If you’re not on Fox, your ratings picture is pretty grim. All Fox hosts have higher ratings than all their competitors combined. Here’s what it looked like on the night of August 10.

We call your attention to the Glenn Beck ratings. Considering his time slot is during work and drive-home hours for the vast majority of America, his numbers are astounding. Perhaps a rearrangement of the Fox News line-up is in order.

Fox News more dominant than ever, crushing MSNBC and CNN

Fox News is racking up the highest ratings in its 13-year history. The overall ratings at Rupert Murdoch’s network have shot up a remarkable 33% among Total Viewers and up 44% in the Adults 25-54 demographic in the last year. In primetime (Monday-Friday) the network’s dominance is even more shocking. It’s up 35% in Total Viewers and up 54% in younger viewers.

You probably won’t find the following list taped on the refrigerator in the employee lounge at either MSNBC or CNN. It shows that Fox News has all ten of the most watched programs on cable news:

MSNBC and CNN to both hitched their wagon to Obama’s horse. The horse has gone lame.

Unsolicited advice: Do not invite Karl Rove and the publisher of the New York Times to the same party.

There’s a reason Karl Rove is a political advisor and not a diplomatic advisor. He’s just not very diplomatic.

He appeared on the O’Reilly Factor and had this to say about New York Times publisher Arthur “Pinch” Sulzberger:

“I thought Pinch Sulzberger was right to worry about why he had to sell his building and his stock is in the toilet, and I’m glad it is… Look I’m from Texas. You take a New York liberal. I met this guy, little Pinch Sulzberger. He is a elitist, effete snob who thinks he know better than the rest of America and has views that are distinctly outside the mainstream of what America is all about.”

C’mon, Karl. Tell us how you really feel. Don’t be so shy. Do you like the guy or not?

Tea Party coverage leads to surge in Fox ratings

April 15, 2009 (Tea Party Night) Cable News RatingsEveryone’s ratings were up on the night of the Tea Parties, but the ratings at Fox were in the stratosphere. They can’t even see MSNBC in their rear view mirror anymore.

The Comedy Network’s Daily Show and Colbert climbed into the top ten at the expense of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN’S Larry King.

The ratings for Ed Schultz’ EdShow were so abysmal that MSNBC may rename it “Weekday at Bernie’s.” And all that talk about “teabagging” caused Anderson Cooper to suck. Or maybe we should have said his ratings sucked. Yeah, that’s what we should have said.

Olbermann boycotts the truth, says UPS is boycotting O’Reilly

"Sssssh. Let's not have any more talk about retractions."
"Sssssh. Let's not have any more talk about retractions."

Keith Olbermann announced on March 31 that UPS had pulled its advertising from rival Bill O’Reilly’s Fox program.

Uh-oh. Talk about your inconvenient truths. UPS quickly issued a statement saying Olbermann doesn’t know his ascot from a hole in the ground.

“We are writing to clarify our statement of last Friday,” said Norman Black, the national spokesman for UPS, “because it appears to have been misinterpreted. UPS has not ‘pulled’ any advertising from Fox News nor has the company taken a position on the ‘ThinkProgress’ campaign. Our intent on Friday simply was to note that UPS does not have any pending advertising plans with the O’Reilly show.”

O’Reilly is still waiting for Olbermann to retract both his statement and his claws.

Top 10 cable shows for March 10, 2009After several months of soaring ratings, the numbers have dipped a tad over at Fox News. But they’re not complaining, because the numbers are in absolute freefall at MSNBC.

Looks like the election of President Obama is the best news Fox News has heard in years.

Bill O’Reilly out, Fred Thompson in

fred_thompson_jeri_kehnBill O’Reilly’s giving up his day job. He’s leaving “The Radio Factor” and passing the baton to Fred Thompson.

Thompson has an incredibly serpentine career path. Actor. Senator from Tennessee. Actor. Presidential candidate. Actor. And now, radio talk show host.

The Washington, DC-based “Fred Thompson Show” will focus on politics and pop culture. He’ll have guests and take phone calls. It will premiere on more than 125 stations March 2.

One one hand, we’re not really sure if the slow talkin’ southerner will be a very compelling radio host. On the other hand, his wife Jeri Kehn is hot.

Good enough for us.

O’Reilly calls Helen Thomas “Wicked Witch,” she flies off handle

Get the headline? He said she sounds like a witch. Witches ride brooms. Brooms have handles. Thomas flew off the handle. Therefore, we were also saying Thomas is a witch.

Damn, we hate it when the explanation of the headline is longer than the headline itself.

So back to the subject at hand. Bill O’Reilly calls White House reporter Helen Thomas the “Wicked Witch of the East.”

Courtney Martin, a representative from the Women’s Media Center, has a tizzy. She calls O’Reilly sexist for using a cliché about women as witches. O’Reilly wraps things up by telling Martin that she and the WMC “are being used by the left to do this nonsense.”

Seriously, Bill, you may have gone too far this time. Calling Helen Thomas a witch is wrong. Just plain wrong. It’s offensive to witches everywhere.
