One tells jokes, the other one is a joke, as this story clearly demonstrates. Larry O’Donnell made not one, but two bonehead blunders on his show Monday night.
One tells jokes, the other one is a joke, as this story clearly demonstrates.
Larry O’Donnell made not one, but two bonehead blunders on his show last week.
First, he got the words to “America the Beautiful” wrong when he said, “God shed His light on thee” instead of “grace.” If Palin had made that same mistake, MSNBC would present an entire week of shows declaring her an idiot and un-American (which they’ll do anyway.)
Later in the show, Larry let his Palin Derangement Syndrome blind him while citing a joke Palin made over the weekend. Referring to Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank’s call for a “Palin Free February” in the media, she said it sounds good because “there’s a lot of chaos in Cairo and I can‘t wait to not get blamed for it—at least for a month.”
Larry the Cable News Guy’s misinterpretation of the joke comes at the 5:20 mark of the clip below.
Yes, that’s right. Palin mocks Larry and the media for their obsession with her, and Larry thinks she’s mocking Egypt.
Considering where Larry’s head usually resides, you’d think it would be easy for him to discern that he was the butt of the joke.
There are no cheerleaders at the Super Bowl today, since neither the Steelers nor Packers has a squad. But here is TV commercial with a not blonde in it to hopefully make up for it. It has boobs and is funny, so why not?
Nando’s is a restaurant chain that started in South Africa and now has stores in 38 countries (including one in Washington D.C.) They specialize in Portuguese chicken dishes.
We found a comment that said this was a South African commercial, but the blonde is definitely an Aussie, so we’re not sure where it was made. We could get into a long discussion about whether the commercial was done in Australia or whether it was done in South Africa to make fun of Australians or whether …
Who cares? It’s funny and it has boobs.

Nigel Farage is one of the United Kingdom’s representatives to the European Parliament. Think of him as Chris Christie with an English accent.
The best thing about Farage is that he somehow got himself elected as the UK’s representative to an organization in which he doesn’t believe. He regularly takes his turn behind the microphone and tells the Eurocrats exactly what the thinks of them and their economic and social machinations.
“We’ve reached a point with this, actually, where it doesn’t matter what any of you say,” Farage rages. “Nobody believes you. The public don’t support you. I hope and pray the markets break you.”

What’s that? He’s not eligible because he’s not an American citizen? Ahhh, if only he’d been born Kenyan instead of British.
According to newly released information, our Commander in Chief wanted the Russians to sign the dubious START Treaty so badly that he gave them the UK’s nuclear secrets as an incentive.
Thanks to Wikileaks, we’ve finally found someone more traitorous than Wikileaks itself – President Obama.
According to newly released information, our Commander in Chief wanted the Russians to sign the dubious START Treaty so badly that he gave them the UK’s nuclear secrets as an incentive.
The lesson to be learned: America can't be trusted by her friends
The Telegraph UK has the horrifying story:
The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.
Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week.
Defence analysts claim the agreement risks undermining Britain’s policy of refusing to confirm the exact size of its nuclear arsenal.
The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”, which is shown often to be a one-sided affair by US diplomatic communications obtained by the WikiLeaks website.
Details of the behind-the-scenes talks are contained in more than 1,400 US embassy cables published to date by the Telegraph, including almost 800 sent from the London Embassy, which are published online today. The documents also show that…
…A series of classified messages sent to Washington by US negotiators show how information on Britain’s nuclear capability was crucial to securing Russia’s support for the “New START” deal.
Although the treaty was not supposed to have any impact on Britain, the leaked cables show that Russia used the talks to demand more information about the UK’s Trident missiles, which are manufactured and maintained in the US.
Washington lobbied London in 2009 for permission to supply Moscow with detailed data about the performance of UK missiles. The UK refused, but the US agreed to hand over the serial numbers of Trident missiles it transfers to Britain.
This is what you call a win-win for Russia and a traitorous-traitorous for everyone else.

CBS Boston has details of what Perry Mason would have called The Case of the Boisterous Bruise:
Police found 34-year-old Troy Burston wounded outside a home on Exchange Avenue at 10:40 p.m. Sunday. He was not wearing a shirt and had been stabbed in the chest.
He was rushed to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he died.
Police arrested his wife, 39-year-old Shawntina Burston.
Investigators say the two had come home from a party and began arguing and hitting each other. She allegedly found a hickey on his neck and stabbed him with a cooking knife.
Looks like she didn’t buy the old “Honest, honey, my neck ran into a door knob” excuse.

“At the end of the day, if you are going to provide health care to all of our people in a cost-effective way, you have to get rid of the health insurance companies, not profiteering and bureaucracy.”
Ssssssh. Quiet, Bernie. The sheeple aren’t supposed to know that’s the real goal.

The Daily Mail UK has the details of the marital mayhem:
James Brolin may want to give this idea serious consideration next time Barbra Streisand leaves the country
An immigration officer tried to rid himself of his wife by adding her name to a list of terrorist suspects.
He used his access to security databases to include his wife on a watch list of people banned from boarding flights into Britain because their presence in the country is ‘not conducive to the public good’.
As a result the woman was unable for three years to return from Pakistan after travelling to the county to visit family.
The tampering went undetected until the immigration officer was selected for promotion and his wife name was found on the suspects’ list during a vetting inquiry.
The Home Office confirmed today that the officer has been sacked for gross misconduct.
There’s a lesson to be learned from this. And the lesson is, quick, someone find out when Barbra Streisand’s next international tour is scheduled.
Jimmy Carter’s presidency has always been known for two things – economic malaise and losing Iran. Now he can add a third achievement to that dismal legacy – losing Egypt.
Jimmy Carter’s presidency has always been known for two things – economic malaise and losing Iran. Now he can add a third achievement to that dismal legacy – losing Egypt.
Carter has always taken great pride in the fact that he was the midwife at the birth of the Camp David Accords, which were signed by Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin and Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat on September 17, 1978.
Menachem Begin, Jimmy Carter and Anwar Sadat solemnly gather in 1978 to mark the loss of Egypt in 2010
Now it turns out that Carter’s proudest achievement is just as disastrous as his other achievements.
The Jerusalem Post has the pathetic particulars:
“After Camp David, all the Arab world sees that we are no longer a leader. Camp David made us a slave”
Like many at Tahir square on Tuesday night, 26-year-old Mohammed Salama of Cairo spoke of an eagerness for Egypt to shelve its nearly three decade old peace agreement with Israel, but insisted he does not want the country to go to war with Israel. In his hands he held a sign reading in Arabic “Netanyahu is worried about Mubarak”, which he said he wrote because “this is my country and my leader, I don’t want him to care about Israel, only about my country.”
… Salama’s friend, Hazan Ahmed, 29, said the years of peace with Israel are tinged with the sting of humiliation, and that Egyptians still feel they’re country is not completely free of the Israeli occupation of the Sinai which ended under Camp David.
“The Egyptian army can’t enter Sinai, we feel that it is still Israel. There are Israeli people there all the time, but when we go, we have to stop at checkpoints and we get turned back. We don’t feel that Sinai is Egyptian.”…
Ahmad Ragab, 42, spoke more vehemently towards Israel saying “look, all Egyptian people hate Israel, only Sadat wanted Camp David …”
Nice work, Jimmy. You so-called peace plan has been festering in the hearts of Egyptians for 30 years.
Maybe you should write another anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic book that explains how the Jews caused this problem.

George Orwell has come back from the dead to write editorials down at USA Today, where truth is fiction, black is white, and green is definitely red.
The Detroit News explains:
In a leap of Orwellian logic, USA Today — America’s second-largest newspaper — argues in its lead editorial Tuesday that banning the incandescent light bulb is a victory for free markets.
“The best way for government to boost energy efficiency isn’t to micromanage by picking winners and losers, a job better suited to free-market innovation. It is to set a reasonable standard — miles per gallon or light per watt, for example — and let the market sort it out,” spins the editorial in support of picking winners and losers. “That’s what Congress did in 2007” in banning the bulb.
War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. Banning is choice. Regulation is freedom.
One wonders if USA Today’s editors would tolerate this doublethink if applied to their own industry. Were Congress to ban newspapers in order to force them onto the more “planet-friendly” Internet, would USA Today swallow this as free market economics?
Fox said the Fixed Point Foundation’s John 3:16 Superbowl commercial was rejected for “advancing particular beliefs or practices.” And that, apparently, is against company policy.
We’ve said it plenty of times. We’re not particularly religious and our main focus here at IHateTheMedia is fiscal conservatism, not social conservatism. That being said, we can’t figure out why Fox rejected an innocuous Super Bowl commercial from a Christian group.
Fox said the commercial was rejected for “advancing particular beliefs or practices.” And that, apparently, is against company policy.
The Fixed Point Foundation’s commercial shows a bunch of guys watching a football game on TV. After a close-up shot shows John 3:16 written on a Tim Tebow-ish player’s eye black, the guys do what we’ve done many times and wonder what it means. Then they take the step we’ve never taken – they look it up.
That’s it. That’s the whole commercial. No overt preaching. No suicide bombings of infidels. No beheadings of non-believers.
By the way, in case you’re wondering, here’s what the verse says:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
IHateTheMedia.com’s crack team of investigative reporters and Egyptologists has put some alternate reasons that explain the outbreak of rioting in Cairo.
Oh, sure, the mainstream media tells you the Egyptians are rioting because they’re pissed at America and because they’re pissed at Israel and because they’re pissed at Mubarak and because they’re pissed at each other. But there are other reasons the Egyptians are pissed. Reasons the mainstream media never talks about.
Luckily, IHateTheMedia.com’s crack team of investigative reporters and Egyptologists has ferreted out some others reasons for the rioting in Cairo. Such as:
1. Angelina Jolie being cast in the remake of Cleopatra.
2. Nation’s failure to inspire a Top 40 hit or stupid dance craze since the mid-1980’s. (See video on left.)
3. Tired of Iranian dominance of the “Crazy Muslim Caucus” at Arab League meetings.
4. Facebook’s “Everybody Draw Ramses Day.”
5. Twilight series of books and movies doesn’t feature a mummy character along with the vampire and werewolf kid.
6. Cairo Blockbuster bringing back late fees.
7. They just found out that the Library of Alexandria was burned down.
8. Practicing soccer hooliganism for upcoming World Cup.
See #10. You be pissed, too, if you tried to enlist in the Camel Cavalry and found out it had been disbanded in 1919.
We have bad news for those of you hoping for a reunion between Rupert Murdoch and Keith Olbermann. It ain’t gonna happen. Murdoch has made it clear he doesn’t want the obnoxious former MSNBC host anywhere near Fox Sports.
We have bad news for those of you hoping for a reunion between Rupert Murdoch and Keith Olbermann. It ain’t gonna happen. Murdoch has made it clear he doesn’t want the obnoxious former MSNBC host anywhere near Fox Sports.
The Daily Caller has the disappointing details:
In a FNC interview that aired Wednesday, host Neil Cavuto asked News Corporation CEO Rupert Murdoch if he would consider rehiring Olbermann, who was canned from the network.
“No,” Murdoch said. ”We fired him once, we don’t believe in firing people twice.”
“You called him a ‘nut,’” Cavuto said.
“Well he was a nut on…We had him on ‘Late Night Fox Sports’…It was impossible,” Murdoch said.
Olbermann worked at Fox from 1998 to 2001, when Murdoch gave him the boot.
“I fired him…He was crazy,” Murdoch said.
C’mon, Rupert. Don’t you think it would be fun to rehire Olbermann just so you can fire him again? Kind of like Val Halen does with David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar every couple years.
Hire him, Rupert. Fire him, Rupert. Make his head spin like Linda Blair in the Exorcist.
Five South Dakota lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require any adult 21 or older to buy a firearm “sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense.”
Thanks for five creative legislators in South Dakota, Democrats are about to learn the meaning of the phrase “hoisted on your own petard.”
The Argus Leader has the particulars of the petard:
Five South Dakota lawmakers have introduced legislation that would require any adult 21 or older to buy a firearm “sufficient to provide for their ordinary self-defense.”
Barney Frank has come out against the individual mandate since he learned that it includes neither a man nor a date
The bill, which would take effect Jan. 1, 2012, would give people six months to acquire a firearm after turning 21. The provision does not apply to people who are barred from owning a firearm.Nor does the measure specify what type of firearm. Instead, residents would pick one “suitable to their temperament, physical capacity, and preference. The measure is known as an act “to provide for an individual mandate to adult citizens to provide for the self defense of themselves and others.”
Rep. Hal Wick, R-Sioux Falls, is sponsoring the bill and knows it will be killed. But he said he is introducing it to prove a point that the federal health care reform mandate passed last year is unconstitutional.
“Do I or the other cosponsors believe that the State of South Dakota can require citizens to buy firearms? Of course not. But at the same time, we do not believe the federal government can order every citizen to buy health insurance,” he said.
Can’t wait to hear this one argued before the Supreme Court. Or even the People’s Court.

Ooh, la friggin’ la. Nicolas Sarkozy is a stud. Not only is his wife the world’s hottest presidential first lady, but he’s turned her from flaming liberal to conservative in three short years.
God bless you, Nicolas Sarkozy. God bless you.
The Telegraph UK has the transformational info:
Only two years ago Mrs Bruni-Sarkozy had claimed that she was “instinctively left-wing” after at one stage supporting her husband’s Socialist rival in the 2007 presidential elections. She had also publicly opposed Mr Sarkozy’s plan to conduct DNA tests on immigrants.
In 2008, she told the Libération newspaper: “Nobody has to be joined at the hip in politics or with one’s husband”. A year earlier she told a British newspaper: “I would never vote on the Right.”
But in Monday’s interview with Le Parisien newspaper, she said her previous political persuasion was only due to her belonging to a “community of artists.” “We were bobo (bourgeois bohemians), we were left-wing but at that time I voted in Italy (her native country).” I have never voted for the Left in France and I can tell you, I’m not about to start now. I don’t really feel left-wing anymore,” she said.

You’ve probably seen the news that 733 companies or unions and 2,189,636 workers have been exempted from ObamaCare. We wondered how one gets one of those coveted exemptions.
The Sieben Polk law firm got an ObamaCare exemption. And we're positive that it had absolutely nothing to do with Michael Sieben's $20,000 Obama Victory Fund contribution
Well, this story from EconomicCollapse.net clears it all up:
… So, how does one obtain an exemption to Obamacare? Is it all based upon the stated criteria, or are there other factors left unwritten? A cynic might conclude there could be some political favors being handed out, when you see the number of unions in the list.
If you browse through the list, you’ll find the names quite interesting. On one hand, there are huge groups like the 19,000 workers belonging to the “Communications Workers of America, Local 1180 Security Benefits Fund.” But on the other hand, there are some small companies like the Sieben Polk Law, a firm of personal injury lawyers in Minnesota …
Not that I would suspect anything out of the ordinary, but I thought I’d look more closely at Sieben Polk, just for the heck of it, since it seems like such a small company to be on this list. Just the curious blogger that I am, looking through public information.
In my searching of the web, one of the first things Google showed me was a political contributions page for partner Michael Sieben. I pulled it up, and golly, It showed that he donated over $20,000 to the Obama Victory Fund.
But I don’t know why I really even bothered to mention this insignificant, and I’m certain, unrelated tidbit. I’m sure the Sieben Polk Law firm has a good reason to have an approved exemption from the landmark healthcare program passed into law by the president to whose 2008 campaign fund partner Michael Sieben donated $20,000.

UK leaders have decided that what its school children really need is a celebration of the gay community in math, geography and science courses.
Things haven’t gone so well in the United Kingdom for the last hundred years or so. So the nation’s leaders have decided that what its school children really need is a celebration of the gay community in math, geography and science courses.
Yes. Gay math. Gay geography. And gay science.
The Village People teach gay spelling: "Y-M-C-A"
The Telegraph UK has the bizarre details:
The initiative will be officially launched next month at the start of “LGBT History Month” — an initiative to encourage teaching about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual issues.
The lesson plans, spread across the curriculum, will be offered to all schools, which can choose whether or not to make use of them.
But critics last night called the initiative a poor use of public money which could distract from the teaching of “core” subjects.
Among the suggestions are:
Maths — teaching statistics through census findings about the number of homosexuals in the population, and using gay characters in scenarios for maths problems;
Can’t wait to hear how they explain that gays can’t multiply.
Design and technology — encouraging pupils to make symbols linked to the gay rights movement;
Like a giant limp wrist unfurling a rainbow flag. But be careful when spelling flag, kiddos.
Science – studying animal species where the male takes a leading role in raising young, such as emperor penguins and sea horses, and staging class discussions on different family structures, including same-sex parents;
And unicorns. Don’t forget the unicorns. They’re, like, the gayest animals ever.
Geography — examining the transformation of San Francisco’s Castro district in the 1960s from a working-class Irish area to the world’s first “gay neighbourhood”, and considering why homosexuals move from the countryside to cities;
While you’re at it, examine what an Indian was doing in the Village People.
Languages — using gay characters in role play scenarios, and teaching “LGBT vocabulary”
Role-playing gays. Now how could this go awry?
While this is definitely an outstanding addition to school curriculum, we can’t wait to see what happens when the United Kingdom’s celebration of the gay community in math, geography and science runs headlong into the United Kingdom’s celebration of the Muslim community in math, geography and science courses.

We are not religious here at IHateTheMedia.com. Not at all. But we had to say a little prayer for our nation after watching this clip of Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius explaining why ObamaCare is constitutional.
Sebelius: Well, I think that the…I…let me begin by saying I’m not a lawyer. And I’m leaving those arguments to our legal team from the department of justice. But I think there are certainly lots of talented Constitutional lawyers who feel that the Commerce Clause very much is broad enough to cover the interstate commerce of healthcare and that we have a unique product because people access services of healthcare whether or not they have insurance. What they’re choosing not to do is actually pay for those services. So it isn’t like if I don’t have a 27-inch TV for the Super Bowl I can’t demand that they have the Super Bowl that somebody deliver that TV because I have a right to it. On the other hand, if I don’t have insurance and I come to the door of an emergency room I get treated and get cared for and somebody else picks up that tab. And I think it’s that framework for a layperson that the two judges who have ruled who find that this law is constitutional found to be well within scope of the commerce clause.
“Dear Lord, save us from these lunatics who pass laws no one wants and who babble incoherently when they attempt to explain those laws and who have hands that wave around in a manner that seems completely unrelated to anything they’re saying. Amen. Let’s eat.”
He’s only been in office for two weeks, but Jerry Brown is already making people long for the good ol’ days when Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor.
He’s only been in office for two weeks, but Jerry Brown is already making people long for the good ol’ days when Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor. His State of the State speech on Monday night must have been the most disjointed, poorly-delivered political speech in history. And we’d say that even if he hadn’t used the situation in Egypt to push another tax increase.
Jerry Brown makes a point. We're just not sure what it was.
Let’s just let the Los Angeles Times take if from here:
Citing the pro-democracy unrest in Egypt and Tunisia, Gov. Jerry Brown called it “unconscionable” that GOP legislators are vowing to block his attempt to ask voters to extend tax hikes to balance the budget.
“When democratic ideals and calls for the right to vote are stirring the imagination of young people in Egypt and Tunisia and other parts of the world, we in California can’t say now is the time to block a vote of the people,” Brown said in his first State of the State address in nearly 30 years.
He said the budget has tough choices but that the people “have a right to vote” on the package.
Let’s see. Mubarak’s been in power for 30 years and Egypt is a corrupt state on the verge of collapse. California’s Democrats have run the state legislature for 30 years and California is a corrupt state on the verge of collapse.
On second thought, maybe the comparison isn’t so outlandish.
Nicholas Duffy of Sandy, Utah was first arrested, then, while he was being transported to jail, the criminal genius saw his chance to escape.
20-year old Nicholas Duffy of Sandy, Utah had a bad day last week.
First he was arrested, because that’s the sort of thing police tend to do when they discover you have outstanding warrants. Then, while he was being transported to jail, he told the officers that he wasn’t feeling well. When the officer kindly rolled down the back window so Duffy could get a little fresh air, the criminal genius saw his chance to escape.
He wiggled out the window. Of course, since he was handcuffed and the police car was speeding down he freeway at the time of his escape, Duffy’s landing didn’t go quite as smoothly as he had hoped for. He was injured and immediately arrested again.
And it’s all on video.
NOTE: In Duffy’s defense, the Editor has been to Sandy, Utah and escape was also the only thing on his mind during his entire visit.
