Anderson Cooper 360 does a 180: CNN host apologizes for letting Shirley Sherrod smear Andrew Breitbart

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper actually went on the air and bitched himself out for allowing Shirley Sherrod to say that conservative Andrew Breitbart was a “vicious” racist who “would like to get us stuck back in the times of slavery.”

We’re late with this one, so we might as well be trite, too, and say, “Better late than never.”

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper actually went on the air and bitched himself out for allowing Shirley Sherrod to say that conservative Andrew Breitbart was a “vicious” racist who “would like to get us stuck back in the times of slavery.”

Cooper: I interviewed Shirley Sherrod last Thursday. And in the course of that interview, I failed to do something that I should have. I believe in admitting my mistakes. I looked at the interview again today, and Ms. Sherrod said during that interview that she thought Mr. Breitbart was a racist. She said, quote, “I think he would like to get us stuck back in the times of slavery.” She went on to say she believed his opposition to President Obama was based on racism. Now, she, of course, is free to believe whatever she wants, but I didn’t challenge her that night and I should have.

I don’t want anyone on my show to get away with saying things which cannot be supported by facts. I should have challenged her on what facts she believes supports that accusation. That’s my job, and I didn’t do it very well in that interview, and I’m sorry about it. If I get a chance to talk to her again, I will.

Now if Cooper really wanted to bring honesty to CNN, he’d apologize for Rick Sanchez’ stupidity and Larry King’s senility.

Mea culpa, baby.

Pence to the defense: Congressman excoriates Democrats for calling Tea Partiers “extremist”

Republican Congressman Mike Pence defends the Tea Party by doing something Democrats are loathe to do – he quotes the Founding Fathers.

Republican Congressman Mike Pence defends the Tea Party by doing something Democrats are loathe to do – he quotes the Founding Fathers. (Of course, libs think Franklin Roosevelt was the Founding Father, so it’s not surprising that they don’t quote Thomas Jefferson).

“Yesterday we learned of a new effort by Democrats in Washington to attack American citizens who speak their mind and peaceably assemble as ‘extremists or radicals.’ Demeaning tea party citizens, or other Americans who are simply saying ‘no’ to runaway spending, takeovers and bailouts, is beneath the dignity of a great political party and it smacks of desperation.”

And Pence was just getting warmed up.

HuffPo wants Obama to get credit, which is liberalese for "not get the blame"

In a new love poem to the President thinly disguised as an article, the Huffington Post expressed immense relief at the fact the media was finally taking the Least Loved by the Media Ever President’s side.

“We knew this was coming.” they cheered. “The media have finally noticed the gap between Barack Obama’s extraordinary achievements — health care reform, financial reform and preventing a depression, to name a very few — and his seeming inability to win credit for them. “Why can’t Obama get a break?” is the meme of the day.“

Goodbye women voters, hello “The View”

There are a lot of theories floating around about why a sitting president would lower himself to do an embarrassing daytime gabfest like The View.

Fox News explains it all in just seven words: “Desperate attempt to hold women voters.”

When asked why he chose that particular arena, the president joked, “I was trying to find a show that Michelle actually watched.” But it’s not just the First Lady who’s tuning in. According to Nielsen Media Research 79% of “The View”’s audience is female, a demographic that’s started to cool on the president.

Fox News/Opinion Dynamics polling shows Mr. Obama averaged a 59% approval rating among women in 2009, but seven months into 2010, that’s dipped 14 points to just 45%. That’s tough news for a party that is used to benefitting from the gender gap, a phenomenon political analyst Larry Sabato says surfaced in the 1980 presidential election. “It exists in almost all elections, ranging from five to eight percentage points,” according to Sabato.

We just read the other day that he’s also losing ground with Hispanics. So don’t be surprised if he shows up on a Telemundo telenovella, one of those Spanish nighttime soap operas.

Clinton spent $5,000,000 on Chelsea’s wedding last week, donates $10 to Pakistan relief this week

“Here you go, Pakistan,” said the Secretary of State, “but don’t spend it all in one place.” Those weren’t Hillary’s exact words, but it’s a pretty good approximate translation

hillary-clinton-money-pakistan
Have you ever noticed that Hillary Clinton is a lot more generous with your money than she is with her own money?

“Here you go, Pakistan,” said the Secretary of State, “but don’t spend it all in one place.” Those weren’t Hillary’s exact words, but it’s a pretty good approximate translation.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pressed Americans on Wednesday to donate money to flood relief efforts in Pakistan, saying she is leading by example and just made a $10 donation herself.

“I just texted a contribution myself, because we know from our own experience, particularly in Haiti, small donations can add up to make a big difference,” Clinton told reporters on Wednesday.

“Americans have always shown great generosity to people facing crises worldwide. So I urge Americans to join this effort and send some much needed help to the people of Pakistan.”

Clinton urged people to text the word “SWAT” to the number, 50555, and reply “yes” when asked to confirm, in order to make a $10 donation to help the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.

Sure, about 95% of every dollar we send to Pakistan goes straight to a budget line item called “Corruption”, but c’mon Madame Secretary of State, a little perspective is in order here. $10 isn’t much.

Maybe you could have thrown in a little fruit punch and a few leftover pieces of that $11,000 wedding cake you bought for Chelsea’s wedding.

That could have fed about 1,000,000 starving Pakistanis for a month.

The words “President Sarah Palin” make Chris Matthews tremble with fear

Chris Matthews trembles with fear at the mere thought of “President Sarah Palin.” In fact, he says they’re the three scariest words in the English language.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews may get a thrill up his leg when Barack Obama speaks, but he trembles with fear at the mere thought of “President Sarah Palin.” In fact, he says they’re the three scariest words in the English language.

“For tens of millions of Americans, not just Democrats, the scariest three words in the English language are: ‘President Sarah Palin.’”

We’re still not sure where we stand on Sarah Palin, but conceptually, we think she’s probably far more effective as a gadfly than she would be as a president.

Nevertheless, we can think of three other words that should be far more frightening for Chris Matthews than “President Sarah Palin.” Those three words are “the latest ratings.”

Pelosi says she’s not nervous, but the numbers say she should be

The Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi says, “I’m not nervous at all” about the mid-term elections. Nope. Not even the teensiest bit worried.

What, me worry? Nancy Pelosi is turning into the Congressional equivalent of Alfred E. Newman.

The Speaker of the House says, “I’m not nervous at all” about the mid-term elections. Nope. Not even the teensiest bit worried.

But ABC News reports that Pelosi has plenty of reasons to worry:

Democrats now hold a 39-seat edge in the House. Yet the playing field continues to expand: The Rothenberg Political Report currently lists 88 seats as “in play.” Seventy-six of those seats currently are held by Democrats.

Many of the same places that helped build the president’s winning coalition in his race against Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. — states such as Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, and Pennsylvania — could be the places where Republicans rack up the gains they need to take back the House.

In many of those districts, the Obama agenda has been widely unpopular. House members are left defending votes on items including the stimulus, bailouts, health care and cap-and-trade that have grown more unpopular with the passage of time.

It means that the president and his agenda will very much be on the ballot — while the president himself won’t be the best position to help Democrats play defense.

Pelosi maintains that wide-eyed innocence ignorance no matter how bad things look.

Of course, the wide-eyed part may be the result of bad plastic surgery and a Botox overdose, but the ignorance is all-natural.

The people speak: ObamaCare loses its first vote, Missourians overwhelmingly vote to opt out

Missouri’s Proposition C, dubbed the “anti-ObamaCare law”, would create a new state law against federal mandates that require people to buy health insurance. It passed last night by nearly a 3-to-1 margin

Missouri’s Proposition C, dubbed the “anti-ObamaCare law,” would create a new state law against federal mandates that require people to buy health insurance. It passed last night by nearly a 3-to-1 margin.

The final tally: 620,284 (72.7%) against ObamaCare and a mere 233,118 (27.3%) in favor.

Consider this a shot across the bow of the U.S.S. Obama. Consider it a preview of November. Consider it Lexington of the Second American Revolution. Consider us out of metaphors.

Fox4KC reports the overwhelming ObamaCare opt out:

All eyes will be on Missouri’s Proposition C results because it’s the first time voters in the country vote for or against the new federal health care law. Basically Proposition C would create a state law against federal mandates requiring people to buy health insurance.

Missouri’s top U.S. Senate candidates are divided on the measure. If passed, it will will reject part of the new federal health care law. Republicans Roy Blunt and Chuck Purgason both support Proposition C. Democrat Robin Carnahan plans to vote against it.

Notice the liberal slant even in this local Fox News report. They interview two people: One says he’s against Measure C because he needs healthcare and the other says, “I support it, but it’ll never work.”

We can’t have a second American Revolution without some of those cool little tri-corner hats. Anybody know where we can get one?

Photographic evidence that Palin was correct when she said Obama has no cojones

Sarah Palin told Chris Wallace that Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has the cojones Obama lacks. Here is photographic evidence that Palin was right. Far as we can tell, Palin was able to make that anatomical analysis by observing the way Obama sits

Sarah Palin told Chris Wallace that Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has the cojones Obama lacks.

“Jan Brewer has the cojones that our president does not have to look out for all Americans,” Palin said, “not just Arizonans, but all Americans in this desire of ours to secure our borders and allow legal immigration to help build this country as was the purpose of immigration laws.

New York Times headline calls the Chevy Volt “G.M.’s Electric Lemon”

In short, the Volt appears to be exactly the kind of green-at-all-costs car that some opponents of the bailout feared the government might order G.M. to build.

chevy volt prototype
An early prototype for the electric, but hardly electrifying Chevy Volt

Edward Niedermeyer, editor of The Truth About Cars, wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times about the new Government Motors’ (GM) new Chevy Volt. Let’s be generous and say it was less than complimentary:

GENERAL MOTORS introduced America to the Chevrolet Volt at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show as a low-slung concept car that would someday be the future of motorized transportation. It would go 40 miles on battery power alone, promised G.M., after which it would create its own electricity with a gas engine. Three and a half years — and one government-assisted bankruptcy later – G.M. is bringing a Volt to market that makes good on those two promises. The problem is, well, everything else.

For starters, G.M.’s vision turned into a car that costs $41,000 before relevant tax breaks … but after billions of dollars of government loans and grants for the Volt’s development and production. And instead of the sleek coupe of 2007, it looks suspiciously similar to a Toyota Prius. It also requires premium gasoline, seats only four people (the battery runs down the center of the car, preventing a rear bench) and has less head and leg room than the $17,000 Chevrolet Cruze, which is more or less the non-electric version of the Volt.

In short, the Volt appears to be exactly the kind of green-at-all-costs car that some opponents of the bailout feared the government might order G.M. to build. Unfortunately for this theory, G.M. was already committed to the Volt when it entered bankruptcy. And though President Obama’s task force reported in 2009 that the Volt “will likely be too expensive to be commercially successful in the short term,” it didn’t cancel the project.

Cancel the project? Are you insane, Niedermeyer?

The Chevy Volt is the car Hollywood hypocrites need to park between their Ferraris and their Lamborghinis to show that they’re environmentally conscious. It’s the car in Laurie David needs to terrorize Santa Monica’s quiet residential neighborhoods. It’s the car Leonard DiCaprio needs to travel between his mansion and his private jet.

But most of all, it’s the car that Barack Obama needs to demonstrate his scorn for market forces.

Huffington Post worries that many consider Obama “superhuman”

Witness the HuffPo article that says, “Obama’s very strength, it turns out, can be a weakness. After his fast rise against enormous odds, many people actually seem to believe that he is superhuman — that he should be able instantly to unite the country, solve unemployment, end wars and terrorism and while he’s at it, fix health care and end pandemics.”

Maybe it was that crazy Obama-Spiderman Comic Book. Or maybe it was Obama’s magical ability to send tingles up left wing pundits’ legs. Or maybe it was something in the Kool-Aid that’s constantly being swilled in the offices of the Huffington Post. Whatever it was, there’s been some massive delusion going on.

obama superman
Yes, it’s Superman, strange visitor from another country, with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men! Superman, who can change the course of mighty economies, bend Republicans with his bare hands, and who, disguised as Barack Obama, mild-mannered President for a great metropolitan political machine, fights a never-ending battle against truth, justice and the American way!

So the fact that he is not a superhuman allows him to fail at all of the above? That’s an excuse we never even thought of using. “Sorry I got straight F’s, Ma, but I’m not superhuman you know.”

In light of the massive delusion sweeping the American left, IHateTheMedia.com would urge all American citizens – and what the heck, illegal aliens, too – who believe that President Obama is superhuman to please seek help immediately.

But don’t expect any help from Obama. He’s not superhuman, you know.

Newsweek sold for $1. Who’s the sucker?

Sidney Harmon, the 91-year old husband of California Democrat Rep Jane Harmon’s $1 bid for Newsweek has been accepted.

How do you make a small fortune in the magazine business? You start with a large fortune.

That’s what Sidney Harmon, the 91-year old husband of California Democrat Rep Jane Harmon, plans to do now that his $1 bid for Newsweek has been accepted.

The New York Times has the story:

obama newsweek covers
President Obama is worried that Newsweek's new owner might change the magazine's longstanding policy of featuring him on the cover every week

According to several people who have been briefed on the process, Mr. Harman’s bid appealed to Mr. Graham and the Post Company because Mr. Harman has said he would retain a significant number of the magazine’s 325 employees. The financial details of the sale were not known, though one person with knowledge of Mr. Harman’s bid said last week that he would pay $1 in exchange for absorbing Newsweek’s considerable financial liabilities.

Newsweek has struggled through the recession more than most weekly news magazines, losing nearly $30 million last year alone. It was earning that much a year as recently as 2007.

And the longer it remained on the market, the less tenable its financial situation became. It has been an expensive product for the Post Company to produce, with its various international editions and separate back-office positions that were specific to the magazine. Instead of sharing a general counsel and accounting staff with the Post Company, for example, Newsweek has its own employees in those positions.

And if you’ll buy Newsweek, we have a bridge we’d like to sell you.

For god’s sake, man, we just ran IHateTheMedia.com through stimator.com and learned that this site is worth 3,684 times more than Newsweek. And our only liabilities are the lack of a proofreader and receding hairlines.

Rather: Look, there’s, there are a lot of angry people out there, and a lot of scared people. People vote their pocketbooks. That’s number one. Number two, overnight’s a long time in politics. A week is forever. We still have a long time to go and a lot of things can happen between now and November. As we sit here today, odds on the Republicans take the House – I know Democrats don’t want to hear it – retake the house.

Matthews: (glumly) I agree with that.

Rather: And the Democrats, because of the figures that have so many in the Senate, probably hold on to the Senate. And it will change the center of gravity in American politics unless something dramatic happens between now and November.

Palin says Obama isn’t just our first black President, he’s also our first female president

On Fox News Sunday, Sarah Palin said what many Americans have been thinking – that Barrack Obama is not only our first black president, but also our first female president.

As we learned from the disgraceful journalist scandal, the Liberals’ attack on Sarah Palin began before they even knew who she was. Over the course of the coming week you can expect to see Palin Syndrome reach new heights of insanity.

On Fox News Sunday, Sarah Palin said what many Americans have been thinking – that Barack Obama is not only our first black president, but also our first female president.

Palin’s quote, “Governor Jan Brewer has the cajones that the president does not” came during a discussion of the Arizona illegal immigrant battle, making her usage of the Latino slang “cajones” quite appropriate and well-placed.

But don’t expect the media to make note of or credit her clever use of words. The attacks will begin today, and they will come fast and furious from all three major networks, as well as CNN and MSNBC, the five entities collectively known as the P.R. Division of the White House. The propagandists-posed-as-pundits will express outrage at what they will term, “Respect for the office, whether you agree with the man or not.” But for most Americans that ship has sailed, no longer applicable when the empty suit living in the White House seems indifferent to the ever increasing number of citizens being foreclosed out of their own houses.

Before it ended, the Palin interview switched topics to the Bush tax cuts. Speaking out against discontinuing them, Palin said, “My palm isn’t big enough to list all of reasons how increasing taxes will hurt Americans.”

Thank God her palm was big enough to publicly bitch slap this abomination of a president.
