The science is settled: 69% think global warming is a crock of something that smells very bad

Uh-oh. In another blow to the Gospel According to Saint Al, it turns out that the vast majority of Americans are apostates.

“The science is settled” is the mantra repeated by global warming true believers to justify their faith in a fraudulent religion. Ad nauseam.

Uh-oh. In another blow to the Gospel According to Saint Al, it turns out that the vast majority of Americans are apostates.

al-gore-global-warmingRasmussen has the details:

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that 69% say it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data in order to support their own theories and beliefs, including 40% who say this is Very Likely. Twenty-four percent (24%) don’t think it’s likely some scientists have falsified global warming data, including just six percent (6%) say it’s Not At All Likely. Another 10% are undecided.

The number of adults who say it’s likely scientists have falsified data is up 10 points from December 2009 .

Fifty-seven percent (57%) believe there is significant disagreement within the scientific community on global warming, up five points from late 2009. One in four (25%) believes scientists agree on global warming. Another 18% aren’t sure.

We just did our own survey. 50% of the IHTM staff thinks Al Gore concocted global warming to line his own pockets and 50% think he did it to advance one world government. The margin of error is 50% one way or the other.

Alan Greenspan loses his mind, recommends hyperinflation as a solution to the debt problem

Stock up on real estate and commodities, because Greenspan is recommending a recipe for hyperinflation.

There was a time when Alan Greenspan was considered a genius? When Congress hung on his every word? When the media swooned at his mere presence? When he was thought of as sexy by Hollywood starlets? What the hell happened?

Our guess? Too many nights sleeping in a malfunctioning hyperbaric chamber with Andrea Mitchell will make a man start thinking strange thoughts.

"Not three, not four, but five gazillion dollars," Alan Greenspan said. "That's all we need to print."

Like this one reported by CNBC:

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan on Sunday ruled out the chance of a US default following S&P’s decision to downgrade America’s credit rating.

“The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that. So there is zero probability of default” said Greenspan on NBC’s Meet the Press.

“What I think the S&P thing did was to hit a nerve that there’s something basically bad going on, and it’s hit the self-esteem of the United States, the psyche” said Greenspan.

Obama and Senate Democrats plan to spin … er … pivot to jobs

The Ballerina-in-Chief is at it again. Now that his debt ceiling melodrama is going on hiatus, Barry and fellow dancers are planning to “pivot to jobs.”

Seems we’ve heard this song before. Yet the unemployment numbers continue to worsen despite the administration’s frequent announcements that it’s now pivoting to jobs.

rahm-emanuel-ballet
It's times like this that the Obama administration really misses the ballet stylings of Rahm Emanuel

Politico’s “exclusive” reveals new revolutions:

Senate Democrats hope they now have “checked the box” on debt reduction and can move to an agenda focused on job creation and economic growth, through a combination of spending and tax cuts.

Sure, worked so well the last two years. Doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result is the definiton of insanity and liberalism.

Many Democrats fear the budget fights of this year have distracted from the issue that will be central to voters in the fall of 2012 – and officials want to get Paul Krugman off their backs.

Running backwards full speed into a wall will also work, both for distracting voters and getting rid of Krugman.

POTUS has closed meeting with AFL-CIO Executive Committee in East Room at 9:15 a.m.

Sounds like Boeing wants to move another plant.

Vice President Biden told reporters… “…[we] should be talking – right now about job creation initiatives. We should be talking about infrastructure. We should be talking about investment in education. We should be talking … about investing in innovation.

No Joe, you should be talking about taking a bullet train out of town. The only thing you people know about jobs is it’s a 4-letter word. The music employers want to hear is Obama’s swan song.

More sensational orational goodness from Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio offers his parting thoughts before the Senate’s August recess. He insists this debate of the last few weeks has just begun. It’s about nine minutes long, but worth every damn second.

Why is it that this guy can speak so beautifully, so emotionally while barely referring to notes, but our Commander In Chief, once called the greatest speaker of all time, can’t get through a sentence without his Teleprompter?

Rubio is scheduled to speak at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California during the recess. That’s only a two hour drive from IHTM Intergalactic HQ, so the Editor and the Administrator may head down that way to be inspired.

Debt ceiling deal might sink the anchor sinking the economy

We’ve all heard how the universally-despised debt ceiling deal did absolutely nothing but that may be incorrect. An unexpected benefit may emerge: the death of Obamacare.

We’ve all heard how the universally-despised debt ceiling deal did absolutely nothing but that may be incorrect. An unexpected benefit may emerge: the death of Obamacare.

It would be a delicious irony, as Hercule Poirot said in “Murder on the Orient Express”, if “…a repulsive murderer has himself been repulsively, and, perhaps deservedly, murdered.” In our case, the murderer is Obama’s signature economy-killing achievement.

obamacare-economyPolitico relays the rumors:

The debt ceiling agreement could jeopardize millions of dollars, and perhaps billions, in initiatives from President Barack Obama’s health care reform law if the super committee can’t come up with required spending cuts.

Many of the pots of money in the law — one of the Democrats’ most prized pieces of legislation — could get trimmed by the debt deal’s sequestration, or triggered cuts.

ObamaCare is a “booby prize” being it was created by a bunch of boobs. It’s authors remind us of the dopey kid who ran to his mom with a handful of crap yelling, “Ma, look what the dog just did!”

“There are at least 15 provisions of the Obama health care law that will find themselves subject to this trigger if the committee is not able to come up with other cuts,” said Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.).

Death by a thousand cuts? Great, make that piece of crap suffer.

The fact that the programs are vulnerable at all means Obama and congressional Democrats did not succeed in their attempts to shield the health reform law from the debt-deal trigger.

Just another thing the a-holes didn’t read. That’s a shame. A real shame.

Hopeless change: S&P downgrades U.S. debt

S&P obviously doesn’t like having a black president signing treasury bonds. There is no other credible explanation for its unexpected action today.

No one realized it until now but Standard & Poor’s, one of the big three credit rating agencies, is a hotbed of raaaaacism. They obviously don’t like having a black president signing treasury bonds. There is no other credible explanation for its unexpected and blatantly raaaaacist action Friday, as reported by the AP:

obama-geithner
Larry and Moe discuss the debt downgrade and wonder where Curly is

Credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s on Friday downgraded the United States’ credit rating for the first time in the history of the ratings.

Unprecedented!

The credit rating agency said that it is cutting the country’s top AAA rating by one notch to AA-plus … because the deficit reduction plan passed by Congress on Tuesday did not go far enough to stabilize the country’s debt situation.

A source … said that the Obama administration feels the S&P’s analysis contained “deep and fundamental flaws.”

Sure, S&P must think Bush is still president.

S&P first put the government on notice in April that a downgrade was possible unless Congress and the administration came up with a credible long-term deficit reduction plan and avoided a default on the country’s debt.

In April, Geithner said there was no chance of it happening. He must’ve meant the credible deficit reduction plan, not the downgrade.

S&P said it was now “pessimistic about the capacity of Congress and the administration to be able to leverage their agreement this week into a broader fiscal consolidation plan that stabilizes the government’s debt dynamics anytime soon.”

They never did this when a white guy was president, but all the black guy had to do is borrow a few trillion and send unemployment skyrocketing and those crackers jump all over him. Racists.

An IHateTheMedia.com apology to Doug McIntyre, #8 on our list of America’s Top Ten Local Talk Show Hosts

To tell the truth, Doug is so damn good that it just plain makes sense that he’s on in a lot more than 26 markets.

When we featured Doug McIntyre’s Red Eye Radio show on our list of American’s Top Ten Local Talk Show Hosts, we said it was carried in 26 mostly dinky towns across the country.

doug-mcintyre
We screwed up. Doug McIntyre is on the air in 75 big markets, not 26 small markets.

We said, “Doug is nationally syndicated, but we bent the rules a little to include him on this list … he’s only in 26 markets and once you get past New York and Los Angeles you haven’t heard of most of them (places like Searcy, Arkansas, Show Lo, Arizona and Wahpeton, North Dakota).”

Doug sent an email to say, “We are actually on over 75 radio stations, including big markets like Boston, Houston, Detroit, Pittsburg, Portland, Miami, Orlando, Tampa Bay, San Antonio, Austin, Birmingham and on and on. Soon to start in San Diego.”

In our defense, well, we really have no defense except to say this is exactly the kind of slipshod journalism regular readers have come to expect from IHateTheMedia.com.

But to tell the truth, Doug is so damn good that it just plain makes sense that he’s on in a lot more than 26 markets.

If you missed this story, go back and listen to the hour of sweet, Red Eye goodness that was included.

Obama, the only adult in the room, was asked to leave the room

Despite the Mostly Sycophantic Media’s efforts to prop up the cardboard cut-out that is Barack Obama, the truth leaks out anyway. Obama’s not fit to be president.

Barack Obama likes to portray himself as the calm, even-tempered, above-the-fray kind of guy, the only adult in the room. The reality is he’s a whiny, spiteful crybaby who has to be kicked out of the room so the adults can get something done.

baby-obama
The only adult in the room

The Hill reveals that during the debt ceiling negotiations, Obama was outstanding … in the hall:

GOP aides and lawmakers, speaking on background, portrayed Boehner as the calm negotiator who repeatedly exasperated President Obama.

Boehner last month asked the networks to televise his response to Obama’s address to the nation, a request which infuriated the White House, Republican sources said.

On July 23, they claim, the White House called Nancy Pelosi, telling her not to participate on a call with Boehner, Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Pelosi informed Reid, who declined to participate, and the call was canceled, the Republican sources said.

Later that day, the four leaders met with Obama at the White House. At one point, GOP officials said, the Democratic and Republican leaders asked Obama and his aides to leave the room to let them negotiate.

Despite the Mostly Sycophantic Media’s efforts to prop up the cardboard cut-out that is Barack Obama, the truth leaks out anyway. Obama’s not fit to be president of an Elvis Presly fan club, much less the United States of America.

The King deserves better, and so do we.

Question of the day: Do you know anyone who supports Obama in 2012 who didn’t support him in 2008?

Seriously. Do you know anyone who’s changed their mind about Obama in a positive direction?

Let’s give credit where credit is due: We saw this question asked over at Ace of Spades HQ and thought it was a great way to get some discussion going.

no obama 2012Seriously. Do you know anyone who’s changed their mind about Obama in a positive direction?

Someone who thinks he’s doing such a bang-up job that they’ve become an Obamatron?

If so, tell us more. Talk amongst yourselves.

A big month for the Chevy Volt: Sales skyrocket to a mind-boggling 4 per day

That’s right. GM sold a grand total 125 Volts last month. Hah! That’ll teach you non-believers.

Those of your who said no one would buy the overpriced and underpowered Chevy Volt will just have to eat crow, because General Motors was able to find four suckers early adapters each and every day in the month of July.

That’s right. GM sold a grand total 125 Volts last month. Hah! That’ll teach you non-believers.

chevy-volt-obama
We're willing to bet that at least 100 of the 125 Volts sold in July were purchased by various government entities

The Weekly Standard has the story:

Way back in March I made fun of the Volt for selling 281 units in February. Turns out, February was a good month. But wait, there’s more! GM says they’re going to increase production to 5,000 Volts per month in order to keep up with demand. You see, they claim that the reason the Volt isn’t selling is that they can’t keep enough cars on the lot. A GM spokeswoman recently claimed that they are “virtually sold out.” Which is virtually true. Mark Modica called around his local Chevy dealers and found plenty of Volts waiting for an environmentally conscious driver to bring them home.

We resent the Weekly Standard’s snide attitude. This is the car of the future. The car that will revolutionize the auto industry. The official car of the Obama administration.

And that’s plenty good enough for us, damn it.

Hilarious: Germany to pay for its new coal power plants by diverting money from climate change fund

Perhaps Germans could figure out a way to power their nation by tapping into the steam coming out of the eco-wackos’ ears.

Angela Merkel’s government has made an announcement that’s sure to make environmental wackos happy – they’re closing down all their nuclear power plants. But Phase Two of the plan will drive the wackos even whackier.

coal-plant-germany
German eco-wackos got their dream and their worst nightmare

Watts Up With That has the details:

Less than a month after the failed Bonn UN climate confab, Germany has announced a most audacious energy policy: in order to shutter nuclear plants (but not completely scuttle their economy), the German government will direct climate fund cash to building coal and natural gas plants. You can’t make this stuff up.

Germany plans to dump nuclear power by 2022 but clearly needs to meet burgeoning electricity demand especially for a still powerful manufacturing economy dependent upon exports. Solar panels at their latitude and windmills are not going to suffice, so the solution is more coal. The environmental movement must be apoplectic with so many politically correct wires crossing at once.

Perhaps Germans could figure out a way to power their nation by tapping into the steam coming out of the eco-wackos’ ears.

Keith Olbermann looking for hippies to fill the streets in protest

Oh, how Keith Olbermann longs for those glorious days of his youth when the streets were filled with protesters and the air was filled with smoky haze of a million joints.

Here’s his plaintive response to the passing of the debt ceiling deal:

And the only response is to be organized and unified and hell-bent in return. We must find again the energy and the purpose of the 1960′s and early 1970′s and we must protest this deal and all the God damn deals to come, in the streets. We must arise, non-violently but insistently. General strikes, boycotts, protests, sit-ins, non-cooperation take-overs – but modern versions of that resistance, facilitated and amplified, by a weapon our predecessors did not have: the glory that is instantaneous communication.

The problem with this concept is that Keith Olbermann’s audience couldn’t fill a phone booth, much less the streets of a small village.

It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase “putting an arrow in your quiver.”

Finally, the Indian Chief and the policeman can be joined in holy matrimony

The Associated Press has the heap big headline:

The Suquamish Tribal Council voted Monday to extend marriage rights to same-sex couples on its reservation near Seattle, after the measure gained support from more than 100 tribal members at a meeting this spring.
The new law allows the tribal court to issue a marriage license to two unmarried people, regardless of their sex, if they’re at least 18 years old and at least one of them is enrolled in the tribe.

It will be up to other courts to decide if unions granted under the Suquamish ordinance will be recognized elsewhere in Washington, said the tribe’s attorney, Michelle Hansen.

Gay marriage is still illegal in the state, but the Legislature this year approved a measure recognizing same-sex unions from other jurisdictions, which include other nations. State lawmakers also have approved so-called “everything but marriage” laws, granting same-sex couples many rights.

Democrat Senators suddenly suffering Jimmy Carter flashbacks

…Democratic lawmakers worry that the Tea Party freshmen have already “neutered” the president, as one told me. They fret that Obama is an inept negotiator. They worry that he should have been out in the country selling a concrete plan, rather than once more kowtowing to Republicans and, as with the stimulus plan, health care and Libya, leading from behind.

As one Democratic senator complained: “The president veers between talking like a peevish professor and a scolding parent.” (Not to mention a jilted lover.) Another moaned: “We are watching him turn into Jimmy Carter right before our eyes.”

Only problem is the Democrats’ tense. He’s not turning into Jimmy Carter. That transformation was completed long ago.

Carney: If it looks like a recession, sounds like a recession and smells like a recession, it ain’t a recession!

White House head double-talker Jay Carney is either an incurable optimist or simply incurable.

Practitioners of the dismal science (some call it “economics”) have poorer prognostication records than the average storefront fortune teller. Still, even they have enough sense to realize a plethora of dark acrid smoke is a strong clue that somethin’ may be a’ burnin’.

jay-carney
Perhaps Carney thinks it's not a recession because it's a depression

AP presents White House Minister of Propaganda Jay Carney starring in Pollyanna:

President Barack Obama’s spokesman is discounting talk that the economy may be headed back into recession, despite recent concerns of economists.

Spokesman Jay Carney says there is no question that economic growth and job creation have slowed over the past half year.

But, Carney told a White House briefing, “We do not believe that there is a threat of a double-dip recession.”

We’d point out that when one’s caught in a downpour, the “threat” of rain is a foregone conclusion.

The recession that began in December 2007 officially ended in summer 2009 and the economy has seen growth since then. However, that growth has slowed to a trickle in recent months.

Sounds like the “trickle down economics” Keynsians are always denigrating until their policies are the stones in the ureter.

He blamed the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, higher energy prices, default worries in Europe and recently resolved uncertainty over raising America’s borrowing limit. Carney said, “We believe the economy will continue to grow.”

Wow, so Japanese natural disasters and European deadbeats are the ones who passed Obamacare and the un-stimulative Stimulus and are harrassing U.S. businesses with stupid regulations? Damn them! Damn them to hell!

Living On Earth is one of those wacky eco-blogs that calls what it does “Sound Journalism for the Whole Planet.” No, seriously, that’s what it says on the website’s masthead.

al-gore-prophet
Al Gore doesn't make a good prophet, but he does make a good profit

FOX: I think the notion of Vice President Gore as a divisive figure is a bit of a hoax, just like the people who are denying climate change. It’s a pre-frame, it’s a fabrication that suits those who want to keep the status quo. So if you have a prophet, if you have someone who has woken up to a particular challenge in the world and that person speaks, if that disrupts things, who is going to be and what are the voices going to be that say that person doesn’t have credibility? Those voices that don’t want that change … There are so many more voices clamoring to hear what he has to say that his right to speak and need to speak is more than made clear virtually every day.
YOUNG: Did you just refer to him as a prophet?
FOX: I think he is a prophet on climate change. I think he woke up to this issue in his earliest years, expected as other people learned about it that they would also wake up to its significance … His presumption as a young man was that once you heard the information the world would shift and start getting its act together, and that hasn’t happened.

There must have been an error in the transcript. Based on his history, we’re pretty sure Fox meant to say, “Al Gore expects to make a profit”, not that he is a prophet.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz: “We’ve really begun to turn the economy around”

Here is, perhaps, the dumbest comment ever made by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), which is quite a difficult competition to judge.

Have you ever seen a photo of DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz that doesn’t look like a mugshot from SmokingGun.com?

No, seriously. Think about it. Maybe do a Google image search and then come back and tell us we’re wrong. We swear every photo of the woman looks like she was just arrested for some heinous crime.

With that in mind, feel free to consider what the Democrats have done to the economy as a crime and consider Wasserman Schultz to be an accomplice.

Here is, perhaps, her dumbest comment ever, which is quite a difficult competition to judge.

“Well, we’re going to focus on what we know is the number one priorities on Americans ease minds right now, that is creating jobs and continuing to get this economy turned around. If we have to drag the Republicans with us, then we’ll do that, but, you know, it’s been a whole lot of months, eight months they have controlled the house with no jobs bills coming to the Floor. Hopefully now with this compromise on the debt ceiling behind us, with the opportunity, with the economic to sit down and focus on longer-term deficit reduction that will have some balance and ask some sacrifice for our most fortunate,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) told MSNBC. Schultz is also the Chairwoman of the DNC.

The other players eventually catch on when you bluff on every hand

Politico.com has Cantor’s comments:

The president has not run a business or created jobs and has proven himself ill-suited to put the economy back on track, the Virginia Republican said in a midday interview on the Wall Street Journal’s website with opinion columnist Peggy Noonan and editor James Freeman.

“I think, frankly, he’s in over his head as to what to do about this economy,” Cantor said.

At one point during negotiations on a deal to raise the debt ceiling, Cantor said that the president chose to play politics rather than working on the substance of the deal. Obama seemed “agitated” by Republicans’ opposition to any measures that might be perceived as tax increases – something that the president wanted in a deal – and, at one point, said, “Eric, don’t call my bluff,” Cantor recalled.

Just a note to President Obama for the future: When you’re bluffing, don’t announce that you’re bluffing.

CNET sorts it all out:

Google’s Street View cars collected the locations of millions of laptops, cell phones, and other Wi-Fi devices around the world, a practice that raises novel privacy concerns, CNET has confirmed.

The cars were supposed to collect the locations of Wi-Fi access points. But Google also recorded the street addresses and unique identifiers of computers and other devices using those wireless networks and then made the data publicly available through Google.com until a few weeks ago.

When Google adopted the motto “Don’t be evil” we all laughed. It seemed like typical snark by typically snarky gen x’ers rapidly becoming what they had long despised.

Some years on we’re not laughing so hard any more. Instead of that motto coming off as a mildly amusing joke it has become something we hope they will someday achieve.

World’s greatest rock ‘n roll band: “We’re flying everywhere and emitting as much as we possibly can”

After reading this story, we think you may agree with us that Cold Chisel may be the world’s greatest band ever.

Cold Chisel is an Aussie band that had a long list of hits in the ‘70s and ‘80s in Australia and New Zealand. They’re still rocking today and about to begin a new tour.

The Rolling Stones are often called “the world’s greatest rock ‘n roll band.” But after reading this story, we think you may agree with us that Cold Chisel may merit the moniker even more.

The Daily Telegraph Australia has the details:

These days the bad boys of rock ‘n’ roll poke society in the eye through the politically incorrect practice of emitting carbon, or at least that’s what Cold Chisel songwriter Don Walker seemed to be saying as the band announced a reunion tour of Australia and New Zealand yesterday. Walker, generally a quiet man who was a rocket scientist before music claimed him, said he wanted to make it clear the tour would be “carbon positive”.

“We’re flying everywhere and we’ll be emitting as much as we possibly can,” he said to much applause.

And in the words of the Steve Miller Blues Band, “Fly like an eagle.” A big, honkin’ carbon dioxide spewing eagle, that is.

Odds are most people have never heard Cold Chisel, so here’s a sample of their work. Enjoy the newly anointed World’s Greatest Rock ‘n Roll Band.

Steny Hoyer confronts reality: The way Democrats passed ObamaCare may have pissed off Republicans

Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) admitted something that seems obvious in retrospect – Republicans were so pissed off about the way ObamaCare was passed that they refused to budget on the debt ceiling.

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) admitted something that seems obvious in retrospect – Republicans were so pissed off about the way ObamaCare was passed that they refused to budget on the debt ceiling.

But his interpretation of the budget deal varies considerably from ours.

steny-hoyer
Why is this man smiling?
The Hill has the specifics:

Hoyer, speaking on CNBC, said he thought part of the reason Republicans have refused to compromise with Democrats on the debt-ceiling package was because of how House Democrats pushed through the Obama administration’s healthcare law.

“I think that’s accurate,” Hoyer said Friday. “I don’t think healthcare was handled the way it should’ve been, but let me tell you why: There was an openness to compromise, but the Republicans said, ‘Look, we don’t like your plan, we’re not going to go there at all,’” Hoyer said.

Steny, dude, far be it from us to intrude on your fantasy with a note of reality, but if there was no openness to compromise, the budget would have been slashed.

It would seem that it doesn’t take too awful much to get smarmy uber-douche Markos Moulitsas’ liberty loathing heart all aflutter. And for the thing making him happy this week? Thinking that he can finally pin the deaths of some innocents on a “Christian-conservative.”

Markos Moulitsas lives in an alternate universe

The Hill published the ravings of our least favorite moon-bat crazy hate mongering Kos Kook:

When news broke of the horrific terrorist attacks in Norway, conservatives reacted with something approximating glee.

Moulitsas continues:

As it turned out, the Oslo attack had nothing to do with al Qaeda. In fact, the terrorist wasn’t even brown. He was a conservative Christian Norwegian who shared an ideology with American conservatives. “In the U.S., the Tea Party movement is one of the first physical, political manifestations which indicate that there is a great storm coming,” wrote the terrorist, Anders Behring Breivik. “The creation of similar conservative organizations, even the creation of revolutionary conservative movements … is about to materialize.”

Never mind the fact that to be a Christian one must be Christ like. Never mind that one cannot be Christ like and a mass murderer. Never mind the fact that to be a conservative one must have a respect for innocent life. Never mind that one cannot be a conservative and a revolutionary.

Just consider that this is the same Markos Moulitsas that tried so desperately to make a political killing out of the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords. And realize that he has had to take an awful lot of cold showers ever since he found out that Jared Loughner and James W. von Brunn were good little leftists like himself.
