love to have a debate with them, but they go ‘Oh, no, the debate is over.’ Well, now there are 30,000 of us. We have 30,000 scientists – 9000 Phds – who have signed up to debunk global warming. And they still won’t listen to us…So we figure maybe a court of law.”

We say bring on the law suit and let Al Gore be judged by a jury of his peers.

The only problem will be finding 12 other pompous, bloated rip-off artists willing to serve on the jury.

Top 10 lines from the Goode Family

“The Goode Family” premiered last night on ABC-TV. It was created by politically-incorrect Mike Judge, who also created King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-head. Most reviews (including our entire staff) agree it was funnier than hell. Here are the top 10 lines we heard.

1. “We can’t shop there. They don’t even have a mission statement.”

2. Ubuntu: “Sorry I used so much gas, dad.”
Dad: “That’s okay. The important thing is you feel guilty about it.”

3. “Don’t say ‘people of color’ because that’s just ‘colored people’ backwards.”

4. “The View is on. The pretty one is saying crazy stuff again.”

5. On a bumper sticker:
“Support our troops. And their opponents.”

6. Bumper sticker on Goode Family hybrid:
“Earth First – Ask Questions Later”

7. “WWAGD? What would Al Gore do?”

8. “Attention One Earth Shoppers. The owner of the SUV is in aisle 4 wearing a ball cap.”

9. “Your mother accidentally bought two-ply (toilet paper). But don’t worry I fixed it.”

10. Goode: “If you want to have proportionately diverse staff, we need three more minority hires.
Jensen: “Why don’t we just fire three white guys. Everybody wins.”

World saved from global warming, Aussie company trumpets “Flatulence Offsets”

No reason to be embarrassed anymore, Fido. You're saving the environment.
No reason to be embarrassed anymore, Fido. You're saving the environment.

An Australian company is selling carbon credits to make up for farting pets and people. (We agonized over that sentence, but it is what it is).

For just $27, Easy Being Green will sell you enough carbon credits to offset your dog’s annual anal methane production. Making your cat carbon neutral is a bargain at just $6.

And if you’re looking for a special anniversary or birthday gift, imagine how happy your loved one will be knowing that you spent US$16 to offset two years worth of their personal trouser trumpet production.

This is all well and good, but as highly-trained environmentalists and marketing geniuses, we think Easy Being Green is missing an obvious business opportunity.

Here’s our idea:

Wind power is intermittent, but dog farts are a constant. We propose erecting a mini-windmill in every Aussie home. Tie each windmill into the power grid. Train all Aussie dogs to fart into the windmills. The windmills spin. Power is generated free of charge. Oil imports are slashed. The economy booms. Australia becomes an ecological role model for the rest of the world.

And to think Al Gore got a Nobel Prize and we didn’t.

The Goode Family: The Animated, Anti-Al Gore Show

This looks like it’s going to be funny. “The Goode Family” premieres on ABC-TV on Wednesday, May 27. It was created by politically-incorrect Mike Judge, who also created King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-head.

The Goode Family is an obsessively, compulsively politically and ecologically correct family. They live their lives the way liberals would have all of us live – reusing their shopping bags, driving hybrid cars, and recycling everything. Of course, they’re vegans, to boot.

Thanks, Mike Judge. Since the rest of the biased liberal media won’t expose the real world eco-wackos, we’re glad you did in animated form.

Beware the “Climate-Industrial Complex”

Al Gore, frontman for the climate-industrial complex
Al Gore, frontman for the climate-industrial complex

President Eisenhower warned of the “military-industrial complex.” Now on the eve of the World Business Summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen, “Skeptical Environmentalist” author Bjorn Lomborg warns of the “climate-industrial complex.”

Lomborg, hardly a conservative, writes, “We are told that very expensive carbon regulations are the only way to respond to global warming, despite ample evidence that this approach does not pass a basic cost-benefit test. We must ask whether a “climate-industrial complex” is emerging, pressing taxpayers to fork over money to please those who stand to gain.”

This global warming…oops…climate change cabal has invited none other than Al “He Played On Our Fears” Gore to be the keynote speaker. How is it that this Oscar/Grammy/Nobel “Peace” Prize-winning crackpot is still taken seriously after being thoroughly debunked for his phony “documentary” and general hysteria? *Sigh*

As Lomborg rightly points out, Gore represents all three groups that stand to benefit. “He is a politician, a campaigner and the chair of a green private-equity firm invested in products that a climate-scared world would buy.”

Coincidentally, all the so-called experts at this Summit hold the same alarmist views of global, er… climate change.

So whatever happened to diversity and tolerance of other viewpoints? It’s nowhere to be found in this forum. As Lomborg notes, “There would be an outcry — and rightfully so — if big oil organized a climate change conference and invited only climate-change deniers. The partnership among self-interested businesses, grandstanding politicians and alarmist campaigners truly is an unholy alliance. Spending a fortune on global carbon regulations will benefit a few, but dearly cost everybody else.”

Obama once said, “The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works…” Our question is, what if it’s too big and still doesn’t work?

Leading climate change scientist says carbon offsets won’t work, “Enjoy life while you can”

James Lovelock says, "The world is doomed, so let's party, dude."
James Lovelock says, "The world is doomed, so let's party, dude."

On one hand, renowned climate expert James Lovelock thinks the global warming will destroy the world. On the other hand, he thinks all the political solutions are a scam.

The Guardian UK reports Lovelock’s heresy:

He dismisses eco ideas briskly, one by one. “Carbon offsetting? I wouldn’t dream of it. It’s just a joke. To pay money to plant trees, to think you’re offsetting the carbon? You’re probably making matters worse. You’re far better off giving to the charity Cool Earth, which gives the money to the native peoples to not take down their forests.”

Do he and his wife try to limit the number of flights they take? “No we don’t. Because we can’t.” And recycling, he adds, is “almost certainly a waste of time and energy”, while having a “green lifestyle” amounts to little more than “ostentatious grand gestures”. He distrusts the notion of ethical consumption. “Because always, in the end, it turns out to be a scam … or if it wasn’t one in the beginning, it becomes one.”

The Guardian continues:

You’re never going to get enough energy from wind to run a society such as ours,” he says. “Windmills! Oh no. No way of doing it. You can cover the whole country with the blasted things, millions of them. Waste of time.”

So given all this, what would Lovelock do now? “Enjoy life while you can. Because if you’re lucky it’s going to be 20 years before it hits the fan.”

A round of applause for James Lovelock for his honesty. Anyone Al Gore disagrees with is alright with us.

Tennessee senate may authorize Al Gore statue

ice_gore According to WSMV.com, “A resolution urging the creation of statues to be built on the Tennessee Capitol grounds of the state’s two Nobel Peace Prize winners, Al Gore and Cordell Hull, is on its way to a full Senate vote.”

This will not be the first time The Goracle has been honored with a statue.

Earlier this winter, during a particularly bitter cold snap, Fairbanks, Alaska businessman Craig Compeau commissioned this lovely 8-1/2 foot tall ice sculpture of the former Vice President and current scam artist.

Congratulations, Mr. Gore.

Democrat congressman admits Cap & Trade is just a great big ol’ tax in disguise

Despite the fact that Cap & Trade would more appropriately be called Smoke & Mirrors, the Obama administration is moving the legislation forward.

Democrat Congressman John Dingell doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like it at all.

“Nobody in this country realizes that cap and trade is a tax,” he said to Al Gore in a congressional hearing. “And a great big one.”

Unfortunately, the camera wasn’t on Al Gore at that moment, so we can only imagine that he immediately put his forefinger to his lips and made one of those “Ssssh” sounds librarians make.

Republican Congressperson accuses Al Gore of making windfall profits on cap-and-trade regulations

Looks like those evil oil companies aren’t the only ones making windfall profits these days.

Republican Congressman Congresswoman Congressperson Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee finally did what we’ve been waiting for – she confronted Al Gore about the vast fortune he expects to make from Cap-and-Trade legislation to supposedly fight climate change.

Gore tap dances. Gore acts shocked. Gore acts insulted. Gore shucks and jives.

Hey, there’s an idea. Maybe they should be honest here and change the name from Cap-and-Trade to Shuck-and-Jive.

Antarctic ice melting at unprecedented rate due to steam coming out of Al Gore's ears.

Al Gore is not going to like the latest Rasmussen Report on global warming. No, he’s not going to like it at all.

A year ago, 47% of likely American voters thought man was the primary cause of global warming. This year just 34% agree while 48% say climate change is the result of long-term planetary trends. 7% blame “something else.” 11% just aren’t sure. It’s the worst repudiation of Gore’s unscientific theory to date.

As you might expect, 51% of knee jerk Democrats agree with Gore that man is to blame. Luckily, 66% of Republicans and 47% independents disagree.

Gore has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on an ad campaign to convince the American people that his global warming hogwash is true, but the public’s not buying it. Kind of like his presidential campaign. Except he actually won that vote.

The former vice president didn’t see this coming. Instead of worrying about glaciers melting down in 100 years, Al Gore should have worried about the economy melting down this year.

Times are tough and the Goracle’s nascent media empire – built around the Current cable TV network – and has cancelled plans for a $100,000,000 public stock offering.

“In light of current market conditions, the registrant has determined not to proceed at this time with the public offering,” Current said in an SEC filing. “All activity regarding the proposed public offering has been discontinued.”

Current Media owns Current TV and youth-oriented website Current.com. Gore’s concept was that viewers would submit content to the network and website.

Poor Al Gore. Who else would be dumb enough to invest in a TV network that does the same thing YouTube does? Seriously, it’s such a dumb idea that it’s hard to believe it came from the same guy who invented the internet.
