Barbara Boxer more interested in the floor of her house than the floor of the Senate

barbara_boxerWe generally hate the media. But we love it when they actually do their job. For example, Roll Call’s Heard on the Hill column nailed Barbara Boxer for one of her recent actions.

Picture this. Al Gore is on the floor of the senate, rattling on endlessly about global warming and how the timebomb is ticking. Boxer stands up and walks out.

Did she leave to protest Gore’s vision of doom and gloom? To attend a vital committee meeting? To confer with the President about saving the nation’s economy?

No. None of those. Babs walked out to check out carpet color swatches for home.

“Boxer, our witness said, was musing over whether to choose the “linen” or “straw” shade of floor covering.

As Boxer pondered such weighty matters (the spy says she feared the linen option had a “touch too much gray” in it), the committee was engrossed in a discussion of what Gore called “the most serious challenge the world has ever faced.” Among the topics: the very end of humankind.”

Wait. Boxer walked out on Gore? Maybe this woman is smarter than we all think.
