It’s kick-off time. Olbermann booted from “Football Night In America”

There’s probably a big, collective sigh of relief today among the cast and crew of NBC’s Football Night In America. MSNBC’s obnoxious Keith Olbermann is out.

Can't wait to hear Keith Olbermann blame this on George Bush

There’s probably a big, collective sigh of relief today among the cast and crew of NBC’s Football Night In America. MSNBC’s obnoxious Keith Olbermann is out.

SportsByBrooks.com has the story:

Multiple media and network television sources confirmed to me Thursday that Keith Olbermann will not appear on NBC’s Football Night In America Sunday evening NFL broadcasts this season.

Some members of the FNIA cast and crew were made aware of the news Monday at a preseason production meeting in New York City. Afterwards, the cast and crew adjourned to Yankee Stadium to watch the Yankees-Blue Jays game.

And they probably hoisted more than a few beers to celebrate the departure of the widely-disliked Olbermann.

MSNBC to go more liberal. Maddow out, Marx in? Olbermann out, Mao in?

MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann tweeted on Friday that Comcast wants to make his network “more liberal” when it completes its merger with NBC Universal.

Considering the fact that Marx and Mao are dead, the question that comes to mind is how could MSNBC go more liberal?

The Hill peaks into the future via Keith Olbermann’s tweets:

MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann tweeted on Friday that Comcast wants to make his network “more liberal” when it completes its merger with NBC Universal.

The $30 billion merger is currently under review at the Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

“Yeah, they want to go more liberal,” Olbermann tweeted in response to a question about the merger.

So apparently Comcast’s business plan calls for an even smaller audience. Or Keith Olbermann is fantasizing.

We know which way we’re leaning toward.

Olbermann says, “Larry King wanted me on CNN.” President of CNN says, “Yeah, sure.”

The always modest Keith Olbermann used the occasion of Larry King’s retirement to do a little self-promotion. He tweeted a story about King being his second biggest fan (Olbermann, of course, is always his own biggest fan).

Mediaite asked CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein about the story.

Mediaite: Last night Keith Olbermann tweeted: “Larry King is a lovely, generous man who tried, for eight years, to convince his bosses to hire me to be his 8 PM lead-in at CNN.” Is this true?
Klein: Well it didn’t work.
Mediaite: But is it true?
Klein: Larry’s got a million ideas a day.

Robert Gibbs spanks Keith Olbermann. Film at eleven.

Two articles on in the Huffington Post demonstrate that the Apocalypse is imminent.

Headline this one "Putz calls putz a putz."

Two articles in the Huffington Post demonstrate that the Apocalypse is imminent.

First was the story of Robert Gibbs lashing out at the media. No, not Fox News, but MSNBC, and more specifically, that lovable leftist lunatic Keith Olbermann.

The article began “White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs offered a noticeably snide dig on Wednesday to cable news critics who claim that the president is being too hands-off with the oil crisis — specifically MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, who harshly criticized Obama’s Oval Office address the night before.”

According to the article, “The comments were made in response to a question about whether Gibbs had seen some of the tougher takes on the president from the “Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and Olbermann — the latter of whom critiqued Obama for offering mostly platitudes during his Gulf speech.”

Apparently, the leftist media has learned nothing from watching the Most Media-Loving Administration In History’s war against any journalist foolish enough to question them.

Another HuffPo article noted that Olbermann’s fans, who measure in the dozens, were pretty upset with his treatment of The One and Olbermann was forced to reaffirm his dedication and “Sent a nine-part response over Twitter, praising the President.”

The statement read in part, “This is easily the smartest political leader I have ever seen, as good a political public speaker as I’ve heard, last October I was privileged along with 11 other news people to spend 2 hours with him as he showed extemporaneous mastery of every one of two dozen topics fired at him by us in random order. I left the room wondering if we had ever before actually elected a president who was one of the 1,000 smartest people in the country (or maybe 100, or 10) as we had now. I believe in him and in his presidency and he has frequently achieved success (in health care reform, particularly) by doing that for which I criticized him. I hope that is again the case now because the Gulf Speech was not up to his standards nor did it express his mastery of policy.”

The fact that Olbermann was not the Obama administration’s spokesman came as a shock to both liberals and conservatives a like.

However, the fact that he was very sorry surprised no one.

Olbermann, Matthews, Fineman take turns ripping Obama’s “unpresidential” oil speech

Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman just didn’t know what to make of President Obama’s Oval Office Address on the Gusher in the Gulf. But they knew they didn’t like it.

They’re sad. They’re angry. They’re confused. Damn, it’s a beautiful thing to watch.

Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Howard Fineman just didn’t know what to make of President Obama’s Oval Office Address on the Gusher in the Gulf. But they knew they didn’t like it.

RealClearPolitics has this handy, dandy summary of the trio’s disappointment:

Olbermann: “It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days.”

Matthews: compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: “Nothing specific at all was said.”

Matthews: “No direction.”

Fineman: “He wasn’t specific enough.”

Olbermann: “I don’t think he aimed low, I don’t think he aimed at all. It’s startling.”

Fineman: Obama should be acting like a “commander-in-chief.”

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. “I’ll barf if he does it one more time.”

Matthews: “A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk.”

Matthews: “I don’t sense executive command.”

Say goodnight, Mr. President. When you’ve lost MSNBC, you’ve lost several dozen Americans.

Which one’s crazier? Olbermann interviews Alvin Greene.

This Keith Olbermann interview of Alvin Greene features awkward moments of silence. Long, awkward moments of silence. And those were the best parts of the interview.

You’ve probably heard about Alvin Greene, the guy South Caroline Democrats nominated to run against popular Republican Jim DeMint for the U.S. Senate.

This Olbermann interview features awkward moments of silence. Long, awkward moments of silence. And those were the best parts of the interview. In fact, they may have been the best moments of any Keith Olbermann show we’ve ever seen.

Greene is a Democrat, so of course, Olbermann treated him with the utmost respect despite the fact that he has a felony obscenity charge pending against him and despite the fact that he appears to be certifiably insane.

Greene, that is, not Olbermann. Although he’s pretty damned crazy, too.

Who’s the idiot? While Olbermann calls Palin an “idiot,” MSNBC on-screen graphic misspells “you’re”

While Keith Olbermann was naming Sarah Palin “The Worst Person in the World” and “an idiot”, the ace graphics department at MSNBC misspelled the word “you’re” in an on-screen graphic.

Ahhh, those rascally radicals at MSNBC. Perhaps they should have spent more of their college careers studying and less time protesting.

While Keith Olbermann was naming Sarah Palin “The Worst Person in the World” and “an idiot”, the ace graphics department at MSNBC misspelled the word “you’re” in an on-screen graphic.

Olbermann: She continued, “I’m glad to be here on the president’s home turf. Somebody told me ‘you know, you’re going into enemy territory. I said it’s Chicago, it’s not MSNBC.’ That woman is an idiot. And the event at which that idiot spoke was sponsored by an Illinois firm that specializes in battery-operated back-up sump pumps. Not just a sump-pump political event: it was a back-up sump-pump political event. Moreover, to put it plainly, and this is a matter of record, that woman does not have the courage, personal or political, to appear on MSNBC. Not without and army with her, and I mean that literally. the half-governor of Alaska now celebrating two years without holding an actual news conference or having the guts to appear on a network like this one. But the toast of America’s back-up sump pump political circuit. Today’s Worst Person in the World.

Let us spell this out for you, Keith. Your a vile human bean.

Shock! Keith Olbermann is, shall we say, less than truthful.

Say what? Keith Olbermann is less than truthful? That won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s ever watched his show. But it apparently came as a revelation to Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales, who was recently named Olbermann’s “Third Worst Person In The World.”

Say what? Keith Olbermann is less than truthful? That won’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s ever watched his show. But it apparently came as a revelation to Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales, who was recently named Olbermann’s “Third Worst Person In The World.”

What had Shales done to deserve this honor? He simply said that when Stewart interviewed Bill Clinton, “She looked as though she would have been much more comfortable in Clinton’s lap.”

That sent Olbermann over the edge. The edge of truthfulness, that is.

The New York Post has the details of Olbermann’s lie of omission:

Olbermann neglected to tell his viewers that Stewart, who used to substitute-host for him on “Countdown,” is married to Bill Wolff, the cable channel’s vice president for prime-time programming.

“While he’s attacking people’s ethics, he himself is guilty of a huge oversight. He’s intentionally misleading viewers,” Shales told us. “Stewart is more than a colleague. She’s his boss’ wife. It’s a deliberate deception.”

We’re not sure who was more upset by Shales’ review – Stewart or the ass-kissing Olbermann.

The only possible answer for this remarkably self-indulgent presentation is that Olbermann has photos of NBC executives at that bestiality farm in Washington. The only possible answer.

Olbermann takes off month of March, his show gets higher ratings without him

At what point do the geniuses up in the executive suites at MSNBC look at the latest ratings and ask themselves the reasonable question, “Why are we paying Olbermann $7 million a year?”

Uh-oh. Looks like Olbermann rantings do not translate to Olbermann ratings

At what point do the geniuses up in the executive suites at MSNBC look at the latest ratings and ask themselves the reasonable question, “Why are we paying Olbermann $7 million a year?”

We call it reasonable because Olbermann’s Countdown show got higher ratings while he was off the air.

MediaBistro reports the bad news for the oleaginous Olbermann:

As we reported, yesterday was Keith Olbermann’s official return to MSNBC after being away for more than a month. And with the March ratings period now complete (it ended Sunday), Olbermann’s substitute host, Lawrence O’Donnell, helped give “Countdown” its best month of the quarter, but still down — 21% — compared to March ’09.

Admittedly, “higher” ratings is a relative term at the ratings-challenged network. And a 21% increase doesn’t translate to a lot of additional viewers.

Nevertheless, think of all the additional limos and champagne and caviar the MSNBC execs could afford to buy if they weren’t paying Olbermann’s exorbitant salary. And don’t think they’re not thinking the same thing.

That’s all, folks: MSNBC, CNN beaten by Cartoon Network in ratings

The Cartoon Network was ranked #13, above MSNBC and CNN, despite the fact that MSNBC and CNN’s programming is much funnier.

This report from MediaBistro.com may explain why Keith Olbermann seems to be doing a Yosemite Sam impression every night.

MediaBistro.com reports the highlights lowlights:

“Countdown” and “Rachel Maddow” ended the month averaging the second-most viewers in their time slots, ahead of CNN and HLN, but behind Fox News. “Countdown” finished the month averaging 964,000 total viewers (350,000 demo) and “Rachel Maddow” finished with 819K total viewers (213K demo).

But both were down from February of 2009. Olbermann was down -29% in total viewers (-43% demo) and Maddow was down -44% in total viewers (-33% demo). “Morning Joe” remains in 4th among the morning shows, and MSNBC programs from 9am-5pm still trail CNN and HLN.

NBC insiders say Olbermann is in trouble. Big trouble.

According to NBC insiders, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann may have worn out his welcome with network bigwigs. What took them so long?

According to NBC insiders, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann may have worn out his welcome with network bigwigs. What took them so long?

Capitol Hill Blue reports the incident that caused this man-made human resources disaster:

Olbermann, who fancies himself as a cross between news legend Edward R. Murrow and Howard Beale, the mad prophet newsman of the black comedy movie “Network,” went after former MSNBC general manager Dan Abrams Wednesday night, claiming Abrams had been fired and had a grudge against the network.

The tirade left NBC executives red-faced because Abrams, a lawyer, is still employed by NBC as a news analyst on legal issues.

Olbermann castigated Abrams in a new segment of his show “The Countdown Hall of Shame,” which replaced the tired “Worst Persons in the World Segment” that had turned into a nightly tirade against Fox News personalities Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck.

Obermann named the media website Mediaite — founded by Abrams — as runner up in the Hall of Shame Category because it reported on the Tea Party calling Obermann out for his claim that the grassroots movement lacked diversity when MSNBC anchors are mostly whitebread.

Said Olbermann:

Perhaps the reason that Mediaite took a Tea Party’s word for it is that this is the same site of a fired MSNBC employee. And in his attempt to implant his bitterness toward this place, to plug or weave it into his website, he has wigged out. He would like us to sweep his failure under the rug as if it were a bald-faced lie, or there will be hell to pay.

It appears that NBC execs have never actually watched Olbermann’s show. If they had, they would simply shrug this off knowing full well that being 180 degrees away from the truth is pretty common on their network from 9-10 pm EST.

A much more likely reason for the state of unease among NBC execs might be Olbermanns rapidly dwindling audience, which now routinely numbers under 1,000,000 viewers per night.

After all, network executives aren’t offended by liars. But they are highly offended by liars with small audiences.

They’ve done it again: Another week of record low ratings for Olbermann, Maddow and Schultz

To put it bluntly, the week of February 1 – 5 was an unmitigated disaster at MSNBC.

Sssssh! Don't wake up Keith Olbermann's last viewer.

Just when you start to think MSNBC can’t sink any lower in the ratings, those lunatic liberals surprise you by doing it again.

To put it bluntly, the week of February 1 – 5 was an unmitigated disaster at MSNBC.

Schultz’ total audience for the week was only 2,402,000 viewers. Maddow’s total viewers for a full week fell under 4,000,000 for the first time (3,922,000).

On top of that, Keith Olbermann’s audience, which once neared 1,500,000 viewers per night, fell under 1,000,000 viewers four of the five nights.

In an effort to demonstrate our commitment to a greener world, we hereby request that MSNBC’s last viewer turn out the lights on their way out the door.

America sick of Olbermann schtick: His ratings are down 44% since last year

Remember a year or so ago when Keith Olbermann bragged about his ratings on the air? Don’t expect to see a replay of that show anytime soon.

Keith Olbermann's audience is abandoning him like he's a baby girl in China

Remember a year or so ago when Keith Olbermann bragged about his ratings on the air? Don’t expect to see a replay of that show anytime soon.

Daily Finance reports the details:

Keith Olbermann was already a renowned sportscaster when he rose to prominence as a political commentator. This was during the Bush Administration, when the left was badly in need of a forceful voice to rally around. Such was his popularity that MSNBC reoriented its entire primetime lineup around it.

But now the Democrats control Congress and the White House, and there are creeping indications that the world may not have quite as much need of — or patience for — Olbermann and his shtick as it once did.

Ratings for Olbermann’s Countdown have been soft recently, and the 8 p.m. shows on CNN and HLN have narrowed the gap. In the important demographic of adults 25 to 54 — the group advertisers are looking to reach — Countdown was down 44% year-over-year in January. It averaged 268,000 viewers in that demo, only 3,000 more than Nancy Grace’s show on HLN, and 12,000 more than CNN’s Campbell Brown. Fox News’s O’Reilly Factor dominated the hour with 964,000 viewers age 25 to 54, and was the only cable news show in the time period to increase its audience, by 55%.

Olbermann can console himself with the fact that he still has highest ratings at MSNBC. Of course, that’s kind of like bragging that you’re the tallest Munchkin.

Delusional Keith Olbermann defends his rapidly eroding ratings

The delusional Keith Olbermann seems outraged – absolutely outraged – that several media outlets said his program is in danger of being cancelled due to low ratings.

The delusional Keith Olbermann seems outraged – absolutely outraged – that several media outlets said his program is in danger of being canceled due to low ratings.

He refuted the vile rumor that his ratings are spiraling downward at an ever-increasing rate.

“First the small picture on how conservatives come to believe the crazy, nonsensical, totally fact-free things they believe,” Olbermann said. “How they transform discernible, provable lies into their wishful thinking version of the truth.” He then insisted that stories of his plummeting ratings are a figment of conservatives’ imaginations and even bragged that the program’s audience has grown.

Just one problem. OIbermann is flat-out lying. His ratings are going down. Big time. For example, here’s a comparison of Thursday, February 5 of this year and Thursday, February 4 of last year.

Of course, we know critics will say, “Well, sure, but one night doesn’t prove anything.” To which we say, “Shut the hell up, morons. These numbers are pretty damn indicative of the overall trends.”

Network/Host                   2-5-2009         2-4-2010
Fox, O’Reilly                        3,839,000          4,176,000
CNN, Brown                         1,497,000            585,000
MSNBC, Olbermann              1,475,000            917,000
HLN, Grace                          1,285,000            967,000

Bottom line: Olbermann’s audience is rapidly dwindling away, no matter how he chooses to spin it otherwise.

As the chart shows, a year ago his total audience often approached 1,500,000 viewers (on Thursday, February 5, 2009 it was 1,475,000). This year it usually comes in under 1,000,000 total viewers (on Thursday, February 4, 2010 it was a mere 917,000).

Obviously, the same math used by the President to explain how ObamaCare won’t grow the deficit is being used by Olbermann to explain how his ratings are growing instead of shrinking. And we suspect the same math is also being used to explain the number of jobs created or saved and maybe even how the world is heating instead of cooling.

Aha! It’s Lib Math. It all makes sense now.
