The power and the glory that was Oprah is no more. Last year, the TV show screamer announced she was quitting her successful syndicated TV show, launched her own cable network, and sat back to watch the suckers tune in.
It hasn’t quite worked out quite the way she’d hoped. The Oprah Winfrey Network, better known as OWN, drew 1.2 million viewers on launch day, but it’s been all downhill since then.
"Look into my eyes. You will watch the Oprah Channel. You will love the Oprah Channel. You will send money to the Oprah Channel."
The Telegraph UK reports that Oprah’s omniscience is over:
The OWN channel, which launched two months ago, is being watched by only 135,000 people at any one time.
The ratings are 10 per cent lower than for the cable channel it replaced which was called Discovery Health.
And only 45,000 of those watching are women aged 25 to 54, the audience the channel is being aimed at.
Miss Winfrey, 57, has urged patience and supporters say ratings will improve when the chat show host begins appearing more regularly herself towards the end of the year.
She will still be busy filming “The Oprah Winfrey Show” for the ABC network until September, but will then be able to devote more time to her own channel. That will include having her own show two or three nights a week.
Oprah is riding to the rescue. Hell, we’d tune in just to see how the horse handled that load.

I think Oprahs downhill slide began when she got behind Obama. Just a few days ago she mentioned that people need to “respect” him as president.
As far as I’m concerned these liberal sob’s never “respected” President George Bush so why do I have to respect Obama. You respect the office, the person still needs to earn it.
No, Oprah has shown her true colors and has injected politics into things. Just another Limo Liberal who thinks they know better than you do.

Well, when you say she went into decline, yeah, maybe. But she did have one episode that got phenomenal ratings. Who was the guest on that? Oh, if only I could remem… Oh, yeah! Sarah Palin!

I make it a point NOT to watch OWN. As far as I’m concerned, she’s responsible for Barry getting elected. The least I can do is try and help bury her network before the 2012 elections roll around.

They don’t have to take her money, she gives it away to her reletives back in Africa. Remember the O school that she touted as her shining jewel in crown of victories. She was the one who took her time and vetted every single teacher and all personeel in her school. She did such a fantastic job that word did not leak out about the abuses and rape until day 4 of the GRAND OPENING!

Well quiting while your ahead is not the sme as quiting. Has Jerry Senfield or Dave Chapell retuned to TV yet alone start a television network. What Ophra doesn’t want to accept is that she had a great run and like all celebrities/TV personalities there comes a time to call it quits.
