Spreading money around left wing news organizations like a pro athlete at a strip club

Fox News reported that, “In a statement obtained by The Caucus, (Media Matters) says it plans to use the money to intensify its efforts to hold the Fox host Glenn Beck and others on the cable news channel accountable for their reporting.”

Well, if by holding them “accountable for their reporting” Media Matters means to launch a boycott aimed at shutting down free speech in general and Fox news specifically, then yes, they are trying to hold Glenn Beck accountable.

The statement continues, “Fox has transformed itself into a 24-7 G.O.P. attack machine, dividing Americans through fear-mongering and falsehoods and undermining the legitimacy of our government for partisan political ends.”

Coincidentally, Media Matters exists solely as a left-wing attack machine created to attack Fox 24-7 through fear-mongering and falsehoods for partisan political ends. But that was not noted in the story.

Fox also reported that, “Mr. Soros, a billionaire who has a history of supporting liberal politicians and causes, accused Fox News hosts of ‘incendiary rhetoric’ and said he hoped that his money would be used ‘in an effort to more widely publicize the challenge Fox News poses to civil and informed discourse in our democracy.’”

What Mr. Soros neglected to say was that while he is opposed to “right wing” incendiary rhetoric, incindiary rhetoric from the left is highly encouraged. Anyone who’s ever visited Media Matters knows that its “reporters” (or “fellows,” as they like to call them) don’t actually report, but instead search through the media much like the little old lady searching for dirty words, looking for something – anything, really – that can be twisted and distorted to support their left wing world view.

Media Matters has always been a joke. But by taking Soros’ cash, it’s become the old joke whose punch line is, “We’ve already determined what you are. Now we’re just negotiating the price.”

Alvin Greene makes an interesting campaign appearance. Yeah, let’s go with “interesting.”

In this clip, South Carolina Democrat Alvin Greene works his way into the background as a local TV reporter does a live story from the fair.

Apparently, when your campaign’s on a limited budget, you’re forced to do whatever you can to get TV time. Even if it means paying your way into the South Carolina State Fair and making a fool of yourself.

In this clip, South Carolina Democrat Alvin Greene works his way into the background as a local TV reporter does a live story from the fair. That’s Alvin wearing the green T-shirt and cap just over the reporter’s left shoulder. Yeah, that’s right. He’s the one waving and making rabbit ears over the reporter’s head.

Amazingly enough, 11% of South Carolina voters still say they’re going to vote for this guy.

If that South Carolina election doesn’t work out for you, Alvin, move to California. We’ve already elected Governor Moonbeam and Barbara Boxer, so your odds are considerably better out here.

Democrats hold a raffle: Send in $3 and win a chance to meet the President

Just as professional Democrats have begun fleeing any association with Barack Obama, the party has come up with the brilliant idea of holding a raffle. Give money to the party right now and you could win a chance to meet President Obama.

Just as professional Democrats have begun fleeing any association with Barack Obama, the party has come up with the brilliant idea of holding a raffle. Give money to the party right now and you could win a chance to meet President Obama.

It is, perhaps, a sign of desperation within the party that you’re automatically entered in the contest for making a contribution as small as $3.

obama-three-dollar-bill
$3 raffles today, car washes and bakes sales tomorrow

You read that right. Not $3000, not $300, not even $30. A mere $3 contribution is all it takes to enter this contest and win the chance to meet this devalued President.

The Washington Examiner has details of the desperation:

It will happen October 22, when Obama appears at a rally for faltering Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Las Vegas. “The president will be kicking off the final push at a grassroots rally,” an Organizing for America email says. “We’re saving three backstage passes for supporters like you.”

Obama has been criticized for appearing at high-dollar events like a soiree at the Washington DC home of former network newswoman and White House health care spokeswoman Linda Douglass. That event cost $30,400 to attend. This one will be different. If you send in just $3 between now and 11:59 p.m. Friday, you’ll have a chance to win — air fare, hotel, and “backstage pass” to meet Obama.

And it’s even better than that. Read the fine print of the email, and you’ll see — at the bottom, just like a contest on the back of a box or a six pack of soft drinks — “No purchase or contribution necessary to enter. Void where prohibited.” Even if they don’t send in any money, winners will receive “one round-trip ticket within the continental U.S. to Las Vegas; hotel accommodations for one; and a meeting with President Obama at a rally even on 10/22/10 (approximate combined retail value $1,200.00).” The email does not specify how much of the $1,200.00 is for the plane, how much is for the hotel, and how much is for meeting Obama.

In other Democrat news, Joe Biden is organizing a fundraiser where he’ll pay $3 for the chance to meet you.

Welcome to Nevada, Mr. President. Now go away.

This ad not only damns Obama with his own words, his own actions and the haunting “O-ba-ma, O-ba-ma, O-ba-ma” chant of his supporters, but does it in a dramatic way that almost gives you chills.

We hate the nasty tone and predictability of most political attack commercials. But we love a commercial that turns a competitor’s words or deeds against him in a clever or dramatic way.

Like this one, for example. It not only damns Obama with his own words, his own actions and the haunting “O-ba-ma, O-ba-ma, O-ba-ma” chant of his supporters, but does it in a dramatic way that almost gives you chills.

Welcome to Nevada, indeed, Mr. President.

Now go away and take Harry Reid with you.

Wednesday afternoon: Michelle harvests potatoes with children in White House garden

Michelle Obama and a group of unpaid child laborers harvested crops from the White House plantation. Just hours before the White House harvest, the government came out against potatoes.

We love the way completely unrelated news items sometimes juxtapose to show the complete absurdity of Washington, DC.

Michelle's big ass sweet potato: The only White House-approve usage of the words "Michelle" and "big ass" in the same sentence

On Wednesday afternoon, Michelle Obama and a group of unpaid child laborers harvested crops from the White House plantation. Michelle proudly posed with a big ass sweet potato (insert your own punch line here).

On Wednesday morning, just hours before the White House harvest, the government came out against potatoes.

The Associated Press has its eyes on the potato story:

“… the Institute of Medicine, the health arm of the National Academy of Sciences, recommended that the U.S. Department of Agriculture stop participants of the federal Women, Infants and Children program, known as WIC, from buying potatoes with federal dollars. The institute also called for the USDA-backed school lunch program to limit use of potatoes.

Under an interim rule, the USDA agreed to bar WIC participants from buying potatoes with their federal dollars. Potatoes are the only vegetable not allowed. Next year, the agency will roll out a final rule on the WIC program, which last year served 9.3 million children and pregnant and breast-feeding women considered at risk for malnutrition.

Michelle is in favor of sweet potatoes, but opposed to white potatoes.

Let’s all say it together:

The Democratic Congressional Committee is spending millions of dollars in key districts around the country on late independent expenditures, demonstrating the districts Democrats believe can be saved from a national wave — and the members the party believes are already too far behind their Republican rivals to save.

Where the DCCC didn’t spend money is as indicative as where it did. With two weeks to go, Democrats are using their checkbooks as acknowledgment that nearly a dozen members are beyond saving.

The DCCC did not spend money on behalf of Reps. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Ohio), Debbie Halvorson (D-Ill.), Betsy Markey (D-Colo.), Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), Suzanne Kosmas (D-Fla.), Patrick Murphy (D-Pa.) and Steve Kagen (D-Wis.), the filings show. Republicans believe those seven seats are all but guaranteed to fall their way.

Adios, Alan. Hopefully, you’ve learned that it’s one thing to be hated by conservatives, but another thing to be hated by your own constituents.

AFP reports the President’s glowing opinion of himself:

“I’ve been inspired by you. Wherever I go, traveling across this country, especially when I meet young people, I’m reminded of your energy, and your drive, and your imagination,” Obama told several hundred young people.

“For all the problems we’re going through right now, we still have the best workers on earth, the finest universities on earth, we’ve got the best entrepreneurs on earth, we’ve got the freest, most vibrant economy on earth,” he said.

One female supporter then yelled out “the best president on earth” and Obama replied, “Well, I won’t say that, but we got a pretty good president.”

Electrifying news: Ford says its electric cars may need to recharge four times a day

Ford anticipates owners of an electric version of its Focus hatchback may have to recharge it up to a whopping 1500 times a year — or up to four times a day

A little advice: If you buy yourself an electric Ford Focus, buy one of those new smart phones, too. Then immediately download the solitaire app, because you’re going to have plenty of time to play the game while your car’s battery is recharging.

electric-ford-focus
The Ford Focus. Fill' er up, up to four times every single day of your miserable electric existence

The Sydney Morning Herald has Ford’s shocking news:

The car maker released details of the car this week that shows it anticipates owners of an electric version of its Focus hatchback may have to recharge it up to a whopping 1500 times a year — or up to four times a day.

The car may need so many recharges that the car maker says it has developed a special ergonomic plug so US customers can use a standard household power point to recharge their car, rather than using a special wall-mounted unit that cuts the amount of time needed to fully charge.

However, the system using the normal powerpoint can take up to 12 hours to fully recharge the Focus, meaning many owners will need to plug the car in several times a day to ensure they have enough reserves of electricity in the car’s batteries to fit in a full day of driving, potentially putting a strain on relationships with friends and employers as they borrow power to keep moving…

Ford says it expects electric car owners to need to plug in at up to 30 times the frequency that petrol-engined Focus owners will need to visit the petrol station.

‘‘Between plugging in and unplugging at home, work or other places, Focus Electric owners are likely to recharge their vehicles two to four times each day (nearly 1500 times a year) compared to once a week for gassing up (52 times a year),’’ the car maker says.

Articles like this usually bring out the eco-wackos who say we’re just making stuff up. But in this case, they’ll have to accuse Ford of making stuff up.

Bring on the comments.

My good friend, SF politico and former VP Candidate [for Ralph Nader, 2008], Matt Gonzalez, has endorsed John Dennis because, as is your custom, you gutlessly refused to debate him. I am also encouraging you (once again, futilely) to not only debate John Dennis, but Gloria La Riva, too.

I like and admire both John and Gloria and support them as human beings who both have the two things that you lack but would have made you a much better person: courage and integrity.

As someone who got a kick in the teeth from the political school of elitism two years ago, I can’t endorse anyone for Federal elections which I believe are only a huge sham and scandal at any rate, but I am convinced that either John or Gloria would represent district 8 in California far better than you have on your best day.

If one were to believe this question in Yahoo! Answers, SaQuinta Bently is a black woman who has seen the light. In her own words:

I have a FILTHY tattoo of Obama’s face on my gut. How can I remove it?

I’ll admit that I got swept up by the Obama hysteria last year…and that’s why I got his tattoo on my gut. But I have now seen the light…and Obama ain’t nuttin but an Uncle Tom. And with all my pregnancy stretch marks, his face sho be looking ugly on my gut. How can I get the tattoo removed?

We don’t know if SaQuinta is for real, but we kind of doubt it. Nevertheless the ad brings up two thoughts:

(1) If SaQuinta is real, we’d really like to see that tattoo. With all those stretch marks, the Obama tattoo on her gut must now look more like Moms Mabley (We guarantee that’s a funny line if you’re old enough to understand the reference. If not, do a Google image search for Moms).

And (2), would anyone actually be dumb enough to get an Obama tattoo? We did our own Google image search and found photographic evidence that America is home to at least 22 morons.

Our advice: If these Obama tattoos are as prevalent as they appear to be, take every cent you can scrounge up and invest it in a company that manufactures laser tattoo removal equipment.

Problems in Barneyville: Congressman Frank has to loan his own campaign $200,000

Longtime Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank has given his re-election campaign $200,000 as he faces his toughest race in years.

Barney Frank owns his Massachusetts district. That is, he’s never really faced a serious challenge, running up huge victory after huge victory, sometimes even running unopposed.

Until this year.

Barney Frank hopes this $200,000 loan will help him land a knockout slap

Politico.com has the surprising story of Frank’s funding problem:

Longtime Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank has given his re-election campaign $200,000 as he faces his toughest race in years.

A campaign finance report filed Tuesday showed that Frank, the chairman of the powerful House Financial Services committee, lent himself the money Tuesday.

Frank, a 15-term lawmaker from Newton, Mass., raised $316,644 last quarter and reported more than $1 million on hand with no debts.

His campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The chairman is facing one of his toughest fights in recent memory against Republican Sean Bielat, a 35-year-old Marine veteran with degrees from Georgetown, Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania.

Republican Sen. Scott Brown won Frank’s congressional district, which President Barack Obama carried in 2008. Bielat has zeroed in on Frank’s service atop the financial services committee, indicating that the Democrat had a hand in the financial turmoil over the last few years.

He had a hand it in? That’s a delicate way of putting it. If they mean Frank was fisting the economy, well, yes, he had a hand in it.

An indelicate way of putting it, perhaps, but true, nonetheless.

Pathetic: Democrat congressman spends 50 years in Washington, has one contributor from his home district

Jim Oberstar collected a contribution from just one resident of the district between June 22 and Sept. 30. The rest from special interests.

This is the face of a man who's lost touch with his own constituents

Politico.com has the exceedingly odd details:

With a potentially competitive race developing back home in Minnesota’s 8th District, Transportation Committee Chairman Jim Oberstar collected a contribution from just one resident of the district between June 22 and Sept. 30, according to a federal election report filed Wednesday.

Jane Robbins of Pine City gave Oberstar $500 on Aug. 22.

Other than that, all of his contributions came from political action committees, Native American tribes or individual donors in other districts and states.

In all, the veteran Iron Range Democrat, first elected in 1974, collected just $233,102 in receipts over the time period. By comparison, fellow Minnesotan Michele Bachmann, a Republican firebrand, pulled in $5.4 million between July 1 and Sept. 30.

Nevertheless, no one can accuse Oberstar of not listening to his constituents as long as they remember that his constituents are PACs, lobbyists, Native American tribes and people from outside his district.
