Al Gore, laughingstock: A look back at his hurricane predictions

by editor on July 5, 2011

Hard to believe, but it was a mere six years ago the Goracle descended from on high to warn mankind that global warming would inevitably lead to more hurricanes and stronger hurricanes.

He foresaw nothing but death and destruction and a little more jingly in his pocket.

al-gore-goracle

Al Gore descended to earth to warn mankind. And to make a few bucks in the process.

CommonDreams.org quotes the Goracle back in 2005:

… the science is extremely clear now, that warmer oceans make the average hurricane stronger, not only makes the winds stronger, but dramatically increases the moisture from the oceans evaporating into the storm – thus magnifying its destructive power – makes the duration, as well as the intensity of the hurricane, stronger.

Last year we had a lot of hurricanes. Last year, Japan set an all-time record for typhoons: ten, the previous record was seven. Last year the science textbooks had to be re-written. They said, “It’s impossible to have a hurricane in the south Atlantic.” We had the first one last year, in Brazil. We had an all-time record last year for tornadoes in the United States, 1,717 – largely because hurricanes spawned tornadoes.

Don’t look now, Al, but Anthony Watts reports that your prediction was about 180 degrees off. Hurricane activity is now near an all-time low.

During the past 6-years since Hurricane Katrina, global tropical cyclone frequency and energy have decreased dramatically, and are currently at near-historical record lows. According to a new peer-reviewed research paper accepted to be published, only 69 tropical storms were observed globally during 2010, the fewest in almost 40-years of reliable records.

Furthermore, when each storm’s intensity and duration were taken into account, the total global tropical cyclone accumulated energy (ACE) was found to have fallen by half to the lowest level since 1977.

Paging Al Gore. Paging Al Gore. The 2011 hurricane season started June 1. Has anyone seen Al Gore lately?

We have nothing to fear but fearmongers themselves. Oh, and “civil” liberals.

Sun spot cycle has peaked implicating a colder/drier cycle which implies less of teh foodz. Libs will still use this as evidence of climate change while their buddies in the gov’t and finance will be snapping up arable land, storage silos and anything else to stove-pipe the food distribution. Gettin’ people hungry is one of the communist pillars to gaining power.

They aren’t stupid, they’re just evil. Al Gore was the PR man. Sorros is the bag man. The media is teh Goebbels. This crap is pretty easy to predict with any sort of scientific thought put behind it. The HAM radio dorks track the sun cycles and people like Evelyn Browing-Garris track weather and correlations to sun activity. If they are saying agriculture looks to have production problems in the next few years and I-Banks and Sorros shell corps (Starts with a G, can’t remember full name) are buying the storage facilities, infrastructure for futures settlement and land then you know there’s a better chance for a colder more famished world than anything al-Gore and the media says.

Its getting to the point where you can almost predict the near future by taking the opposite stance as the media. For another example, a few months ago when I saw a network news anchor (blonde lady thats not Couric – don’t know name) talking up GM I knew that sucker was ready to tank and sure enough it did! It would be funny if it didn’t remind me of an Orwellian nightmare.

The first rule taught in global warming skool, never, ever say exactly when global warming catastrophes will strike. There’s nothing in this article to discredit Saint Al. His wonderfulness never gave an exact timetable as to when all these more frequent and stronger hurricanes would make an appearance.

There you go; misquoting him out of context again. He actually predicted, quite correctly, that science textbooks would be rewritten to show that whatever happened in the future was exactly what he had predicted.

AlGore got it right according to AlGore’s fundamental commandment.

When there are more hurricanes than normal, it is due to global warming.
When there are fewer hurricanes than normal, it is due to global warming.
When there is normal amount of hurricanes, it is due to global warming.

Tornadoes are caused by Global Warming. Heat is caused by Global Warming. Cold is caused by Global Warming. So if there’s no Global Warming, there’s no weather at all?

Yeah, mojo, I can: because Algore’s god is so flaccid it cannot take care of what it was supposedly the creator of.

Sounds like his god could be a welfare parent.

Did I see the headline right in Drudge yesterday? Smog in Asia is causing global cooling. Geez. The only people wanting to hear from Algore are the farmers looking for cheap fertilizer for their crops.

No, no, it’s Climate Change (TM) now! Anthropogenic Climate Change is why there are no hurricanes, that’s just as bad as too many! Because without hurricanes there’s no rain and tornadoes and stuff and…. and ..
DENIER! DENIER! BURN THE UNBELIEVER!

Al Gore, whose father and family were heavily invested in coal and tobacco and who personally contributed nothing to the family fortune profits handsomely from the demonization of both.

“on the seventh day, after creating the myth of Global warming, The Goracle rested and said liberals shall have dominion over all the weather”. The Goracle then went to Denney’s for the all you can eat breakfast.
