American media ignores bungling Obama, British media irate

President Obama bungled meetings this week with America’s most important ally. The British are irate about it.

First, Obama unceremoniously returned a bust of Winston Chuchill the Brits had given to President Bush right after 9-11. Then, he snubbed Prime Minister Gordon Brown by deciding he wasn’t important enough to merit a joint press conference. Finally, after Brown was thoughtful enough to present Obama with a beautiful pen holder hand-carved from a plank from a former anti-slavery ship, Obama reciprocated by giving Brown a collection of DVDs.

The Brits are up in arms. Editorial after editorial and article after article has ripped Obama’s trashing of the “special relationship” the two countries share. But the story has been ignored by the adoring American media. For example, a Google News search for “Obama, “British,” and “25 DVDs” turns up a mere 21 stories, including reprints in various publications.

We can’t even say it’s a case of conservative-liberal bias, because a search for “Hillary,” “Europe,” and “reset” turns up 249,000 stories and her gaffe only happened on Friday. No, this is strictly a case of the media protecting its investment in Barack Obama.

Gordon Brown may be rethinking his earlier comments in this video.

Maybe this is because Obama is trying to let your British government realize that he didn’t like how much the British bent over and took it from the Bush administration so much!

Those of us who voted for McCain saw this type of behavior coming. We hate to say we told you so, but we did. Be careful what you wish for. This is only the beginning.

Wait, why would Obama want to keep a gift given (actually loaned) to a former president? Especially if Obama is trying to distance himself from this former president … if it is all about this gifts, any reactions from the media would just be as bad as Octomom! Shouldn’t we be more concerned about what they talked about policies-wise and cooperation between the two nations in a post-Bush era?

I was amused during the campaign when Hillary was trying to make the experience argument. Both of the democrats were neophytes compared with McCain. Now what I’m sensing is that neither of them has any advisors. I’m certain somebody from the British embassy called to find out the Obama children’s dress sizes. I’m also certain that the British told their diplomatic counterparts what the gifts would be just so that such an embarrassment didn’t happen. The British have been doing this sort of thing for 800 plus years. And, surely there is somebody in the State Department who could translate “Reset.” Suddenly, it’s as if the United States has been reborn as a baby and the world will have to suffer through our teething problems as an armature government tries to have a rich and sustained dialog with “moderate” Hamas, “moderate” Iranians, and “moderate” Taliban. I’m sure we’ll find plenty of common ground with people who want all Americans of any ilk dead.

The administration returning a bust of Churchill to the Brits is like Stevie Wonder returning a grammie. It begs the question WHY? Because Winnie was never a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER you dummies.

How many times can I say to the Brits I’m so sorry. I didn’t vote for this ignorant, tacky, classless, nouveau riche boob. But if I recall, it seemed many across the pond were just as in love with him as many here. The truth always comes out.
