Like Charlie apparently did.
Luke Russert is amazed – absolutely amazed – that black Republican candidates want to be endorsed by the Tea Party people. ‘Cause they’re racists, you know. “These folks are actually soliciting support from the Tea Party,” Russert said, “a group that a lot of folks have claimed to be racist against African Americans.”

“These folks are actually soliciting support from the Tea Party,” Russert said, “a group that a lot of folks have claimed to be racist against African Americans. These folks actually see them as the ones they want in their tent as a path to victory.”
Far as we’re concerned, there’s only one thing worse than young Mr. Russert being shocked by the thought of a black Republican. And that would be his remarkably mangled syntax.
Four boys at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli were3 sent home for wearing T-shirts with the American flag on them, on Cinco de Mayo. So that’s where we are in 2010. Displaying the American flag in the United States on a foreign holiday is now a bad thing. Political correctness run amok.
Black is white. Up is down. In is out. Patriotism is un-American.
NBC Bay Area has the details of this insane story:
On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli and his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.
Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal’s office.
“They said we could wear it on any other day,” Daniel Galli said, “but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it’s supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today.”
The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts “incendiary” that would lead to fights on campus.
So that’s where we are in 2010. Displaying the American flag in the United States on a foreign holiday is now a bad thing.
Political correctness run amok.

To the best of our knowledge, Taylor has no particular expertise in chemical engineering, fluid dynamics nor dairy farming. Yet that didn’t stop him from making some “interesting” comments upon touchdown.
The Sun Herald reports on the Democrat’s brilliance:
Taylor told a group of reporters waiting at Atlantic Aviation he was less concerned about the spill after witnessing its movement firsthand.
“This isn’t Katrina. It’s not Armageddon,” Taylor said. “A lot of people are scared and I don’t think they should be.”
He described the spill as a light, rainbow sheen with patches that look like chocolate milk.
Of course, we hope that the estimations of the esteemed Mr. Taylor are correct and that much of the worry is unfounded.
But if he has any doubt about how important it is to be prepared for the worst in the face of an impending disaster, perhaps he should consult with Ray Nagin. You know, that other southern politician with something really stupid to say about chocolate.

Immediately after the Times Square bombing, left wing pundits quickly tried and convicted some unknown, unnamed group of right wing domestic terrorists.
This is not the original video we had up; it was “removed by user.” We’ve replaced it with one that is on the same subject, but sadly, not as good.
Immediately after the Times Square bombing, left wing pundits quickly tried and convicted some unknown, unnamed group of right wing domestic terrorists.
But when it was discovered that the crime was committed by yet another Muslim terrorist, the story immediately flipped to “The poor terrorists will become victims of rightwing racism.”
So which group do you fall into? Right wing domestic terrorist? Right wing racist? Or both?
Eric Holder would like to position last weekend’s narrow escape in Times Square as evidence of his department’s remarkable competence, but Shepard Smith ain’t buying it.
Eric Holder would like to position last weekend’s narrow escape in Times Square as evidence of his department’s remarkable competence, but Shepard Smith ain’t buying it.
In this clip, he repeatedly emphasizes that the narrow escape should be attributed to luck instead of Justice Department skill.
Mediaite has the telling tale of the Times Square dud:
Covering the latest Justice Department press conference with Fox News correspondent Catherine Herridge, Smith repeatedly emphasized that the bomb was faulty, police were notified of the suspicious vehicle only after the bomb’s detonator had failed. In his opinion, Attorney General Eric Holder was giving too much credit to the civilian who notified the authorities as the bomb had already “gone off” when he called the police. Holder had stated that the alert bystander “helped save lives, and thwarted a potentially devastating attack,” to which Smith replied: “this bomb was not thwarted – this bomb failed.”
Smith’s issue was not with the civilian, who he praised, but with the federal authorities, which he speculated wanted to be able to use the instance as proof of their successes in the future:
“I can think of a lot of different reasons that they would want this. For instance, down the road, next time something happens, they can say ‘we thwarted Christmas Day’ and ‘we thwarted Times Square,’ but that wouldn’t be the case. And part of our job, I think, is to not allow revisionist history to take over.”
Revisionist history is bad enough, but this administration is so brazen that we also have to worry about revisionist current events.

The highlight? When the other reporters cheer as Kinsolving offered Gibbs some constructive suggestions on the proper way to handle briefings and press conferences.

Fortunately, as Rasmussen reveals, it worked about as well as the you might have expected:
Following weekend protests against the new Arizona law cracking down on illegal immigration, support for the Arizona policy remains unchanged.
However, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 25% have a favorable view of those who marched and protested for immigrant rights in major cities. Fifty percent (50%) hold an unfavorable opinion and another 26% are not sure.
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of voters still favor legislation like Arizona’s that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant. Thirty-two percent (32%) oppose such a law. Those figures are virtually unchanged from a week ago.
Rasmussen is obviously a Nazi, too.

There’s a famous ad campaign for Rolling Stone Magazine that compared “reality” to “perception.” Remember that when you compare the perception and reality of the Obama administration’s reaction to the Gulf oil blow out.
Here’s the New York Times (yes, believe it or not, the New York Times) damning the President and his cohorts:

…it takes the administration more than a week to really get moving.
The timetable is damning. The blowout occurred on April 20. In short order, fire broke out on the rig, taking 11 lives, the rig collapsed and oil began leaking at a rate of 40,000 gallons a day. BP tried but failed to plug the well. Even so, BP appears to have remained confident that it could handle the situation with private resources (as did the administration) until Wednesday night, when, at a hastily called news conference, the Coast Guard quintupled its estimate of the leak to 5,000 barrels, or more than 200,000 gallons a day.
Only then did the administration move into high gear.
That’s reality. But the perception the Obama administration would like you to have is somewhat different:
…that’s why the federal government has launched and coordinated an all-hands-on-deck, relentless response to this crisis from day one.
– President Obama, May 2nd
And if that “Day One” phrase was good enough for the President, it’s good enough for the rest of his administration, damn it:
We had DOD resources there from day one. This was a situation that was treated as a possible catastrophic failure from, from day one…And so the physical response on the ground has been, from, from day one, as if this could be a catastrophic failure.
– Janet Napolitano, Meet the Press, May 2nd
And if Day One is good enough to say once, it’s good enough to say twice:
Newsweek revealed the Mainstream Media’s honeymoon with Obama is over. Now reporters can only find models in cop buddy dramas from the 1970s.

A recent Newsweek article reveals that the Mainstream Media’s honeymoon with the Obama administration is officially over. Once reporters compared Barack Obama and his band of miracle workers to gods and heroes of the American Revolution, now they can only find models in cop buddy dramas from the 1970s.
Newsweek says that Hillary Clinton and Obama are the political equivalent of Starsky and Hutch. Why?
The magazine claims it’s because, like Starsky and Hutch, the two started out as political rivals, but now are working in seamless harmony to solve world peace and end global warming.
Do you remember the episode when Huggy Bear gave Starsky a tip about where the Iranians were storing the nuclear centrifuges?
If the media is running out of dynamic seventies duos to describe Obama and Clinton, here are some other possible analogies.
Laverne and Shirley. Two crazy dames manage to screw up everything, as they try to remain lovable. Special guest appearance by Joe Biden as Squiggy.
Cheech and Chong. The political leanings of these two old hippies may unfortunately too right wing for team Clinton-Obama.
Beau and Luke Duke. Bill Clinton makes guest appearance as Boss Hogg.
What about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?
We’ll let you figure out which one would be Butch.

The Mohammed Image Archive has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of drawings of the Muslim prophet. Many not that Islamist jihads wouldlike.

Our Everybody Draw Al Gore Day competition is spreading across the internet. It has more than 5,400 7,300 Google references now. We don’t know if we’ll actually get any entries, but we’ll get some laughs.
Of course, our idea is a parody of Seattle artist Molly Norris’ brilliant “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.” But Norris quickly canceled that Allah image event out of fatwah phobia.
Fear not, Molly. The Mohammed Image Archive makes our little contests look like…well…little contests. It has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of images and pictures of the Muslim prophet. And at last report, the curator is still enjoying good health.
ZombieTime.com illustrates the story:
The Mohammed Image Archive is a compendium of images that depict Mohammed (the 7th-century founder of Islam), spanning all historical periods, cultures and genres.
The inspiration for this Archive came from the global controversy over the publication of Mohammed cartoons in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, and the need for a comprehensive and even-handed look at the wide variety of Mohammed depictions in Islamic and Western societies from the Middle Ages until today. It will remain online as a resource for those interested in freedom of expression.
This website has Mohammed drawings galore. So many, in fact, that they are divvied up into categories like Islamic Depictions of Mohammed in Full, Islamic Depictions of Mohammed with Face Hidden, European Medieval and Renaissance Images, Dante’s Inferno, Book Covers, Satirical Modern Cartoons, The Jyllands-Posten Cartoons, and our personal favorite, Extreme Mohammed. Allah images, Muhammad pictures, it’s got it all.
Holy friggin’ fatwah.

The Greeks will laugh and dance while the German taxpayers work and sweat.
The Greek economy is a joke. Unfortunately, the joke’s on hard-working German taxpayers who now find themselves forced to bail out their lazy-ass EuroZone neighbors.
Reuters explains how the Hellenistic economy went to hell:
Tens of thousands of unmarried or divorced daughters of civil servants collect their dead parents’ pensions, weighing on a social security system experts say will collapse in 15 years unless it is overhauled….
While the law protects civil servants from dismissal, it allows them to retire with a pension in their 40s.
Greek pension spending is expected to rise by 12 percent of gross domestic product by 2050, according to EU Commission data. That compares with an EU average of less than 3 percent of GDP…
Labour unions foiled government attempts to sell debt-ridden Olympic Airways for decades, costing Greek taxpayers millions while employees enjoyed generous benefits—their family members could fly around the world for free… Olympic was sold in 2008, but only after the state lavishly compensated or re-hired about 4,600 employees…
The state owns 74 companies, mainly utilities and transport firms, many of which are overstaffed and loss-making, the OECD says…
Hundreds of state-appointed committees employ staff though it is not clear what they all do. Greece has a committee to manage Lake Kopais, which dried out in the 1930s…
But nearly 80 percent of Defence Ministry spending goes on administrative costs and payments of army staff.
The Greek Army? Consider that the punchline to Germany’s very expensive joke.

Cash-for-Clunkers was a fiasco. But don’t be surprised if the President tries to stimulate the economy with a new program called “Cash-In-Fashions.” It’ll be a program where you’ll get a new dress when you bring in an old one that can be recycled.

As the New York Times reports, this kind of drastic action may be necessary because the First Lady’s personal fashion designer is closing her doors:
Remember the purple sheath Mrs. Obama wore the night of the fist bump heard round the world? The teal number at the Democratic National Convention? Or the red dress she wore to meet the Bushes on their way out of the White House? Maria Pinto all, designed right here where both women were born and raised and, over the course of one remarkable election, became stars.
So when Ms. Pinto abruptly put up a “closeout sale” sign in the window of her West Loop boutique and announced that she was folding her fashion business, Chicago — and Pinto devotees all over — reacted with disbelief: What in sartorial heaven happened? “I pushed as far as I could,” Ms. Pinto, 53, said in her first lengthy interview since the demise of her store and wholesale operations in mid-February.
Just back from a month’s break in Barcelona, she pointed to the strain that a sour economy had placed on her business just as it was expanding and gaining major traction beyond a loyal Chicago following.
We love this wacky storyline that says Michelle Obama is the new Jackie Kennedy. Her huge booty have been home to some of the worst outfits ever seen on a First Lady.
Maybe Pinto can get a job as a census worker. We hear they’re having trouble filling those jobs.

CO2Science.com takes the “un” out of unprecedented for us:
In the words of the seven scientists, “temperatures during the warmest intervals of the Medieval Warm Period,” which they defined as occurring “some 900 to 1300 years ago,” “were as warm as or slightly warmer than present day Greenland temperatures.”
What it means
As for what this result implies, the researchers conditionally — and rather amusingly — state that further warming of present day Greenland climate “will result in temperature conditions that are warmer than anything seen in the past 1400 years.” But, of course, their work more directly and unconditionally implies that late 20th-century and early 21st-century weather has not yet been warm enough to confer “unprecedented” status upon Greenland air temperatures. What is more, Vinther et al. readily admit that the independent “GRIP borehole temperature inversion suggests that central Greenland temperatures are still somewhat below the high temperatures that existed during the Medieval Warm Period.”
The envelope please…And the 2010 Chicken Little Award for Creative Panic Mongering goes to … Phil Jones.

So what does the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue do when it creates its “public relations” campaign to convince people to pay their taxes in this era of increasing distrust? Latest polls show that Americans no longer like – nor trust – their government.
The job approval rating for Congress, for instance, hovers down around the 20 percent level.
Trust in the government, following a rash of takeovers and bailouts, is also at new lows.
So what does the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue do when it creates its “public relations” campaign to convince people to pay their taxes in this era of increasing distrust?
They put together creepy, malevolent commercials that underscore every Orwellian stereotype you can imagine about state abuse of power. First there’s the satellite imagery and targeting. Then a non-human voice chimes in with threats of “we know where you live.”
If they just had the tag line, “Paying your taxes will set you free,” they’d have officially moved from public service announcement to fascist propaganda.
There’s always a chance they’re working on that now.

What are they slipping in the water over there at the University of East Anglia? First the school was implicated in the ClimateGate scandal and now they’re telling us that animals have a right to privacy.
The Guardian UK spills the beans:
Wildlife documentary makers are infringing animals’ rights to privacy by filming their most private and intimate moments, according to a new study.
Footage of animals giving birth in their burrows or mating crosses an ethical line that film-makers should respect, according to Brett Mills, a lecturer in film studies at the University of East Anglia.
We’re not sure we can trust this information any more than we can trust the University of East Anglia’s ClimateGate numbers.
Obama, the IHTM office cat, is shameless. He will hump anything that moves and a lot of things that don’t. He’s like a feline Bill Clinton. We’ve never attempted to film his amorous actions, but it appears that if he saw a camera, he’d tell us he was ready for his close-up.
