Remember just a few months ago when using the word target was so offensive that it caused Democrats to swoon? Well, times have changed in California.
The Contra Costa Times tells the vivid tale of violent imagery:
If you won't vote for higher taxes, John Burton thinks you should be shot
John Burton, the state Democratic Party chairman, came under fire Friday for suggesting Gov. Jerry Brown “try shooting” a Republican to persuade them to vote for taxes.
In an interview with Bay Area News Group this week, Burton said Brown “can try shooting somebody and tell the next guy, ‘You don’t want that to happen to you, you better step up and vote.’ “… What’s Jerry going to do unless he took out a gun?”
What have those evil Republicans done to so outrage the state’s top Democrat?
They’ve refused to vote for tax increases.
Why shooting’s too good for those bastards. They should be horse whipped. Drawn and quartered. Maybe even forced to watch old Arnold Scharzenegger campaign speeches.

Democrats & progressives are for the vote until they have the guns. Then they are for the guns.

Wimpy Dems from the Coastal Cities should probably keep quiet about guns, I would think.

John Burton’s a Democrat so it’s okay for him to use violent imagry, including the shooting of political opponents. A double standard exists for Democrats and Republicans that’s strictly enforced by the MSM and academia.

Academia-that’s funny. When you think about Academia, think about this: One can’t get a C or a D in the Ivies. Only a pass or a fail. So you can produce roughly 60% of the work that we poor guys did at our state schools, and graduate with a degree from Harvard or Yale or Princeton. Which is precisely why I would never have my kids attend any of the Ivies-not just the 3 listed above.
Now, couple that with the fact that barry and michelle, bubba and hillary, and a host of other brilliant democrats are graduates of such institutions, and the word “Academia” starts to have a wholly different meaning that that which was intended.
The way I see it-if those places and those people are what Academia is, I must be brilliant, having graduated from Eastern Illinois with a B- average in just 5 short years.

I can only imagine the uproar if a Republican said this.

The California Dems should throw him out on his ass. There is no room, anywhere, for this kind of talk in the political arena. My guess is nothing will happen, because as Dem, it’s different.

Why bother. They’ll just put another one in his place. They are all the same.

Could you have imagined the uproar had those exact words been spoken by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker?

A demonrat can show how much he cares by being violent – see, he’s jealous, he cares.
A republican is labeled racist at just the mention of opposition to obummers policies.

I guess Republicans are putting a stop to some underhanded and illegal gain that he was counting on. I will not even be looking to see if this is going to hit the mainstream news.

Hey, Hey, no talk about horse whipping. Remember, President Obama requested everyone be civil, even Dems.
However, I still have four very capable horses for assistance in the drawing and quartering of those in violation. They’d jump at the chance!!

None of it makes any sense until you realize liberal-ism is political insanity and liberals are insane.

Justin, This is San Franfreakshow. The word “BANG” has whole different meaning, one that you and I can only imagine in our worst nightmares, but has a “special” place in the hearts/rectums of the inhabitants of that little burg.

Dems reveal their true colors whenever they are confronted with any sort of responsible policy or practice. When they have nothing left and the truth is exposed, they will resort to violence.

this article is completely incorrect from the start–it’s DEMOCRATIC party. There’s no such thing as the Democrat Party any more than there’s a Republic party.

I see your logic: Your are a democrat and I am a republic. Wait, that doesn’t sound right. You are a democratic and I am republican. Wait, that’s not right either. You better ‘splain it to me again.

Tell you a little secret. Conservatives view people calling their party the “democratic” party like they would any politician calling himself “honest”, or “trustworthy”. It smacks of populism — attempting to apply a noble label to themselves and by virtue of exclusion, imply that the other party is somehow against democratic principles.
I knew a woman once who got her grandkids to call her “skinny grandma” — so they’d call their other grandmother “fat grandma” — it’s the same sociopathic and sleazy-assed mentality, and so we don’t feel that, given the lip service your party actually pays to democratic principles, that they have the right to apply the term of “democratic” to themselves in such a manner.
Don’t think of it as us being hurtful — we’re just trying to apply a little “truth in advertising” to your political party — you know, the one that likes to recount votes until they win, deny serving military personnel their right to vote, give felons and illegal aliens the vote, stuffs ballot boxes and lets ballot boxes from republican districts catch fire, all the while accusing republicans of doing what you’re doing. Feel free to change how you treat with the democratic process, and we’ll be more than happy to call you the democratic party. You’ll probably lose a few elections, though, and we didn’t think you’d like that part.
Rather than taking the somewhat more inflammatory path of calling your party the “sleazy-assed, sociopathic hypocrite” party, we compromise — given that you refer each other as “Democrats”, and your party, therefore is the party of Democrats — linguistically it *should* be the “Democrat” party. Otherwise, you would be implying that we, by not being in the “democratic” party, are somehow “undemocratic”, and that *is* inflammatory. I think it’s a fair compromise!
