Florida man says he’s innocent, his perverted cat downloaded that child porn

Keith Griffin has been charged with 10 counts of possession of child porn after detectives found more than 1,000 child pornographic images on his computer. He says the cat did it.

Keith Griffin has been charged with 10 counts of possession of child porn after detectives found more than 1,000 child pornographic images on his computer. He says the cat did it.

Griffin says he made the mistake of leaving his cat in the same room as his computer. The cat, he claims, jumped on the keyboard, stepped on some random keys, and voila! Child porn was downloaded by the perverted cat.

Far as we can tell, this is evidence that Griffin is not just a scumbag, he’s a stupid scumbag.

Griffin is being held in the Martin County Jail. The cat is free on bail and is currently living in a witness protection program.

Democrats get you going and coming: propose taxes on toilet paper and every mile you drive

A few weeks ago Blumenauer proposed a tax on toilet paper. Now he’s introduced a bill that to study vehicle miles traveled (VMT) as a supplement or possible replacement for the current per-gallon fuel tax.

Earl Blumenauer has figured out how to get around his mileage tax, but still hasn't figure out how to get around the toilet paper tax
Earl Blumenauer has figured out how to get around his mileage tax, but still hasn't figure out how to get around the toilet paper tax

You have to give Oregon Democrat Earl Blumenauer credit for being creative. He’s introducing tax concepts that no one else in Washington, DC has the guts or stupidity to propose.

A few weeks ago Blumenauer proposed a tax on toilet paper. Now he’s introduced a bill that to study vehicle miles traveled (VMT) as a supplement or possible replacement for the current per-gallon fuel tax.

Of course, the bill doesn’t specify what happens to the existing fuel tax if a VMT program were adopted. But we’re willing to go out on a limb here and guess that the VMT will somehow end up as an additional tax, not a replacement tax.

Not everyone is enamored with the idea. In fact, we’d guess that most people hate it. For example:

“The current system of levying federal taxes on trucks is as discriminatory as it can be to small business, and harmful, but there are lots of unanswered questions with a VMT. And those questions need to be resolved before we start launching down that path,” said Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) Executive VP Todd Spencer said.

Sacre Blue! Universal healthcare going broke in France

The French system’s fragile solvency shows how tough it is to provide universal coverage while controlling costs, the professed twin goals of President Barack Obama’s proposed overhaul.

Gratuitous, completely unrelated photo of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, France's hot First Lady
Gratuitous, completely unrelated photo of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, France's hot First Lady

One quick disclaimer: We hate France. We hate the French. We hate Napoleon. We hate DeGaulle. We have Charles Aznavour. We hate Jerry Lewis just because the French love him. We like Carla Bruni, but only because she’s hot.

That being said, France’s friggin’ healthcare system has been held up as the perfect example, the ideal, the epitome of what America’s healthcare should look like. So it is with great pleasure that we pass along this report from the Wall Street Journal:

“… soaring costs are pushing the system into crisis. The result: As Congress fights over whether America should be more like France, the French government is trying to borrow U.S. tactics.

In recent months, France imposed American-style “co-pays” on patients to try to throttle back prescription-drug costs and forced state hospitals to crack down on expenses. “A hospital doesn’t need to be money-losing to provide good-quality treatment,” President Nicolas Sarkozy thundered in a recent speech to doctors.

Do not question Lord Vader Congressman David Scott

Some ObamaCare proponents in congress have shut down their town hall meetings. Some have run from their constituents. Others, like Georgia Democrat David Scott from Georgia, have gotten a little hot under the collar.

Democrats are testy these days. They just didn’t expect opposition to their hairbrained healthcare scheme and they don’t know how to handle it. They thought the lemmings would quietly and compliantly step off the cliff.

Wrong.

It’s been quite a week. Some ObamaCare proponents have shut down their town hall meetings. Some have run from their constituents. Others, like David Scott, the distinguished Democrat congressman from Georgia, have gotten a little hot under the collar.

One of his constituents, a physician, had the temerity to ask the Congressman about ObamaCare. The congressman responds by erupting in anger and accusing him of “hijacking” the town hall, despite the fact that attendees had been told that no subjects were off limits during this open question-and-answer session.

They’re disintegrating, folks. Falling apart at the seams.

It’s is a joy to watch.

Christian terrorists arrested in North Carolina

This week the FBI arrested six men who organized terrorist ring right in the heart of conservative North Carolina. This dangerous group of Christian extremists were plotting to… What’s that? They weren’t Christians? They were actually homegrown Muslims?

Remember a couple months ago when Janet Napolitano issued a report warning about the dangers of “homegrown” terror and suggested that conservatives needed to be watched?

Well, damned if she wasn’t right. This week the FBI arrested six men who organized terrorist ring right in the heart of conservative North Carolina. This dangerous group of Christian extremists were plotting to…

What’s that? They weren’t Christians? They were actually homegrown Muslims?

Well, that certainly screws up this story.

Dumb Question of the Day: “Congressman Ellison, is your family signing up for ObamaCare?”

Keith Ellison, the Democrat Muslim Extremist (forgive us for wallowing in redundancies) from Minnesota, is asked by a constituent at a Town Hall meeting if he’ll give up his rich congressional healthcare plan and apply for coverage for himself and his family under ObamaCare.

The question comes just after the 1:00 mark.

Rather than answer the question, Ellison hands the microphone to a nearby moonbat like he’s in a relay race and it’s a baton.

The only thing he was running from, though, was the truth.

Duh! U.S. forecasters finally get around to predicting mild Atlantic hurricane season

This is the quietest start to hurricane season in nearly two decades. The last time the first storm formed as late as August 5 was way back in 1992.

Ahhhh, this global warming feels great.
Ahhhh, this global warming feels great.

As we’ve been reporting every Monday morning, this is the quietest Atlantic hurricane season in years. So far we haven’t had a single tropical depression, storm nor hurricane.

So three months after issuing its last hurricane prediction, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration finally accepted reality and updated its 2009 forecast. Its new prediction is for a below-normal to near-normal season with seven to 11 named tropical storms. That’s down from a range of nine to 14 in the May forecast.

President Obama ignores First Amendment, says he doesn’t want some folks to do a lot of talkin’

President Obama, who supposedly taught Constitutional law at University of Chicago, must have skimmed that dang First Amendment a little too quickly when he was speed reading the Constitution.

President Obama took a day trip to McLean, Virginia to promote his howling dog of a healthcare plan. He made it clear that his opinion is the only one worth hearing.

“But I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.”

Environmentalists will be pissed off if you don’t pee in the shower

A Brazilian environmental group wants you to save the rainforest by peeing in the shower. We see a problem. There’s another eco-wacko ad campaign that tries to convince people to save water by showering with a friend.

Of course. Absolutely. For sure. Why didn’t we think of that?

A Brazilian environmental group wants you to save the rainforest by peeing in the shower. Here’s the logic behind the strange request: If a person flushes the toilet just one less time per day it would save 1,157 gallons of water per year. Multiply that by however many Brazilians there are and you save a bunch of water.

Oregon spends $176 million in stimulus funds to create jobs that only last one week

Oregon spent $176 million to supplement federal stimulus funds. Democrats are taking credit for a remarkable feat: creating 3,236 new jobs in the program’s first three months. But those jobs lasted on average only 35 hours, or about one work week.

Add the three, carry the six, divide by 52. Yes, the answer is 3,000,000.
Add the three, carry the six, divide by 52. Yes, the answer is 3,000,000.

It’s been widely reported that the Obama aministration says its going to create or save 3,000,000 jobs.

Now,thanks to the Associated Press, we know how it’s going to be done:

“Oregon spent $176 million to supplement federal stimulus funds. Democrats are taking credit for a remarkable feat: creating 3,236 new jobs in the program’s first three months. But those jobs lasted on average only 35 hours, or about one work week. After that, those workers were effectively back unemployed, according to an Associated Press analysis of state spending and hiring data. By the state’s accounting, a job is a job, whether it lasts three hours, three days, three months, or a lifetime. “Sometimes some work for an individual is better than no work,” said Oregon’s Senate president, Peter Courtney.

Apparently, Obama didn’t mean he was going to create or save 3,000,000 full-time jobs, just 3,000,000 one week jobs. Or 60,000 full-time jobs.

But based on Oregon’s experience, we can’t afford those jobs. The state spent $54,388 per job over that three month period. If the program were extended out over the course of a year, each job would cost the state an average of $217,472.

This from the same band of geniuses who want to take over your healthcare.

Cash-for-Clunkers is a poorly-disguised tax on the poor

ABC’s brilliant John Stossel explains that Cash-for-Clunkers will crush poor people along with all those clunkers since it is taking affordable used cars off the road.

Your tax dollars at work: $1,000,000,000 to destroy functioning automobiles
Your tax dollars at work: $1,000,000,000 to destroy functioning automobiles

Lawmakers love laws. They love to write ‘em, love to pass ‘em, love to amend ‘em. But the one law they seem to completely ignore is the Law of Unintended Consequences.

ABC’s brilliant John Stossel explains the unfortunate intersection of Cash-for-Clunkers and the Law of Unintended Consequences:

Another unintended consequence of the Cash for Clunkers program is that poor people who can’t afford new cars – or expensive used cars — will be crushed along with all those clunkers. If you can only afford $500 – $1,000 for a car, you’ll find many of these vehicles are now unavailable. They have been sent to the junk yard thanks to this program.

Nobel Prize for Economics, coming up.

Saluting Democrat Steve Kagen, the only member of Congress who won’t accept federal healthcare benefits

Congressman Steve Kagen won't accept the lavish congressional healthcare plan
Congressman Steve Kagen won't accept the lavish congressional healthcare plan

Here are words you won’t often find at IHateTheMedia.com:

We’d like to congratulate a Democrat.

To be specific, we’d like to congratulate Wisconsin Democrat Steve Kagen, who is the only member of Congress who refuses to take the rich healthcare benefits lavished on itself.

Kagen says he’ll continue to refuse them until every American citizen is offered the same kind of generous coverage.

“Kagen recently had knee surgery,” the Los Angeles Times reports, “writing checks for more than $4,500 after bargaining for a reduced-rate MRI and a 50% discount on the operation. (He is still dickering over the hospital bill.)”

That simple paragraph explains exactly what’s wrong with all the pie-in-the-sky plans proposed in Congress. Kagen negotiated. He dickered. He actually took control of his own healthcare instead of handing it over to some nameless, faceless, uninterested third party.

Proof that the marketplace is alive and well, even if socialized healthcare is dying.

Red Chinese worried about red ink in American budget

The Chinese should relax and remember the immortal words of Alfred E. Newman, "What, me worry?"

Consider it another step toward Armageddon: It’s reached the point that Communist China is lecturing the United States about it’s massive deficits.

President Obama dispatched little Timmy Geithner to China to calm the frayed nerves of the Chinese government. It holds $8901.5 billion in U.S. Treasury debt, more than any other nation, and they’re worried that our skyrocketing deficit will trigger massive inflation and/or devastate the dollar. Either scenario is bad news for their investments.

“We sincerely hope the U.S. fiscal deficit will be reduced, year after year,” Assistant Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao said.

“The Chinese government is a responsible government and first and foremost our responsibility is the Chinese people,” he continued, “so of course we are concerned about the security of the Chinese assets.”

Geithner reassured them by saying, “Where can a guy find some good mu shu pork around here?”

Obama placates another leftist dictator, pulls plug on electronic message board in Havana

President Obama has ordered the State Department to take down an electronic message board in Havana, Cuba that promoted democracy, because he says that it’s causing friction with the island nation’s Communist dictatorship.

President Obama wants to make sure Cuban citizens aren't bothered by any messages about democracy
President Obama wants to make sure Cuban citizens aren't bothered by any messages about democracy

President Obama has ordered the State Department to take down an electronic message board in Havana, Cuba because he says that it’s causing friction with the island nation’s Communist dictatorship.

And we can’t have that, can we?

Back in 2006, the Bush administration erected the message board in the windows of the American diplomatic mission overlooking Havana’s main coastal highway.

It aimed dangerous, subversive messages at the Cuban people such as “Democracia-en-Cuba” (“Democracy in Cuba”).

The Castro brothers didn’t take kindly to this dastardly talk of democracy. They attempted to block the message from view by draping huge black flags from 100-foot-high flagpoles in front of the diplomatic mission. And if any inquisitive Cubans made the mistake of looking up as they passed the mission, armed guards shooed them along their way.

Kind of like the Black Panthers shooed voters away from that Philadelphia polling place. You know, the Black Panthers the Obama administration has decided not to prosecute.

Ahhh, it all starts to make sense now.
