New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is doing everything she can to fog up her party affiliation. In this campaign commercial, she mentions neither President Obama nor the word Democrat.
Take New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, for example. She couldn’t lose if her opponent released unretouched photos of Gillibrand in compromising positions with farm animals.
Nevertheless, she’s doing everything she can to fog up her party affiliation. In this campaign commercial, she mentions neither President Obama nor the word Democrat.
Despite the fact that she was elected to the House in 2006 and was appointed to the Senate in 2009, Gillibrand takes the position that she hasn’t been in Washington for long.
We beg to differ, Kirsten. You’ve already been there too long. Far too long.
Republican Ron Johnson is kicking incumbent Democrat Senator Russ Feingold’s ass in Minnesota’s Senate race (he’s up by 7 points in the latest Rasmussen poll). This commercial demonstrates why.
Republican Ron Johnson is kicking incumbent Democrat Senator Russ Feingold’s ass in Wisconsin’s Senate race (he’s up by 7 points in the latest Rasmussen poll). This commercial demonstrates why.
Unlike some recent campaign commercials, it has no hilarious dialogue, no special effects, no lumberjacks, no buckets of water being thrown on witches.
But we love the way it preempts the attack you know is coming from the Democrat.
Liberals are the most sensitive people on the face of the planet. So we must – absolutely must – do everything we can to assure that these delicate lovers of peace are not offended by any of our words or actions.

The Daily Illini carried this editorial by a pointy-headed academic and we break our normal rules by carrying it in full in hopes that you can learn the error of your jingoistic ways:
The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.

The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.
The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.

After seeing her popularity take a nosedive this summer, First Lady Michelle Obama has returned to the center stage with a foolproof plan to win it all back.
After seeing her popularity take a nosedive this summer, First Lady Michelle Obama has returned to the center stage with a foolproof plan to win it all back.
That plan? Telling you what you can do with your life, your body and how to raise your children.
"Please don't tell Michelle you caught me eating food that tastes good. Please."
As reported by The Washington Post:
First Lady Michelle Obama is prodding the nation’s restaurants to add more healthy options to menus, label those items more prominently and market nutritious foods to kids.
Speaking to the National Restaurant Association on Monday, Mrs. Obama pleaded with restaurants small and large to take a little butter or cream out of their dishes, use low fat milk and provide apple slices or carrots as a default side dish on the kids’ menu.
Mrs. Obama said that Americans are spending half their food dollars outside the home and eating a third of meals in restaurants. She asked the restaurants to rethink the food they offer and reformulate their menus to help combat childhood obesity.
Mrs Obama just doesn’t get it. There’s a reason menus are the way they are. Restaurants either cater to the tastes of those paying the bills or they go out of business.
This is a concept her husband’s administration may want to consider. Soon.
But as far as Michelle is concerned, we think it may be time for her to take another vacation. $75,000 a day in taxpayer money is a bargain if it keeps her out of our lives.

The Tampa Tribune has the story:
Eric Lawrence Pidrman is part of MSNBC's key demographic: Drunken lunatics
A Spring Hill man who threatened U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite during the health care debate will spend more than two years in federal prison.
Eric Lawrence Pidrman, 66, claims he was in an alcoholic blackout when he telephoned Brown-Waite’s office about 6:30 a.m. on March 25 and left a message saying he had 27 people who would make sure she “doesn’t live to see her next term.”
“I’m terribly sorry that it ever happened,” Pidrman said this morning before he was sentenced. At the time of the morning he made the call, he said, “I very often watch the recycled news shows on MSNBC.”
That wasn’t a recycled news show, Eric. That was just Keith Olbermann naming Bill O’Reilly Worst Person In the World for the 873rd time. It just seemed recycled.
“He [Ted Kennedy] took a tremendous blow on the head,” says Hersh. In interviews following the crash, Kennedy displayed confusion and amnesia”
Burton Hersh, described by US News as Teddy Kennedy’s “lifelong biographer”, has moved from writing biographies to rewriting history.
Newsweek’s Washington Whispers has the details:
Now, a year after Kennedy died, his lifelong biographer Burton Hersh, armed with fresh interviews with Kennedy’s mistress at the time, tells Whispers that the whole July 1969 episode should have been handled as a simple crash, leaving the senator’s legacy untainted. “It was a car accident,” he says. “Ted was a terrible driver. He never paid much attention to where he was going.”
“He took a tremendous blow on the head,” says Hersh. In interviews following the crash, Kennedy displayed confusion and amnesia, he says.
A tremendous blow on the head? We think Hersh left a few words out of that last sentence. If should have read:
“In interviews for the next 40 years after the crash, Kennedy displayed confusion about the meaning of the Constitution and amnesia about his role in killing Mary Joe Kopechne.”

Nancy Pelosi is currently calling for a vote on “The Obama Tax Cut’s” But, aren’t the Obama Tax Cut’s actually an extension of the old “Evil George Bush Tax Cuts?”
Taking credit for the success of the Iraqi war and the apparent success of the current campaign in Afghanistan (which, of course, was modeled after a Bush strategy that both Obama and Biden opposed) was apparently not enough. No, The Greatest President Who Ever Was and Ever Will Be is now taking credit for those tax cuts that he used to call irresponsible.
Janet Napolitano is not a ugly lesbian Nazi. She's an appearance-challenged, alternate lifestyle, Democracy optional advocate
According to Fox News, Nancy Pelosi is currently calling for a vote on “The Obama Tax Cut’s.” Wait a minute. Aren’t the Obama Tax Cut’s actually an extension of the old “Evil George Bush Tax Cuts?” You know, just like the extension of the old Evil George Bush Patriot Act, which doesn’t impair anyone’s rights now that it is the “Glory to Obama Wondrous New Laws for Americans Who Do Not Cling To Their Guns Or Their Religion Super Duper Patriot Act.”
Fox News also reports that, “The White House wants the public to start using the term “global climate disruption” in place of “global warming” — fearing the latter term oversimplifies the problem and makes it sound less dangerous than it really is.”
You’ve got to hand it to Rachel Maddow. No one else can plunge into the crevices of a person’s past and deliver a tongue lashing like this two-fisted MSNBC host. This time she’s decided to finger Christine O’Donell for being, of all things, masturbation intolerant.

This time she’s decided to finger Christine O’Donell for being, of all things, masturbation intolerant.
Here’s the rub. Far be it from us to condemn people for getting in touch with themselves. A little introspection can be a good thing. And if by the end of all that waxing philosophic you come to the conclusion that you want to exercise a little more self control, well, that can be a good thing, too. But be warned, beating masturbation might not be as easy as you think.
Our suggestion for getting your hands around the problem and pounding it into submission? Try watching MSNBC on any weeknight between the hours of 9 and 10 pm Eastern. We guarantee that all sexual desire will vanish. It’s far more effective than a cold shower.
Thank you, Rachel, for helping us overcome the greedy urge for self-satisfaction. Thank you.

If CNN management wants to know why its audience is diminishing so rapidly, they need look no further than the fact that the last guy to wear an ascot on TV was Thurston B. Howell III.
There may have been a more embarrassing photo of a TV personality at some point in history, but we doubt it.
If CNN management wants to know why its audience is diminishing so rapidly, they need look no further than the fact that the last guy to wear an ascot on TV was Thurston B. Howell III.
Well, the last guy until effete CNN contributor Roland Martin, that is.
MediaBistro has the details:
CNN contributor Roland Martin is renowned for his sense of style. Specifically, his mastery of the ascot, the tie-alternative that has seemingly been lost to time.
Fear no more, ascot fans. Martin is now selling his own line of ascots … and he is selling them with swagger.
Let’s let Verse 9, which designed the line, explain:
Whether telling it like it is on CNN, hosting “Washington Watch” on TV One, speaking in front of thousands at a conference or taking part in the nightlife of a mega metropolis near you, Roland S. Martin exemplifies the definition of swagger.

This is a tobacco smoke enema, a medical device used back in the 18th and early 19th centuries to infuse tobacco smoke into a patient’s rectum for various medical purposes, primarily to resuscitate drowning victims.
A rectal tube inserted into the anus was connected to a fumigator and bellows that forced the smoke towards the rectum. The warmth of the smoke was thought to promote respiration, but doubts about the credibility of tobacco smoke enemas lead to the popular phrase “blowing smoke up your ass.”

Last week the MSNBC host demonstrated one of his more lucid moments when he delivered this rational and impassioned message during his “Let Me Finish” segment:
The sign on the top was photographed at Chapell Hill Bank in Texas. The sign on the bottom was found at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Oregon.
The sign on the top was found at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Oregon. The sign on the bottom was photographed at Chapell Hill Bank in Texas.
This made us wonder if there were significantly more firearm deaths per capita in Texas than in Oregon. A little Google research gave us the surprising answer.
According to StateHealthFacts.org, Oregon ranks #28 with 10.5 firearm deaths per 100,000. Texas ranks #26 with 11.0 per 100,000. Virtually identical.
We suspect that the difference may be explained by the 0.5 firearm deaths per 100,000 that occur at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.
But you can’t really blame a guy for shooting one of those people, can you?

Gas2.org has the story of Audi’s shitty day:
Introducing the exciting new 2010 Audi Excrement-mobile
Naming cars in this day of globalization has become an exercise of gargantuan proportions. For marketers and brand managers, the trick is to avoid a name that can be translated as something less than appealing in one of the dozens of languages you plan on marketing in. Even so, every now and then we get one that is slightly out of place, but usually it’s not a huge misstep.
But has Audi crossed the line from funny to major blunder in naming their entire upcoming electric car brand “e-tron”? It appears they have because, as it turns out, the word “étron” in French means “excrement.” And Germany and France even share a border!
Audi’s e-tron brand has certainly had its fair share of the limelight—garnering lots of hype from the first entrant, the R8 e-tron. It’s a super sexy electric rocket that Audi says they will produce in a limited run. But now imagine it if you happen to speak French; “super sexy crap rocket” doesn’t really have much of a ring to it.
A personal story from the editor:
Back in my ad agency days, a client once asked us to translate its successful American ad campaign into German. We hired a translator to do the work. Unfortunately, no one at the agency nor at the client’s American office spoke German, so no one realized that two letters had been transposed in the final version of the ad. Our mistake, in retrospect, was in not having someone in the client’s German office proofread the ad. As soon as it ran, the client was flooded with phone calls. Turns out that as a result of those transposed letters, the headline said, “Our products are assholes.”
More and more Democrats are coming out publicly to express their confidence in retaining control of the House in the November midterms.
More and more Democrats are coming out publicly to express their confidence in retaining control of the House in the November midterms.
The latest to join the chorus – despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary – is House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, who, with good reason, is seldom allowed to speak in public.
Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Hoyer repeatedly insisted, “We’re going to hold the House” and “We don’t have any weak candidates.”
Let us just say three words: Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf?
You may remember al-Sahaf (aka Baghdad Bob), Saddam Hussein’s Information Minister. During the early days of the Iraq War, he became famous for saying things like “They’re not even within 100 miles of Baghdad. They are not in any place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion … they are trying to sell to the others an illusion.” This as American tanks rolled by in the background.
No one could ignore the facts like Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf. Until now, that is.
Have you seen this angry exchange between CNN’s American Morning co-anchors John Roberts and Kiran Chetry?
Have you seen this angry exchange between CNN’s American Morning co-anchors John Roberts and Kiran Chetry?
Just as Roberts was introducing White House advisor David Axelrod on Wednesday morning, he reprimanded Chetry for something she was doing off-camera.
Mediaite.com describes the uncomfortable situation:
“Let me ask you first of all,” pause, smile, restart. “Let me ask you first of all, David, if I could, before we get into the…”
Full stop. Then, Roberts turned to where Chetry was sitting next to him (she had been on camera earlier in the segment), and said, with Axelrod still in the double-box shot: “Would you mind not doing that while I’m talking? Thank you, I appreciate that.” Then, added for emphasis and sarcasm, “If you don’t mind.”
And then back to the interview.
Here’s the video clip:
What was Chetry doing off-camera that caused Roberts to snap? We have a few possibilities:
Printing out a cover letter to accompany the resume she was sending to Fox News
Laughing at Rick Sanchez videos on YouTube
Tweeting that she couldn’t decide if David Axelrod looks more like Hitler or that guy who played Higgins on Magnum P.I.
Doing some hands-on research for the Christine O’Donnell anti-masturbation campaign
Drawing Mohammed
Painting Anderson Cooper’s nails
Slipping Viagra into Larry King’s coffee
Slipping saltpeter into Larry King’s coffee
Playing with Roberts’ bottle of Ritalin pills
Tapping out the letters A-D-H-D in Morse code with her pen
Tweeting, “Axelrod. Isn’t that redundant?”
Daydreaming about taking that gig as the Jets locker room correspondent
Breast-feeding Larry King
Waxing
Eating a banana with hits of whipped cream straight out of the can
Sock puppet reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg
Calculating pi on an abacus
Showing Joey Chestnut her own special hot dog eating technique
Pulling the skin on her face back until she looked like Nancy Pelosi

John Kerry is out there burnishing his liberal credentials by demanding that immigration agents be more “humane” while risking their lives arresting drug dealers and human traffickers.
We exaggerate, but not by much. John Kerry is out there burnishing his liberal credentials by demanding that immigration agents be more “humane” while risking their lives arresting drug dealers and human traffickers.
Politico.com has the details:
John Kerry wants to make sure immigration agents don't operate in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan
As Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano led a naturalization ceremony for more than 5,000 new Americans at Fenway Park, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) on Tuesday pitched a bill requiring federal authorities to take a more “humane” approach when enforcing immigration laws.
The “Families First Immigration Enforcement Act of 2010” calls for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to give state agencies advanced notice before an immigration raid so they can provide translators for the detainees.
The Kerry bill would also require ICE to check detainees to see if any should be released on the grounds that they are too sick, too old, pregnant or nursing, or fall under other vulnerable groups.
You know that the liberals will stretch the definition of “sick” until it includes the common cold. “Oops. Can’t arrest Jose. He says he feels a scratchy throat coming on.”
DC Democrat Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton actually left a voicemail for a lobbyist in which she strong-armed him for money by citing her seniority and all the stimulus-funded projects she had helped secure in his “sector.”
Non-voting District of Columbia Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton – a Democrat, naturally – is a moron. A corrupt moron.
This corrupt moron actually left a voicemail for a lobbyist in which she strong-armed him for money by citing her seniority and all the stimulus-funded projects she had helped secure in his “sector.”
“I was, frankly, uhhh, uhhh, surprised to see that we don’t have a record, so far as I can tell, of your having given to me despite my uh, long and deep, uhhh, work. In fact, it’s been my major work, uhhh, on the committee and sub-committee it’s been essentially in your sector. I am, I’m simply candidly calling to ask for a contribution. As the senior member of the, ummm, committee and a sub-committee chair, we have (laughs) obligations to raise, uhhh, funds.”
Congratulations, Congresswoman Norton. You just earned a nomination as Dumbest Member of Congress 2010.
Bill Clinton and Rachel Maddow: they’re both Rhodes Scholars. They’re both good liberals. Why under different circumstances, you could imagine the two of them going out and chasing chicks together.
Good news for Rachel Maddow: Someone's paying attention to her program
It’s sad when two guys who have so much in common can’t get along.
Take Bill Clinton and Rachel Maddow, for example. They’re both Rhodes Scholars. They’re both good liberals. Why under different circumstances, you could imagine the two of them going out and chasing chicks together.
And yet, they feud.
Politico has the sad story:
Bill Clinton flashed irritation at MSNBC host Rachel Maddow and other liberals Monday for failing to appreciate the successes of his presidency.
“One of the leading television commentators on one of our liberal cable channels said I was the best Republican president the country ever produced, which would come [as] quite a surprise to the Republicans, half of whom still think I’m a closet communist,” Clinton said during an appearance with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Clinton didn’t mention Maddow by name, but she made that comment on her March 31 show.
“What she meant by that was I didn’t necessarily follow their ‘conventional wisdom,’” he said. “I said, ‘What do you mean?!’”
Clinton said he accomplished more for the poor and middle class than traditional, New Deal-era liberalism ever could have. He touted his welfare-to-work program, which he said cut the rolls by 60 percent.
We hope these two can patch things up, because it’s going to be a lonely few years for liberals and they’re going to need all the friends they can get.

The world held it’s collective breath.
Then Kaine made the announcement. The world exhaled and said, “That’s it? That’s the big announcement? A new logo and a new website?”
So here it is. The new logo for the Democrat Party. Looks like a “D” inside an “O” to us. O.D.
Seems right, because the nation has certainly OD’ed on their tax-and-spend policies in the last twenty months. OD’d on socialism. OD’ed on deficits. OD’ed on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
