Hatch: Don’t block vote on SCOTUS nominee

Hatch: Don’t block vote on SCOTUS nominee. The RINO circus is starting. Prepare to bend forward and grab you ankles. It’s becoming obvious the Republicans do not want to win this election. What better way to do it than piss off almost every Republican in the country by giving something to Obama he doesn’t deserve?

Mitch McConnell stands at the crux of U.S. history

Mitch McConnell stands at the crux of U.S. history.

This is perhaps the most important judicial appointment in the history of the United States.

We’re already seeing rumors of Mitch McConnell folding on Obama’s new SCOTUS nominee, something Mitch and much of the GOPe seem to be professionals at.

Democrats including Obama, the Clintons, Sanders, Schumer, Reid and a host of others smell blood and the pressure is on to get McConnell to cave in and let Obama have his way again.

What they’re trying to foist upon everyone including McConnell is that the Senate must act on Obama’s candidate, there’s only a limited amount of time, they must hold a hearing and vote, none of which is correct. They know the  Senate is under no constitutional obligation to do anything with any appointee but they’ll keep the pressure on.

McConnell has two choices. He fold or he can man up, cross his arms, tell Grassley to shut up about hearings and simply tell Obama “NO!” This is what puts McConnell at the crux of U.S. history.

The latter means Obama will not be making any lame duck appointments and could provide an opportunity for a new Republican president to appoint a new conservative justice. The worst case is that Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders will make an appointment that could still be somewhat controlled if a Republican majority with some backbone still holds the Senate.

Think about things like: if you like gay marriage you’ll love people marrying their pets, parents, brothers and sisters. You’ll love billions of  new “immigrants,” free everything, living in Soviet style cement housing with 5 families to an apartment, Sharia Law, no Constitution, the death of Christianity and gulags. When they run out of other people’s money the fun will really begin. (Think Venezuela)

A lot of Republicans stayed home during the last election. If Mitch folds, watch the number of ticked off Republican voters who will stay home increase by millions. There will be no need to vote because it won’t matter whether you vote for Trump, Bush, Kasich, Carson, Rubio or Snoopy, it’s over.

So Mitch? Do you want to go down in history as Senate Leader by actually leading? Or do you want to go down in history as Obama’s Bitch Mitch, destroyer of the Republic?

FLASHBACK: In 2007, Schumer Called For Blocking All Bush Supreme Court Nominations

FLASHBACK: In 2007, Schumer Called For Blocking All Bush Supreme Court Nominations.  Old Chucky will be squealing like a stuck pig when the Republicans hold up Obama’s nominees.

Obama and Democrats condemned reconciliation in 2005 when Republicans threatened to use it

First, here’s a 2005 video in which Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid says Republicans should stop complaining about the Democrats’ plan to force ObamaCare into law via the reconciliation process. Now here’s another video recorded this week in which poor old feeble-minded Harry doesn’t seem to remember what he and his cohorts said way back to 2005. If you haven’t time to watch it nor read the transcript, let us summarize it for you.

“Waaaaaaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaa!”

Looks like the Dems didn’t like the concept of the nuclear option until they and their lackeys in the media gave it the kinder, gentler name of reconciliation.Obama: He hasn’t gotten his way. And that is now prompting, you know, a change in the Senate rules that really, I think, would change the character of the Senate forever. And what I worry about would be that essentially you have two chambers, the House and the Senate, but you have simply majoritarian absolute power on either side. And that’s just not what the Founders intended.

Hillary: So this President has come to the majority here in the Senate and basically said, “Change the rules. Do it the way I want it done.” And I guess there just weren’t very many voices on the other side of the aisle that acted the way previous generations have acted and said, “Mr. President, we’re with you, we support you, but that’s a bridge too far. We can’t go there. You have to restrain yourself, Mr. President.”

Schumer: We are on the precipice of a crisis. A constitutional crisis. The checks and balances which have been at the core of this republic are about to be evaporated by the nuclear option. The checks and balances which say that if you get fifty-one percent of the vote you don’t get your way 100% of the time. It is amazing. It is almost a temper tantrum.

Upon further review, the call on the field in the Senate will stand

Democrat Senator Tom Udall “…introduced a resolution on Monday that would give the Senate the ability to vote on its own rules and regulations every two years….such as the rule that 60 votes are needed to end debate on legislation. In short: the filibuster could be drastically changed from its current incarnation.”

Jimmy Stewart could teach the Republicans a thing or two about conducting a filibuster.

The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly submitted a rule change to the NFL asking that interceptions thrown by a legendary quarterback not count. They may have gotten the idea from the Democratic party’s move to eliminate the filibuster.

Democrat Senator Tom Udall “…introduced a resolution on Monday that would give the Senate the ability to vote on its own rules and regulations every two years….such as the rule that 60 votes are needed to end debate on legislation. In short: the filibuster could be drastically changed from its current incarnation.”

But what have the Democratic leaders said about the filibuster in the past?

In his 2008 book “The Good Fight”, Harry Reid compared lowering the filibuster threshold to “opening Pandora’s Box.”

“It was just a matter of time before a Senate leader who couldn’t get his way on something moved to eliminate the filibuster for regular business,” Reid wrote. “And that, simply put, would be the end of the United States Senate”

But Reid is far from the only prominent Democrat now in danger of having to eat his own words.

“The American people want less partisanship in this town,” then Senator Obama said in a 2005 speech, “but everyone in this chamber knows that if the majority chooses to end the filibuster — if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate — then the fighting and the bitterness and the gridlock will only get worse,” Obama said in the April 2005 speech in Washington.”

Unfortunately for the left, changing the filibuster rules will have zero effect on what’s really preventing the Democrats from passing any meaningful legislation. Because they are their own biggest problem.

As the old saying goes, “You can’t legislate away stupidity.”

Dorgan decides not to get his ass kicked, Politico tells a different story

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Tuesday night that he would retire rather than run for reelection this year, a surprise move that imperils the Democrats’ 60-seat majority next year.

We won't miss Byron Dorgan, but we will miss his comb-over

Reality has left the building over at Politico.com. Here’s how they reported the announcement by North Dakota’s Byron Dorgan announcement that he was retiring from the senate:

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Tuesday night that he would retire rather than run for reelection this year, a surprise move that imperils the Democrats’ 60-seat majority next year.

Dorgan wasn’t facing serious opposition in what would have been a campaign for his fourth term, but North Dakota’s popular Republican Gov. John Hoeven is considering a bid and was leading in early polls.

No serious opposition? To say that Hoeven is leading in the early polls is like saying the Indians had a slight lead on Custer. Here’s how Rasmussen reports that non-serious opposition:

Incumbent Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan may have a serious problem on his hands if Republicans recruit Governor John Hoeven to run for the U.S. Senate in North Dakota next year.

The first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 telephone survey of likely voters in North Dakota finds the popular Republican governor leading Dorgan by 22 points – 58% to 36%. Just six percent (6%) are undecided in that senatorial contest.

Other polls show Dorgan trailing by more than 30 points. How much more serious can the opposition get, Politico?

Ed Schultz to run for Dorgan’s seat? Alert the death squad, because we’re dying laughing

Here’s Ed Schultz pretending to be emotionally overwhelmed. Hilarious. Yet here he is on MSNBC with Alex Witt, revealing the fact that he’s been approached to run for Byron Dorgan’s senate seat.

Here’s Ed Schultz pretending to be emotionally overwhelmed. Hilarious. Yet here he is on MSNBC with Alex Witt, revealing the fact that he’s been approached to run for Byron Dorgan’s senate seat.

Witt: We’re going back to Ed right now because you got a pretty important phone call, and what did they ask of you, the Democrat Party?
Schultz: Well, last night when Sen. Dorgan was talking to me, he asked me how old I was. And I went, “Uh-oh!”
Witt: This is not for a birthday card.
Schultz: Yeah, I did get a phone call this morning from Merle Boucher who is the House Democratic Leader and he asked me to consider to run for the United States Senate seat in the state of North Dakota. I asked him very point blank, “Is this an official ask?” He said, “Yes it is.”

Senator Edward (we assume he would begin going by the more formal name) Schultz. Funniest thing we ever heard. Except for when we heard that Al Franken was running for the senate. Anyone heard how that turned out?

By the way, has there ever been a senator with a stranger name than Byron Dorgan? It sounds like someone speaking nonsense Swedish.

OK, we’re done rambling now. We’ll stop.

Robert Byrd rushed to hospital after fall, Massachusetts legislature races to name replacement

In response to Senator Robert Bryd being hospitalized, and fresh from rushing through a bill that will allow them to overrule themselves and appoint a temporary replacement for Senator Ted Kennedy, the Massachusetts legislature introduced a bill that would allow them to name replacement senators from any state.

Senator down, Senator down. ABC News reports on West Virginia Democrat Robert Byrd’s latest health problems:

Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.V., will remain in the hospital for “a few days” after falling down Tuesday morning in his Northern Virginia home, his office said in a statement.

In addition to his fall, the 91-year-old senator has an elevated white cell count, a possible sign of an infection.

In response, and fresh from rushing through a bill that will allow them to overrule themselves and appoint a temporary replacement for Senator Ted Kennedy, the Massachusetts legislature introduced a bill that would allow them to name replacement senators from any state.

“‘Senator Mike Dukakis, Democrat from West Virginia’ has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?” asked one unidentified Massachusetts legislator.

Culture of Corruption Update: Democrats three times more cultured than Republicans

The face of corruption in Washington, DC. And a lovely face it is.
The face of corruption in Washington, DC. And a lovely face it is.

Funny thing. We’re not hearing the Democrats bang that culture of corruption drum much these days. Maybe it’s because they cleaned up all the corruption.

Just kidding.

It’s actually because the overwhelming number of politicians under investigation in Washington, DC these days are – drum roll, please – Democrats.

Fact is, there are now 12 active investigations looking into Democrats and only 4 looking into Republicans.

Democratic members of Congress under investigation: Sanford Bishop of Georgia, Jesse Jackson of Illinois, Allan Mollohan of West Virginia, John Murtha of Pennsylvania, Charlie Rangel of New York, Linda Sanchez of California, Loretta Sanchez of California, Pete Visclosky of Indiana.

Democratic Senators under investigation: Roland Burris of Illinois, Kent Conrad of North Dakota, Bob Menendez of New Jersey.

Republican members of Congress under investigation: Jerry Lewis of California, Garry Miller of California, Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania, Don Young of Alaska.

Republican Senators under investigation: None.

Sad to say, we don’t attribute this to any great sense of honesty on the part of the Republicans. It’s more likely that they’re just so weak and ineffectual that they’re not worth trying to corrupt them anymore.

Porn on the bayou: Adult film star running for US Senate in Louisiana

Stormy Daniels may get elected due to outstanding word of mouth.
Stormy Daniels may get elected due to outstanding word of mouth.
Stormy Daniels, who’s gunning for David Vitter’s U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana, is not your typical political candidate.

She’s makes adult movies. But she’s not just a porn star. She’s also a porn writer, director and producer.

Next week Stormy’s launching a “Listening Tour” across Louisiana. She’s hitting Baton Rouge on Tuesday and New Orleans on Wednesday to find out about the issues and concerns of Louisiana’s regular people.

“I wanted to take over the world and I guess ‘senator’ is a good place to start, right?” Ms. Daniels observed. “I’ve been handed a golden opportunity and I should take advantage of it.”

Daniels doesn’t think her career will be a problem for the voters of Louisiana, because David Vitter, her Republican opponent has his own sex issues. In 2007 he was connected to Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the “D.C. Madam” via phone records.

Stormy Daniels. She may be the first candidate in history to announce in advance that she’s willing to screw her constituents.

Financial crisis solved, so Senate moves on to football crisis

The United States Senate has moved seamlessly from pork to pigskins.
The United States Senate has moved seamlessly from pork to pigskins.

What? The financial crisis hasn’t been solved? Then why the hell is the senate talking wasting time on football?

Here’s how AP reports the latest complete waste of time and money coming out of the United States Senate:

Now senators are getting off the sidelines to examine antitrust issues involving the Bowl Champion Series.

The current system “leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year,” the Senate Judiciary’s subcommittee on antitrust, competition policy and consumer rights said in a statement Wednesday announcing the hearings.

Under the BCS, some conferences get automatic bids to participate in series, while others do not.

Obama and some members of Congress favor a playoff-type system to determine the national champion. The BCS features a championship game between the two top teams in the BCS standings, based on two polls and six computer ratings.

For God’s sake, man. Who cares if Associated Press poll picks USC and the Coaches Poll picks LSU and the computers pick Texas. Don’t these people have better things to do?

We just checked with the sports book in Vegas. Odds are 7-1 that the United States Senate is filled with brain-addled morons. 3-1 its filled with corrupt rip-off artists. And 2-1 it’s filled with bloviating blockheads.

Porn star runs for Senate, seems perfectly qualified

stormy_danielsAdult film star Stormy Daniels says she may run against Louisiana Republican Senator David Vitter. Vitter, who was named in a Washington, DC prostitution ring, calls himself a social conservative.

“I don’t see how I can possibly embarrass him more than he already embarrassed himself…,” Daniels said. “Honestly, I’m not sure I’m willing to take the pay cut that comes with being a senator.”

This is like the old joke about the gorgeous woman who sits down next to a guy in a bar. He turns to her and says, “Would you have sex with me for $1,000,000.

“Well, that’s a lot of money,” she says. “I guess I would.”

He says, “How about $10?”

She’s shocked. She’s furious. “What do you take me for,” she says, “some kind of whore?”

“We’ve already established that,” he says, “now we’re just haggling about price.”

We know what Senators are. Why not just elect someone who’s willing to admit she’ll screw us all if the money’s right.
