Carney: If it looks like a recession, sounds like a recession and smells like a recession, it ain’t a recession!

by editor on August 4, 2011

Practitioners of the dismal science (some call it “economics”) have poorer prognostication records than the average storefront fortune teller. Still, even they have enough sense to realize a plethora of dark acrid smoke is a strong clue that somethin’ may be a’ burnin’.

Not White House head double-talker Jay Carney, who is either an incurable optimist or simply incurable.

Perhaps Carney thinks it's not a recession because it's a depression

AP presents White House Minister of Propaganda Jay Carney starring in Pollyanna:

President Barack Obama’s spokesman is discounting talk that the economy may be headed back into recession, despite recent concerns of economists.

Spokesman Jay Carney says there is no question that economic growth and job creation have slowed over the past half year.

But, Carney told a White House briefing, “We do not believe that there is a threat of a double-dip recession.”

We’d point out that when one’s caught in a downpour, the “threat” of rain is a foregone conclusion.

The recession that began in December 2007 officially ended in summer 2009 and the economy has seen growth since then. However, that growth has slowed to a trickle in recent months.

Sounds like the “trickle down economics” Keynsians are always denigrating until their policies are the stones in the ureter.

He blamed the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, higher energy prices, default worries in Europe and recently resolved uncertainty over raising America’s borrowing limit. Carney said, “We believe the economy will continue to grow.”

Wow, so Japanese natural disasters and European deadbeats are the ones who passed Obamacare and the un-stimulative Stimulus and are harrassing U.S. businesses with stupid regulations? Damn them! Damn them to hell!

I watch this guy, & wonder WTF Claire Shipman ever saw in him. Holy smoke, this guy is an idiot, & most everything his says is pure BS. Robert Gibbs & Scott McClellan are starting to look better every day. As for Shipman, she must be easy to please.

Robert “Liar-Liar” Gibbs was just so smarmy that I wanted to punch him in the face.

Just today I was listening to the radio and Tom Sullivan mentioned that while everyone was focused on the debt crisis, The Obungles adminiistration passed out over 600 new regulations for business and companies..Looks like President dipshit took advantage of a crisis again. God please someone push him down the elevator shaft at the white house before he screws us all into the ground. And this little pervert is saying there going to be growth? Where in business bankruptcies? Perhaps Obungles will only be happy when we are all broke. Damn 2012 can’t come soon enough.

Pittsburgh Z-couldn’t have said it better myself. It is a depression anyway-just a long beginning-and a lot of false reporting by agencies covering for slowbama. The end is near for barry’s administration-and the pitchforks are being sharpened now-and I think the media will be the first roundup for the inflamed masses to make happen.
As for Norah Odonnell Toocoldinwa-she needs a cell next to moochelle( for her misappropriation of public funds), for aiding and abetting the commission of felonies(by slowbama, and the DNC) for putting an ineligible man in the oval office. the criminal proceedings to lock up all the abettors and the masterminds will last a decade or so. And I have to say, I am convinced barry was “trained” in the 80s when he traveled to Pakistan. He was going into Russia via Pakistan and getting his KGB subversion training-bet a million bucks.
Ohhh how that hope and change has backfired on the retards, especially the anarchist misanthropes who hate America so much, they would side with anyone-russians, islamofascists, narcoterrorists, and nancy pelosi to bring us down. Let the civil war begin-give Al Gore what he wants. An “American Spring” as he calls it http://forums.hannity.com/showthread.php?t=2298261 Lets give the left what they want-before their “Day Of Rage” on 17 September.

And poor Norah O’Donnell didn’t get what she wanted, either.

Now that the markets have crashed globally and the asian markets have opened tonight to turmoil-maybe his “no-double-dip” stance will change?
This president is done. He can’t get re-elected. He just destroyed the global markets, with the help of the maxists on the left side of the aisle in congress, and the pussies on the right side of the aisle.
When the masses bum-rush capitol hill with pitchforks and torches, they had better clean out our side of the aisle too. The TP-ers who voted for the bullshit bill, and the establishment R’s (boehner, mcconnell, et al) should all be tarred and feathered along with reid, piglosi, and the rest of them. They are all criminal. They put their payments to the various groups who would give them campaign contributions, came before our security.
Time for our military to rise up against the president and congress-time to bring back a republic-instead of this democracy that has led to our demise.
Damn, this is depressing. I am going to go drink now.

Well said Matthew. After reading it I thought I had written it! Kudos, and well spoken!

Our military personnel DO take an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign AND domestic, do they not? And I believe the military takes it’s oath quite a bit more seriously than anyone in Washington.

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.” (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

Sounds like it’s just waiting to be contradictory, swearing to obey the President, and at the same time, swearing to support and defend the Constitution. I know there’s some that have a problem deciding which to do.

The administration’s always tenuous grip on reality is slipping daily, and they expect no one will notice. Could we please set the time machine for November 2012 and put them out of their misery.

That earthquake in Japan is going to replace George Bush as the number one whipping boy for the economic woes we’re enduring.

Elrond Hubbard

Maybe Carney will blame the Japan earthquake on Bush. Yeah, sounds like a plan.

Lanny

How can Carney blame energy prices for anything? When Bush was president, liberals told us the president controls energy prices. Now somehow prices are determined by natural market condition? …. or perhaps it’s because energy prices are racist.

RockingHorseGuy

Didn’t Dear Leader tell us right up front that energy prices would skyrocket?

poppajoe49

Yes, but that will be offset by the “Obama Money”!

Sorry, I didn’t get any of that money. I forgot.

Lanny

I was confused by that too. So I asked a liberal.

Turns out, all the money you currently have was “created or saved” by Obama. Any money you had prior to Jan. 2009 was all eaten by the evil George Bush.

Exactly. I’m not convinced it isn’t a deprssion.

“The recession that began in December 2007” (After Dems had the house & senate for a year) “officially ended in summer 2009” (False) “and the economy has seen growth since then.” (False) “However, that growth has slowed to a trickle in recent months.” (More like dried up completely!)

Today Pelosi claimed the democrats have a plan for jobs while republicans don’t. Wasn’t Nancy Pelosi the one who said passing Obamacare would create 4 million jobs? – yeah, now the democrats have another, bumper-sticker campaign – this week it’s called “Make it in America”. Wasn’t it a Job Summit in Dec. 2009? Didn’t we have “Green Shoots” for about a week? A year ago it was Biden’s “Summer of Recovery”. Didn’t they slip in “Win The Future” at one point until someone told them the abbreviation was WTF? Same failed garbage over and over – wasted stimulus dollars, pouring more money into failed social engineering programs and photo-ops in front of solar panel plants living off government welfare. Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama couldn’t create a job if you gave them a pitcher of lemonade, a stack of cups and sat them on the sidewalk.
It is the over reach and over regulation of our federal government, the grotesque over spending on this bloated welfare state and stunning economic incompetence of this over-hyped, unaccomplished, unqualified junior light weight senator turned junior light weight political prop.

“It is the over reach and over regulation of our federal government, the grotesque over spending on this bloated welfare state and stunning economic incompetence of this over-hyped, unaccomplished, unqualified junior light weight senator turned junior light weight political prop.”

That is it. Simple and completely correct.

“Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama couldn’t create a job if you gave them a pitcher of lemonade, a stack of cups and sat them on the sidewalk.”

Bet they could create an agency to regulate it and tax it BEFORE the first lemon was squeezed.

That agency would, of course, employ a large number of otherwise unemployable people, though.

Pelosi was also the one who said during the 2006 campaign that the Democrats “had a no-nonsense solution” to high gas prices. We’re STILL waiting.

poppajoe49

Sorry CaliDave, you misunderstood her lib doublespeak. What she said was: the Democrats “had a no-sense solution” to high gas prices.

He must be losing it. He forgot to blame George W. Bush. Oh, and never mind the 512.75 point dip in the Dow today.
