Obama can’t close the deal, New York dealers say no more Cash-for-Clunkers

Hundreds of auto dealers in the New York area have withdrawn from the government’s Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government, a dealership group said Wednesday.

Want to know how badly things are going for the Obama administration? Thanks to the Cars-for-Clunkers fiasco, people probably trust car dealers more than they trust the government.

Hundreds of auto dealers in the New York area have withdrawn from the government’s Cash for Clunkers program, citing delays in getting reimbursed by the government, a dealership group said Wednesday.

The Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, which represents dealerships in the New York metro area, said about half its 425 members have left the program because they cannot afford to offer more rebates. They’re also worried about getting repaid.

“(The government) needs to move the system forward and they need to start paying these dealers,” said Mark Schienberg, the group’s president. “This is a cash-dependent business.”

“Well, what’s the big deal,” the President responded. “Why don’t they just print more money like we do.”

Chernobyl all over again: 68 killed in Russian energy plant accident

More people died Monday in a horrible accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya than died at Chernobyl. So why hasn’t it been the lead story on every newspaper and every network newscast. Simple. Chernobyl was nuclear energy plant, which made it bad.

Simple.

Chernobyl was nuclear energy plant, which made it bad. Sayano-Shushenskaya was a hydroelectric plant, which made it good. Good and renewable and green.

There’s one important lesson to be learned from this awful accident: Don’t expect consistency from an eco-wacko.

Obama courts the NASCAR crowd, invites top drivers to White House

When the NASCAR’s top drivers show up for a photo op at the White House today, The One will undoubtedly attempt to convince them that he’s the sport’s number one fan. On second thought, perhaps the Obama administration does have a lot in common with them.

NASCAR may be the architect of the entire Obama administration

Who does the president think he’s kidding? He knows more about bowling than he knows about NASCAR. And he’s already demonstrated that he knows nothing about bowling.

Nevertheless, when the sport’s top drivers show up for a photo op at the White House today, The One will undoubtedly attempt to convince them that he’s the sport’s number one fan.

On second thought, perhaps the Obama administration does have a lot in common with NASCAR drivers:

They both go as fast as possible. They both consistently turn to the left. And they both crash and burn far too often.

than his father

It must be some sort of constitutional requirement that Illinois’ elected leaders be both corrupt and stupid. Jesse jackson, Jr. actually thinks the President made sense when he compared ObamaCare to the post office.

Fox News ratings in stratosphere, now second highest rated of all cable networks

Fox News left its cable news competitors in the dust long ago. Now the network has its sights set on a prize that even Rupert Murdoch would have once thought impossible – number one ratings among all cable networks.

Glenn Beck's ratings have helped propel Fox beyond Rupert Murdoch

Fox News left its cable news competitors in the dust long ago. Now the network has its sights set on a prize that even Rupert Murdoch would have once thought impossible – number one ratings among all cable networks.

Here’s how MediaBistro.com describes the situation:

Last week we reported on Fox News Channel’s primetime programs putting up huge numbers — three nights in a row beating CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and HLN combined in both Total Viewers and the A25-54 demo.

Well now the cable news rankings are out and Fox News was the second most-watched basic cable channel in primetime last week, only behind USA. FNC was 5th overall in Total Day viewership.

MSNBC was 24th in primetime and 32nd in Total Day. CNN ranked 26th in prime and 23rd in Total Day.

That sound you hear is Keith Olbermann whimpering over in the corner.

See last week’s article: O’Reilly-Hannity-Beck go 1-2-3 in cable news ratings again, Fox destroys competition again.

100 days ago Joe Biden promised stimulus bill would create 600,000 jobs by now. How’s that workin’, Joe?

To quote a popular bumper sticker, “Where are the jobs, you lying pile of excrement?” OK, we didn’t really see that last part on a bumper sticker. But we wish we had.

Where are the jobs, Joe? Where are the jobs?
Where are the jobs, Joe? Where are the jobs?

And we quote from a White House press release dated May 13, 2009:

The Vice President today submitted his first quarterly report to the President detailing progress implementing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The report shows early progress providing immediate financial relief for American families and jump-starting billions of dollars in job-creating projects in the first quarter, with both the pace of spending and job creation expected to accelerate significantly in the coming months.

Looking ahead, an additional 600,000 jobs are expected to be created or saved under the Recovery Act in the next 100 days and billions of dollars in contracts and grants are expected to be awarded in the coming months. The report finds that the anticipated funds are already having an effect on economic and job growth as private sector companies staff up to meet expected demand for their products under Recovery Act programs and state and local governments adjust their spending plans ahead of receiving additional Recovery Act funds.

And to quote a popular bumper sticker, “Where are the jobs, you lying pile of excrement?”

OK, we didn’t really see that last part on a bumper sticker. But we wish we had.

Pitt hot for pot except when he’s not

Brad Pitt showed up on Bill Maher’s show the other night to show the world that you don’t have to be stoned to be incoherent. He seems to have taken diametrically opposed positions on the same issue – pot.

Brad Pitt showed up on Bill Maher’s show the other night to show the world that you don’t have to be stoned to be incoherent. He seems to have taken diametrically opposed positions on the same issue – pot.

Early in the interview, Maher asks Pitt about the rumors that he’s going to run for mayor of New Orleans.

“They were asking about running for mayor, which has been a T-shirt in New Orleans,” Pitt responded, “and I said something to the extent of, ‘No religion, legalization and taxation of pot and pro-gay marriage.’ Which is basically the Bill Maher going straight to hell campaign.” (1:10 to 1:48)

Later, Maher asks Pitt why he gave up pot and the movie star replied, “I’m a dad now and you want to be alert.”
(Time: 3:51 to 5:15)

The way we understand this genius’ position, it’s OK to smoke yourself senseless up to the moment you become a father. Maybe even light up a fatty and pass it around the delivery room while you’re becoming a father.

Yup, looks this guy’s dumb enough to succeed Ray Nagin as mayor of New Orleans.

6% of American voters believe in unicorns think they’ll get a tax cut under Obama.

The number of Americans expecting a tax cut has fallen to 6%. During Election 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama promised to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. When he was elected, 22% expected a tax cut.

Three American voters who still believe President Obama will cut their taxes
Three American voters who still believe President Obama will cut their taxes

Hmmmm. How best to sum up the results of the latest research from Rasmussen Reports. How’s this?

The latest research from Rasmussen Reports seems to indicate that 6% of American voters are possibly deaf, dumb and blind. And morons. They’re likely morons, too.

Just six percent (6%) of voters nationwide now expect their own taxes to go down during the Obama years. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 42% expect their taxes to go up while 40% expect little change. Another 12% are not sure.

This is the first time since last November’s election that the number expecting a tax cut has fallen to single digits. During Election 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama promised to cut taxes for 95% of Americans. When he was elected, 22% expected a tax cut. That number has been trending down ever since.

Maybe we’re being too harsh. Maybe we’re wrong.

Nah. They’re idiots.

Obama’s Director of New Media blames email hullaballoo on “sinister conspiracy theories”

In keeping with the administration’s philosophy of never accepting the blame for anything they do wrong, Macon Phillips absolved himself of blame for the White House email snaufu and put the blame for the screw up squarely at the feet of “outside groups of all political stripes.”

What lesson can be learned form this episode? Never trust a guy who looks like that guy from SuperBad
What lesson can be learned form this episode? Never trust a guy who looks like that guy from SuperBad

After warning that mysterious third-party groups could have been responsible for the snafu in which White House e-mails were sent to people who never signed up for them, President Obama’s new media director decided to clear up the confusion. Personally. Right there on the WhiteHouse.gov website.

However, in keeping with the administration’s philosophy of never accepting the blame for anything they do wrong, Macon Phillips absolved himself and put the blame for the screw up squarely at the feet of “outside groups of all political stripes.”

“An ironic development is that the launch of an online program meant to provide facts about health insurance reform has itself become the target of fear-mongering and online rumors that are the tactics of choice for the defenders of the status quo,” he wrote on the official White House blog. “Despite reports by some bloggers and others in the media that have invoked a variety of sinister conspiracy theories, more people signed up for updates last week than during the entire month of July.”

Quick. Close the drapes and take cover, Macon. Those black helicopters are circling the White House again.

Democrat calls for “immediate action” to repair the immediate action Democrats took last month

Turns out car dealers can’t pry money out of the federal government to pay for the clunkers they took in trade. So Democrat congressman Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania is demanding “immediate action” from President Obama to correct the problem that Democrats themselves caused by rushing the Cash-for-Clunkers fiasco into law.

Cash-for-Clunkers is so messed up that even a liberal Democrat is calling it messed up.

So Democrat congressman Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania is demanding “immediate action” from President Obama to correct the problem that Democrats themselves caused by rushing the Cash-for-Clunkers fiasco into law.

According to Sestak, only 2% of claims have been paid and 80% of the applications have been “rejected for minor oversight.”

Auto dealers across the fruited plain are pissed that the government’s Cash-for-Clunkers reimbursement payments are taking far longer than had been promised. Sestak says those complaints aren’t isolated incidents.

One billion dollars down. Another two billion to go. Ain’t big government great?

Latest laughable U.N. global warming claim: 50 million may be displaced by 2010

Koko Warner, a senior U.N. researcher at the loftily-named UN University Institute for Environment & Human Society, claims 25-50 million people will be become refugees as climate change unleashes more natural disasters and slashes farm output.

Koko Warner, a senior U.N. researcher at the loftily-named UN University Institute for Environment & Human Society, claims 25-50 million people will be become refugees as climate change unleashes more natural disasters and slashes farm output.

The Thaindian reports Koko’s dire predictions from the heart of the subcontinent:

“Climate change will displace 25-50 million people by next year. The situation will be the worst in the poorer countries.”

The Thaindian continued:

“Most people will seek shelter in their own countries while others (will) cross borders in search of better odds.

Thanks, Barack: New poll shows more conservatives than liberals in all 50 states

A new Gallup Poll shows that people who call themselves conservative outnumber those who call themselves liberal. Not just in one state, not just in two states, but in all 50 states. This is what we call hope and change.

Back from the dead: It's party time for conservatives
Back from the dead: It's party time for conservatives

Bad news for James Carville, the liberal pundit who predicted that Barack Obama’s election had ushered in a 40-year era of Democrat rule:

A new Gallup Poll shows that people who call themselves conservative outnumber those who call themselves liberal. That’s not just in one state, not just in two states, but in all 50 states. The conservative advantage holds true even in 30 states where Democrats lead Republicans in party identification.

So much for that 40-year socialism thing.

And away we go: 2,000,000 American citizens emigrated to other countries in 2008

We know for sure that Barbra Streisand and Alec Baldwin never left like they promised they would. But 2,000,000 other Americans did pack up and hightailed it for other countries in the last twelve months.

Maybe they're all emigrating to Hollywood. It's not just another country, it's another planet.

In 2008, over two million US citizens fled the United States for greener pastures, and while this figure still represents less than 1% of the total US population, the trend is astounding. Between 2006-2008, the average number of US permanent resident filings stood at roughly 1.1 million/year, placing the legal inflow at negative 900,000 people. In a country of immigrants, the trend is emigration, not immigration.

College student goes mano-a-mano with Obama at Colorado town hall

Zack Lane, a polysci major at asked the University of Colorado Bolder not only hit the President with a tough question, but challenged him to go mano-a-mano in an Oxford-style Debate.

If you’re President Obama, you show up at a town hall event confident that your people have packed the audience with friendly faces. And then some damn college kid stands up and asks an Econ 101 question that exposes you as the fraud you are.

That’s exactly what happened at President Obama’s Town Hall Meeting in Grand Junction, Colorado when Zack Lane, a polysci major at asked the University of Colorado Bolder not only hit the President with a tough question, but challenged him to go mano-a-mano in an Oxford-style Debate.

Congressman tells Lawrence O’Donnell “You’re illustrating why MSNBC’s viewership is in the tank”

It’s been a bad week or so for MSNBC’s grating, obnoxious host substitute Lawrence O’Donnell. A really bad week.

He recently conducted what has been widely called “the worst interview in history” while filling in for Ed Schultz.

Apparently O’Donnell didn’t see the reviews, because he tried the same obnoxious, pushy tactics while filling in for Chris Matthews on Friday.

But this time the result was different. Republican Congressman John Culberson of Texas came out with all barrels blasting:

“You know, Lawrence, for your listeners, you’re illustrating why MSNBC’s viewership is in the tank. Because you don’t allow your people you’re interviewing to answer questions. And, you know, Lawrence, this is why Katie and everybody else is going to Facebook, everyone’s going to the Internet because why listen to MSNBC when you won’t even let the people you’re interviewing answer the question?”

Letting Republican congressmen make you look bad is no way to get a regular gig, Lawrence.

49% of registered voters tire of all-Obama-all-the-time on television

49 percent of Americans say they would like to see less of Obama on television, up from 36 percent who felt that way previously. We fear that the brain trust at the White House will read that 49% want to see less of Obama and interpret it to mean that 51% want to see more of him.

obama leno

The results of a new Fox/Opinion Dynamics poll cannot be encouraging for The Cult of Obama:

“With the president traveling the country to discuss health care and the economy, almost half of Americans (49 percent) say they would like to see less of Obama on television, up from 36 percent who felt that way previously (3-4 March 2009).”

Unfortunately, we fear that the brain trust at the White House will read that 49% want to see less of Obama and interpret it to mean that 51% want to see more of him.

Global Warming Update
Season’s first three storms given incorrect names

The National Hurricane Center has named them Ana, Bill, and Claudette, but we think the names should be reconsidered. They should be AlGore, Barack and Carter. Here’s why.

Hurricanes - Week 11

It’s party time at Goracle HQ. Ten weeks and five days into hurricane season and we finally have the season’s first tropical storm. In fact, we have three of them at the same time.

The National Hurricane Center has named them Ana, Bill, and Claudette, but we think the names should be reconsidered.

The first storm of the season should have been named Algore instead of Ana. It started with lots of bluster and looks like it will eventually peter out in Florida.

The second storm should have been named Barack instead of Bill. It sprang to life somewhere far outside the United States, is marked by a lot of hot air, but doesn’t look like it’s really going to do very much. Nevertheless, it will dominate the television news.

Finally, the third storm should have been named Carter instead of Claudette. It came in from the south and proved to be far weaker than anyone ever anticipated.

Looking forward a few weeks, we anticipate Hurricane Hillary being a dark and angry storm, capable of inflicting major damage to anything in the path of its destruction.

SnowbamaCare: Canadians rethinking single-payer monstrosity

Uh-oh. The Canadian Medical Association believes the country’s system is “sick” and needs help from the doctors to cure it.
“We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize,” said Dr. Anne Doig.

Uh-oh. The Canadian Medical Association believes the country’s system is “sick” and needs help from the doctors to cure it.

“We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize,” said Dr. Anne Doig. The doctor added that it’s a little thing called sustainability that’s causing massive problems with the Canadian health care system.

She added, “We know that there must be change. We’re all running flat out, we’re all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands.”

Why, they’re even uttering the unutterable: They want private insurers allowed back in the Canadian system.

It’s almost like our neighbors to the north were adopting a free enterprise system. Or something.

Maddow says MoveOn.org never ran commercial comparing Bush to Hilter. Is she lying or is she lying?

Dick Armey mentioned that MoveOn.org had once run commercials comparing George Bush to Adolf Hilter. Rachel Maddow was shocked, insisting they didn’t do it. Here’s the commercial.

Like shooting fish in the proverbial barrel.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Former Congressman Dick Armey appeared on Sunday’s Meet The Press. Armey mentioned that MoveOn.org had once run commercials comparing George Bush to Adolf Hilter. Rachel Maddow (or it it Ron Reagan Jr.? We can never tell those two apart) was shocked.

“They didn’t do it,” Maddow insisted. “MoveOn.org never ran an ad that compared Bush and Hitler.”

Armey just smiled knowingly and revealed he had watched the despicable ad that morning.

This commercial, perhaps.

Oh, the humanity. ObamaCare goes down in flames.

The Democrats have filibuster-proof majorities in the house and the senate and yet ObamaCare died a deserved death yesterday because it was so abhorred by the American people.

The Democrats have filibuster-proof majorities in the house and the senate and yet ObamaCare died a deserved death yesterday because it was so abhorred by the American people.

Senator Kent Conrad, one of one of the lead Democrat negotiators trying to hammer out a bipartisan compromise on the Senate Finance Committee, called further work on a government-run healthcare plan a “wasted effort.” He said the so-called public option doesn’t have enough votes to pass.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius suggested the White House is ready to accept a health care reform package without it.

Even President Obama raised the white flag when he casually mentioned that the single payer option was never something he insisted must be in the final bill.

Sure, the Democrats will attempt to get something passed to placate their far left base, even if it bears no resemblance to the socialized medicine program they wanted. But no one will be fooled.

You just can’t reinflate the Hindenberg.
