We hate the media, but we love Richard Branson’s uncanny ability to manipulate it.
Branson’s Virgin Atlantic airline is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a new TV commercial. It features a sexy, red-suited female cabin crew walking through an otherwise gloomy airport prior to the airline’s inaugural flight in 1984.
Great Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority has received 29 complaints that the ad campaign is sexist and insulting to women. The complaints say the campaign uses sex to sell the airline.
Egad, gadzooks and forsooth! (Do they still say that in England?). Richard Branson using sex to sell? They must be mistaken.
We say, let’s make Richard Branson a citizen and elect him president (Don’t send letters — we know it would be unconstitutional).
Seriously, this is a guy who could say, “Yes we can” and really mean it.
