It’s a reconciliation nation and Barack Obama is the king.
We don’t know Maksim, but take a look at his site. Just our opinion, but we don’t think anyone on the internet can match his mad PhotoShop skills. He’s also a full blown pseudo-Communist, which is, of course, the best kind of Communist.
Thanks to the miracle that is Libya’s healthcare system, the Lockerbie bomber is alive and well.
al-Megrahi in the hospital: A staged photo op if there ever was one
Remember the tragic tale of the Lockerbie bomber? The poor chap was diagnosed with advanced terminal prostate cancer, freed from prison in Scotland and allowed to return to live out his few, final days in Libya. We were told in the gravest of tones that he had but three months to live.
But thanks to the miracle that is Libya’s healthcare system, the Lockerbie bomber is alive and well.
The UK Daily Mail has the inspirational story:
… six months later, Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed al-Megrahi is still living–and doing it in the lap of luxury.
Yesterday, his elderly father even held out the prospect of him beating the prostate cancer that doctors said would kill him by last Christmas…
Megrahi, 57, no longer receives hospital treatment after ending a course of chemotherapy.
Last night, the British cancer specialist who gave the three-month prognosis was forced to defend his prediction.
He insisted that Megrahi remained gravely ill and was not expected to live much longer.
Call us cynical, but we thnk we’ll be reading this same story a year from now. And we still won’t know the real reason this murderer was released to live in Libyan luxury.

Billionaire Warren Buffett, one of President Obama’s strongest supporters, thinks the current health-care bill should be ditched in favor of a new plan that focuses on “cost, cost, cost.”
Buffett accuses Obama of “dream[ing] up 2,000 pages of other things.”
“I believe in insuring more people, ” Buffett said, “but I don’t believe in insuring more people until you address … the cost aspect of this.”
“I don’t care what Warren Buffett thinks about healthcare,” Vice President Biden said, “But I have to admit that I love that Margaritaville song. ”
Fox News Channel drew the most viewers during the health care summit, by far.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult for the left to explain Fox News’ dominance every time new ratings come out. The most recent spin seems to boil down to, “Oh, #%$@.”
MediaBistro.com reports the ObamaCare Summit ratings rout:
Fox News Channel drew the most viewers during yesterday’s health care summit, by far. During the summit hours (9:45am-5:30pmET), FNC drew more Total Viewers and A25-54 demo viewers than CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and HLN combined.
FNC, which did not interrupt the feed from the summit’s start until the 1pm lunch break, drew its most viewers in the 11amET hour, as did MSNBC. CNN drew the most in the 4pmET hour.
CNN, which had the second most viewers, was up +98% against its year-to-date average for the 10am-5:30pmET hours. MSNBC was up +75% and FNC was up +45%.
The White House says 3.9 million users streamed the summit at its website.
(Note: MSNBC only carried the summit until 2pm, and HLN and CNBC did not carry it in full).
The left contends that only stupid Republicans watch Fox News. But they’re going to need a new argument since that one now leads to the inescapable conclusion that the country has more Republicans than Democrats.
All that phony civility on display at the ObamaCare Summit was boring. And horribly insincere. Here’s how it should have looked and sounded. It doesn’t look like European MP Nigel Farage cares much for the Belgian President of the European Parliament.

“…I don’t want to be rude – but, you know, really, you have the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk. And the question that I want to ask … the question that I want to ask is: Who are you? I’d never heard of you. Nobody in Europe has ever heard of you. I would like to ask you, president, who voted for you?”
Obama inadvertently reveals that he doesn’t understand how insurance works. This is a teachable moment.
The President is fond of what he calls teachable moments. So what have we been taught by this video clip?
1. If you want to be covered when you get rear-ended, purchase collision and comprehensive insurance, not just the legally-required, minimum liability policy.
2. If you get rear-ended, it’s probably the other guy’s fault so you should call his insurance company, not your own.
3. Just because you graduate from Harvard doesn’t mean you know how the real world works.
And that, friends, is what you call a teachable moment. Just not the kind the President intended.
You could almost hear the collective gasp of horror that came from Democrats in the room. And if were not mistaken, Nancy Pelosi came down with a bad case of the vapors.
Republican Paul Ryan told the ObamaCare Summit that Washington doesn’t have all the answers.

Quote of the day from the Obamacare Summit came from Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY):
“You will not believe this and I know you won’t, but it’s true. Her sister died. This poor woman had no dentures. She wore her dead sister’s teeth, which of course were uncomfortable and did not fit.”

The Times UK summed it up perfectly:

Republican House leader John Boehner summed Obamacare it all up for the President prior to this morning’s much-anticipated Healthcare Summit.
To paraphrase John Boehner, "Now wait just a darn minute, Mr. President."
Republican House leader John Boehner summed it all up for the President prior to this morning’s much-anticipated (hey, Katie Couric described it that way, so it must be true) Healthcare Summit:
Opinion: Who’s Listening to the American People?
For his part, President Obama comes to the table with the same massive government takeover of health care that the American people have already rejected. In effect, the president’s proposal actually takes the 2,733-page bill that the Senate passed on Christmas Eve and manages to make it worse. Even more Medicare cuts. Even more tax hikes. Plenty of special-interest deals still in place. A trillion-dollar price tag.
This latest Democrats-only backroom deal snuffed out any chance that this summit could serve as the starting point for a bipartisan consensus. Democrats are instead hoping that this media event can be the gateway to a final push that involves circumventing the will of the people and jamming a bill through using parliamentary tricks.
This is the same arrogance and overreaching that the American people are so fed up with. It’s why Massachusetts happened. It’s why Americans waited for hours in the August heat to get into town hall meetings and make sure their voices were heard.
Indeed, we’ve been here before. Shortly after Labor Day, the president gave an address to Congress designed to resuscitate his proposed government takeover of health care. That speech was followed by an all-out media blitz. It was described as a “last-ditch effort,” “an opportunity to take back the initiative.” Nearly six months later, still no health care bill has been signed into law, tens of thousands more have lost their jobs and unemployment is still near 10 percent.
All this uncertainty is hurting small businesses, the engine of job creation in our country, while Americans are rightly asking: “Where are the jobs?”
The president’s health care media blitz was based on the notion that the more the American people learn about his plan, the more they would come to like it. Now that just the opposite has occurred, the president has chosen to limit participation in the Thursday summit to administration officials and congressional leaders. America’s governors and state legislatures have been excluded. Their perspective from the front lines about the damage this massive government takeover of health care would do to cash-strapped states is apparently not welcome. That’s greatly disappointing, considering that measures have been introduced in at least 36 state legislatures opting out of a federal takeover of health care.
Also excluded from today’s summit is Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., co-author of a House-passed amendment barring federal funding of abortion. The Stupak-Pitts amendment — which reflects the will of the American people on the issue of federal funding of abortion — is supported by a bipartisan majority in the House, but was excluded from the president’s proposal. Pro-life Democrats in the House have already pledged to vote against this provision. Health care reform should be an opportunity to protect human life — not end it. This fundamental issue isn’t even listed as a topic for discussion at the summit.
The president can hold all the summits he wants, but the toothpaste is out of the tube: The American people don’t want this massive government takeover of health care. No summit or speech or sales pitch can fix a fundamentally flawed 2,000-plus-page health care bill that spends money we don’t have and kills the jobs we need to get our economy moving again.
Let’s listen to the American people and let’s start over.
First, here’s a 2005 video in which Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid says Republicans should stop complaining about the Democrats’ plan to force ObamaCare into law via the reconciliation process. Now here’s another video recorded this week in which poor old feeble-minded Harry doesn’t seem to remember what he and his cohorts said way back to 2005. If you haven’t time to watch it nor read the transcript, let us summarize it for you.

“Waaaaaaaaaa! Waaaaaaaaa!”
Looks like the Dems didn’t like the concept of the nuclear option until they and their lackeys in the media gave it the kinder, gentler name of reconciliation.Obama: He hasn’t gotten his way. And that is now prompting, you know, a change in the Senate rules that really, I think, would change the character of the Senate forever. And what I worry about would be that essentially you have two chambers, the House and the Senate, but you have simply majoritarian absolute power on either side. And that’s just not what the Founders intended.
Hillary: So this President has come to the majority here in the Senate and basically said, “Change the rules. Do it the way I want it done.” And I guess there just weren’t very many voices on the other side of the aisle that acted the way previous generations have acted and said, “Mr. President, we’re with you, we support you, but that’s a bridge too far. We can’t go there. You have to restrain yourself, Mr. President.”
Schumer: We are on the precipice of a crisis. A constitutional crisis. The checks and balances which have been at the core of this republic are about to be evaporated by the nuclear option. The checks and balances which say that if you get fifty-one percent of the vote you don’t get your way 100% of the time. It is amazing. It is almost a temper tantrum.
Irony of ironies. The president’s closest living relative, other than his sister, is Dr. Milton R. Wolf. He’s Obama’s second cousin, a physican, a conservative and a blogger. Cousin Barack will not like his opinion of ObamaCare.

Irony of ironies. The president’s closest living relative, other than his sister, is Dr. Milton R. Wolf. He’s Obama’s second cousin, a physican, a conservative and a blogger.
Cousin Barack will not like his opinion of ObamaCare:
Our nation laid to rest this week Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha whose death was the result of a surgical error at a government-run hospital. In the same week of this ill-fated surgery, Canadian Premier Danny Williams escaped the clutches of his nation’s socialized medicine system to seek heart surgery in the United States.
These episodes, while anecdotal, underscore the distinction between free-market and government-run health care. And we need look no further than our own country to see both. Fourteen years into my medical career, I have worked and trained in both the free-market and government run sectors of our health care system. I’ve been in the trenches. I’ve seen lives saved. And lost.
Entering a Veteran’s Administration Hospital is a rite of passage for most medical students. It’s a different world. Gurneys in hallways, crowded multiple occupancy patient rooms, waiting lists, nursing shortages, paperwork … these are the norm. Gone are the niceties of most hospitals and, too often, so is the compassion.
There was a running joke during my training days that all the code blue’s of the VA occurred at 7 AM which was the worst possible time for a frantic medical student already trying desperately to finish an endless list of tasks before morning rounds. Why 7 AM? Because an unattended patient — an American war veteran — died quietly sometime earlier in the night and 7 AM is when the poor tech assigned to the morning blood draws would come across the remains. “Cold codes” we called them. These were exercises in futility whose only purpose was to allow a system to pretend that what had just happened hadn’t.
Our veterans deserve better. My patients deserve better. And so do you. There’s a reason why veterans with means will avoid the VA system just as seniors with means will avoid Medicare. The free-market medical care is simply better. So instead of expanding the government-run portions of our health care system, we should be doing exactly the opposite. We should embrace free-market reforms that will abolish junk lawsuits, rein in government insurance commissioners and allow patients to become empowered consumers.
President Barack Obama may be my cousin, but I consider standing in opposition to ObamaCare to be a call to duty. And while it is this assault on America’s health care that has forced me from the sideline to join the fight, I recognize that health care is but one arena where our liberties are under assault by this administration and others.
Nice to see that socialism doesn’t run very deep in the Obama gene pool.

That includes delusional Congressman Alan Grayson (D-NeverNeverLand), who says Democrats can still pass ObamaCare via the reconciliation maneuver.
“You know you can’t do it,” Matthews responds. “You’re pandering to the netroots right now. I know what you’re doing.”
Matthews is hilarious. He’s like a jilted lover who now hates everything about the woman he used to worship.

Media Matters, the rabid left wing media “watchdog” group, ran a lengthy, lengthy, lengthy story about Fox and Friends’ biased coverage of the White House’s bribery alleged bribery of Big Labor last week. It carried the shocking headline “Fox & Friends described as fact that the excise tax extension given to unions was a ‘bribe’ for support and votes.”
Hating on Fox News is one thing, but c’mon.

We’re right there with you, Media Matters. How dare those bastards at Fox News be so dishonest? Why, it’s almost like promising that all healthcare negotiations would be carried on C-Span or something crazy like that.
On second thought, if it had been on C-Span Fox News could have proved it was a bribe and removed the sliver of doubt to which Obama apologists like Media Matters so desperately cling.
Witnessing the dismantling of the Democrat Party, Barney Frank had a few frantic words for what’s left of the Air America audience on Saturday. Those damn 60 votes required for passing healthcare bill are just a technicality.

“Look, we have a serious constitutional problem…The 60 vote majority, it is outrageous…It is time top shut it down. It is anti-democratic.” And our personal favorite: “GOD DIDN’T CREATE THE FILIBUSTER.”
But not to worry, he says: those forty votes against healthcare are just from small states anyway.
Maybe God didn’t create the filibuster, but we think He might have brought us Scott Brown.
Remarkably cold weather killed twenty-six patients in a Cuban mental hospital this week. It also killed two liberal myths.
January, 2020: Cuban worker commuting to his job in the tobacco fields
Remarkably cold weather killed twenty-six patients in a Cuban mental hospital this week. It also killed two liberal myths.
The Washington Times reports the deadly details:
Twenty-six patients at Cuba’s largest hospital for the mentally ill died this week during a cold snap, the government said Friday.
Human rights leaders cited negligence and a lack of resources as factors in the deaths, and the Health Ministry launched an investigation that it said could lead to criminal proceedings.
A Health Ministry communique read on state television blamed “prolonged low temperatures that fell to 38 degrees Fahrenheit (4 Celsius) in Boyeros,” the neighborhood where Havana’s Psychiatric Hospital is located.
It said most of the deaths were from natural causes such as old age, respiratory infections and complications from chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular problems.
The statement came in response to reports from the independent Cuban Commission on Human Rights that at least 24 mental patients died of hypothermia this week, and that the hospital did not do enough to protect them from the cold because of problems such as faulty windows.
It’s so sad when you lose those you hold most dear. Not the patients, the liberal myths.
Liberal Myth #1 – The bizarre claim that Cuba’s healthcare system is superior to America’s. When was the last time you read a story about mental patients dying of hypothermia in the United States, even in climates far colder than Cuba’s?
Liberal Myth #2 – Global warming. For god’s sake, man, if people are freezing to death in tropical climes like Cuba, global warming is the least of our worries.
For most Americans, ObamaCare demands that you either carry insurance or face substantial fines. But there is a way around it! Become Amish.
There's nothing Brother Barack enjoys more than raising a barn. Unless it's tearing down an economy.
For most Americans, ObamaCare demands that you either carry insurance or face substantial fines.
But there is a way around it!
Become Amish.
Sure, the black clothing gets a little hot in the summer and the facial hair is itchy, especially for the women, but religious groups, like the Amish, can opt out of the draconian ObamaCare health insurance measures about to be foisted on the American people.
According to the Watertown Daily Times, the Amish will be allowed to opt out of health care reform.
“The Amish, as well as some other religious sects, are covered by a “religious conscience” exemption, which allows people with religious objections to insurance to opt out of the mandate. It is in both the House and Senate versions of the bill, making its appearance in the final version routine unless there are last-minute objections.”
The Amish, after all, teach personal and civic responsibility. We wouldn’t want that lesson to creep into the big nanny government.
So, it may be time to convert to the old time religion–the old, old time religion.
And, think how much thou wouldst save on the electric bill.
The clowns in congress love to see themselves on television. Except when it comes to ObamaCare. Now C-SPAN CEO Brian Lamb has told them to put up or shut up. In so many words. He wrote to leaders in the House and Senate urging them to televise “all important negotiations, including any conference committee meetings.”

He wrote to leaders in the House and Senate urging them to televise “all important negotiations, including any conference committee meetings.”
“The C-SPAN networks,” he added, “will commit the necessary resources to covering all of the sessions LIVE and in their entirety.”
Not gonna happen. Contrary to the President’s pledge of full transparency, it now appears that top Democrats in the House, Senate and White House will work out all the niggling little details behind closed doors before sending this bloated atrocity of a bill back for a final vote.
Hmmmmm. Candidate Obama’s words seem to conflict with President Obama’s actions. Here’s what he said on the campaign trail in a debate with Hillary:
“That’s what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are.”
In the words of Nancy Pelosi, “Lots of things are said on the campaign trail.”

We’d guess that Baucus checked the bill and discovered that rehab is covered.
