Once a lunatic lib, always a lunatic lib: Joan Baez injured falling out of her treehouse

We didn’t even know Joan Baez was still alive – always figured she was as dead as her career. Remarkably, though, Joan Baez is still alive, but considerably less than well after channeling her inner Julia “Butterfly” Hill and falling out of tree.

Joan Baez, this week's Wacky Liberal of the Week

What’s that? You don’t remember Julia “Butterfly” Hill, either. Well, please allow us to jog your memory. She was the liberal lunatic who spent two years living in an old growth California redwood in an attempt to keep loggers from cutting it down. She named the tree Luna.

But we digress. The San Jose Mercury News has the Baez story:

1960s songbird Joan Baez had a treehouse built — without walls — 20 feet high in an oak tree behind her Woodside home because she wanted to sleep with birds.

The folksinging legend, who once performed the civil rights anthem “We Shall Overcome” before a half-million people at Woodstock, fell from that treehouse Wednesday as she climbed down from the platform.

Paramedics drove the singer to Stanford Hospital, where she was treated and released after it was determined she had suffered only minor injuries.

Baez, 69, was “resting comfortably” Thursday, according to Nancy Lutzow, who runs Baez’s Menlo Park production company.

“I sleep in a tree all summer long,” Baez told an English blogger in 2008. “I climb up on a ladder, with ropes and things. The birds are right there in the morning. Sometimes they’re flying so close to my head I can feel the wind.”

“Those things are heaven to me.”

To quote Baez’ friend Bob Dylan, the lunatic folksinger is damn lucky she isn’t “knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door.”

Why does Obama reserve his soul brother handshakes for South American socialists?

We’ve searched through thousands of photos of Obama shaking hands with world leaders and can only find two in which he does the bro’ shake — South American socialists.

On the way back from the President’s latest European excursion, CNN White House reporter Ed Henry tweeted that Obama “joked” that he might divert Air Force One to South America so he could visit his buddy Hugo Chavez.

obama-chavez-twitter

And that brings up something we’ve been wondering about since we saw President Obama greet the outgoing President of Brazil at last week’s G-20 meetings:

soul-brother-handshake Why does President Obama reserve his special soul brother handshakes only for South American socialists?

We’ve searched through thousands of photos of Obama shaking hands with world leaders and can only find two in which he does the bro’ shake.

The first was with  Venezuela strongman Hugo Chavez at Obama’s first U.N. conference back in 2009.

The second was with Brazil’s outgoing communist President Luis Inacio Lula de Silva at the previously-mentioned G-20 meeting in Seoul.

Scores of other world leaders, apparently not hip enough to exchange bro’ shakes with Obama or, perhaps, just not politically-attuned enough, just received the regular, boring kind of handshakes heads of state normally exchange.

Pity the Pope. He is not worthy of a soul brother handshake.

We can’t find any photos of President Obama shaking hands with Raul Castro, Evo Morales or Daniel Ortega, but if and when he does we assume they’ll receive the same show of unity and brotherhood that their South American socialist brothers received.

Joe Biden Update #2: “Daddy is going to take off the training wheels.”

The always-loquacious vice president had a colorful message for the Afghans regarding the timeline for transferring security by 2014, a plan that will be outlined here at the NATO summit in Lisbon.

If it weren’t for the right wing blogosphere and, maybe, ABC’s Jake Tapper, the media would have given Joe Biden a free pass on his stupidity for the last two years.

Joe "Big Daddy" Biden talks tough

Tapper explains the Veep’s latest loopiness:

Last night Vice President Biden sat down for an interview with Larry King – his 49th appearance on the CNN host’s program.

The always-loquacious vice president had a colorful message for the Afghans regarding the timeline for transferring security by 2014, a plan that will be outlined here at the NATO summit in Lisbon.

“Daddy is going to start to take the training wheels off in October — I mean in next July, so you’d better practice riding,” he said.

July. October. Daddy. Uncle Joe. Uncle Sam. Win. Lose. It’s all sort of the same inside the head of Joe Biden.

Can you imagine if, say, Sarah Palin had uttered those same words? The liberal media would have said that “Daddy’s going to take off the training wheels” was the mother of all stupid statements.

But with Biden, a good liberal, what you’re hearing right now is the sound of silence. All crickets, no critics.

Joe Biden Update #1: In which the vice president explains that Obama isn’t aloof, he’s an intellectual

"Oh, yeah, this Obama guy, his brain is a big f'ing deal."

The Vice President did an interview with GQ and didn’t disappoint:

For instance, reporter Lisa DePaulo pressed Biden repeatedly on why President Obama isn’t connecting with the American public and is instead viewed as professorial and aloof. “So what is it?” asked DePaulo.

“I think what it is, is he’s so brilliant. He is an intellectual,” Biden said.

Being called an intellectual by Joe Biden is the very definition of being damned with faint praise.

NBC demonstrates why network news is dying a slow, painful death

brian-williams-nbc
"Camelot" is what passes for news on the NBC Nightly "News"

Camelot still exists in the minds of the Washington-New York-Hollywood axis and they will attempt to reinforce it every damn chance they get, whether it’s calling Barack Obama the last Kennedy brother or finding a new way to mark the anniversary of JFK’s assassination.

For example, here’s Brian Williams on last night’s NBC Nightly “News”:

For more than one American generation, November 22nd will always be the day President Kennedy was shot. A new book just out is full of the imagery of those years. It’s called “Portrait of Camelot,” full of rarely seen family photos by the White House photographer back then, Cecil Stoughton.

They include JFK’s Christmas Eve in Palm Beach, making sure the stockings were hung by the chimney with care. The incredibly cute John Jr. on a boat in August of ‘63. Jacqueline Kennedy on a boat off Cape Cod while Caroline naps on a summer day.

Video released along with the book includes a First Family dip in the fountain, the backyard of the White House on the South Lawn. And for the First Family, of course, it all came to an end on this day, 1963, in Dallas, Texas.

In the misty world of liberal memories, JFK wasn’t a womanizer. Teddy Kennedy wasn’t a drunk. Joe Kennedy wasn’t a Nazi-sympathizing rum runner. The family’s men had no warts and its women were perfectly-coifed paragons of virtue.

Don’t you just know that we’re going to have to live with this same sort of nonsense for the next 50 years after Obama leaves office.

Once again, a rhetorical question.

A case of mistaken identity

Covered from head to toe in a burqa, with just a slit through which to see, a Muslim woman charged with making a false complaint to police now argues she has been a victim of mistaken identity.

burka-mistaken-identity

If this were a Perry Mason novel, Erle Stanley Gardner would have called it The Case of the Baffling Burka.

The Sydney Daily Telegraph uncovers the story:

Covered from head to toe in a burqa, with just a slit through which to see, a Muslim woman charged with making a false complaint to police now argues she has been a victim of mistaken identity.

Carnita Matthews was stopped by an Australian policeman, who attempted to give her a random Breathalyzer test. She accused him of racism and said he attempted to forcibly remove her veil. Unfortunately for Carnita, the judge didn’t believe a word she said, found her guilty of making a false accusation and sentenced her to six months in jail.

In case you’re wondering, that’s Carnita on the left. Or maybe that’s her on the right. Hmmm. We’re really not sure.

Back door reparations: Democrats want to pay black farmers who may be neither black nor farmers

You had to be a black farmer to qualify to get paid the federal government. There were only 18,000 black farmers. 92,000 “black farmers” signed up to get their share of the government gold.

Think of Pigford v. Glickman as back door reparations and you’ll know damn near everything you need to know about the case.

Except for these fascinating facts: You had to be a black farmer to qualify to get paid the federal government. There were only 18,000 black farmers. 92,000 “black farmers” signed up to get their share of the government gold. Congress approved it, but now they want to pay out even more. It’s like the lottery on a much grander scale.

Wikipedia explains it this way:

Pigford v. Glickman was a class action lawsuit against the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), alleging racial discrimination in its allocation of farm loans and assistance between 1983 and 1997. The lawsuit ended with a settlement in which the U.S. government agreed to pay African American farmers $50,000 each if they had attempted to get USDA help but failed. To date, almost $1 billion has been paid or credited to the farmers under the settlement’s consent decree.

Turns out $1 billion isn’t enough for the income redistributing socialists in Congress. No, not nearly enough. Democrats think it would be a really good idea to ante up another $1.2 billion to pay off all those black farmers who aren’t black or aren’t farmers or aren’t both.

Ain’t socialism great?

The Encounter

“Just relax.” Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my calves slowly but steadily…

He grasped me firmly but gently just above my elbow and guided me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were alone.

He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low, reassuring voice close to my ear.

The Encounter, a tale of two strangers doing what strangers do in romance novels, coming soon to bookstores near you

“Just relax.”

Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my calves slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn’t care. His touch was so experienced, so sure.

When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his knowing fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage. And then, as he cupped my firm, full breasts in his hands, I inhaled sharply. Probing, searching, knowing what he wanted, he brought his hands to my shoulders, slid them down my tingling spine and into my panties.

Although I knew nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and expectant. This is a man, I thought. A man used to taking charge. A man not used to taking ‘no’ for an answer. A man who would tell me what he wanted. A man who would look into my soul and say …

“Okay, ma’am,” said a voice. “All done.”

My eyes snapped open and he was standing in front of me, smiling, holding out my purse. “You can board your flight now.”

As he guided me out of the room and into the terminal, he said, “You might want to consider the full-body scann next time. It’s much quicker.”

I smiled inwardly as I walked down the aisle. Not bloody likely, I thought, not bloody likely.

Is it just us or do all these descriptions of enhanced pat downs sound like they come from a novel with Fabio on the cover?

The guys on Yemen’s men’s volleyball team have come up with a novel excuse for their recent loss at a tournament in China.

china-cheerleaders-yemen-volleyball

The Telegraph UK has the scantily-clad details:

Organisers of the games in China have hired four cheerleader squads, each made up of eight girls, to entertain fans during breaks in the volleyball action, according to the Tianfu Morning News.

But Yemen beach volleyballer Adeeb Mahfoudh has now accused the squads of being distracting, and partly to blame for their defeat to Indonesia.

“They had an effect on how we played,” he said. “I think they had something to do with our losing the match.

Besides cheering, the girls also perform routines that include traditional Chinese elements including martial arts and fan dancing.

“These girls are very beautiful. With them here, more people will pay attention to beach volleyball,” Mr Mahfoudh added.

“If I can, I hope to watch them perform at the next match.”

This is a huge advance in international relations. As far as we can recall, it’s the first time any Arab loss wasn’t blamed on the Jews or George Bush.

Tom Bergeron is not happy with the Bristol Palin conspiracy theorists

Let’s talk about this season of Dancing with the Stars. Can you gauge audience reaction during the taping? Is there noticeable commotion when Bristol Palin gets the lowest scores but isn’t eliminated? Or when—

Here’s the thing. Let’s address the Bristol thing. That’s the thing I get the biggest kick out of on the show. I’m going to put on my political hat. I’m a liberal Democrat, and I state that proudly. But I have no patience with my friends who believe there is a conspiracy keeping Bristol on the show. They’ll say, and they’re friends of a similar political persuasion though I have friends across the spectrum, “Oh, well! She’s still on the show! She’s obviously not the best dancer! She gets the lowest scores!” My response to that is similar to my response to the midterm elections. I’ll say, “OK, right. So who did you vote for instead of Bristol?” “Uh, well, I don’t vote!” “Well, then, f*ck you.” I mean, basically! You can clean that up. I have no patience for that! If you don’t participate to create a different outcome — and this can be true in national politics or a TV reality show — then don’t piss and moan if you don’t like the way it’s playing out. You know, I’m sorry! I think Bristol is clearly not the best dancer here, but she’s a charming young woman who’s shown an incredible growth from week one to this week. If she happens to get more votes for whatever reason, more power to her. If you don’t like it, vote for someone else. But that’s been the part of the show that’s amused me, how quickly people are to seize on conspiracy theories when people aren’t involved in the process.

Don’t you hate these mealy-mouthed, namby pamby TV show hosts who won’t express an opinion?

Good lord. We just realized this is Gloria Allred. Please poke out our eyes with an ice pick and put an armed guard on our penises.

We sincerely hope none of you are desperate enough to even consider offering Gloria what she seems to be looking for in this video. C’mon, at this point even Gloria’s adult daughter is too old and too ugly to be worthy of cougarhood.

According to our friends over at iOwnTheWorld.com, lovely Fresno, California hosted the second annual California Cougar Convention last Saturday.

We just checked with Travelocity.com and it looks like there are about 20 flights a day between Los Angeles and Fresno. We don’t know for sure if Gloria attended the convention, but considering how much she seems to enjoy the TSA’s enhanced pat down, she may have flown up just to get felt up.

Time attacks itself over glowing review of bad novel. Correction: bad, disgusting novel.

There seems to be a bit of a culture war going on at Time magazine. First it praised a novelist and his novel, a work containing what has to be one of the most disgusting sexual passages ever written in a work of “literature.” Then its online Newsfeed service mocked that praise.

There seems to be a bit of a culture war going on at Time magazine. First it praised a novelist and his novel, a work containing what has to be one of the most disgusting sexual passages ever written in a work of “literature.” Then its online Newsfeed service mocked that praise.

freedom-franzen
American novelist, yes. Great is questionable.

Here’s how the magazine reviewed Jonathan Franzen’s novel Freedom on August 12, 2010:

Franzen isn’t the richest or most famous living American novelist, but you could argue — I would argue — that he is the most ambitious and also one of the best. His third book, The Corrections, published in 2001, was the literary phenomenon of the decade. His fourth novel, Freedom, will arrive at the end of August. Like The Corrections, it’s the story of an American family, told with extraordinary power and richness.

Hey, based on that review you might assume that Freedom is one hell of a novel. Yet there seems to be disagreement about that even within the Time family. On Friday, its online Newsfeed website said:

Jonathan Franzen has been lavished with praise — and if TIME says he’s good, he must be — so NewsFeed was ever so slightly disappointed to learn that he’s been nominated for the tongue-in-cheek prize, dished out by the Literary Review for — ahem — the most embarrassing passage of sexual description in a novel.

Our only dispute with Literary Review is that they deem the passage merely “embarrassing.” No. Accidentally leaving your fly open in public is embarrassing. Intentionally writing, in fact, taking nine years to carefully craft every word of this novel is not embarrassing, it’s an indictment of the author and any magazine that praises it.

Newsfeed notes that “Freedom, which is ostensibly about the breakdown of an American family, was singled out by judges for a depiction of a ‘phone sex’ encounter.”

CONTENT ALERT: The following passage from Freedom is graphic, disgusting and, considering that it took nine years to write, pretty poorly written. We are taking the liberty of italicizing and dyslexia-izing several words not because we want to censor it, but because we don’t want Google’s algorithyms to tag us as a porn site.

OK. Ready? Here’s the offending passage with key words italicized and dyslexia-ized.

One afternoon, as Connie described it, her excited lcitoirs grew to be eight inches long, a protruding pencil of tenderness with which she gently parted the lips of his pneis and drove herself down to the base of its shaft. Another day, at her urging, Joey described to her the sleek warm neatness of her utrds as they slid from her anus and fell into his open mouth, where, since these were only words, they tasted like excellent dark chocolate.

Literary Review said that Franzen exhibits a “propensity for innuendo which comes over a bit Benny Hill.” We say that is an insult to Benny Hill.

The tongue-in-cheek (perhaps a poor choice of words in this case) prize is awarded to ”draw attention to the crude, tasteless, often perfunctory use of redundant passages of sexual description in the modern novel, and to discourage it.”

Is it a sign that we’re making progress in the culture war when the online edition of Time attacks the print edition of Time for praising this author and this novel? Or is the very existence of this novel a sign that we’re losing ground?

Remember those troops Obama sent to the Mexican border? It was all bullshit.

The Obama Administration plans to withdraw National Guard troops from the Texas, New Mexico and California borders by the end February under a new Southwest security plan, even as turmoil in Mexican border cities grows.

As if he hasn’t violated enough laws, President Obama is now violating Newton’s Third Law of Motion. That’s the one that says “to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

In February of this year the President announced that he was sending troops to the Mexican border.

mexican-border
"Do you see any troops, Estacio? I don't see any troops."

That action was accompanied by lots of hoopla in the media, but in a completely unequal reaction, the withdrawal of those troops has now been quietly announced in a letter to a Texas congressman.

The Washington Examiner has the details:

The Obama Administration plans to withdraw National Guard troops from the Texas, New Mexico and California borders by the end February under a new Southwest security plan, even as turmoil in Mexican border cities grows, according to documents obtained by The Washington Examiner.

A letter sent to various members of the Texas Congressional delegation from Texas’ Gov. Rick Perry’s office says, “In February, 2011, the Texas, New Mexico, and California National Guard forces that were deployed to the border in September, 2010, under President’s Obama’s Southwest Border Augmentation Plan, will have 30 days to complete a total draw down of forces.”

The roughly 550 troops will have the month of February to redeploy back to their units, Texas Congressman Ted Poe told The Examiner. Troops would not be pulled off the Arizona border under the plan, and about 100 of the troops would re-deploy there from other states, officials said.

Poe received the letter today. His office confirmed with Department of Homeland Security officials that the plan came from the administration.

“I’m surprised the president would so quickly remove troops from Texas. They’re not supposed to leave until July,” said Poe.

Fact is, Obama withdrew those troops faster than the French front lines fleeing a battle.

Congressman Poe shouldn’t have been surprised. It doesn’t matter where the President sends troops – the Mexican border or Iraq or Afghanistan – he seems to be incapable of doing it without simultaneously announcing a date that they will be pulled out.

He just wishes he could surrender in Afghanistan as quickly as he surrendered on the Mexican border.

More genius from Jesse Jackson: Let’s draft the rich and send them to war

Jesse Jackson said, “and until the rich have serve with the poor in the military, that’s why I’m for the draft, because I think we must share the burden of war.”

Jesse Jackson must realize that his race war schtick is getting pretty old, because he seems to have added class warfare to his repertoire.

Jesse Jackson prepares to apply the Vulcan mind meld to gullible white Americans

“Our 21-year-old children join the military to avoid unemployment,” Jackson said, “and until the rich have serve with the poor in the military, that’s why I’m for the draft, because I think we must share the burden of war. So long as only the poor go to war it’s academic, but when Harvard and Yale has to go to war they figure out a way to end it.”

Only the poor go to war? Liberals just can’t make the argument that the rich don’t serve and also define the rich as family income over $75,000.

And don’t look now, Jesse, but John McCain’s son is in the military. So was Sarah Palin’s. Pat Tillman left the NFL, enlisted and got killed in Afghanistan. And they all qualify as rich by liberal standards.

Oh, wait. We don’t have a draft, do we? All those damn rich kids enlisted.

Never mind.

To paraphrase the immortal words of Jeff Spicoli, “You johnson!”

Peter Johnson appeared on Hannity to debate Ann Coulter on airport security and played the role of the typical liberal – rude, condescending and filibustering.

Liberal women hate conservative women because, well, because liberal women typically look like liberal women.

And liberal men hate conservative women because they could never get a date with them in high school. Or college. Or life in general.

Take Peter Johnson, for example. He appeared on Hannity on Wednesday to debate Ann Coulter on airport security and played the role of the typical liberal – rude, condescending and filibustering. For his part, Hannity played the enabler, allowing Johnson to control the segment, running roughshod over Coulter every time she tried to make her point.

Words are unnecessary – it’s evident in his smug smirk – but if there were words they would be, “You think you’re pretty? Take that, mean girl!”

At the 4:30 mark Johnson asks Coulter a question, then spends the next two minutes cutting her off and laughing about his rudeness like the typical effeminate little liberal weasel that he is.

As this clip makes clear, Johnson is a johnson. A tiny, flaccid johnson.

Follow the money. All the way through Africa and into some U.N. executives’ pockets.

How much clearer could it be? Global warming isn’t about saving the planet, it’s about redistributing the wealth. But the real question is who does it get redistributed to and who gets to do the redistribution?

The Global Warming Policy Foundation dug up an interview in Neue Zürcher Zeitung with German economist and IPCC official Dr. Ottmar Edenhofer.

As they said back at IPCC headquarters, “Ach, du Scheiße! Can’t Edenhofer keep his big mouth shut?”

ottmar-edenhofer
"Ja wohl," Dr. Edenhofer said, "Each IPCC official is expected to get a stack of cash this big."

The climate summit in Cancun at the end of the month is not a climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War … one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy.

How much clearer could it be? Global warming isn’t about saving the planet, it’s about redistributing the wealth. But the real question is who does it get redistributed to and who gets to do the redistribution? Luckily, Edenhofer continued shooting off his big mouth:

If global emission rights are distributed … then Africa will be the big winner, and huge amounts of money will flow there. This will have enormous implications for development policy. And it will raise the question if these countries can deal responsibly with so much money at all.

So the way we understand this, the rich countries must give up their wealth, yet the poor countries are incapable of dealing with the influx of all that wealth.

Oh, life on planet Earth would be perfect if only there were some international organization that could be in charge of it all.

And if only there were a few munificent executives within that organization who were willing to take on that assignment for the honor of skimming a little off the top.

Who's kidding who? If there are no gays in the North Korean army, why do they look so much like the Rockettes?

CNS News has the details:

Boxer likened the U.S.A. to the Communist regime in North Korea, the Islamic regime in Iran and the Pakistani government at a press conference in which she called for repealing the ban on homosexuals in the military during the lameduck session of Congress, which is taking place now before the new members elected on Nov. 2 can arrive in Washington, D.C. and replace the members who are retiring or who were defeated.

“We now stand with this rule with countries like Iran, North Korea and Pakistan in banning gays and lesbians from military service,” said Boxer. “Our brave young men and women fight alongside allies like Australia, the United Kingdom and others who allow gays and lesbians to serve openly. Let’s not stand with Pakistan and with North Korea and Iran.”

Barbara, honey, you seem to forget that being gay is a crime punishable by death in Iran and Pakistan. And just being a citizen of North Korea seems to be a crime punishable by death.

We have a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy. They have a “Don’t Ask, Don’t Breathe” policy.

In addition to focusing on some of the major challenges facing the President today, part of the conversation will be a discussion of how the whole family reacted to the President’s political reversal. This interview will be Mrs. Obama’s first since the mid-term elections.

The special marks the second time the President and First Lady have sat for a joint interview with Ms. Walters; the first was November of 2008, immediately following the presidential election. The interview will be conducted in the White House on Tuesday, November 23rd.

Our heartiest congratulations to President Obama. It looks like he’s finally found a way to stimulate the economy. If seeing him being interviewed on TV yet again isn’t enough to drive people out of the house and into the stores on Black Friday, nothing will.

Seriously, Barbara, what could you possibly ask this guy that hasn’t been asked and answered in a thousand other TV interviews?

We’d suggest you go with the “If you were a tree what kind of tree would you be?” question.

Let’s put an end to all those “Bloomberg to join Obama administration” rumors

Rumors have been flying around Washington, DC about New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s interest in joining the Obama administration. And vice versa.

Rumors have been flying around Washington, DC about New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s interest in joining the Obama administration. And vice versa.

Obama has been looking for an official administration midget ever since Rahm Emanuel left the White House

“RINO Bloomberg to become Secretary of the Treasury” is the one most often heard. And former Senator Bob Kerrey even floated the idea that Obama should be the “idea guy” and Bloomberg should be, in effect, the nation’s COO.

Well, this ABC News report should put an end to those stories:

… during President Obama’s vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, on August 27 he took in a round of golf at the Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown, playing golf with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg; Democratic lawyer, business man and éminence grise Vernon Jordan; and White House trip director (and former golf pro) Marvin Nicholson.

The pool report at the time said that “We are told Bloomberg and Obama talked in the clubhouse for about 15 mins about the economy. They then went to the driving range.”

Apparently – at least from a second-hand report – the Obama-Bloomberg convo could have gone better.

In an interview with The Australian Financial Review, conservative media magnate Rupert Murdoch says ”Bloomberg said it was a pleasant day. In conversation he put a few ideas … He said it was like verbal ping pong.”
Bloomberg, according to Murdoch, “came back and said ‘I never met in my life such an arrogant man’.”

A spokesman for Bloomberg did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Of course, the left will say the evil Rupert Murdoch made up the quote to damage Obama. The right will say every word of it is true. And Bloomberg will say whatever will advance his political career.

And we say Bloomberg and Obama deserve each other.

Ron Paul: If enhanced pat downs are good enough for the American people, they’re good enough for Congress

Ron Paul has had his best idea ever – the American Traveler Dignity Act: get rid of X-ray screenings and enhanced pat downs for airline travelers by forcing congress to experience the same sort of humiliation when they travel.

Ron Paul has had his best idea ever – the American Traveler Dignity Act.

His simple theory is that the best way to get rid of X-ray screenings and enhanced pat downs for airline travelers is to force congress to experience the same sort of humiliation when they travel.

We like the concept, but let’s get serious. Paul’s bill will get passed about the same time Congress starts using the same medical and retirement plans they force on the rest of us.

Back up the moving truck: Low-tax states to gain seats, high-tax states to lose them

We’re not going to get crazy like James Carville and predict 40 years of Republican rule, but let’s just say that the trend is not the liberal’s friend.

The Washington Examiner details the relationship between democracy and demography:

Migration from high-tax states to states with lower taxes and less government spending will dramatically alter the composition of future Congresses, according to a study by Americans for Tax Reform

Eight states are projected to gain at least one congressional seat under reapportionment following the 2010 Census: Texas (four seats), Florida (two seats), Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, South Carolina, Utah and Washington (one seat each). Their average top state personal income tax rate: 2.8 percent.

By contrast, New York and Ohio are likely to lose two seats each, while Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania will be down one apiece. The average top state personal income tax rate in these loser states: 6.05 percent.

The state and local tax burden is nearly a third lower in states with growing populations, ATR found. As a result, per capita government spending is also lower: $4,008 for states gaining congressional seats, $5,117 for states losing them.

And that’s the problem. Per capita spending goes crazy when politicians lose there capitas.

Blame duck congress: It’s all the Republicans fault that Nancy Pelosi is so unpopular

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blamed Republican-funded attacks for her low approval ratings Wednesday, moments after Democrats re-elected her to head the party as minority leader in next year’s Congress.

It’s not just the lame duck Congress, it’s the blame duck Congress. Princess Pelosi blames the Republicans for the fact that she’s the most hated person in Washington.

Princess Pelosi is loathed by the little people (we mean voters, not midgets, although midget voters probably hate her ass, too)

TheDailyCaller.com has the former Speaker’s laughable lament:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blamed Republican-funded attacks for her low approval ratings Wednesday, moments after Democrats re-elected her to head the party as minority leader in next year’s Congress.

“How would your ratings be if $75 million were spent against you?” Pelosi said, after being asked about her low approval ratings.

An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll taken at the end of October found that only eight percent of independents have a favorable view of Pelosi and just 24 percent of the general population approves of her job as Speaker. In the waning days of the 111th Congress, 73 percent disprove Congress as a whole, according to the Real Clear Politics poll average.

When asked why she decided to run for another term in party leadership despite the low ratings, she replied, “Because I’m an effective leader. Because we got the job done on health care and Wall Street reform and consumer protections. The list goes on. Because they know that I’m the person that can attract the resources both intellectual and otherwise to take us to victory because I have done it before.”

To paraphrase the immortal words of Shirley Ellis:

“Nancy!
Nancy, Nancy bo Bancy Bonana fanna fo Fancy
Fee fy mo Mancy, Nancy!
The blame game!”
