Iowa crowd mistakes DNC chairwoman for Tea Partier and boos her

The gathering was dominated by conservatives determined to express their view of the hopelessness of change.

Our headline probably expresses how the White House and main stream media (pardon our redundancy) will portray Sunday’s appearance by DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz at the Iowa State Fair.

Instead of the Obama campaign’s efforts to generate pro-administration astroturf, the gathering was dominated by conservatives determined to express their view of the hopelessness of change.

The Des Moines Register tells the tale:

[DNC] Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, spent 10 minutes this afternoon yelling over coordinated cheers and bipartisan jeers as she defended President Barack Obama’s record and called on voters to support him again in 2012.

Question: How does one spend 10 minutes defending Obama’s record? Answer: We’re not sure, but we imagine that it involves saying “Killed Bin Laden” about 200 times.

The large crowd was dominated by what appeared to be a coordinated group of Obama supporters carrying signs, wearing stickers and cheering loudly at each applause line. But amidst them were critics to both the right and left of Wasserman Schultz and the president.

Because the Obama supporters had walkie-talkies and printed scripts, this guy jumped to the conclusion their spontaneous outbursts were coordinated.

Between her defense of Democrats’ record and critiques of the Republican candidates’ policies … Wasserman Schultz called for Americans “come together” and move beyond divisive partisanship.

Obama flacks wanting to “move beyond divisive partisanship” is like bags of hammers wanting to move beyond stupid.

“We need a little unity in America right now, and that’s what Democrats have been committed to under President Obama’s leadership.”

The Democrats’ idea of unity is to call everyone who disagrees with them terrorists. Debbie says her party is “committed” and we think people with that attitude should be.
