Those worrisome non-Muslim extremists are at it again in Montana

AP does its damnedest to prove that Janet Napolitano is justified in saying it’s those right wing non-Muslim terrorists we need to worry about

You can always count on the Associated Press to push liberal positions. In this case, for example, it does its damnedest to prove that Janet Napolitano is justified in saying it’s those right wing non-Muslim terrorists we need to worry about – even if the evidence of their existence is virtually non-existant.

flathead-lake-2
Beautiful Flathead Lake, where you can catch huge trout and even bigger non-Muslim terrorists

Let’s travel now to bucolic Kalispell, Montana, land of the Editor’s ancestors, where we apparently find those pesky non-Muslim terrorists water skiing on Flathead Lake:

It also is a cradle for sometimes-violent anti-government activity — a reputation most recently rekindled by the search for David Burgert. The former Kalispell militia leader is accused of opening fire on sheriff’s deputies on a remote logging road in Lolo National Forest.

After a lull following the demise of the Idaho-based neo-Nazi Aryan Nations in 2000, anti-government and white supremacist groups and individuals may be reviving in the Inland Northwest. It’s a mostly white, mostly rural area with few job opportunities and a history of extreme activists.

May be reviving? Translation: We don’t actually know of any problems, but this is the approved narrative and we’re sticking with it.

Experts say the number of radical right groups is growing across the country because of the poor state of the economy, rising immigration and fears that President Barack Obama’s administration has an agenda to curtail individual liberties.

They include so-called patriot groups, which fear one-world government and don’t accept the federal government’s authority. And they like northwest Montana because there is no dominant major city with liberal politics. It also has a deep libertarian streak and live-and-let-live attitude, said Travis McAdam, executive director of the Helena-based Montana Human Rights Network, an anti-hate group.
It has a deep libertarian streak and a live-and-let-live attitude.

Well, there you have it. Everyone knows what a “deep libertarian streak and live-and-left-live attitude” can lead to:

Libertarians.

And you know how dangerous they are.

Janet Napolitano: Profile Muslim men under 35? Why would we want to do that?

Seemed reasonable to us that profiling young Muslim men might just help stop a bit of terrorism. Luckily Janet Napolitano showed us the error of our ways.

Once again, our gut instincts have been proven wrong by the geniuses in the Obama administration.

Seemed reasonable to us that profiling young Muslim men might just help stop a bit of terrorism. Luckily, Director of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano is on the job to show us the error of our ways.

NewsBusters.org has the transformational information:

According to Janet Napolitano, concentrating terrorist screening efforts on young Muslim men is “not using good logic.”

Her response came after a reporter in the audience asked, “Why wouldn’t the Department focus more of its attention on the category of individuals that turned up most often as the suspect?”

Napolitano retorts, “You’ve got to use actual intelligence that you receive…All you’ve given me is status, not a technique, a tactic, a behavior.”

We’ve been racking our brains trying to come up with an example of terrorism that wasn’t committed by a young Muslim man, but we just can’t come up with one. Shoe bomber, young Muslim man. 9-11 hijackers, young Muslim men. Underwear bomber, young Muslim man. Fort Hood shooter, young Muslim man. Times Square bomber, young Muslim man.

“You’ve got to use actual intelligence…” Good advice for everyone in the Obama administration, Ms. Napolitano.

Sherlock Napolitano has lost track of 6 million illegal aliens

Seriously, does Janet Napolitano give you any sense of confidence that the border is being protected and that America is being kept safe? If so, you’re reading the situation completely wrong.

“Well, damn it, where’d they go?” the Director of Homeland Security said. “They were here just a minute ago.”

Seriously, does Janet Napolitano give you any sense of confidence that the border is being protected and that America is being kept safe? If so, you’re reading the situation completely wrong.

Illegal alien playing peek-a-boo with Janet Napolitano

Judicial Watch has the details:

…nearly half of the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants actually entered the U.S. legally but overstayed their visa, according to a new federal report. That’s because the agency responsible for keeping the nation safe—the Department of Homeland Security—can’t keep track of immigrants who remain in the U.S. after their visas expire.

This clearly creates a huge national security issue because terrorists can plot more attacks from within. In fact, dozens of foreigners convicted of terrorism since the 2001 attacks had overstayed their visas, according to the report, which was published by the investigative arm of Congress known as the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

Pssst. Hey, Janet. Check outside any Home Depot. We pretty sure you’ll be able to find about 5 million of them.

Good news: Napolitano says America’s “safest communities” are on the Mexican border

And we quote the Director of Homeland Security when we say, “The border’s not out of control.” Whether it is or isn’t, we’re pretty sure Janet Napolitano is out of control.

And we quote the Director of Homeland Security when we say, “The border’s not out of control.”

Whether it is or isn’t, we’re pretty sure Janet Napolitano is out of control.

So let’s just ignore those murders, drug dealing, beheadings, kidnappings, shootings, thefts and areas that the government has already declared unsafe for American citizens. Because if Janet Napolitano says the border area is safe, then by god, the border area is safe.

Now let’s sit back for a moment and imagine Napolitano playing the Jack Nicholson role in “A Few Good Men” and screaming, “You can’t handle the truth.”

Janet Napolitano announces that 28,468,855 Mexicans are untrustworthy

Janet Napolitano’s been busy lately – very busy – conducting personal interviews with every Mexican citizen. And when she was done, she proudly announced that 84,000,000 of them are trustworthy.

Janet Napolitano’s been busy lately – very busy – conducting personal interviews with every Mexicans citizen. And when she was done, she proudly announced that 84,000,000 of them are trustworthy enough to be given special “trusted traveler” status, allowing them to breeze through American airports with virtually no security checks.

What the Secretary of Homeland Security didn’t mention was that the total population of Mexico is 112,468,855 which means that she considers 28,468,855 Mexican citizens untrustworthy. That’s 28.3% of the nation’s population.

Be very careful here, Ms.Napolitano. You’re treading dangerously close to profiling.

mexican-trusted-traveler
Junk? We don't need to feel your stinkin' junk.

JudicialWatch.org has the derogatory details:

As violent drug cartels take over Mexico and expand their criminal enterprises north, the United States has signed a “trusted traveler” agreement that allows pre-screened Mexican airline passengers to bypass lengthy airport security checkpoints.

The foreigners will get “trusted traveler cards” with fingerprints and other biometric data and they must answer customs declarations questions on touch-screen kiosks before leaving airport inspection areas. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano claims it’s a way to enhance information sharing and mutual security in the face of “ever-evolving, multinational threats.”

About 84 million Mexicans are expected to qualify for the trusted traveler program, according to Mexico’s Interior Ministry Secretary, who signed the agreement on behalf of his country this week. Celebrating the festive occasion, the Mexican government official assured that the new accord will facilitate the U.S. entry of business travelers and tourists who are key factors in economic development, growth of trade and cultural exchange.

Mexicans will get the perk through the U.S. government’s Global Entry Program, which allows participants to obtain security clearance by presenting a “machine-readable” passport or resident card at airport “Global Entry kiosks.”

The machines issue the foreign travelers a transaction receipt and directions to baggage claim and the exit into the United States. Applying is easy. Candidates fill out an online application, provide valid identification and answer a few questions from a Customs and Border Protection officer.

We have one simple question about this new policy:

Why are 75% of all Mexicans considered trustworthy enough to breeze through customs and security, but 99.99% of all Americans are considered so untrustworthy that they have to get their junk touched just to get on an airplane?

Deadbeats in DC: Congressional employees owe millions in back taxes

Federal workers across the fruited plain owe more than $1 billion in back taxes. That’s bad enough. But now comes the news that congressional employees owe more than $9.3 million.

Federal workers across the fruited plain owe more than $1 billion in back taxes. That’s bad enough. But now comes the news that congressional employees owe more than $9.3 million.

The Washington Post has the deadbeat details:

tim geithner tax cheat
A fish rots from the head down: Tax cheat Tim Geithner apparently sets the tone for all of Washington

The debt among Hill employees has risen at a faster rate than the overall tax debt on the government’s books, according to Internal Revenue Service data. It comes at a time when some Republican members are pushing for the firings of government workers who owe the IRS and President Obama has urged a crackdown on delinquent government contractors.

The IRS information does not identify delinquent taxpayers by name, party affiliation or job title and does not indicate whether members of Congress are among the scofflaws. It shows that 638 employees, or about 4 percent, of the 18,000 Hill workers owe money.

The average unpaid tax bill is $12,787 among the Senate’s delinquent taxpayers and $15,498 among those working in the House.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it does. Poke into any corner in Washington, DC and you’ll find deadbeats:

41 White House employees owe the government $831,055 in back taxes. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis’ runs a department in which 463 employes owe $7,481,463. Eighty-one people working for the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors owe $1,076,733. And Eric Holder’s Justice Department has a remarkable 1,971 employees who have stiffed the government for $14,350,152 in overdue taxes. Janet Napolitano, Director of Homeland Security, has 4,856 employees who owe the IRS $37,012,174.

Fact is, they all owe us an apology. With penalties and interest.

Surprise, surprise! Troops that were supposed to be on the border two weeks ago may not be there for months

In what may be the least surprising announcement made in months, Janet Napolitano revealed Thursday that the troops she promised Arizona and other border states won’t be in place for weeks. Maybe months.

In what may be the least surprising announcement made in months, Janet Napolitano revealed Thursday that the troops she promised Arizona and other border states won’t be in place for weeks. Maybe months.

Arizona lawmakers asked for National Guard troops on the border and Napolitano promised to have them in place by August 1, but it looks like Tucson’s just going to have to wait a little longer. Or a lot longer.

“The first began arriving, or the command and control elements began arriving, on the 1st of august. They should all be there within, I would say, 30 to 60 days,” said Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano.

Napolitano went on to say, “Or 90 days. Or maybe 120 days. Or maybe not at all. You know what I love about my job? The more you lie, the easier it gets.”

Obama to rush 1,200 National Guardsmen to the Mexican border. Sometime soon. Real soon.

The Obama administration announced Monday that illegal immigrants from Mexico have until Aug. 1 to make it across the U.S. border before it gets really serious about border security with the deployment of 1,200 additional National Guardsmen there.

national-guard-mexican-border
We'll believe President Obama sent National Guard troops to the Mexican border when we see them there

Many years ago, we found ourselves drinking a beer or three with a couple of Kiwis in a pub out in the middle of the Australian Outback. The owner of the pub, a pleasant middle-aged woman, came around to tell us we had to leave because it was closing time. We hadn’t finished our beer, so we lingered. A few minutes later she came around again to tell us we really had to leave.

We still hadn’t finished, so one of the Kiwis asked, “What happens if we don’t?”

“Ahhh, then you’d be in big trouble” she said with a big smile on her face. “Because I’d call the police and you’d only have three days before they showed up to arrest you.”

That summarizes President Obama rapid response to violence on the Arizona border as reported by the Los Angeles Times:

The Obama administration announced Monday that illegal immigrants from Mexico have until Aug. 1 to make it across the U.S. border before it gets really serious about border security with the deployment of 1,200 additional National Guardsmen there.

The Times story goes on to say:

The Aug. 1 troop deployment, announced weeks ago and being implemented next month to supplement previous border efforts, comes just three days after Arizona’s tough new illegal immigrant enforcement is scheduled to take effect. The ACLU, Obama administration and government of Mexico, among others, are challenging the law in federal courts, seeking an injunction to halt the July 29 implementation, called S.B. 1070.

The Department of Homeland Security said the additional troops would be deployed for one year to support surveillance and efforts to combat international drug trafficking along the border.

It said 524 troops would go to Arizona, 224 to California, 250 to Texas, 72 to New Mexico and 130 somewhere else in command support roles. The troops set for Arizona equal almost two per mile of state border with Mexico.

Far be it from us to dispute the Honorable Janet Napolitano, but those numbers didn’t sound right to us.

130 of them will be stationed “somewhere else in command support roles”, which leaves just 1070 that will actually be stationed on the border. (A remarkable coincidence, isn’t it, that Arizona’s anti-illegal alien law is SB 1070 and that Obama will station 1070 troops on the border?)

According to Wikipedia, the length of the Mexican-American border is actually 1,969 miles. So rather than two per mile as Napolitano claims, there will actually be just one National Guardsman every 1.84 miles.

Assuming that they patrol in three 8-hour shifts, that means one National Guardsman every 5.5 miles.

But even that is being far too generous, because if we assume that they patrol in groups of at least ten for safety reasons, that means one group of National Guardsman every 55 miles, far from the two per mile that Napolitano touted.

Feeling more secure now?

Claiming “a sense of unprecedented urgency,” the DHS statement quoted Secy. Janet Napolitano as saying:

Over the past year and a half, this administration has pursued a new border security strategy with an unprecedented sense of urgency, making historic investments in personnel, technology and infrastructure. These troops will provide direct support to federal law enforcement officers and agents working in high-risk areas to disrupt criminal organizations seeking to move people and goods illegally across the Southwest border.

Napolitano’s press release was issued on July 19. To complete the analogy started way back at the beginning of this story, the illegal aliens, drug runners, people smugglers and terrorists only have 12 days to finish their beers before the police show up.

And even then, they won’t have to worry too much because there won’t be enough “police” to actually make a difference.

Janet Napolitano, the genius who runs Homeland Security, did an interview with a Mobile, Alabama radio station late last week.

She wanted to give herself a little pat on the back by bragging about how closely she’s been working with Alabama officials on the Gusher in the Gulf. Among those officials, she said, was Alabama Governor Haley Barbour.

Big Sister has some very sinister ideas about the internet

Day one: Janet Napolitano bans “controversial websites.” Day two: Internet uproar reaches crescendo. Day three: Janet Napolitano says, “Forget it.”

Final score: Internet 1, Police State 0

The Washington Times has the details:

After an uproar from conservative bloggers and free-speech activists, the Transportation Security Administration late Tuesday rescinded a new policy that would have prevented employees from accessing websites with “controversial opinions” on TSA computers at work.

The ban on “controversial opinion” sites, issued late last week, was included as part of a more general TSA Internet-usage policy blocking employee access to gambling and chat sites, as well as sites that dealt with extreme violence or criminal activity.

But the policy itself became controversial as the Drudge Report and a number of conservative bloggers highlighted the possibility that the policy could be used to censor websites critical of the agency or of the Obama administration in general. The American Civil Liberties Union also questioned the language.

TSA spokeswoman Lauren Gaches said the agency’s revised “acceptable use” policy for Internet access on the agency’s network was designed to block sites “that promote destructive behavior to one’s self or others.”

”

After further review, TSA determined the ‘controversial opinion’ category may contain some sites that do not violate TSA’s policy and therefore has concluded that the category is no longer being considered for implementation,” she said in an e-mail to The Washington Times.

Bad week at IHateTheMedia.com. We can’t get a fatwa issued against us for insulting Islam. We can’t get Napolitano to name us as banned controversial site. We can’t get Lindsay Lohan to return our phone calls.

Can you imagine the din that would have arisen if Bush Director of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff had issued an order banning “controversial websites”?

Yet that’s exactly what happened when Director of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano issued new censorship rules late on Friday afternoon, hoping her edict would slip through unnoticed over the long holiday weekend. Looks like that ploy didn’t work, Jan.

CBS News risks being banned, we assume, by reporting the news:

We're waiting for the ACLU to file suit against Janet Napolitano. Still waiting.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is blocking certain websites from the federal agency’s computers, including halting access by staffers to any Internet pages that contain a “controversial opinion,” according to an internal email obtained by CBS News.

The email was sent to all TSA employees from the Office of Information Technology on Friday afternoon.

It states that as of July 1, TSA employees will no longer be allowed to access five categories of websites that have been deemed “inappropriate for government access.”

The categories include:

• Chat/Messaging
• Controversial opinion
• Criminal activity
• Extreme violence (including cartoon violence) and gruesome content
• Gaming

The email does not specify how the TSA will determine if a website expresses a “controversial opinion.”

Janet Napolitano is a moron.

At first we thought that statement might be enough to get us banned, but then we realized there’s nothing controversial about it.

First Attorney General Eric Holder, then Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, now State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley.

And you know that President Obama hasn’t read Arizona’s anti-illegal alien law because he’s had that laser-like focus thing of his going on creating jobs. Or stopping the oil spill. Or something.

The real question is no longer who hasn’t read it. It’s who has read it.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Has anyone in the Obama administration read this Arizona law they hate so much?

Janet Napolitano joined Attorney General Eric Holder as leading figures in the Obama administration who are willing to condemn Arizona’s new anti-illegal alien bill without ever having bothered to read it.

She admits to John McCain that she hasn’t read the law, but that doesn’t stop her from passing judgment on it.

“That’s not the kind of law I would have signed,” she told Congress. “I believe it’s a bad law enforcement law. I believe it mandates and requires local enforcement and puts them in a position many do not want to be placed in. When I was dealing with laws of that ilk, most of the law enforcement organizations in Arizona at that time were opposed to such legislation.”

In other words, “We don’t read the damn laws, we just pass judgment on them.”

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up the Amsterdam-Detroit flight this week demonstrated that “the system worked.”

Asked by CNN’s Candy Crowley on “State of the Union” how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who sought to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the flight, Napolitano responded: “We’re asking the same questions.”

Napolitano added that there was “no suggestion that [the bomber] was improperly screened.”

For god’s sake, Jan, disaster was averted only because one brave passenger tackled the guy, poured water on his burning balls, stripped him naked to make sure he had no additional explosives, and tied him up.

More new terminology from the Obama administation: “Illegal aliens” are now “newly-arrived asylum seekers”

Case in point: Janet Napolitano has announced that the people who were once called “illegal aliens” and were then called “illegal immigrants” and were then called “undocumented immigrants” are now to be called “newly-arrived asylum seekers.”

Here’s how Reuters reports the story:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said illegal immigrants ranging from criminals to newly arrived asylum seekers would be held in different facilities according to the risk they pose.

“This is a system that encompasses many different types of detainees, not all of whom need to be held in prison-like circumstances,” Napolitano told a conference call.

Referring to noncriminals such as newly arrived asylum seekers, Napolitano said, “We will begin efforts to house these populations near immigration service providers and pursue different options like converted hotels or residential facilities for their detention.”

And now, as they say, the second shoe dropping, courtesy of Bloomberg:

Janet Napolitano wants to kiss and make up with Canada.

The Secretary of Homeland Security caused quite a dust-up north of the border last month when she said the 9-11 terrorists entered the United States from Canada.

Unfortunately, that statement is at odds with the facts. The 9-11 commission concluded that none of the terrorists came through Canada.

Napolitano wants to forgive and forget. Or more appropriately, to have Canadians forget what she said and forgive her. But instead of saying she’s sorry and accepting the blame for her comment, the diplomatic neophyte blamed the Canadian media and said she’s sorry they continue to dwell on her misstatement.

“Jeez, these Canucks are testy,” Napolitano reportedly thought. “Now when do I get to meet Dudley Dooright?”

It sounds like a good idea until you find out that it would authorize the Attorney General to deny the sale of firearms to known or “suspected” terrorists.

Of course, you don’t have to remember back more than a couple weeks to remember who Janet Napolitano “suspects” as a terrorist.

Who? You. That’s who.

What Napolitano called “extremists,” more rational civil libertarians call “advocates” for frightening things like Christian identity, anti-abortion, anti-immigration and states rights.

“It doesn’t say anything about trials and due process,” commented Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America said about the proposed legislation. “This is one of the most outrageous pieces of legislation to come along in some time. Republic Rep. Peter King appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday and said some things that are sure to land him in hot water with the Obama administration. And Muslim extremists, too.

“Janet Napolitano testified before the Homeland Security Committee a few weeks ago and never once used the word terrorism. Nowhere in her statement was the word terrorism. Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said he was “dumbfounded” by the report.

“This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans — including war veterans,” Mr. Thompson stated in the letter to Napolitano.

“As I am certain you agree, freedom of association and freedom of speech are guaranteed to all Americans — whether a person’s beliefs, whatever their political orientation, are ‘extremist’ or not.”

You know the Department of Homeland Security report is a gross distortion of the truth when someone with Thompson’s solid liberal credentials sees the danger in it.

This is Janet Napolitano, President Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security.

She believes America’s conservatives are more dangerous than Islamo-Fascist radicals.

She just issued a report in which she breathlessly tells the nation’s law enforcement agencies to watch out for you. “You” meaning anyone who doesn’t like President Obama, disgruntled veterans, states rights advocates, people who are suffering in the recession, and really successful talk show hosts.

She wants to put you in jail. But thanks to President Obama’s policy of renaming existing government programs, jail is no longer called jail.

Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary wipes out terrorism. It’s now a “man-caused disaster.”

Two months in office and President Obama has already wiped out terrorism. Who knew it would be this easy?

You see, the President’s Homeland Security Secretary thinks the word terrorism isn’t very nice, that it represents those darned old-fashioned “politics of fear.” So she wiped out terrorism with a stroke of her pen…or her tongue.

Don’t get us wrong. Janet Napolitano didn’t do anything that will save any lives or make us any safer or stop any of the bad guys. She just eliminated it from her vocabulary and renamed it a “man-caused disaster.”

Here’s what she told the German magazine Der Spiegel:

Der Spiegel: Madame Secretary, in your first testimony to the US Congress as Homeland Security Secretary you never mentioned the word “terrorism.” Does Islamist terrorism suddenly no longer pose a threat to your country?

Napolitano: Of course it does. I presume there is always a threat from terrorism. In my speech, although I did not use the word “terrorism,” I referred to “man-caused” disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.

Seriously. So from now on, it’s not terrorism. It’s a man-caused disaster. So we assume they’re not terrorists anymore, either, but man-caused disaster makers…or doers…causers…or whatever.

Somebody out there help us here. Is this more of that change we can believe in?
