Thursday: Obama says Israel must return to 1967 borders.
Friday: Press Secretary says Obama never said it

Veteran White House reporter Keith Koffler had an interesting exchange on Friday. And by “interesting” we mean, of course, that Carney lied through his teeth and nothing short of waterboarding could force him to admit that’s what he was doing.

Koffler tells the story in his White House Dossier blog:

In discussing President Obama’s decision to say Thursday that Mideast peace negotiations should begin with the assumption that Israel will return to the 1967 borders – give or take some land swaps – Carney yesterday sought to portray Obama’s statement as consistent with existing U.S. policy as outlined in a 2004 letter from George W. Bush to then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Now, this letter wasn’t a “hey, my grandkids are great, how are yours?” type of note. It was official U.S. policy, stating that a return to the 1967 lines was not realistic and that the Palestinian’s “right of return” to Israel proper was null and void. In addition to apparently new policy on the borders, Obama said the right of return issue should be negotiated.

Here’s what Carney said early in the briefing:

I think, again, there is nothing that the President said yesterday that contradicts the 2004 letters that were exchanged between President Bush and Prime Minister Sharon, or what Prime Minister Netanyahu said today in the Oval Office. We — the President said in his speech that a starting point for resolving the territorial issue is the 1967 lines, with mutually agreed swaps and security for both nations.

Carney was using careful language – “nothing that . . contradicts the 2004 letters.” What I wanted to figure out was whether, in fact, the United States is now breaking with existing policy. So in the video below, I asked Carney if he would affirm previous U.S. policy. As you will see, he would not.

Koffler is lucky he even got Carney to admit that Obama made the speech.

“Speech? What speech? I haven’t heard anything about a speech. I’m pretty sure the President was out playing golf on Thursday.”

Strange racist bedfellows: Australia assembles a black-only football team to play South Africa

So apartheid is evil unless you’re segregating the races to play football against South Africa in Africa and the race being excluded is caucasian in which case it’s all dandy.

This one is beyond us. Our feeble intellects are simply not capable of comprehending the thinking behind this.

All these years we thought South African apartheid was evil, that the intentional exclusion of one race by another was unacceptable. But then how do you explain the fact that a race-based football team from Australia has been selected specifically to play South Africa? And how do you explain the fact that it’s being applauded?

The Age reports the odd turn of events as if they don’t see any irony in it:

An AFL match will be staged as an exhibition event at the Africa Games in Mozambique in September. It will be between a team from South Africa and an Australian Aboriginal team.

So apartheid is evil unless you’re segregating the races to play football against South Africa in Africa and the race being excluded is caucasian in which case it’s all dandy.

Surely, there’s some logic in there somewhere. We’re just having trouble finding it.

By the way, if you’ve never seen Aussie rules football, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s like the NFL without pads or the NBA without rules. Don’t know how the players survive each week’s games.

Sherlock Napolitano has lost track of 6 million illegal aliens

Seriously, does Janet Napolitano give you any sense of confidence that the border is being protected and that America is being kept safe? If so, you’re reading the situation completely wrong.

“Well, damn it, where’d they go?” the Director of Homeland Security said. “They were here just a minute ago.”

illegal-alien
Illegal alien playing peek-a-boo with Janet Napolitano

Judicial Watch has the details:

…nearly half of the nation’s estimated 12 million illegal immigrants actually entered the U.S. legally but overstayed their visa, according to a new federal report. That’s because the agency responsible for keeping the nation safe—the Department of Homeland Security—can’t keep track of immigrants who remain in the U.S. after their visas expire.

This clearly creates a huge national security issue because terrorists can plot more attacks from within. In fact, dozens of foreigners convicted of terrorism since the 2001 attacks had overstayed their visas, according to the report, which was published by the investigative arm of Congress known as the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

Pssst. Hey, Janet. Check outside any Home Depot. We pretty sure you’ll be able to find about 5 million of them.

Al Gore, Keith Olbermann and Rupert Murdoch walk into a bar

What are the odds of finding one story that includes Al Gore, Keith Olbermann and Rupert Murdoch? Well, this is your lucky day.

What are the odds of finding one story that includes Al Gore, Keith Olbermann and Rupert Murdoch? Well, this is your lucky day.

In short, Rupert Murdoch hates Keith Olbermann. Al Gore hired Olbermann to work at Current TV. Murdoch-owned Sky Italia TV dropped Current TV from its programming roster. In Gore’s mind, A equals B and B equals C, therefore A equals C.

gore-olbermann
Does anyone know how to say "pompous asses" in Italian?

The Guardian UK reports on the Vice President’s paranoia:

He [Gore] added that the decision reflected how News Corporation operated worldwide. “News Corporation is an international conglomerate with an ideological agenda. It seeks political power in every nation they operate. They wield that power to shut down voices that disagree with the agenda of Rupert Murdoch,” Gore said.

The decision, he added, was “a complete shock” but Current TV executives were told “off the record that the decision was taken on News Corp instructions from New York”. The primary reason, he said, was “because Current is launching Keith Olbermann next month”.

Olbermann – who styles himself as a leftwing alternative to the rightwing shock jock journalism of Fox News – worked at rival cable news network MSNBC until he left abruptly in January. This came after he was briefly suspended by MSNBC in November for making donations to three Democratic candidates in the midterm elections without seeking prior approval, in breach of company rules. “Olbermann has often been critical of News Corporation,” Gore added.

It’s always someone else’s fault with liberals. Why can’t Gore just accept that no one in Italy wants to watch an American network that even Americans don’t want to watch?

Shocker: Democrat accuses three other Democrats of being corrupt

We can’t even remember the last time a member of one party singled out other members of his own party the way former Senator Russ Feingold is doing.

This is one of those “man bites dog” kind of stories. That is, it’s not news when a Democrat calls a Republican corrupt, but it is news when a Democrat calls other Democrats corrupt.

Former Senator Russ Feingold seems to want a few other Democrats to be former Senators

The Hill offers up the surprising story:

Former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.) has tabbed two Democrats and Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman (Conn.) as fit for “shame” for being too beholden to corporate interests.

Feingold, the former liberal senator who leads a new PAC called Progressives United, singled out House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Lieberman (Conn.), an independent who caucuses with Democrats, for a close relationship with corporations.

“This culture of corporate influence and corruption is precisely what we at Progressives United want to change. So we’ve decided to take on those legislators who are unwilling to stand up to corporate power, and we’re naming names,” Feingold wrote in an email, asking for $5 donations to “shame” those lawmakers with online ads.

Call out the Republicans, too, Russ. Clean out the swamp. It’s about time someone actually does the job Nancy Pelosi said she was going to do.

Does this sound like Obama just said he’s abandoning Israel

This is one that seems to have slipped by the media and the pundits. They were so busy analyzing the “1967 borders” comment Obama’s latest Middle East speech that no one caught this brief sentence.

This is one that seems to have slipped by the media and the pundits. They were so busy analyzing the “1967 borders” comment Obama’s latest Middle East speech that no one caught this brief sentence.

“As for security, every state has the right to self-defense, and Israel must be able to defend itself – by itself – against any threat.”

First he says Israel has to return to indefensible borders. Then he says it has to defend itself by itself. As in solo. Without its staunch America allies.

Hmmmmm.

Paul Ryan: “I don’t consult polls to tell me what my principles are or policies should be. Leaders change polls.”

David Gregory had a bad day on Sunday’s Meet the Press. He ran into a smart, articulate buzz saw named Congressman Paul Ryan.

The following exchange took place:

Gregory: According to our polling, nearly eight in ten Americans do not want to cut spending for Medicare, even in the name of cutting the debt. You, I assume, are not doing all this as an intellectual exercise. You would actually like to get reform accomplished…

Gregory: But wait a second, but that really is a dodge. You are the chairman of the committee, yes, you’re serious about entitlement reform, yes. You’re also a politician. You say you want to do it on your terms. Law does not become law without building political consensus, and you don’t have that, and now you had a major figure in the Republican Party say this was right-wing social engineering. So, I’m wondering how much you do feel undercut in actually getting this passed, which I assume is your goal?

Ryan: First of all, if people are describing this accurately in polls, it’s far more popular than the poll you referenced. Second of all, leaders are elected to lead. I don’t consult polls to tell me what my principles are or what our policies should be. Leaders change the polls, and we are leading in the House. We are not seeing this kind of leadership from the President of the United States. The Senate Democrats haven’t even proposed or passed a budget for 753 days and we have a budget crisis. So, yes, we are going to lead and we are going to try and move these polls and change these polls, because that’s what the country wants.

Yes, Paul, that’s what the country wants. A leader. A real leader. Someone like Paul Ryan. But why settle for someone like Paul Ryan when we can have Paul Ryan himself?

C’mon, Paul, how ’bout you reconsider that “I’m not running for President” thing.

Real world education: Recent college grads abandoning Obama

Now that the classes of 2009 and 2010 are out in the real world and have seen that Hope and Change is really smoke and mirrors and can’t get jobs.

Oh, how they worshipped Obama in 2008. How they believed in his message of Hope and Change. How they swooned at his speeches. How they knelt before the Chicago Jesus.

President Obama waves a fond farewell to the college vote

Yeah, well those days are over. Now that the classes of 2009 and 2010 are out in the real world and have seen that Hope and Change is really smoke and mirrors and can’t get jobs, they’ve made a u-turn back to reality.

HotAir.com has the story of their conversion:

A recent informal survey of 500 post-grads primarily between the ages of 22 and 28 — 83 percent of whom voted for President Barack Obama in 2008 — found just 27 percent of Obama’s previous youth supporters plan to vote for him again, The Daily Caller reports. That’s a drop of almost 60 points.

In contrast, of those who voted for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008, a vast majority — 80 percent — said they would vote GOP again. An 80 percent majority of those newly disillusioned by Obama said they would consider voting for a Republican in 2012, too.

George Bernard Shaw said, “Youth is wasted on the young.”

So are political campaigns.

BoingBoing.com has the details:

Vice speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Adam Martynyuk, on the right, throttles deputy Oleg Lyashko during a session in the chamber of the Ukrainian parliament in Kiev on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. According to reports, Lyashko had just asked Martynyuk to let him make a speech, which Martinyuk refused to do on procedural grounds. Lyashko then apparently called his interlocutor a Pharisee, at which point it was on.

Wouldn’t you love to see this same technique put to work in our Congress? Could it be any less effective than the system we have now?

Bring it on. Allen West versus any Democrat.

Lefty cartoonist says it just ain’t right

Rall, author of “The Anti-American Manifesto”, finds himself ostracized by former comrades for being “too tough” in his criticism of President Obama. The poor fellow is having trouble finding work (join the club!)

Irony abounds in recent rantings by lefty cartoonist Ted Rall

Rall, author of “The Anti-American Manifesto”, finds himself ostracized by former comrades for being “too tough” in his criticism of President Obama. The poor fellow is having trouble finding work (join the club!) NOT because of Obama’s policies but because the editors he deals with are enmeshed in a “cult of personality” which reduced them to brain-dead “Obamabots”.

ted rall cartoon
There's an upside to Obama's presidency: Cartoonist Ted Rall is unemployed

Rall dumps on pundit Kevin Drum whose slavish worship of the Golfer-in-Chief drives Ted to incivility:

“So what should I think about [the war in Libyan]?,” asks Kevin Drum in Mother Jones. “If it had been my call, I wouldn’t have gone into Libya. But the reason I voted for Obama in 2008 is because I trust his judgment. And not in any merely abstract way, either: I mean that if he and I were in a room and disagreed about some issue on which I had any doubt at all, I’d literally trust his judgment over my own. I think he’s smarter than me, better informed, better able to understand the consequences of his actions, and more farsighted.”

Mr. Drum, call your office. Someone found your brain in the break room.

Yikes. Sounds like whoever found Drum’s brain was nice enough to wash it before returning it.

Sorry, we’ve said the same thing for years while people like Rall laughed and called us “raaaaacists”.

So even though Ted is singing our song, we’re gonna plug our ears.

Top 10 reasons Obama cancelled the Rapture

Our guess is that President Obama cancelled the Rapture with another one of his undisclosed executive orders. Here are our top ten reasons President Obama did it:

Well, another end of the world has come and gone. This time Harold Camping predicted the Rapture would occur on May 21, 2011 at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

And we’re still here. At least We at IHTM are still here. There’s a good chance we wouldn’t be on the short list of folks raptured up.

Harold Camping: Nuttier than Aunt Leota's fruitcake

Our guess is that President Obama cancelled the Rapture with another one of his undisclosed executive orders.

Here are our top ten reasons President Obama did it:

10. Too busy cooking up his own little Armageddon in Israel.

9. Listen. The world will end due to a range of problems associated with anthropological global warming. Got it? Good.

8. Hollywood called. They didn’t have time to prepare the necessary disaster movie.

7. This whole Rapture thing started during the Bush era!

6. Biden slept through the Rapture preparation meeting. Again.

5. Pre-Rapture golfing outing took a little longer than usual.

4. Thought Rapture was a street poet who extols the killing of police officers.

3. God did not clear this with Rapture Czar.

2. From sound of it, New Jerusalem will not need a community organizer.

1. What Rapture? He’s a Muslim.

We love Herman Cain. The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO announced Saturday that he is officially running for President of the United States. And he did it in front of a crowd of 15,000 rabid supporters.

He closed his speech by saying that when the votes are counted on Election Day in November 2012, and everyone wakes up the day after with Herman Cain as the new President, “We’ll all be able to say, ‘Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty this nation is free again.'”

The Hermanator’s our man. At least until Marco Rubio or Allen West or Chris Christie decide to run. Then we have a tough decision to make.

Newt Gingrich discovers the one thing politicians can’t overcome: ridicule

Actor John Lithgow joins Colbert to give a dramatic, verbatim reading of the Gingrich memo. It sounds like The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

Politicians can overcome scandal, but they can’t overcome ridicule. Think Dukakis in the tank or John Kerry in the clean suit. Once the public starts laughing at a politician instead of with him, it’s curtains.

Which brings us to the case of Newt Gingrich. As has been reported EVERYWHERE, Newt criticized Paul Ryan’s budget plan as right wing social engineering. All hell broke loose and after making feeble excuse after feeble excuse, Newt tried a new tactic – a press release condemning his accusers.

Unfortunately, the press release itself became an object of ridicule because it was so over the top, so floridly written.

We’ve never been fans of Stephen Colbert and Comedy Central’s Colbert Report. We just don’t find his schtick particularly amusing. That being said, this video is hilarious. Absolutely hilarious.

Actor John Lithgow joins Colbert to give a dramatic, verbatim reading of the Gingrich memo. It sounds like The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

“Into the Valley of Death rode the 600.”

You can’t help but laugh. Not just at Lithgow’s reading of the press release, but at the absurdity of the press release itself.

Say goodnight, Newt.

John Kerry, diplomatic free agent, goes to Pakistan, opens mouth, inserts foot

John Kerry is emulating Carter by visiting other countries and then spouting off about his grand and self-aggrandizing accomplishments.

Get out of the way, President Obama. John Kerry is also following in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter. In Kerry’s case, he’s emulating Carter by visiting other countries and then spouting off about his grand and self-aggrandizing accomplishments.

john-kerry
"John Kerry, reporting for self-aggrandizing duty, sir."

This is not sitting well with the Secretary of State.

Jake Tapper reported Hillary’s displeasure on his blog at ABC News:

There appears to be a disconnect between what Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator John Kerry, D-MA, are saying about U.S. relations with Pakistan. Administration officials, and Secretary Clinton, don’t seem particularly pleased by his recent effort in Islamabad.

Yesterday during his visit there Kerry touted that relations between Washington and Islamabad had been “re-set” after the surprise US Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden on Pakistani soil.

Yet today, when asked whether US-Pakistan relations had actually turned the corner, Clinton said there was a long way to go.

“We are working very hard to have an understanding with our counterparts in Pakistan about the best way forward,” she said. “There are important concerns and many questions that have to be addressed and worked through.”

In fact, Clinton made it clear that Kerry didn’t speak for the administration, offering perhaps a pointed dig at the fact that Kerry issued a joint statement with Pakistani officials that was billed as a joint US-Pakistan statement (administration officials insist this was Kerry freelancing).

Remember just a few short months ago when Kerry was supposedly being groomed as Hillary’s replacement as Secretary of State?

Now he’s called a freelancer. A loose cannon. A gigolo who marries wealthy women for their money.

Well, actually, that last one had nothing to do with this story, but we always like to throw it in.

Barack Obama, bravely putting the “I” in CIA

Our modest, self-effacing President went to CIA headquarters on Friday to praise the organization for its work in the bin Laden raid.

Our modest, self-effacing President went to CIA headquarters on Friday to praise the organization for its work in the bin Laden raid.

Listening to his speech, one might have come away with the mistaken impression that he had personally analyzed the data, flown the helicopter into Bin Laden’s compound, lead the SEAL team into the house, and personally shot the man.

While supposedly praising others, he said the word “I” 35 times.

For example: “I have never been more proud or more confident in you than I am today — not just because this extraordinary success, but because it reminds us of who we are as a people and as a nation. You reminded us that when we Americans set our mind to something, when we are focused and when we are working together, when we’re not worried about who’s getting the credit and when we stay true to our values, even if it takes years, there is nothing we cannot do.”

For a guy who’s not worried about who gets the credit, he sure seems interested in who gets the credit.

Strange but true: Obama gas station opens in South Carolina

obama-gas
Obama Gas, which is totally unrelated to Biden Gasbag

Live5News.com fills your tank with the facts:

A gas station on Columbia’s North Main Street has been renamed and redecorated after President Obama.

Two gas stations sit at the corner of Columbia’s North Main Street and Prescott Road, the El Cheapo and another station with a new name — Obama.

“I see more people come in excited with the name,” said owner Sam Alhanik, who got the idea from a friend who created an Obama Gas Station in Michigan.

Alhanik has only owned this station for two months. Although born in Yemen, he says he supports America’s president. “It’s the first president of black people,” he said. “It’s our president. We like him.”

He says he’s seen a boom in business since changing the name, one that has sparked quite the competition with the station across the street. Before our interview, the price at the Obama station was $3.59 for a gallon of regular. The price at El Cheapo $3.54.

When we mentioned the difference during our interview, Alhanik’s cousin lowered the price to $3.53. Just seconds later, the price at the El Cheapo fell too.

“That’s the business,” said Alhanik. “I don’t want to lose everything. It’s a competition.”

Alhanik sells a product that this President abhors. He makes a couple cents per gallon while the government makes far more. If he sells too many gallons the President will call him rich, confiscate what he’s earned and redistribute it to others.

Alhanik may want to reconsider the name.

Palestinian women break through the glass ceiling, now accepted as suicide bombers

If only oppressed, downtrodden American women had the kind of equal rights that Muslim women have. Why, that would be a perfect world.

If only oppressed, downtrodden American women had the kind of equal rights that Muslim women have. Why, that would be a perfect world. A heaven on earth. A paradise where … what’s that? They get to blow themselves up? Never mind.

Congratulations, Palestinian women! You live in a society where you're considered equal to lunatics!

MEMRI has the explosive details:

Hamas Minister of Women’s Affairs Jamila Al-Shanti: “Palestinian society is, by nature, a society of resistance. Resistance does not mean only the bearing of arms. The people who aid those who bear arms are sometimes even stronger than them. The [Palestinian] woman is the wife of a resistance fighter, or the mother of resistance fighters, or else she herself is on the frontline, or she opens her home to resistance fighters. She is capable of doing everything. During the incursions [into Gaza], the women fought in every way possible. They confronted the tanks, they confronted the Zionist enemy.

“All means of resistance are available to women. In addition, we have a long list of female martyrdom-seekers. Need I say more? If you do the math, the number of male martyrdom-seekers is twice the number of female martyrdom-seekers. So the number of female martyrdom seekers is hardly insignificant.

“What does the number of martyrdom women tell us? It means that the women have not left the dangerous places. The women who live along the border did not leave their homes. They say: ‘The resistance is here. If I leave, the Zionist enemy will be able to isolate the resistance fighters.’ So the women remained in their homes, and serve as shields for these fighters.

“Resistance consists of many things, one of which is the bearing of arms – and women bear arms as well. The women are at the service of the military operations and the resistance. There is no realm to which they are denied entry.”

But what about abortions? Can Palestinian women get unrestricted abortions? Because that’s the true sign of an advanced society.

Oh, wait. We forgot that they also send children out as suicide bombers.

Or as liberals call it, retroactive abortion.

Yassar Arafat in a nicer suit

The Jerusalem Post has the particulars:

Knesset members on the Right expressed outrage on Thursday night at US President Barack Obama’s call for the creation of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps in an exchange of territory for security.

They called upon Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to reject Obama’s plan when he meets with him on Friday in Washington.

“Barack Hussein Obama adopted the staged plan for Israel’s destruction of Yasser Arafat, and he is trying to force it on our prime minister,” said Likud MK Danny Danon. “All that was new in the speech was that he called for Israel to return to 1967 borders without solving the crisis. Netanyahu has only one option: To tell Obama forget about it.”

National Union MK Michael Ben-Ari also slammed Obama’s speech, calling it “a landmine with pretty wrapping.”

Environment Minister Gilad Erdan, who as a minister close to Netanyahu must be more diplomatic, complained on Channel 2 that according to Obama’s approach, the Palestinians would receive their demands on borders before negotiations begin.

“Once they have everything from the start, they have no reason to make any concessions, ”Erdan said.

Obama says he wants the two sides to compromise. Unfortunately, when one side wants to exterminate the other side, what’s the compromise? Exterminating every other Israeli?

Harry Reid Is A Moron, Part CCIX: “The court of appeals is where law is made”

As Harry Reid noted of Goodwin Liu after meeting with him, “The court of appeals is where law is made, and we need the finest minds in the world for that.”

We’re looking for volunteers. Who’d like to tell Harry that the courts are supposed to interpret the law and the legislature is supposed to make it?

How Obama really feels about America’s future: A look at his personal portfolio should scare the hell out of you

Maybe it’s just us, but we’d have a lot more confidence in someone who wants to fundamentally change America if he were willing to put his money where his mouth is.

Maybe it’s just us, but we’d have a lot more confidence in someone who wants to fundamentally change America if he were willing to put his money where his mouth is.

We learned earlier this week that President Obama’s personal wealth has exploded in the last five years and that he now be worth as much as $15 million dollars. Those same financial disclosure forms show that he’s willing to make short-term investments in the American economy, but not long-term? Not so much.

obama money
Uh-oh. President Obama isn't making any long-term investments in the American economy.

CNS News has the speculative specifics:

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama own between $2.1 million and $10.25 million in U.S. Treasury securities, according to the president’s financial disclosure form released yesterday.

But all of that money is invested in short-term U.S. Treasury bills and intermediate-term U.S. Treasury notes. None is in long-term U.S. Treasury bonds.

By definition, according to the U.S. Treasury Department, Treasury “bills” mature in one year or less, Treasury “notes” mature in terms of 2 to 10 years, and Treasury “bonds” mature in 30 years.

U.S. Treasury bonds pay a higher interest rate than the shorter-term Treasury notes and bills, but they also carry a higher risk of their value being eroded by inflation.

…As listed on page 3 of the disclosure, the president and first lady own three blocs of U.S. Treasury securities. They own a bloc of short-term Treasury bills worth between $100,001 and $250,000 in a SEP/IRA. They own a much larger bloc of short-term Treasury bills worth between $1,000,001 and $5,000,000 that is not in an IRA. And they own a bloc of intermediate-term Treasury notes worth between $1,000,001 and $5,000,000.

Warren Buffett always says, “Invest in what you know.” It seems clear that Barack Obama knows his policies are long-term losers.

We’re running out of superlatives for Newt Gingrich.

First he set the record for fastest implosion of a presidential campaign by attacking Paul Ryan’s deficit plan two days after declaring his candidacy.

Then, realizing that his words had provided Democrats with advertising ammunition against Ryan and Republicans, he tried to redeem himself by making the dumbest single statement a politician has ever made.

Newt actually said, “Any ad which quotes what I said Sunday is a falsehood.”

In other words, “Who you gonna believe? Me or your lyin’ ears?”

CNN covers Schwarzenegger paternity scandal 23/7

CNN loves the new Arnold Schwarzenegger story. On Tuesday night it covered the former California governor’s paternity scandal at least once every hour.

CNN loves the new Arnold Schwarzenegger story. On Tuesday night it covered the former California governor’s paternity scandal at least once every hour.

Well, that’s not quite accurate. We should have said “at least once every hour with the notable exception of one hour.”

The reason Eliot Spitzer doesn't talk about Arnold Schwarzenegger's sex scandal

NewsBusters delivers the specifics:

During its 5 p.m.-12 a.m. EDT coverage, CNN reported the story every hour except during the 8 p.m. EDT slot – the prime-time show In the Arena with Eliot Spitzer. Spitzer made no mention of the story.

Spitzer was embroiled in a scandal of his own just three years ago as governor of New York. A federal wiretap linked him to a high-end prostitution ring, and he resigned his office abruptly after the news was made public…

Spitzer did find time to offer extensive coverage of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s rape allegations. He also hosted for a sympathetic interview the CEO of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, Rick Welts, who has publicly revealed that he is gay.

Our best guess? Spitzer is offended that he had to pay for it, but Arnold didn’t.

25 naked eco-wackos arrested in strange South Carolina protest

Leftist eco-wackos love to strip naked in the belief that people who don’t yet believe in their cause will suddenly change their minds when exposed to fat, ugly, protesting bodies.

We have nothing against nudity. In fact, we kind of like it. Some of our fondest memories involve nudity.

That being said, not one of those fond memories involves a protest of any sort. No, we’ve given it considerable thought and nary a nude moment in our lives has had anything to do with protesting.

Leftist eco-wackos on the other hand, love to strip naked in the belief that people who don’t yet believe in their cause will suddenly change their minds when exposed to fat, ugly, protesting bodies. It’s a strange theory, yet PETA lunatics, global warming lunatics, supporters of whatever leftist cause you want to name have bared it all for the cameras at one time or another.

Which brings us to this story from South Carolina:

naked protest environment

An artistic mash-up of flesh and bark drew gasps and a chorus of police sirens Saturday at an impromptu photo shoot beneath the majestic canopy of the Angel Oak.

Some 25 people disrobed and posed around the wide, gnarled trunk of the ancient oak as California-based photographer Jack Gescheidt and a documentary film crew recorded the moment in celebration of the tree, which is rumored to be 1,400 years old.

The guerrilla photo shoot was designed to draw attention to the oak’s grandeur and raise concerns about a developer’s plans to build apartments and shops on a larger tract adjacent to the small Johns Island park where the tree lives…

Within three minutes, Charleston police rushed in with sirens blaring and blue lights flashing. The volunteer models were busy hoisting their drawers at that point. They could have taken their time. They were in for long wait as police tried to decide what to do with them. All participants and photographers were detained by police for two hours while they investigated. No charges were filed…

Gescheidt had no permit for the shoot, which was part of his TreeSpirit Project, a collection of photographs featuring naked humans posing vulnerably around trees to call attention to their importance.

We have but one comment: We’ve never seen such a big tree with so many tiny roots.

Chris Matthews’ homoerotic fantasies about Obama as Batman

Chris Matthews has always seemed to be lost in some sort of liberal lalaland, but it all came together on Tuesday night’s Hardball. That’s when he actually compared the President of the United States to Batman.

Chris Matthews is having trouble separating fiction and reality.

Not that this is anything new. He’s always seemed to be lost in some sort of liberal lalaland, but it all came together on Tuesday night’s Hardball. That’s when he actually compared the President of the United States to Batman.

batman-robin-in-bedHe really did.

Matthews: Let me finish tonight with the Joker. Remember him? He was played by Jack Nicholson in that great “Batman” movie by Tim Burton. He was the key to the movie. Why? Because his dark world of malevolence and revenge set in contrast the goodwill, generosity and glamour of our hero. He was to the movie on the bad side what Batman was on the good. Batman stands on tall buildings looking for evil to be perpetrated, people to be saved. The Joker looks for ways to manipulate public opinion, interrupt the TV news, and bring his evil intentions and motives and instincts into reality. Maybe the President today is our Batman, trying to do good, a bit mysterious, a bit cool and technocratic, a bit removed from the world of emotions, but right, right there on the side of good, always using his brains and wit to look out for the people in trouble. Well, maybe he’s not that good.

You might view Matthews’ comments in a different light when you read what Wikipedia says about Batman:

Homosexual and pederastic interpretations have been part of the academic study of the Batman franchise since psychiatrist Fredric Wertham asserted in his 1954 book Seduction of the Innocent that “Batman stories are psychologically homosexual”. He claimed, “The Batman type of story may stimulate children to homosexual fantasies, of the nature of which they may be unconscious” and “Only someone ignorant of the fundamentals of psychiatry and of the psychopathology of sex can fail to realize a subtle atmosphere of homoeroticism which pervades the adventures of the mature ‘Batman’ and his young friend Robin.

Our best guess? Matthews fantasizes about Obama dressed in tights and a mask, six-pack abs rippling, a long dark cape rippling in the breeze. And he pictures himself as Robin, Batman’s young protégé, dressed in a colorful costume and performing whatever deeds his master wants done. If you know what we mean.

Suddenly, we understand why Matthews get a tingle up the leg every time he hears Obama speak.
