Janet Napolitano has announced that the people who were once called “illegal aliens” and were then called “illegal immigrants” and were then called “undocumented immigrants” are now to be called “newly-arrived asylum seekers.”

It gets harder and harder to keep a straight face while listening to Obama administration.

Case in point: Janet Napolitano has announced that the people who were once called “illegal aliens” and were then called “illegal immigrants” and were then called “undocumented immigrants” are now to be called “newly-arrived asylum seekers.”

Here’s how Reuters reports the story:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said illegal immigrants ranging from criminals to newly arrived asylum seekers would be held in different facilities according to the risk they pose.

“This is a system that encompasses many different types of detainees, not all of whom need to be held in prison-like circumstances,” Napolitano told a conference call.

Referring to noncriminals such as newly arrived asylum seekers, Napolitano said, “We will begin efforts to house these populations near immigration service providers and pursue different options like converted hotels or residential facilities for their detention.”

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of California voters shows that just 25% say illegal immigrants are not a major strain on the state budget. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.

Here’s how a new survey from Rasmussen Reports tells the story:

Nearly two-out-of-three California voters (64%) say illegal immigrants put a significant strain on the state budget as lawmakers struggle to close a $26 billion deficit.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of California voters shows that just 25% say illegal immigrants are not a major strain on the state budget. Eleven percent (11%) are not sure.

Here’s a reality check for that 25% who think illegal aliens are not a strain on the budget and for the 11% who aren’t sure:

40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly illegal aliens working without a green card.

95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

There are 21 Spanish language radio stations in Los Angeles.

In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish. (There are 10.2 million people in L.A. County ).

70% of the United States’ annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York) is from illegal aliens.

And finally, less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.

Despite these horrifying stats, 25% of voters think illegal aliens are just fine and dandy. And another 11% don’t have an opinion.

Democrats think your hard-earned tax dollars should provide free medical coverage for 12 million illegal aliens living in the United States.

Last week Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee voted down a Republican amendment that wouild have made legal residence a requirement for coverage under ObamaCare.

The 1,018-page bill passed Friday morning by a 23-to-18 margin. Three Democrats jumped ship to join Republicans in voting against the plan.

Democrats seem committed to this fiscal fiasco despite the fact that it flies in the face of public opinion. A recent Rasmussen poll indicated that 80% of Americans oppose providing medical coverage for illegal aliens.

Obviously, you don’t have to be a genius to figure out that free medical coverage will lure more illegal aliens across the border.

And just as obviously, you don’t have to be a genius to get elected to congress.

The President’s Plan to Stop illegal immigration: Allow illegal aliens to flood across the border, then send out harshly-worded letters to anyone who might consider hiring them.

Yes, you read that correctly. Instead of actually preventing illegal aliens from crossing the border and instead of raiding the businesses where they work, President Obama is is taking a different path. He’s sending harshly-worded form letters to businesses that might violate immigration laws. (As an aside, that sounds a lot like profiling to us.)

The dreaded letters are called I-9 forms. And employers are supposed to fill one out for every worker and keep it on file.

Homeland Security says Immigration & Customs Enforcement has already sent “Notices of Inspection” to 652 businesses this year, a big increase over the 503 notices issued all of last year.

We assume this harshly-worded letter was written by the same folks who sent a harshly-worded letter to Kim Jong-Il. And we all know how well that worked.

Schwartzenegger wants to cut everything except services to illegal immigrants aliens

California Governor Arnold Schwartzenegger pounded the final nail in his own political coffin yesterday when he announced that he’s “happy” that illegal aliens get state services. Then he tapped the nail in a little further by saying they’re not to blame for the state’s $24.3 billion deficit.

Schwarzenegger noted that the state spends a mere $4 billion to $5 billion the state on illegal aliens each year, but said that’s just a “small percentage” of the deficit. And that’s true if you consider 20% a small percentage.

The soon-to-be former Governor told The Sacramento Bee that it’s easy to “scapegoat” illegal immigrants. The turncoat Republican insisted that the Feds requires the state to provide emergency health care and education to illegal aliens. And what the hell, he said, the illegal aliens pick crops and build buildings.

Perhaps the Governor hasn’t seen these grim statistics on illegal aliens (some people have nitpicked these stats, but they’re frightening if they’re only half true):

Today’s Outrage: You’re going to pay for illegal aliens’ attorneys

In January, 2009, the Bush administration issued a ruling that said illegal immigrants facing deportation don’t have an automatic right to an attorney. That was soooo January.

Now Attorney General Eric Holder is vacating the order and instructing the Justice Department to determine if a new rule is needed. In other words, illegal aliens get free attorneys and you get the bill.

According to the Bush administration’s interpretation of the Constitution, illegal aliens were not entitled to have cases reopened because of shoddy work by their lawyers.

That sent immigrant rights groups to howling. Forget the fact that illegal aliens are criminals by virtue of the fact that they are in this country illegally. Or undocumentedly, as the activists would prefer.

After all, we are the world. We are the children. We are the taxpaying dopes.

Obama’s double whammy: Won’t protect borders, won’t pay to jail illegal immigrants

First the Democrats refuse to do anything to stop illegal aliens from flooding across the border. Now President Obama wants to kill a program that helps reimburse the states for jailing illegal aliens.

Don’t get us wrong. The funds were only to be used for jailing them for committing crimes other than crossing the border illegally.

The State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAPP) provides states with assistance to offset the costs of jailing illegal immigrants.

When he was in the senate, President Obama voted to give extra funding to SCAPP. Yet now Obama has decided to eliminate the same program he once voted for.

Obama says that killing SCAPP will save $400 million per year. In reality, it only transfers that burden to the states.

Obama may run into opposition in his own party on this one. Powerful California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein strongly backs SCAPP. She is supported by elected officials from other states with illegal aliens problems.

Obama expects to overcome this minor inconvenience as soon as ACORN can register the 12 million illegal aliens currently living in the United States.

Virtual border fence proves to be virtually worthless

The Boeing Company is hard at work building a virtual fence along the border between the United States and Mexico. Problem is, it’s about as effective as no fence at all.

Here’s how the Associated Press reports it:

A prototype virtual fence strung across 28 miles of the southern Arizona border has been in use since late 2007.

The Government Accountability Office told Congress last year the prototype fence did not fully meet expectations and its design wouldn’t be used as the basis for future developments. It is still operating, though, and its portable towers will be used in test scenarios elsewhere.

“I am hopeful that the department and its contractors have learned from previous failed attempts and will apply those lessons to the deployment (of the new system). We will be watching closely until SBInet is complete,” Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and a critic of the initial virtual fence efforts, said via e-mail Thursday.

The decision to move forward with construction was met with caution by a border security advocacy group.

“They’ve spent a lot of money and time on one (virtual fence) that didn’t work very well, so there’s reason to be skeptical,” said Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform. He said the high-tech devices aren’t a substitute for the promised actual fencing.

We’re budgeted to blow an unbelievable $6.7 billion on this border fence fiasco by 2014. To repeat, $6.7 billion.

Naturally, this boondoggle has the full support of the same people who complain that the “Star Wars” missile defense system is too expensive and that its technology is unproven.

In the media’s rush to condemn gun ownership, they have conveniently overlooked something very interesting about the shooter.

You can find it in this story from Fox News:

(Jiverly) Wong first came to the northwestern New York town some time in the late 1980s or early 1990s, before moving to California, (Police Chief Joseph) Zikuski said. In 1992, Wong was arrested and convicted of fraud.

Police said Wong became an American citizen in November of 1995 and sometime after that left the country. He returned to Los Angeles Dec. 25, 1999, arriving from Tokyo, police said passport records showed.

What the hell is wrong with our immigration policy when a guy who was arrested and convicted of fraud in 1992 can become a citizen in 1995?

As if to prove the intellectual and moral superiority of Manhattanites, the New York Times ran an editorial last Sunday headlined “The Nativists Are Restless.”

“The relentlessly harsh Republican campaign against immigrants has always hidden a streak of racialist extremism,” the Times said. “Now after several high-water years, the Republican tide has gone out, leaving exposed the nativism of fringe right-wingers clinging to what they hope will be a wedge issue.”

To tell you the truth, we’re honored to be called extremist, racialist and nativist by a bunch of elitist, socialist liar-ists.

If we ran a story as vile as the following letter that ran in the LA Times today, we’d be hounded off the internet. And rightfully so. Here it is:

The Times is obviously suffering from social schizophrenia. On one hand, its reporting seems to be virulently anti-Catholic. On the other hand, it supports illegal aliens at every turn, despite the fact that they are assumed to be overwhelmingly Catholic.

Must be like the war in Iraq. They support the troops, but not the mission.
