Obama’s no-proof-of-income mortgage scheme fails. Is anyone surprised? Anyone?

President Obama’s vaunted mortgage modification program is a colossal failure. More than a third of the 1.24 million borrowers who have enrolled in the $75 billion mortgage modification program have dropped out.

foreclosure obama program fails
No money down, no problem. No ability to pay the bank, problem.

To no one’s surprise – well, maybe Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd were surprised – President Obama’s vaunted mortgage modification program is a colossal failure.

Forbes.com has the depressing details:

More than a third of the 1.24 million borrowers who have enrolled in the $75 billion mortgage modification program have dropped out. That exceeds the number of people who have managed to have their loan payments reduced to help them keep their homes.

But analysts expect the majority will still wind up in foreclosure and that could slow the broader economic recovery.

A major reason so many have fallen out of the program is the Obama administration initially pressured banks to sign up borrowers without insisting first on proof of their income. When banks later moved to collect the information, many troubled homeowners were disqualified or dropped out.

Many borrowers complained that the banks lost their documents. The industry said borrowers weren’t sending back the necessary paperwork.

“The bank lost my paperwork.” Translation? “This bank is prejudiced. They discriminate against deadbeats like me who have neither the means nor intention to pay them back.”

Paul Ryan says, “Obama wants to out-Europe the Europeans”. And that’s not a compliment.

Unfortunately, when Paul Ryan says Obama wants to out-Europe the Europeans, he’s not talking about the President throwing together his grandmama’s fabulous pâté de foie gras recipe nor dumping Michelle for a hot Italian First Lady like Carla Bruni.

The Economist gives the President a new moniker: Vladimir Obama

The respected international neo-liberal publication The Economist pounds another nail into the Obama administration’s coffin.

It's become increasingly difficult to tell where Vladimir Putin ends and Barack Obama begins

Vladimir Obama. Ouch. Consider it more evidence that Obamanamiacs are the only ones still buying this guy’s act.

The respected international neo-liberal publication The Economist pounds another nail into the Obama administration’s coffin:

Mr Obama is not the socialist the right claims he is. He went out of his way, meeting BP executives on June 16th, to insist that he has no interest in undermining the company’s financial stability. But his reaction is cementing business leaders’ impression that he is indifferent to their concerns. If he sees any impropriety in politicians ordering executives about, upstaging the courts and threatening confiscation, he has not said so. The collapse in BP’s share price suggests that he has convinced the markets that he is an American version of Vladimir Putin, willing to harry firms into doing his bidding.

Nobody should underestimate the scale of BP’s mistake, nor the damage that it has caused. But if the president does not stand up for due process, he will frighten investors across the board. The damage to America’s environment is bad enough. The president risks damaging its economy too.

Bad as “Vladimir Obama” sounds, the geniuses in this administration may not recognize it as an insult. They’re probably giving each other congratulatory slaps on the back and saying, “Well, at least they didn’t call him Adolf Obama.”

Now Obama administration argues in court that individual mandate really is a tax

Oh, how times change. Now the Obama Administration is arguing in court that the healthcare individual mandate really is a tax.

In case you’ve tried to block the whole ObamaCare debate from your mind, this video clip shows President Obama sternly correcting George Stephanopolous when the ABC host called the individual mandate “a tax.”

Oh, how times change. Now the administration is arguing in court that it really is a tax.

Spectator.org has the mind-boggling story:

Obama says, “If we secure the border, you won’t have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform”

Here’s an interesting video clip that demonstrates the lengths to which President Obama will go to pass what is laughingly called “comprehensive immigration reform.”

Here’s an interesting video clip that demonstrates the lengths to which President Obama will go to pass what is laughingly called “comprehensive immigration reform.”

Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl told a North Tempe Tea Party town hall meeting that during a private tête-à-tête in the Oval Office, President Obama told him, “The problem is…if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform.”

The Tea Party crowd was shocked. You can hear their gasps on the video (at 3:45).

“In other words,” Senator Kyl said, “they’re holding it hostage. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”

Bottom line: The illegals are crossing the border. Obama’s crossing the American people.

U.S. News says, “World sees Obama as incompetent and amateur”

Barack Obama, who was sold to the American people as the most intelligent, most competent presidential candidate ever, is beginning to look like he’s not competent to run a hotel on Baltic Avenue, much less the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Perception is reality: How our friends and enemies perceive Barack Obama

Barack Obama, who was sold to the American people as the most intelligent, most competent presidential candidate ever, is beginning to look like he’s not competent to run a hotel on Baltic Avenue, much less the house at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The latest issue of U.S. News takes a look at the results of the last 17 months:

The end result is that a critical mass of influential people in world affairs who once held high hopes for the president have begun to wonder whether they misjudged the man.

They are no longer dazzled by his rock star personality and there is a sense that there is something amateurish and even incompetent about how Obama is managing U.S. power…

America right now appears to be unreliable to traditional friends, compliant to rivals, and weak to enemies. One renowned Asian leader stated recently at a private dinner in the United States, “We in Asia are convinced that Obama is not strong enough to confront his opponents, but we fear that he is not strong enough to support his friends.”

Why so harsh, Newsweek? The guy plays a mean game of golf and doesn’t he deserve a little credit for that?

Rachel Maddow jumps on the Presidential dog pile, wants “adult talk” from President Obama

Seems like everyone reported the Olbermann, Matthews, Fineman snit fit, but falling through the cracks was Rachel Maddow jumping on the presidential dog pile.

Tuesday night’s speech from the Oval Office seems to have amused the right and really annoyed the left.

Seems like everyone reported the Olbermann, Matthews, Fineman snit fit, but falling through the cracks was Rachel Maddow jumping on the presidential dog pile.

After leading off with a big sigh, Maddow said, “In the big picture I am excited to see the President treating this with the gravity of something that requires and Oval Office address to the nation. In terms of the content of that address to the nation…I think the country is ahead of the politicians, that we all need to hear a little bit more, and I think we could have all taken a little bit more adult talk from the President.”

Like we said, those of us on the right are amused. Not so much by what Obama said, but by what his strongest supporters said.

Is reality finally setting in? Nah, next time a major policy issue arises, they’ll be drawn back to him like a moth to a flame. Or like flies to shit. Take your choice.

U.S. expands sanctions list aimed at Iran’s nukes. Blather. Rinse. Repeat.

For anyone who hasn’t lived in a cave for the last twenty years, it is painfully obvious that “sanctions” never work. It’s pretty much the equivalent of a “time out” for a serial killer, or in this case a deranged dictator – same thing.

For anyone who hasn’t lived in a cave for the last twenty years, it is painfully obvious that “sanctions” never work. It’s pretty much the equivalent of a “time out” for a serial killer, or in this case a deranged dictator – same thing.

The Obama administration has a problem with history. They haven’t read it and are rushing to repeat all the mistakes.

The Associated Press reports on Obama’s historical myopia:

The targets include five companies and 90 ships that Iran used to evade three previous rounds of sanctions, said Stuart Levey, Treasury’s undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence. Levey said Iran even renamed and repainted some ships to try to evade recognition.

Marina Ottaway, a fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, said she doubts sanctions will push Iran to ditch its nuclear program. “I can’t think of any example of a regime that has been brought to its knees by sanctions,” she said. “Sanctions are an expression of frustration by the countries that enforce them.”

Well, now Miss Ottaway, we beg to differ. We have some ideas for sanctions that will bring Iran to its knees faster than Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office. How about embargoing:

Embargo Item #5: If it continues threatening Israel, Iran may need a lot of these radioactive signs

1. No more “Baywatch” DVDs for Mahmoud.

2. No more goat lingerie for Victoria’s Secret Tehran.

3. No more of those “Miami Vice” stubble razors for Iranian men.

4. No more copies of Mein Kampf for Iranian libraries.

5. No more of those helpful “Radioactive” warning signs.

6. No more designer label dynamite vests.

George Washington said, “It is much easier at all times to prevent an evil than to rectify mistakes.”

Barack Obama said he would sit down with any of our enemies without preconditions.

We think we’ll go with Washington on this one.

The love affair is over: British media dumps Obama

The BBC reports of Barack Obama’s speech last night are about as derisive as it would be possible to be about someone you were describing only a few months ago as the incarnation of Hope and Optimism. Yes indeed, the romance is over.

average-englishman
Pip, pip, cheerio! Barack Obama has lost the average Englishman (yes, we know this is a photo of John Steed)

Kaput is the word that best describes Barack Obama’s once torrid love affair with the British media.

And while seventeen months can’t exactly be called a one-night stand, the Telegraph UK reports on President Obama’s walk of shame:

The BBC reports of Barack Obama’s speech last night are about as derisive as it would be possible to be about someone you were describing only a few months ago as the incarnation of Hope and Optimism. Yes indeed, the romance is over. The British media have decided that it was all a cruel deception: Obama is just one more ranting populist president who will do anything to divert attention from his own failure to get a grip. And this is not just about BP and the fate of all those pension funds.

Nor is it simply the demonising of Big Oil – which makes the US president sound as if he were recruiting his speech writers direct from the student union – that has evoked the UK media’s collective sneer. What has been much commented upon – especially by those fastidiously liberal BBC correspondents – is Obama’s pointedly bellicose language: the US is apparently engaged in a “battle” to be waged in very personal, anthropomorphic terms “against an oil spill that is assaulting” its coast. Considering how relentlessly the Bush “war on terror” was ridiculed, how long will it take before the Obama “war on an oil slick” is labelled as absurd? Given the tone of this morning’s coverage, perhaps not very long at all.

Lyndon Johnson famously said, “If I’ve lost Walter Cronkite, I’ve lost middle America.”

Barack Obama can now say, “If I’ve lost the British media, I’ve lost something, but I’m not sure what it is because my Teleprompter seems to be on the fritz.”

Louisiana residents think Bush did a better job on Katrina than Obama’s doing on the Gusher in the Gulf

Those people who say the Gusher in the Gulf is Obama’s Katrina moment are absolutely wrong. It’s actually his Hindenberg moment. His Titanic moment. His people-have-figured-out-that-I’m-a-fraud moment.

Those people who say the Gusher in the Gulf is Obama’s Katrina moment are absolutely wrong. It’s actually his Hindenberg moment. His Titanic moment. His people-have-figured-out-that-I’m-a-fraud moment.

Want proof? Check out the results of a new poll from left-leaning Public Policy Polling, a left-leaning polling organization:

50% of voters in the state, even including 31% of Democrats, give Bush higher marks on that question compared to 35% who pick Obama.

Overall only 32% of Louisianans approve of how Obama has handled the spill to 62% who disapprove. 34% of those polled say they approved of how Bush dealt with Katrina to 58% who disapproved.

There is some good news in the PPP poll. But it’s not for President Obama.

If there’s any ‘winner’ in this unfortunate event it’s Governor Bobby Jindal. 63% of voters approve of the job he’s doing, the best PPP has found for any Senator or Governor so far in 2010. There’s an even higher level of support, at 65%, for how he’s handled the aftermath of the spill.

Remember when Bobby Jindal gave the response to one of Obama’s earlier speeches and the libs howled because he wasn’t a silver-tongued orator like Obama?

Louisiana residents might just tell you that Obama’s all talk, but Jindal’s let his actions do the talking.

Obama meets with BP officials for 20 minutes, just about long enough to take care of introductions

BP executives, including Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, CEO Tony Hayward and BP U.S. boss Lamar McKay, were seen walking into the West Wing of the White House just before 10 a.m. ET for talks with Obama that were scheduled to last 20 minutes.

Reuters has the details of the first Oval Office quickie since Bill met Monica:

President Barack Obama will confront BP Plc on Wednesday with a demand that it set aside billions of dollars to pay damages from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the worst in U.S. history.

BP executives, including Chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg, CEO Tony Hayward and BP U.S. boss Lamar McKay, were seen walking into the West Wing of the White House just before 10 a.m. ET for talks with Obama that were scheduled to last 20 minutes.

20 minutes? Here’s what happens in 20 minutes. You usher the three BP officials into the Oval Office, everyone introduces themselves, they shake hands, take their seats, Barack gives the White House steward his coffee order and the BP officials give him their tea orders, Obama thanks them for coming, tells them he certainly didn’t mean it when he threatened to kick someone’s ass and “How about that Laker game last night”, the coffee and tea arrive too late for them to drink it, they stand up, shake hands again and leave.

That’s 20 minutes.

When Obama said the Gusher in the Gulf was like 9-11, it was obviously a typo. It was supposed to read “the oil spill is like 9+11.”

Helen Thomas just said what Barack Obama believes

No one should have been surprised by Thomas’ outburst. Despite the White House’s tepid relatively condemnation of Thomas, the fact is that she was merely parroting what Barack Obama believes.

Are these people pre-occupied with Israeli occupation?

Helen Thomas said of the Israelis, “Tell ‘em to get the hell out of Palestine. Remember these people are occupied and it’s their land. It’s not Germany. It’s not Poland. They could go home to Poland, Germany, and America. And everywhere else.”

No one should have been surprised by Thomas’ outburst. Despite the White House’s tepid relatively condemnation of Thomas, the fact is that she was merely parroting what Barack Obama believes.

Note this quote from his June 4, 2009 speech to the Muslim world in Cairo:

On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people — Muslims and Christians — have suffered in pursuit of a homeland. For more than 60 years they’ve endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead. They endure the daily humiliations — large and small — that come with occupation. So let there be no doubt: The situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. And America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own. (Applause.)

This quote comes from WhiteHouse.gov and we really appreciate the way the White House emphasized that the Muslim audience applauded the line about the Jewish occupiers.

It’s kind of like the situation the Japanese faced in 1944. We were kicking their asses all across the Pacific and their leaders kept telling themselves, “If we can just get the Americans into one final, decisive battle, we can still win this thing.”

Olbermann, Matthews, Fineman take turns ripping Obama’s “unpresidential” oil speech

RealClearPolitics has this handy, dandy summary of the trio’s disappointment:

Olbermann: “It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days.”

Matthews: compared Obama to Carter.

Olbermann: “Nothing specific at all was said.”

Matthews: “No direction.”

Fineman: “He wasn’t specific enough.”

Olbermann: “I don’t think he aimed low, I don’t think he aimed at all. It’s startling.”

Fineman: Obama should be acting like a “commander-in-chief.”

Matthews: Ludicrous that he keeps saying [Secretary of Energy] Chu has a Nobel prize. “I’ll barf if he does it one more time.”

Matthews: “A lot of meritocracy, a lot of blue ribbon talk.”

Matthews: “I don’t sense executive command.”

Say goodnight, Mr. President. When you’ve lost MSNBC, you’ve lost several dozen Americans.

Haaretz reports the latest Mid East diplomatic dust-up:

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is opposed to lifting the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip because this would bolster Hamas, according to what he told United States President Barack Obama during their meeting at the White House Wednesday. Egypt also supports this position.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once more put off announcing the creation of a committee of inquiry into the naval commando raid on the Gaza Strip flotilla, and the matter will not be brought before the cabinet for a vote this morning.

Netanyahu and his advisers had hoped to announce the establishment of a committee of inquiry as early as yesterday evening for a vote in the cabinet today. Nonetheless, the Prime Minister’s Bureau said yesterday evening that the conditions have not matured for such an announcement “due to political reasons.”

Unfreakinbelievable. We’re left with the remarkable spectacle of the Israel agreeing with the “moderate” terrorists and the our President siding with the “radical” terrorists.
