Reviewer, review thyself: More global warming corruption exposed

Does even a week go by when we don’t discover yet another bit of corruption in the global warming scam? Can we finally come right out and say the whole thing is the greatest scientific fraud since the Piltdown Man?

antarctic-penguins
Don't worry, little fellas, that's not global warming. That's just Al Gore blowing hot air.

The Spectator sums up the latest scandal:

In January 2009, Nature magazine ran a cover story … conveying dramatic news about Antarctica: that most of it had warmed significantly over the last half-century. For years, the data from this frozen continent – with 90 percent of the world’s ice mass – had stubbornly refused to corroborate the global warming narrative. So the study, led by Eric Steig of the University of Washington, was treated as a bit of a scoop. It reverberated around the world. Gavin Schmidt, from the RealClimate blog, declared that Antarctica had silenced the sceptics. Mission, it seemed, was accomplished: Antarctica was no longer an embarrassment to the global warming narrative.

He spoke too soon. The indefatigable Steve McIntyre started to scrutinise his followings along with Nicholas Lewis. They found several flaws: Steig et al had used too few data sequences to speak for an entire continent, and had processed the data in a very questionable way. But when they wanted to correct him, in another journal, they quickly ran into an inconvenient truth about global warming: the high priests do not like refutation. To have their critique of Steig’s work published, they needed to assuage the many demands of an anonymous ‘Reviewer A’ – whom they later found out to be Steig himself.

In a similar vein, independent critics agree that IHateTheMedia.com is the greatest website in history.

Who are those critics? We’d rather not say, but since you bring it up, it may be the Editor and the Administrator.

Now go let your gas guzzler idle in the driveway and flip on all your incandescent light bulbs. The global warming scam is over.

Moronic Media Matters claims Wisconsin protests and Tea Party protests are the same thing

In what amounts to an amazing display of left wing lunacy even by Media Matters standards, the Soros-backed scandal sheet has attacked Fox News yet again.

In what amounts to an amazing display of left wing lunacy even by Media Matters standards, the Soros-backed scandal sheet has attacked Fox News yet again.

What has the evil Fox done now? According to Media Matters, “Fox News’ coverage of the Wisconsin protests over Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal to eliminate public employees’ collective bargaining rights, among other things, has been marked with repeated attacks on the protesters. However, by contrast, Fox has relentlessly promoted and even encouraged viewers to participate in tea party and “Tax Day” protests over the past few years.”

As much as we hate to admit it, Media Matters may have a point. The two events are exactly alike if you overlook the fact that the Tea Party was a grassroots movement that was entirely lawful, while the strike in Wisconsin is an illegal strike by teachers, or the fact that “doctors” wrote phony sick notes for the Wisconsin teachers which were not really necessary for the Tea Party members as once again THEY WERE NOT ACTING ILLEGALLY!

The liberal left, who consider themselves to be intellectual giants, seems to have a hard time with the word “illegal” as in “illegal strike” or “illegal immigrant.”

Speaking of hypocrisy however, why doesn’t Media Matters show some of the signs from Wisconsin portraying the Governor as Hitler and showing him in crosshairs? Wasn’t that the same “violent rhetoric” that the left was condemning mere weeks ago?

On second thought, Media Matters doesn’t have a point after all.

Chris Matthews’ wacky theory explains why Ronald Reagan is Americans’ favorite president

Damn those American people. Damn them to hell and back. They’ve gone and disappointed MSNBC’s Chris Matthews again. Disappointed him horribly, in fact.

Damn those American people. Damn them to hell and back. They’ve gone and disappointed MSNBC’s Chris Matthews again. Disappointed him horribly, in fact.
How? By telling Gallup that the greatest president in history is Ronald Reagan.

“The greatest president in history according to the American people with their limited memory is Ronald Reagan,” Chris sputtered. “Keep in mind these are not historian rankings, these are people’s. By the way you should insist, before anybody participates in one of these ridiculous polls – please list the presidents and then pick the best. Don’t just go with the ones you can remember. It’s like the greatest movie of all time was the one I just went to.”

Just one problem with that “the greatest movie of all time was the one I just went to” theory, Chris.

Reagan got 19% of the votes, but every subsequent president got fewer votes, including Clinton who got 13%, Barack Obama got mere 5% and Jimmy Carter who somehow got 1%.

You might want to start working up a different excuse, Chris.

Wisconsin State Senator schools Chris Matthews: “You’re completely uninformed”

MSNBC host Chris Matthews interviewed Wisconsin State Senator Glenn Grothman and got schooled by the Repubican lawmaker.

Poor Chris Matthews has apparently decided that people aren’t watching his show because he’s not extreme enough. In Las Vegas, they’d call this doubling down.

The MSNBC host interviewed Wisconsin State Senator Glenn Grothman and got schooled by the Repubican lawmaker:

Matthews: Let me go to the Republican, Senator Grothman. My question of course is why does the Governor pick on the unions that didn’t endorse him in the last campaign but give a free ride to the firefighters and the cops who did and the localities? Why did they get off and are allowed to continue to negotiate collectively?

Grothman: Well one more time you’re completely uninformed. The firemen’s union around this state have campaigned against Republicans, and the statewide police have repeatedly campaigned against Republicans. Governor Walker is doing this out of financial necessity. And out of financial necessity the state with a $3 billion budget deficit has to do something. Governor Walker as well as the cities, counties and schools which all rely on state money can either lay people off or have everybody take a mild reduction in take home pay. Myself with a mild reduction in take home pay is part of that. Now we understand…

Matthews: Okay, you just said I’m wildly, once again I’m wildly out of, out of, wrong on the facts.

Grothman: Absolutely.

Matthews: You’re telling me that there aren’t local affiliates, there aren’t local union organizations at the county level, municipal level that didn’t endorse your governor candidate when he ran. Are you saying they didn’t endorse him, the firefighters and the cops?

Grothman: I can think of two small locals. The vast majority, the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, the vast majority of firemen’s unions worked against Walker in this campaign and to say otherwise is completely to mislead your listening audience.

MSNBC mislead its audience, Senator Grothman? This is a gross distortion of the truth, sir, because everyone knows MSNBC doesn’t have an audience.

Black and Puerto Rican Association lawmakers chant “Tax the rich” during Cuomo speech

You know everything you need to know – absolutely everything – about the current state of New York politics when you learn that liberal Governor Andrew Cuomo is now considered an conservative extremist.

You know everything you need to know – absolutely everything – about the current state of New York politics when you learn that liberal Governor Andrew Cuomo is now considered an conservative extremist.

charles-barron
We suppose that Charles Barron's "Tax the rich" chant is an improvement over the 1960s chant of "Eat the rich."

The New York Daily News has the slant on the chant:

Gov. Cuomo’s speech on Sunday night to the Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators was interrupted with chants of “Tax the rich!” led by City Councilman Charles Barron.

Cuomo received a warm welcome as he began to address the group, but within moments Barron (D-Brooklyn) did a Kanye West and stole the spotlight.

“Shame on you,” Barron yelled at Cuomo after walking from the back of the Albany Convention Center to the front.

“Stop the cuts,” Barron said.

“How are you tonight, Charles?” Cuomo said to Barron after the interruption. “I can’t see who it is, but I know who it is.”

Barron, a known rabble-rouser, seized the moment, yelling, “Tax the rich!”

Soon the chant caught on with a small but vocal group in the crowd of more than 500.

Cuomo’s budget calls for deep cuts to education and health care spending to close the state’s $10 billion deficit. He also opposes extension of the state’s so-called millionaire’s tax, which expires at the end of the year.

Why, next thing you know they’ll have signs comparing Cuomo to Hitler. You know, the little moustaches, the hair down across the forehead, the little swastikas.

Give it a week or so. We’ll be the first to say, “We told you so.”

When it comes to public employee unions, FDR sounded absolutely Reaganesque

It turns out that it was Franklin Delano Roosevelt who was absolutely Reaganesque, especially when it came to public employee unions.

In the early days of Barack Obama’s presidency we were told that he was the reincarnation of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Time magazine even ran the cover below in which Obama’s face was Photoshopped onto FDR’s body.

obama-fdr
The Obama-is-FDR story line isn't working as well as the left had hoped

Then the American people rejected the Obama agenda in the 2010 elections, so the Democrats cooked up a new tale for public consumption: Obama is Reaganesque. He was photographed carrying a Reagan bio. The media called his State of the Union address “absolutely Reaganesque.”

Now it turns out that it was Roosevelt who was absolutely Reaganesque, especially when it came to public employee unions.

RealClearPolitics.com lets FDR explain it in his own words:

Roosevelt’s reign certainly was the bright dawn of modern unionism. The legal and administrative paths that led to 35% of the nation’s workforce eventually unionizing by a mid-1950s peak were laid by Roosevelt.

But only for the private sector. Roosevelt openly opposed bargaining rights for government unions.

“The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service,” Roosevelt wrote in 1937 to the National Federation of Federal Employees. Yes, public workers may demand fair treatment, wrote Roosevelt. But, he wrote, “I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place” in the public sector. “A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government.”

So FDR, reviled by conservatives as the father of socialist America, sounds a lot more conservative, a lot more like Ronald Reagan than Barack Obama does.

We’ll let you decide who Obama sounds like.

Perfect: Libya, a member of the U.N. Human Right Council, kills hundreds of protesters

Conservatives howled when Libya was placed on the UN Human Rights Commission, now Libya kills hundreds of their citizens.

The latest news reports say that Muammar Gaddafi’s military minions are now slaughtering people in the streets in an effort to keep the lunatic Libyan in power.

Let’s jump in Mr. Peabody’s Wayback Machine and see how the United Nations dealt with the Libyan dictator just last year:

LIBYA was elected overnight to the United Nations Human Rights Council despite numerous complaints that the country was unfit to serve on the international rights body… But the appeal fell on deaf ears, and a General Assembly secret ballot produced 155 votes in favor of adding Libya to the council, significantly more than the 97 votes needed.

Of course, conservatives howled at the time and said that putting Libya on the Human Rights Commission only proved that the United Nations concept is corrupt from top to bottom.

Liberals scoffed and said, “Rogue nations must be engaged. Putting Libya on the Human Rights Council will help them understand their role in the world.”

You might ask ordinary Libyans how that’s working out.

Warm, caring, open-minded, liberal students at Columbia Univesity taunt disabled veteran

The classy college crowd at Columbia University mocked, jeered and outright laughed at a returning Iraq War veteran Anthony Mascheck, an Army sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times.

Have you ever seen stories about the morons at the Westboro Baptist Church who protest military funerals and wondered, “Where do idiots like that come from?” The answer, it appears, may be the Ivy League in general and Columbia University specifically.

anthony-maschek
The Columbia Taliban jeered veteran Anthony Maschek

The New York Post details how the classy college crowd at Columbia mocked, jeered and outright laughed at a returning Iraq War veteran.

“‘Racist!’ some students yelled at Anthony Mascheck, a Columbia freshman and former Army sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.”

And what had Maschek done to provoke the taunting? He spoke at a town-hall meeting to “issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.”

After saying “It doesn’t matter how you feel about the war, it doesn’t matter how you feel about fighting. There are bad men out there plotting to kill you,” several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native.

Apparently Columbia’s student body is up in arms – pardon our use of violent rhetoric – about the horrors of ROTC returning to their peace-loving campus.

The University had previously rejected the return of ROTC because of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. So now that DADT has been overturned, they’ve come up with a new excuse – the military bans transgender soldiers. According to senior Sean Udell, “Transpeople are part of the Columbia community.”

No word on why Columbia will reject the ROTC after the military begins accepting transgender recruits. Perhaps it will be the fact that they accept so few elite leftist idiots, which will no doubt keep the University in excuses for the next hundred years or so.

Democrats offended that Republicans use the O-word on the House floor

If you’re like us, and for your sake we pray to god that you’re not, you’re probably wondering what offensive word begins with the letter “o.”

If you’re like us, and for your sake we pray to god that you’re not, you’re probably wondering what offensive word begins with the letter “o.”

TheHill.com has the story of Republicans’ o-verly o-ffended o-pponents:

House Republicans and Democrats started Friday morning’s debate over whether to defund last year’s healthcare law, and as part of this debate sparred over whether members should be allowed to call that law “ObamaCare.”

After two House Republicans called it “ObamaCare,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) asked the chairman whether these “disparaging” remarks should be allowed on the House floor.

“That is a disparaging reference to the president of the United States; it is meant as a disparaging reference to the president of the United States, and it is clearly in violation of the House rules against that,” she said.

Of course, Wasserman Schultz’ idiotic plea only egged on Republicans, who ratcheted up their efforts:

… Rep. Denny Rehberg (Mont.), who sponsored the amendment to defund the law, said he refers to it as ObamaCare and said, “You would think he wants his name attached to his signature legislation.

“So we call it what it is,” he continued. “It is ObamaCare. It’s a travesty. It is big government. It is not controlling healthcare costs, and it needs to be repealed and today we’re going to try to defund it to the best of our ability. And if we’re not successful this time, we’re going to try again and again and again until we either have a Senate that’s willing to pass it or a president that understands that we cannot do this to the American people.”

If they’re going to begin banning words from the floor of the House we can think of three more they should consider:

Debbie. Wasserman. Schultz.

Stop the invasion: 67% think states should enforce immigration laws if Feds won’t

Janet Napolitano be damned. A new Rasmussen poll shows that very few Americans agree with the Obama administration’s official policy on border enforcement. It’s a case of the old saying, “Lead, follow or get out of the way.”

janet-napolitano
The American people vote no on Janet Napolitano-style border security

Rasmussen has the details:

In response to the Justice Department challenge of its effort to crack down on illegal immigration, Arizona has sued the federal government for failing to enforce immigration laws. Most voters continue to support Arizona’s new immigration law and strongly believe states should be able to fight illegal immigration if the federal government is not.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% of Likely U.S. Voters – two-out-of-three – think a state should have the right to enforce immigration laws if it believes the federal government is not enforcing them. Just 22% disagree and say states should not have that right…

Arizona is seeking reimbursement in its suit against the federal government, and nearly half (49%) believe the federal government should reimburse states for expenses incurred as a result of illegal immigration. Thirty percent (30%) say the government should not have to reimburse states, but another 21% are not sure.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters continue to favor passage of an immigration law like Arizona’s in their own state. Twenty-eight percent (28%) oppose such a law, and 15% are undecided about it.

If you wondered why Janet Napolitano announced that she wouldn’t run for the vacant U.S. Senate seat in Arizona, look no further. Her policies are about as popular as herpes and her chances of getting elected in that state fall somewhere between slim and are-you-friggin-kidding-me?

NEWS FLASH: Lindsey Graham isn’t a total tool, supports Scott Walker

Lindsay Graham pointed out that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is doing exactly what he said he was going to do when he was elected a mere four months ago.

South Carolina RINO Lindsey Graham guested on Meet the Press Sunday and actually said things – for once – that didn’t make conservatives hair stand on end.

Shocking, but true.

He pointed out that despite all the union goon signs calling Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is a dictator and comparing him (unfavorably, we might add) to Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Hosni Mubarak, he is doing exactly what he said he was going to do when he was elected a mere four months ago.

In other words, he’s doing exactly the people of Wisconsin elected him to do.

Graham: In a democracy, when you run on something, you do have an obligation to fulfill your promise. He didn’t take anybody by surprise, he’s doing exactly what he said. There was a referendum on this issue and the unions lost, and the Democrats in Wisconsin should come back to Wisconsin to have votes.

Far be it from us to be cynical, but it appears that November’s elections have impacted politics in South Carolina as well as in Wisconsin.

Admit it. Don’t you kind of miss Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s Iraq war press conferences? The ones where he’d rip the heart out of any reporter who asked a stupid question?

Rumsfeld is now out flogging a book and Politico.com reports on his appearance on CNN’s State of the Union:

Asked on CNN’s “State of the Union” by host Candy Crowley whether the U.S. is looked at differently than under his tenure, Rumsfeld replied, “I don’t think there’s data that supports that.”

“I think [Obama] has made a practice of trying to apologize for America,” Rumsfeld said.

Rumsfeld also downplayed Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize.

“He had not accomplished a thing when he got the Nobel Prize. It was given to him on hope,” Rumsfeld said. “He’d been in office 15 minutes.”

Our favorite part of this clip was watching Crowley try to construct a question that defended Obama’s popularity around the world when she knows he’s been burned in effigy in Pakistan and Egypt in the last week.

But this is CNN, damn it, and they are the most trusted name in news.

Admitting the obvious: ABC says Obama condemned Scott Walker quicker, more forcefully than Hosni Mubarak

In Egypt you had ordinary citizens attempting to overthrow a despot. In Wisconsin you have union goons attempting to overthrow a democratically-elected governor doing what he was just elected to do.

In Egypt you had ordinary citizens attempting to overthrow a despot. In Wisconsin you have union goons attempting to overthrow a democratically-elected governor doing what he was just elected to do.

Was there really any question which side Obama would come down on in each case?

Nevertheless, it’s shocking to see ABC News attack President Obama:

“The President was quicker and more forceful of his denouncement of Gov. Scott Walker than he was of denouncing Hosni Mubarak,” [ABC Senior Political Correspondent Jon] Karl said. “Madison, Wisconsin – the state of Wisconsin — this is arguably ground zero for the 2012 presidential campaign. Look, this is a state if President Obama loses, he’s almost certainly going to not win re-election,” Karl explained.

This is no mystery. Obviously, President Obama was slower to attack Mubarak because he feels a certain respect for a man who is able to hold power for 30 years against the will of his people.

Global warming heating up the House: Republicans vote to kill funding for corrupt UN IPCC

Things got hot in the House of Representatives in the early hours of Saturday morning and it was all caused by global warming. Missouri Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer sponsored a “defund the IPCC amendment” and his Republican cohorts overwhelmed Democrat opposition in a 244-179 vote.

Luetkemeyer lead up to the vote by reading aloud from a 2009 U.S. Senate report by more than 700 dissenting scientists.

blaine-luetkemeyer
Republican Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer was hot about global warming funding

And we quote Luetkemeyer:

“Scientists manipulated climate data, suppressed legitimate arguments in peer-reviewed journals, and researchers were asked to destroy emails, so that a small number of climate alarmists could continue to advance their environmental agenda.

“Since then, more than 700 acclaimed international scientists have challenged the claims made by the IPCC, in this comprehensive 740-page report. These 700 scientists represent some of the most respected institutions at home and around the world, including the U.S. Departments of Energy and Defense, U.S. Air Force and Navy, and even the Environmental Protection Agency.

“For example, famed Princeton University physicist Dr. Robert Austin, who has published 170 scientific papers and was elected a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Austin told a congressional committee that, unfortunately, climate has become a political science. It is tragic the some perhaps well-meaning but politically motivated scientists who should know better have whipped up a global frenzy about a phenomenon which is statistically questionable at best.

“Mr. Chairman, if the families in my district have been able to tighten their belts, surely the federal government can do the same and stop funding an organization that is fraught with waste and abuse. My amendment simply says that no funds in this bill can go to the IPCC. This would save taxpayers millions of dollars this year and millions of dollars in years to come. In fact, the President has requested an additional $13 million in his fiscal 2012 budget request.

“My constituents should not have to continue to foot the bill for an organization to keep producing corrupt findings that can be used as justification to impose a massive new energy tax on every American.”

It. Is. About. Time.

Veteran arrested for silently turning his back on Hillary

If Hosni Mubarak has moved this decisively, this quickly, this ruthlessly, he’d still be running the show in Egypt. Of course, ol’ Hosni was an amateur autocrat compared to our Secretary of State.

If Hosni Mubarak has moved this decisively, this quickly, this ruthlessly, he’d still be running the show in Egypt. Of course, ol’ Hosni was an amateur autocrat compared to our Secretary of State.

The Sky Valley Chronicle highlights Hillary’s hypocrisy:

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech at George Washington University yesterday condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression – and lauding freedom of speech on the Internet – 71-year-old military veteran Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes and hustled out of the building and, according to McGovern and his supporters, was “brutalized and left bleeding in jail.”

What McGovern did was simply remain standing silently in the audience and turned his back on her as Secretary Clinton began her speech…

According to Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, attorney with the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, “For this peaceful expression of dissent, he ended up bruised, bloodied, arrested, and jailed. Secretary Clinton never paused, continuing her speech lecturing other countries about the need to allow freedom of expression and dissent, while Mr. McGovern was hauled out in front of her.”

McGovern was later found to have his arm covered with bruises. The metal handcuffs were fastened so tightly that his wrists were cut and some blood flowed from the cuts.

After being held by local police, McGovern was told he was being charged with disorderly conduct.

Just based on the name of McGovern’s group, the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, we assume he’s a wacko liberal, but we have to come to his defense.

How does silently turning your back on a public official qualify as disorderly conduct?

Michael Moore has a great new idea and it involves your kids

Adults now ignore fat filmmaker Michael Moore, so he's going after children

Dear High School Students:

…We like to say that we have this great “free press,” and yet how free are high school newspapers? How free are you to write or blog about what you want? I’ve been sent stories from teenagers that they couldn’t get published at school. Why not? Why must we silence or keep out of sight the voice of our teenagers?

It’s not that way in other countries. The voting age in places like Austria, Brazil or Nicaragua is 16. In France, students can shut down the country by simply walking out of school and taking to the streets. But here in the U.S. you’re told to obey and to basically butt out and let the adults run the show.

Let’s change that! I’m starting something on my site called, “HIGH SCHOOL NEWSPAPER.” Here you will be able to write what you want and I will publish it. I will also post those articles that you’ve tried to get published at your school but were turned down. On my site you will have freedom and an open forum and a chance to have your voice heard by millions.

I’ve asked my 17-year-old niece, Molly, to kick things off by editing this page for the first six months. She will ask you to send her your stories and ideas and the best ones will be posted on MichaelMoore.com . I’ll give you the platform you deserve. It will be my honor to have you on my site and I encourage you to take advantage of it.

You are often called “our future.” That future is today, right here, right now. You’ve already proven you can change the world. Keep doing it. And I’d be honored to help you.

Yours,

Horrible, shocking news about Fox News’ Juan Williams

Juan Williams’ son is a Republican.

We don’t know how we missed this one. Young Tony ran for, but lost his bid for the Washington, DC city council back in 2006. But somehow this story slipped right by us.

Here’s how the National Black Republican Association describes the liberal heartache that is young Tony Williams:

Juan Williams who is a liberal intellect and political commentator for NPR and Fox News has a son, Tony Williams, who is a Republican and running for the Washington, DC Ward 6 City Council Seat.

Tony grew up in Washington, DC, and his parents taught him, by example, that America is the land of opportunity and, with hard work, he could accomplish anything.

After living the principles of the Republican Party and becoming successful himself, Tony rejected the socialist policies of the Democrat Party and became a Republican. Tony’s goal as a politician is to help the children of DC get out of poverty and on the on the road to prosperity.

Good lord, Tony  even spent one summer interning in Strom Thurmond’s office and then worked as a speechwriter for former Senator Norm Coleman.

Far as liberals are concerned, the only thing that could make this situation worse is if Tony follows his father’s footsteps and goes to work at Fox.

His United Nations Voting Accountability Act made provision for exemptions in two cases: If the president determined that an exemption was in the U.S. national interest, and if the secretary of state certified that a “fundamental change in the leadership and policies” of a particular government meant it would no longer oppose U.S. positions.

Send money to our friends, don’t send money to our enemies. What a concept!

Obviously, this will never pass. It makes far too much sense.

The good news: Poll shows Obama tied with generic Republican. The bad news: They’re all friggin’ generic.

This new Gallup poll shows both the opportunity and the problem. The opportunity: Obama can be beaten. The problem: All the Republican candidates seem pretty damn generic to us.

This new Gallup poll shows both the opportunity and the problem. The opportunity: Obama can be beaten. The problem: All the Republican candidates seem pretty damn generic to us.

You know, generic. Vanilla. Ordinary. Plain. Unexciting. Would someone please find us a thesaurus and would someone else please find us a candidate?

generic-republican
We have too many damn generic Republicans

TheHill.com has the story of our 2012 conundrum:

A new Gallup poll found registered voters are split over whether they would vote for President Obama in 2012.

Asked if they would vote for Obama or a generic Republican next year, 45 percent said they would support Obama and 45 percent said they would vote for the GOP candidate in the survey released Wednesday.

The poll shows opportunity for the large field of potential Republican candidates looking to defeat Obama on the heels of the Democrats’ “shellacking” in the 2010 midterm elections, when they lost control of the House and six Senate seats.

Come on. Give us Marco Rubio. Give us Allen West. Give us Mike Pence. Give us Paul Ryan. Give us Chris Christie. Give us somebody who can get us fired up.

Because we’re bored to death with these generic Republicans.

Oopsie! Fox News apologizes for “smearing” Ron Paul

Seems like a relatively minor mistake to us, but the left wing blogosphere is atwitter with news that Fox was forced to apologize after intentionally smearing Ron Paul.

We’ve finally found something the left hates more than Ron Paul – Fox News.

Seems like a relatively minor mistake to us, but the left wing blogosphere is atwitter with news that Fox was forced to apologize after intentionally smearing Ron Paul. Faux News lied. Fuks News intentionally defamed Ron Paul. Fox blah-blah-blah.

Justice must be served: Quadriplegic sues Disney for stranding him on “Small World” ride

A quadriplegic man is suing Disneyland after being stranded on the “It’s A Small World” ride for more than 40 minutes during an evacuation.

Go ahead. Try to tell us that you don’t break out in a cold sweat at the mere thought of being stranded on Disneyland’s “Small World” ride. Try to tell us the sound of that annoying song doesn’t fill you with a terror unlike any other.

small-world
They should change the name to "It's A Small, Very Annoying World"

Time Newsfeed has the details:

A quadriplegic man is suing Disneyland after being stranded on the “It’s A Small World” ride for more than 40 minutes during an evacuation.

Jose Martinez is suing the “Happiest Place on Earth” for negligence, emotional distress and liability, claiming that after the famous ride stalled, Disney staff evacuated other passengers, while leaving him and his wife behind.

The lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court by the Disability Rights Legal Center on behalf of Martinez, claims that Disney violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by not having proper procedures in place to evacuate disabled passengers. Martinez also alleges that Disney staffers refused to call the paramedics after the stress of the situation caused his blood pressure to rise.

We pause now for another one of those mildly amusing stories from the Editor’s sordid past:

When I was about 17, my dad’s Rotary Club paid for a group of local Cub Scouts to attend Disneyland’s annual Scout Day extravaganza. My dad decided it would be a character building experience if I were to pack my car full of Cubbies and drive them to the amusement park. The good news was that he paid for my ticket, too.

It was not only the middle of summer, but a particularly hot Southern California day. No, that doesn’t quite describe it. It was freakin’ torrid. Steaming. Hotter than hell. And I was in this amusement park with 10,000 screaming little scouts.

It was fun for a while, but as the temperature soared I desperately began searching for a place – any place – out of the sun. Then I thought of “It’s A Small World.” I handed over what I remember as a “C” coupon (c’mon, It’s A Small World couldn’t have been more than a “C” coupon) and boarded my boat for a short cruise through the air-conditioned building. Life was going to be good for the next seven or eight minutes.

Then, halfway through the ride, the boats ground to a halt. Cool, I thought. Figuratively and literally. I’ll get a few extra minutes in here out of the heat.

Unfortunately, the minutes dragged on. And on. And friggin’ on. I was forced to sit there with a boatload of heat-crazed, screaming Cub Scouts waiting for the ride to start up again.

But the sound of the screaming Scouts was nothing, a mere distraction. The real problem was that damn song. Those friggin’ little foreign-dressed figures kept singing “It’s A Small World” over and over and over again, searing it into my brain, driving me ever close to that fine line between sanity and lunacy.

Eventually – I lost track of time, but it must have been three or four days – they fixed the ride and we completed our circuit of “It’s A Small World.”

To this day, though, I hate that damn song. Absolutely hate it. It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

So, Mr. Jose Martinez, I completely understand why you’re suing Disneyland. I hope you take ‘em to the cleaners. I hope you win so much money that they’re forced to change the name of the place to JoseLand.

That’s what I hope.
