Here we go again. Affirmative action run amok.
A Naval Academy professor says the Naval Academy is so intent on developing a more diverse collection of midshipmen that it has unofficially set up separate policies for white and nonwhite applicants.
Bruce Fleming says the academy’s admissions board uses more lenient standards for candidates who check the the black, Latino or Asian box on the application. He says too many of the nonwhite midshipmen in his classes just aren’t qualified for college-level work.
“The academy is like a team,” Fleming said “…where we choose a remedial player, where there’s no guarantee you can even remediate him.”
Officials from the Naval Academy dispute Fleming’s assertions and say the reason for the record number of nonwhite midshipmen is that their recruiting pitch targeted to nonwhite students.
They call this diversity? We say, “Hah!”
What about illegal alien midshipmen? What about militant Muslim midshipmen? What about Chinese spy midshipmen? Unfortunately, the ACLU is probably working on the lawsuit as we speak.
