The newest cost estimate for the CA bullet train project is $98.5 billion (nearly triple the original $33.6 billion) and the train will not be up and running until 2033, much later than the original estimate of 2020. If things keep going this way, the project will eventually cost an infinite amount of money and never actually run. BTW, the total state budget this year is $86 billion.
