The newest cost estimate for the CA bullet train project is $98.5 billion (nearly triple the original $33.6 billion) and the train will not be up and running until 2033, much later than the original estimate of 2020. If things keep going this way, the project will eventually cost an infinite amount of money and never actually run. BTW, the total state budget this year is $86 billion.

WE need a bullet train in Kalifornia like we need another liberal democrap in the White House…..90 billion dollars and these idiots in favor of it are already defending it saying it will be up and running on time and will make a profit. Sure it will..When Michael Moore slims down to 120 pounds and shaves. At 98 Billion dollars tickets will be about 200,000 dollars each and you can still fly Southwest for 90 bucks from Sacramento to L.A. It never stops amazing me, just how stupid liberals can be and still be able to walk, talk and breath at the same time.

calm down Notso
of course people who actually are well educated, and by that i mean can find a tit in the dark, will know that this is nothing more than typical fol de rol. but the liberals will see it as a great earth shattering investment in clean energy and government adequacy, thus ensuring the likes of Jerry being voted in again and again and again. Remember these are the same type of people that surf with white sharks and think the sharks will respect their openmindedness.

Wasn’t it a slim 14 Billion before it was 33 Billion?

By the time Kalifornia becomes a total communist state, they will need that bullet train to tranport all the over population to the death chambers. Remember, the 1% will be the only folks qualified to resume living in our society. I hope this never happens, but it’s a wild thought. The Unions are totally behind this (bullet train) because they could care less what it does to our society as long as THEY got gravey to eat everyday. By the time it was finished, their grandkids would be pulling retirement from the deal, if it ever got finished which everybody knows will NEVER happen—because it’s a UNION contract. The unions can bite my ass.

at this rate, train transportation technology will be obsolete before this train is finished, or civilization will have crumbled to the point that any but the most rudimentary form of transportation will be unattainable.

Here’s three easy predictions: 1) the cost overruns on the train will be massive, several times the $98.5 billion estimate, 2) it will not be finished by 2033, it may never be finished, 3) it will never make a profit but will requires major subsidies from the state of Kalifornia and the Feds.

The whole thing is a make-work project for the unions, any train service is strictly an afterthought.

The hapless citizens of Kalifornia are getting exactly what they voted for, more debt and more taxes.

Right on! Because if people really wanted a high speed train to compete with airplanes, private enterprise would have already brought it to us.

Well, I guess the Japanese, French, Germans, Italians, Spanish and even the Chinese are laughing out loud at the incompetent USAn engineers and planners.

This place is looking more like a third-world country every day.

Given the problems with THEIR bullet train, China should stay out of it. Everyone else is laughing their a##es off.
