Now that they’ve issued a correction, perhaps they could issue a clarification

The British Press Complaints Commission (yes, there really is such an organization or as they would say, organization) happily reports that the Sun UK has issued the following correction. But it looks to us like they also need a British Press Clarifications Commission.

voodoo-drink-blood
Feel free to stick a pin in the British Press Complaints Commission voodoo doll

Yeah, we hate the media. But we hate people who regulate the media even more.

For example, the British Press Complaints Commission (yes, there really is such an organization or as they would say, organization) happily reports that the Sun UK has issued the following correction:

“In an article on February 3, we implied two thirds of Haitians drank goats’ blood while practising voodoo. We are happy to make clear this is not the case.”

That’s all fine and dandy, British Press Complaints Commission. But it brings up some questions as to exactly what the Sun UK is actually correcting.

Are they saying that a different percentage of Haitians drink goats’ blood while practicing voodoo? If so, is the percentage higher or lower?

Are they sayig that two thirds of Haitians drink goats’ blood, but not while they’re practicing voodoo?

Are they saying that Haitians practice voodoo, but not while drinking goats’ blood?

Looks to us like they also need a British Press Clarifications Commission.

Question of the Day: How does Mexico treat illegal aliens?

How does Mexico treat illegal aliens? Well, let’s just say they don’t get free medical care even though they may need it after the treatment they receive at the hands of Mexican authorities.

Mexican President Senor Wences came to our country and criticized the way we treat his people (you know, the jobs, the welfare, the free medical care, the free education, all those horrible things).

But how does Mexico treat illegal aliens? Well, let’s just say they don’t get free medical care even though they may need it after the treatment they receive at the hands of Mexican authorities.

Watch the video.

How do you say “Good for thee, but not for me” in Spanish?

The best that can be said for Mexican President Felipe Calderon is that he is a hypocritical puto. He appeared with Wolf Blitzer on CNN and proudly – yes, proudly – announced that Mexicans treat illegal aliens in their country exactly like Arizona wants to treat them. And in his view, that hypocrisy is fine and dandy.

Blitzer: “Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people who they suspect are illegal?”
Calderon: “Of course.”
Blitzer: “If somebody sneaks in from Nicaragua or some other country in Central America through the southern border of Mexico, they wind up in Mexico, they can go get a job, they can work . . .”
Calderon: (Interrupting Blitzer) “No, no. If somebody do that without permission, we send back them.”

Muy grande hypocritical puto.

Good news! There’s no such thing as radical Islam!

Yup. No such thing as radical Islam. At least that’s what Alan Colmes tried to tell Megyn Kelly. And she was just about as dumbfounded by this surprising announcement as you are.

Yup. No such thing as radical Islam. At least that’s what Alan Colmes tried to tell Megyn Kelly. And she was just about as dumbfounded by this surprising announcement as you are.

Kelly: Alan, why not just say it? The man (Eric Holder) would clearly like to stick a hot poker in his eye than admit that “radical Islam” may have been a factor (in the Times Square attempted bombing).
Colmes: Why is Congressman Lamar Smith so insistent that you’ve gotta say these words? Why is he so insistent to use the name of a religion?
Kelly: Answer my question. Why would he rather stick a hot poker in his eye than say “radical Islam”?
Colmes: Because there’s no such a thing as radical Islam.
Kelly: What?
Colmes: It is not part of the religion. People are not doing this in the name of true Islam.

In other news, Alan Colmes has announced that there’s no such thing as believing your own eyes.

Holy Moly! Just wait ‘til the radical Muslims see the Mohammed Image Archive

The Mohammed Image Archive has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of drawings of the Muslim prophet. Many not that Islamist jihads wouldlike.

Muhammad image
Crybaby Muhammad. Just one of the hundreds of illustrations found in the Mohammed Image Archive

Our Everybody Draw Al Gore Day competition is spreading across the internet. It has more than 5,400 7,300 Google references now. We don’t know if we’ll actually get any entries, but we’ll get some laughs.

Of course, our idea is a parody of Seattle artist Molly Norris’ brilliant “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.” But Norris quickly canceled that Allah image event out of fatwah phobia.

Fear not, Molly. The Mohammed Image Archive makes our little contests look like…well…little contests. It has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of images and pictures of the Muslim prophet. And at last report, the curator is still enjoying good health.

ZombieTime.com illustrates the story:

The Mohammed Image Archive is a compendium of images that depict Mohammed (the 7th-century founder of Islam), spanning all historical periods, cultures and genres.

The inspiration for this Archive came from the global controversy over the publication of Mohammed cartoons in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, and the need for a comprehensive and even-handed look at the wide variety of Mohammed depictions in Islamic and Western societies from the Middle Ages until today. It will remain online as a resource for those interested in freedom of expression.

This website has Mohammed drawings galore. So many, in fact, that they are divvied up into categories like Islamic Depictions of Mohammed in Full, Islamic Depictions of Mohammed with Face Hidden, European Medieval and Renaissance Images, Dante’s Inferno, Book Covers, Satirical Modern Cartoons, The Jyllands-Posten Cartoons, and our personal favorite, Extreme Mohammed. Allah images, Muhammad pictures, it’s got it all.

Holy friggin’ fatwah.

Ed Schultz reveals his foolproof plan to attract an audience

Poor Ed Schultz. No one listens to his radio show. No one watches his TV show. But don’t worry about Ed, because he has a simple plan for success.

Bring back the Fairness Doctrine. That way Ed would get half of Rush’s 600 affiliates, but, we suspect, still have a fraction of his listeners.

Classy to the end: Air America auctions off private email list

Let’s see, Air America broadcast the most toxic programming in the history of radio. They stole money from a children’s charity. They stiffed their own employees for wages and benefits. And then they went bankrupt. Twice. Well, they’re out of business now, so there’s nothing more Air America can possibly do to hurt anyone. Not so fast.

Well, they’re out of business now, so there’s nothing more Air America can possibly do to hurt anyone.

Not so fast.

Turns out the bankruptcy administrator is now selling off Air America’s “not be divulged to any third party” newsletter list and calling it “intellectual property.”

Here, from David R. Malt & Co.’s 435-item listing for the Air America bankruptcy auction, is the relevant portion highlighted in yellow.

This story may just make you wish you were a transsexual

A transsexual cabaret performer named Rose Wood engaged in projectile vomiting on stage and hit Susan Sarandon with it.

One of the few times you’ll ever see Susan Sarandon leaning to the right.

It would almost be worth it. Almost. Because lord knows we’d give almost anything for the opportunity to puke on Susan Sarandon.

Oscar winning actress Susan Sarandon has had a bad time of it lately. The actress recently separated from her long time partner, actor Tim Robbins. Sarandon attended the third anniversary of The Box in New York’s Lower East Side.

A transsexual cabaret performer named Rose Wood engaged in projectile vomiting on stage and hit Sarandon with it.

Standing nearby were Scarlett Johansson and Liev Schreiber.

According to Wood it was not intended as an affront to the actress and she didn’t take it that way.

“Apparently [Sarandon] got a big kick out of it. She squealed with surprise and loved it when several handsome gentlemen wiped it off of her. She had a ball! I saw her assistant downstairs afterward, and he was moved by it! She was in great spirits,” Wood told the New York Press.

Right. Sure. She loved being thrown up on at a fancy-schmancy event. And Johansson and Schreiber were terribly disappointed that they weren’t thrown up on by any transsexuals.

“Why does that Sarandon bitch get to have all the fun,” Johansson reportedly asked.

“I’m throwing a party next week,” Schreiber thought to himself. “I hope some transsexuals show up and puke on my guests.”

Consider this convincing evidence that Sarandon is just as crazy as we’ve always suspected.

Barack Obama’s closest living relative is a conservative blogger and physician. And he doesn’t like ObamaCare.

Irony of ironies. The president’s closest living relative, other than his sister, is Dr. Milton R. Wolf. He’s Obama’s second cousin, a physican, a conservative and a blogger. Cousin Barack will not like his opinion of ObamaCare.

Dr. Milton R. Wolf, America’s second black president’s white second cousin

Irony of ironies. The president’s closest living relative, other than his sister, is Dr. Milton R. Wolf. He’s Obama’s second cousin, a physican, a conservative and a blogger.

Cousin Barack will not like his opinion of ObamaCare:

Our nation laid to rest this week Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha whose death was the result of a surgical error at a government-run hospital. In the same week of this ill-fated surgery, Canadian Premier Danny Williams escaped the clutches of his nation’s socialized medicine system to seek heart surgery in the United States.

These episodes, while anecdotal, underscore the distinction between free-market and government-run health care. And we need look no further than our own country to see both. Fourteen years into my medical career, I have worked and trained in both the free-market and government run sectors of our health care system. I’ve been in the trenches. I’ve seen lives saved. And lost.

Entering a Veteran’s Administration Hospital is a rite of passage for most medical students. It’s a different world. Gurneys in hallways, crowded multiple occupancy patient rooms, waiting lists, nursing shortages, paperwork … these are the norm. Gone are the niceties of most hospitals and, too often, so is the compassion.

There was a running joke during my training days that all the code blue’s of the VA occurred at 7 AM which was the worst possible time for a frantic medical student already trying desperately to finish an endless list of tasks before morning rounds. Why 7 AM? Because an unattended patient — an American war veteran — died quietly sometime earlier in the night and 7 AM is when the poor tech assigned to the morning blood draws would come across the remains. “Cold codes” we called them. These were exercises in futility whose only purpose was to allow a system to pretend that what had just happened hadn’t.

Our veterans deserve better. My patients deserve better. And so do you. There’s a reason why veterans with means will avoid the VA system just as seniors with means will avoid Medicare. The free-market medical care is simply better. So instead of expanding the government-run portions of our health care system, we should be doing exactly the opposite. We should embrace free-market reforms that will abolish junk lawsuits, rein in government insurance commissioners and allow patients to become empowered consumers.

President Barack Obama may be my cousin, but I consider standing in opposition to ObamaCare to be a call to duty. And while it is this assault on America’s health care that has forced me from the sideline to join the fight, I recognize that health care is but one arena where our liberties are under assault by this administration and others.

Nice to see that socialism doesn’t run very deep in the Obama gene pool.

Check out the good doctor’s website.

Media Matters highlights Obama’s major achievements. Pardon us for laughing.

Media Matters lamented the fact that the rest of the media supposedly ignored all Obama’s significant achievements just so they could claim he has “little to show for ’09.”

Average American contemplating President Obama's significant achievements

Time limitations prevent us from searching every word uttered by Media Matters for hidden meaning. You know, kind of like they do with Fox News?

But a recent article by the left wing media watchdog lamented the fact that the rest of the media supposedly ignored all Obama’s significant achievements just so they could claim he has “little to show for ’09.” Media Matters attempted to “correct” this dastardly misinformation, but some of the things they chose to highlight as President Obama’s signficant achievements are downright hilarious.

For example:

“In the third quarter of calendar year 2009, an additional 600,000 to 1.6 million people were employed in the United States…According to the White House Council of Economic Advisers, CBO has increased its estimate to 800,000 to 2.4 million additional employed through the fourth quarter of that year. Moreover, a November 20, 2009, New York Times article reported that the ‘consensus’ among ‘dispassionate analysts’ is that “the stimulus package, messy as it is, is working.” (Apparently the passionate analysts were not as supportive.)

And let’s not forget transparency. The article says, “The Washington Post reported that moves by the Obama administration to improve government transparency ‘included a ban on lobbyist gifts; restrictions on the hiring of lobbyists; publication of White House visitor logs and other records; and a move to bar lobbyists from serving on advisory boards.'” (No mention is made of all the lobbyists actually employed by the White House nor the transparency promised again and again and again regarding healthcare negotiations being broadcast on C-SPAN.)

Finally, the article trumpets the fact that Obama bravely signed the Tobacco Control Acts. (And he signed it, we assume, just before he ducked out to the Rose Garden to light up another Marlborough.)

C’mon, Media Matters, if these minor frivolous footnotes in history are now considered “significant achievements”, we can only conclude that it’s not tobacco that needs to be controlled in your office.

If you know what we mean.

Dead air walking: Air America as seen by Mallard Fillmore

It may say “January 21, 2010” on the death certificate, but Air America really died the day it was born. Mallard Fillmore explained the problem six years ago, soon after the lefty network went on the air.

It may say “January 21, 2010” on the death certificate, but Air America really died the day it was born. Mallard Fillmore explained the problem six years ago, soon after the lefty network went on the air.

Air America goes belly up, ceases live broadcasting

This may come as a huge surprise to most Americans, but Air America is on the air. No. Correction. Make that was still on the air. The little-listened to lefty radio network just announced that it will case live broadcasting and file for bankruptcy.

This may come as a huge surprise to most Americans, but Air America is on the air. No. Correction. Make that was still on the air.

The little-listened to lefty radio network just announced that it will cease live broadcasting and file for bankruptcy.

It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business.

The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America’s business. This past year has seen a “perfect storm” in the media industry generally. National and local advertising revenues have fallen drastically, causing many media companies nationwide to fold or seek bankruptcy protection. From large to small, recent bankruptcies like Citadel Broadcasting and closures like that of the industry’s long-time trade publication Radio and Records have signaled that these are very difficult and rapidly changing times.

Those companies that remain are facing audience fragmentation as a result of new media technologies, are often saddled with crushing debt, and have generally found it difficult to obtain operating or investment capital from traditional sources of funding. In this climate, our painstaking search for new investors has come close several times right up into this week, but ultimately fell short of success.

With radio industry ad revenues down for 10 consecutive quarters, and reportedly off 21% in 2009, signs of improvement have consisted of hoping things will be less bad. And though Internet/new media revenues are projected to grow, our expanding online efforts face the same monetization and profitability challenges in the short term confronting the Web operations of most media companies

When Air America Radio launched in April, 2004 with already-known personalities like Al Franken and then-unknown future stars like Rachel Maddow, it was the only full-time progressive voice in the mainstream broadcast media world. At a critical time in our nation’s history — when dissent on issues such as the Iraq war were often denounced as “un-American” — Air America and its talented team helped millions of Americans remember the importance of compelling discussion about the most pivotal events and decisions of our generation.

Through some 100 radio outlets nationwide, Air America helped build a new sense of purpose and determination among American progressives. With this revival, the progressive movement made major gains in the 2006 mid-term elections and, more recently, in the election of President Barack Obama and a strongly Democratic Congress.

Laws have changed for the better thanks to this revival…..but all the same our company cannot escape the laws of economics. So we intend a rapid, orderly closure over the next few days. All current employees will be paid through today, January 21. A severance package will be offered tomorrow to full-time current employees with more than six months of tenure.

We will strive to assist affiliates and partners in achieving a smooth transition. Starting at 6 pm EST today, we will provide our affiliates, listeners and users a selection of encore programming until 9 pm EST on Monday, January 25, at which time Air America programming will end.

We are proud that Air America’s mission lives on through the words and actions of so many former radio hosts who are active today in progressive causes and media nationwide. In the years ahead, as we look back, we should all be proud of our passionate determination to assure that our nation’s progressive voice would be heard loud and clear. Through the hard work and dedication of current staff, and those who preceded you, a lasting legacy was forged which will now continue through other voices and venues.

Thank you.

No, thank you, Air America. Thank you for the years of laughs you gave rational Americans.

Thank you for providing radio jobs for untalented leftist hacks who couldn’t possibly have found them anywhere else.

Thank you for helping left wing millionaires piss their money away when it could have gone to far more effective uses.

Thank you. Thank you a million times over.

Obama musical opens in Germany, completely different one opens in our minds

A musical about Barack Obama just premiered in Der Faderland this weekend. 30 German singers, actors and dancers will perform in the musical “Hope — the Obama Musical Story”. The songs, believe it or not, are based on quotes from speeches made during the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign.

We say this dog is destined to open and close in one night.

If the producers really want their musical to be a hit, we say rethink the whole thing. Make it more like Mamma Mia! and build it around new arrangements of old rock ‘n roll hits.

We’re talking gold, baby, gold.

So here’s IHateTheMedia.com’s idea of what would make a Hope: The Obama Musical Story a huge international hit.

Obama Foodorama?

Obamafoodorama: It’s all about “White House Food Initiatives…And Other Bipartisan Bytes of Food Politics”.

If you are looking for something completely different it might be time to check out Obamafoodorama. It’s all about “White House Food Initiatives…And Other Bipartisan Bytes of Food Politics”.

Despite that silly description, the site does present a ton of information about White House food programs from a positive and not so positive light.

Take the story about Barugula Obama, for example. The article says that “It was created by Millie Holub of Los Angeles, and is a play on the whole arugula elitism discussion that went on during campaign season. Millie was a big Obama fan, and thought the idea of ‘arugula elitism’ should be reframed: Every president should be well-versed in leafy greens.”

“Arugula elitism?” Of all the different types of elitism that the Obama administration has displayed, this was a new one on us. But apparently this controversy was started during the campaign when “The idea of Candidate Obama being an arugula elitist–out of touch with regular citizens–was a much-noted subject/accusation in the blogosphere, after he asked an audience of farmers if they’d noticed the high price of arugula at Whole Foods. Candidate Obama was in Adel, Iowa at the time, and the nearest Whole Foods was in Omaha, Minneapolis or Kansas City.”

Fact is, we have far less trouble with the guy’s green initiatives than we do with his red initiatives. Although we sometimes have trouble telling them apart.

Doing the job American TV doesn’t: Jihad TV explains what’s really going on in Yemen

What have you learned about Yemen, the new nexus of terrorism, on American TV? We assume your answer is “Nothing.” Enter JibJab.

What have you learned about Yemen, the new nexus of terrorism, on American TV? We assume your answer is “Nothing.”

As BigGovernment.com said, “What a sad comment on the state of US/Western media, that “Jihad TV” is a better source of information pertinent to this aspect of the world war we are engaged in.”

The embedded video is a fascinating look at terrorism from the point of view of the terrorists. BigGov continues:

The war in Yemen also reveals at least one massive hypocrisy on the Left. For all of their talk about the problem with America being that we do business with evil dictatorships around the world, Democrat controlled America sure does appear to be working side by side with the Saudis to fight on their behalf against a Sunni-Shia Jihad alliance/insurgency. Or, perhaps that’s why the President of the United States shouldn’t be seen bowing to the Saudi King. It makes it that much harder to argue that America isn’t doing the king’s bidding in Yemen.

In reality, we think this all mostly falls under “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” In this case, Sunni and Shia terrorists operate as friends (al-Qaeda) against their enemies in the Saudi Royal Family and America, while America operates as friends with Saudi royal family against the Sunni-Shia al-Qaeda factions.

And for all of those Lefties out there who insist that the Sunni and Shia can never work together because they hate each other so much, your theory appears to die with al-Qaeda in Yemen.

Let’s just hope that not too many other things have to die because of these lunatics.

Limbaugh may have had heart attack, liberals definitely have morality attack

Hate has never been demonstrated more clearly than by some of the tweets left by left wing Rush Limbaugh haters upon hearing news of the talk titan’s Honolulu hospitalization.

Get well soon, Rush, and get back behind the golden EIB mic

We attack liberals and the liberal media 24/7 here at IHateTheMedia.com. And although we wish liberal policies would die, we’ve never wished that a liberal would die.

Fact is, we can’t think of any conservatives who’ve wished for the death of any liberals. Sure, there may be a whacked out lone wolf out there who’s done it, but we can’t think of any incident that has caused conservatives en masse to wish for the death of any liberal.

Liberals demonstrate a completely different kind of anger than conservatives do. In short, they hate people, but we hate policies.

Rachel Maddow’s death spiral, another week of record low ratings

Rachel Maddow can't quite put a finger on where her former viewers went
Rachel Maddow can't quite put a finger on where her former viewers went

Things are not going well for MSNBC. Not for the network in general nor for Rachel Maddow in particular.

While the poor dear used to routinely and handily top 1,000,000 total viewers per night, she’s reached that lofty level only once in the last five weeks.

We’re very sad to report that this is her third week of record low ratings within that same five week period (it probably would have been four out of five, but we won’t hold the disrupted Thanksgiving week against her).

And just to make things even worse, her total viewers for the most recent five night period has reached an all-time low, clinging precariously just above the 4,000,000 level. Here are the grim details:

Date Total Viewers
Mon, Dec 14 755,000
Tues, Dec 15 857,000
Wed, Dec 16 915,000
Thur, Dec 17 -806,000
Fri, Dec 18 745,000
Total 4,078,000

It will be interesting to see what Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA), MSNBC’s new owners, decide to do with the also-ran cable news network.

MSNBC is, of course, the network that once billed itself as the Obama Network. Apparently,“The Cartoon Network” was already taken.
