ice age global warming
NASA says we need more global warming to prevent this from becoming a common scene in Miami Beach

…According to scientists’ models of Earth’s orbit and orientation toward the Sun indicate that our world should be just beginning to enter a new period of cooling — perhaps the next ice age.

However, a new force for change has arisen: humans. After the industrial revolution, humans introduced increasing amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and changed the surface of the landscape to an extent great enough to influence climate on local and global scales. By driving up carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere (by about 30 percent), humans have increased its capacity to trap warmth near the surface.

So drive that gas guzzler. Turn the heat up in your house. Cancel your plans for that backyard windmill.

Then get a big, furry parka and rent yourself a cave near Palm Springs, baby. The Ice Age is coming.

Chris Matthews to become spokesman for NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association)?

Tell us we’re wrong. Tell us it’s not just a little creepy to hear Chris Matthews enthusing over Obama’s “cute, wonderful, boyish smile we all love.”

Want to hear something slightly disturbing? Something that sounds like it came from NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association?

Tell us we’re wrong. Tell us it’s not just a little creepy to hear Chris Matthews enthusing over Obama’s “cute, wonderful, boyish smile we all love.”

“You know, whatever you say, I want to talk about the subjective president, Gene, your reaction to this. Subjectively, in his heart, he’s a happy man this weekend. That smile, that cute smile we all love in that guy. That wonderful, boyish smile of his he gave us there after he made his little crack about the holiday spirit. I haven’t seen that in months.”

It may be December, but Spring is in the air. Chris is in love. “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has been repealed and he is free to be himself.

Hooters Girls
Guys go to Hooters for the food like they buy Playboy for the articles

SFGate.com has the details:

The National Organization for Women filed complaints against local Hooters restaurants Thursday, but not for exploiting its scantily clad waitresses by subjecting them to leering and groping customers.

The subject this time was Hooters’ catering to children.

The restaurants in San Francisco, San Bruno, Sacramento and Orange County are classified as “adult entertainment” establishments but also serve minors, NOW’s California chapter said in papers filed with police and prosecutors.
What’s more, the organization said, Hooters provides child menus, high chairs and booster seats, and sells T-shirts in children’s sizes that identify the wearer as a “Future Hooters Girl.”

Don’t you suspect that if Hooters didn’t provide child menus, high chairs and booster seats some other liberal organization would accuse them of discriminating against children?

The way we understand this story, NOW is only a proponent of choice if that choice involves aborting a baby. But if parents should make the mistake of actually having that child, the same organization will then deny them their choice of restaurants.

Is that correct?

Say anything: Pelosi claims Obama was a job creator from day one

The devastating losses in the November elections were obviously far harder on Nancy Pelosi than was previously thought. The poor woman has suffered a complete mental breakdown and has completely lost touch with reality.

The devastating losses in the November elections were obviously far harder on Nancy Pelosi than was previously thought. The poor woman has suffered a complete mental breakdown and has completely lost touch with reality.

The soon-to-be former Speaker stood on the floor of the House and said, “Obama was a job creator from day one.”

This, of course, is in complete contrast to reality, which shows that lowest unemployment rate of the Obama administration was on day one. It has done nothing but rise since then.

Bottom line: In the last two years we’ve lost nine million jobs and one mind.

Another reason we love Paul Ryan (in the manliest of manly man ways)

Here’s a very persuasive Ryan explaining why we needed to extend the Bush tax cuts and why he was willing to hold his nose and accept the compromise with the President Obama.

Unless we’re mistaken, Paul Ryan has a big future. Of course, we’re not exactly Jeane Dixon, but that’s never stopped us from making predictions.

Here’s a very persuasive Ryan explaining why we needed to extend the Bush tax cuts and why he was willing to hold his nose and accept the compromise with the President Obama.

Four minutes of intelligent, persuasive public speaking, we might point out, without a Teleprompter.

Obama explains Einstein’s theory of Relativity to a dimwitted reporter

The President is explaining to the dimwitted reporter that because of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, there’s a thousand years difference between the politics of the moment and what we can get done now.

As you near the speed of light, time slows down. So if you left earth and traveled through space for one year, you would return one year older than when you left, but a thousand years might have passed on earth. Or something like that.

obama-genius
We may be getting wet, but the rain fell a thousand years ago for President Obama

We think that’s what the President was trying to explain with this question and answer:

Reporter: You’ve been telling the American people all along that you oppose extending the tax cuts for the wealthier Americans. You said that again today. But what you never said was that you oppose the tax cuts, but you’d be willing to go ahead and extend them for a couple years if the politics of the moment demand it.

So what I’m wondering is when you take a stand like you had, why should the American people believe that you’re going to stick with it? Why should the American people believe that you’re not going to flip flop?

Obama: Hold on a second, Ben. This isn’t the politics of the moment. This has to do with what can we get done right now.

See? The President is explaining to the dimwitted reporter that because of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, there’s a thousand years difference between the politics of the moment and what we can get done now.

You, much like the dimwitted reporter, may think that “now” and “of the moment” mean the same thing, but that’s only because your mind is not traveling at the speed of light like President Obama’s.

Class dismissed.

Harry Reid is afraid of losing power. Very afraid. So all of a sudden he’s doing battle against President Obama and those rascally Republicans who, apparently, have secretly joined forces to do battle against Captain Nevada and the Constitution.

“I’ve been one who does believe in our Constitution, separation of powers. And one of the issues that I have fought (for) is to make sure the White House doesn’t continually take from us our power. Everyone should understand this earmark issue is simply that – a way for the Executive branch of government to steal power we’ve been granted in our Constitution. We have a Constitutional duty to do Congressionally-directed spending. And I don’t want to gie up that responsibility. I can’t understand why some of the more conservative members here want to give up their power. I don’t understand that.”

The audacity of ho-ho-hope: It took hundreds of workers four days to decorate the White House Christmas tree

A new time-lapse video released by the White House reveals the sheer scale of the operation to erect the official Christmas Tree of the First Family with hundreds of workers visible as the Douglas fir begins to take shape.

One tree, four days, hundreds of workers.

Instead of thinking of this as a symbol of the White House’s disconnect with what’s happening in America, think of it as President Obama’s attempt to single handedly solve the unemployment problem.

The Daily Mail UK has the story of excess:

He may have suffered a blow after being forced to compromise with the Republican party over tax cuts but President Obama has not let the setback affect his Christmas.

A new time-lapse video released by the White House reveals the sheer scale of the operation to erect the official Christmas Tree of the First Family with hundreds of workers visible as the Douglas fir begins to take shape.

It took the small army of workers four-and-a-half days to decorate the eighteen-and-a-half feet high Douglas Fir, which will be the centerpiece of the Obama’s second Christmas in the White House, ironically coined, “Simple Gifts” by the First Lady.

By the way, is it still called the White House Christmas tree? Or has that been changed to Holiday tree?

Here’s that time-lapse video.

Mayoral challenger James Meeks came under fire Thursday for suggesting that only African-Americans should be eligible for city contracts set aside for minorities and women.

… “The word ‘minority’ from our standpoint should mean African-American. I don’t think women, Asians and Hispanics should be able to use that title,” he said. “That’s why our numbers cannot improve — because we use women, Asians and Hispanics who are not people of color, who are not people who have been discriminated against.”

Jesse Jackson immediately thought to himself, “Crap. What didn’t I think of that one.”

Like this little gem reported by DailyCaller.com:

Scarborough pointed out the bias at his network, MSNBC, and even offered a particular example. As Scarborough pointed out, MSNBC hosts and guests are always eager to associate judges with which president appointed them – but only if it involves a Republican and a decision with which they disagree.

“I’m just curious, and it was our staff that did it this time – I’m always curious when there is a controversial issue, and [Jon] Meacham, you know this is true, that mainstream media doesn’t like – they always will say ‘a George W. Bush-appointee,’ ‘a Reagan appointee,’” Scarborough said. “It would be legitimate, and you Jon, you know this it to be true when a Democrat does something unpopular, they never say ‘a Clinton appointee.’ Never, never. People’s champion Bernie Sanders fights for your right to work harder for less money

Bernie Sanders uses terms like “fairness” and “for the children” while he seeks to children with trillions more in debt. At the same time, he seeks to punish those whom have the audacity to create jobs that diminish dependence on government.

Bernie Sanders is a socialist from Vermont. What is so special about that, you might ask? Nothing. But, unlike all but one other person from Vermont, Bernie is also a United States Senator. This makes his whole existence as an authoritarian all the more troubling to you, us and everybody else in the country.

Bernie, you see, has the power to steal from some citizens, give those ill-gotten gains to other citizens and then collect votes for being the middleman. And that’s exactly what Sanders has been up to this week.

Sanders is good at what he does. He’s been at it a long time and has mastered the one thing necessary to sustain this sort of scam – the art of double speak.

For that reason Sanders uses terminology like “fairness” and “for the children” while he seeks to saddle those children with trillions more in debt. At the same time, he seeks to punish those whom have the audacity to create jobs that diminish dependence on government.

Make no mistake, Bernie Sanders has no love for working families. As a socialist there is no greater obstacle to his goals than a strong middle class. Unless maybe it’s a strong upper class.

Here’s Bernie asking the rich “when is enough enough?” Mayhaps he should ask the same question of public sector unions instead.

By the way, this video is from CSPAN-2. CSPAN is awesome. It is like ESPN for smart people.

MSNBC’s Richard Wolffe was Ferguson’s guest on Wednesday night and tried to explain why he was against any extension of the Bush tax cuts. The following conversation ensued:

Wolffe: I am a journalist.

Michelle’s austerity program: First Lady wears second-hand dress to White House Christmas party

Some of the nouveau riche don't really care about the nouveau poor

The New York Post has details of the horrifying haute couture:

Michelle Obama is once again setting the style world abuzz — wearing a thrift-store dress to the “Christmas in Washington” concert, which was taped Sunday and airs on TNT tonight.

The “couture” black-lace overlay frock, featuring a high, square neckline and a full skirt was plucked from New York Vintage in Chelsea.

The secondhand 1950s piece — believed to be the first vintage dress worn by a first lady to a public event — was made by American designer Norman Norelli, who died in 1972 and was among the most influential designers of his time.

The store’s owners would not say how much the first lady paid for the dress, but prices for vintage clothing have risen dramatically as quality pieces have become wildly popular among celebrities and on the red carpet. One estimate for this hand-me-down was $2,500.

$2500 for a second-hand dress. That’s nearly eight times that average annual income in Kenya, a country chosen entirely at random for comparison purposes only.

Michelle Antoinette really is the perfect nickname for this woman, isn’t it?

Today’s headlines on CNN: Bombs found in house … students protest tuition hikes … Jeff Daniels has diarrhea … and CNN wonders why its ratings are in the dumper.

Somebody screwed up at CNN. We assume some video editor was watching Dumb & Dumber instead of paying attention to what he was supposed to be doing. The result? A disgusting scene from the raunchy comedy showed up in the middle of a CNN story about, well, we’re not really sure what it was about because, after all, it was CNN and we weren’t paying attention, either.

It can happen. We have a friend who had a brief brush with notoriety back in the late 60s when he was a videotape editor at a TV station in Southern California. Late one night he made the mistake of hitting the wrong button while watching porn at work, sending a graphic scene out over the air.

The bad news? He got fired. The good news? He became famous when Johnny Carson mentioned it in his opening monologue a few nights later.

A group of young undocumented Democrats expresses its heartfelt gratitude for America's hospitality

The Culture & Media Institute reports:

The Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ)’s Diversity Committee has announced that it will be launching a year-long campaign to educate journalists about the hurtfulness of phrases like “illegal immigrant,” which is the term currently preferred by the influential AP Stylebook.

The label “remains offensive to Latinos, and especially Mexicans, and to the fundamentals of American jurisprudence,” wrote Leo E. Laurence, a member of the SPJ Diversity Committee and the editor the San Diego News Service.

Although the article doesn’t say what the new preferred term should be, we assume it will be “undocumented Democrat.”

Please note that we have never used the term “illegal immigrant” here at IHateTheMedia.com. We prefer the term “illegal alien” because the term “illegal immigrant” is too friggin’ wishy washy for us.

Cancún can’t: The failure of the global warming scam summed up in four quotes

cold-cancun
Delegates at the UN's Cancun meeting experienced record low temperatures in the Mexican resort

Ben Webster in The Times UK:
The climate change conference in Cancún has ended with failure to set a target date for the reduction of carbon emissions. The Mexican hosts persuaded 192 out of 193 countries to accept the “Cancún agreement” by the simple trick of aiming for the lowest common denominator — the agreement was secured by deferring decisions on all of the most contentious issues.

Nitin Sethi in The Economic Times of India:
Under the new Cancun deal, each country will be allowed to offer whatever it wishes to pledge for emission reductions on its own volition. There shall be no cumulative target to reach. No one shall ask if the individual targets are collectively adequate or not. The new regime will only check if the pledges have been acted upon or not. Rich countries, including the US, will offer emission reduction targets and others, such as India, will offer their mitigation actions as part of a new deal which can be said to be defined by the bottoms up approach. Under the agreement India will get off easy. Because it let others off easy as well.

Walter Russell Mead in The American Interest:
That is the big news out of Cancun; the green agenda has fallen into a UN black hole and for now at least it cannot get out. The “success” of Cancun is a best case scenario from the skeptic’s point of view. The cost of funding endless UN gabfests in exotic tourist locations (next up: South Africa in 2012) is trivial compared to the cost of any serious efforts to deal with carbon emissions on the scale current scientific theory suggests would be needed. Bureaucrats will dance, journalists will spin and carbon will spew, and the greens will be unable to escape this dysfunctional UN process for years and maybe decades to come.

Ronald Bailey in Reason Online:
The United Nation’s climate change conference here in Cancun came to an end at around 4 a.m. this morning. It would be cynical to call it a bribe, but the Cancun agreements were largely reached because the rich countries continued their vague promises to hand over $100 billion in climate aid annually to poor countries beginning in 2020.

Obama doesn’t like the left to compare politicians to Nazis. Especially if he’s the politician.

Now that Keith Olbermann has compared Obama to the Nazis, he’s decided that those comparisons are verboten.

We’ve been racking our brain and we just can’t recall President Obama complaining when his left wing cohorts called George Bush a Nazi. But now, now that Keith Olbermann has compared Obama to the Nazis, he’s decided that those comparisons are verboten.

Don't blame us. Keith Olbermann said it.

Politico.com has the tale of Obama’s displeasure:

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs advised the liberal commenter Keith Olbermann on Monday to refrain from using comparisons to Nazi Germany after the MSNBC host likened President Obama’s deal on tax cuts to Nazi appeasement.

“Whenever you compare anything to what the Nazis did, if you ever get to that point in your speech, stop, because nothing does, and hopefully, God willing, nothing ever will,” Gibbs told reporters.

Asked if Obama heard Olbermann’s “special comment,” Gibbs replied, “I doubt the president heard that.”

Olbermann was reportedly devastated by the news that the President doesn’t tune in to catch his nightly therapy session.

“The President doesn’t watch my show? But I went to an Ivy League-ish school. I read James Thurber on the air every Friday. I was once fired by Rupert Murdoch. I say ‘good night and good luck’ at the end of my show just like Edward R. Murrow. The only conclusion I can draw from this unwarranted rejection is that Obama really is a Nazi.”

Americans’ assessment of Congress has hit a new low, with 13% saying they approve of the way Congress is handling its job. The 83% disapproval rating is also the worst Gallup has measured in more than 30 years of tracking congressional job performance.

Hypocrisy at its finest: Julian Assange asks British judge to keep his address secret

Suddenly, when it comes to his home address, Julian Assange believes in secrets

The Daily Mail UK has the story:

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange tried to hide his bail address from the public in an astonishing move for the man responsible for leaking thousands of diplomatic secrets.

Assange’s lawyers argued that the location – a 10-bedroom stately home – should not be disclosed on grounds of privacy during yesterday’s hearing at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

But the move was dismissed by District Judge Howard Riddle, who ruled not to reveal the address would conflict with Assange’s commitment to open justice.

The judge insisted the address – Captain Vaughan Smith’s Ellingham Hall on the Norfolk/Suffolk border – was read out in open court as usual.

Poetic justice.
