Hell, no, we won’t go! Gitmo detainees sue to block transfer to Illinois?

it turns out that the detainees would rather stay in Guantanamo than be transferred to President Obama’s preferred prison in Illinois.

Gitmo detainees praying to Allah that they don't get transferred to Illinois

Remember Guantanamo? That hideous American Gulag hidden away in Cuba so we could torture prisoners using unimaginably cruel techniques far from the prying eyes of noble, crusading newsmen?

Now it turns out that the detainees would rather stay there than be transferred to President Obama’s preferred prison in Illinois.

Michael Isikoff reports in Newsweek:

But the final irony is that many of the detainees may not even want to be transferred to Thomson and could conceivably even raise their own legal roadblocks to allow them to stay at Gitmo.

Falkoff notes that many of his clients, while they clearly want to go home, are at least being held under Geneva Convention conditions in Guantánamo. At Thomson, he notes, the plans call for them to be thrown into the equivalent of a “supermax” security prison under near-lockdown conditions.

“As far as our clients are concerned, it’s probably preferable for them to remain at Guantánamo,” he says.

Waterboarding, apparently, is one thing, but going to Illinois is something else.

This song is number one with a bullet. A lot of bullets, in fact.

Steve Lee is an Australian gun lover. And “I Love Guns” is available at Australian gun stores and at his own online store.

The phrase “number one with a bullet” comes from Billboard Magazine’s practice of putting a bullet symbol next to songs that were zipping up the weekly record charts at a rapid rate.

We ran across this music video at the fabulous AceofSpades HQ site. It’s a country song, so we assumed Steve Lee, its singer, must be an American.

But wait. Why are Australian flags hanging on the wall in one scene? And why is the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. And why is he driving on the wrong side of the road?

Hey, we didn’t watch all those old Perry Mason shows without learning how to read a clue or two.

Turns out Steve Lee is an Australian gun lover. And “I Love Guns” is available at Australian gun stores and at his own online store.

“I Love Guns.” Think of it as an Ode to the Second Amendment.

Do you have one of the ten worst jobs in America?

CareerCast.com has done some research. Some very comprehensive research. And when they came out of the other end of the process, they had determined the ten worst jobs in America.

Dairy farmer is a bad job? C'mon, who wouldn't want to rub up against 1200-pound manure covered animals?

CareerCast.com has done some research. Some very comprehensive research. And when they came out of the other end of the process, they had determined the ten worst jobs in America.

This is all very scientific and based on five specific criteria – environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress. So without further delay, here are the ten worst jobs in America:

10. Mail Carrier
9. Meter Reader
8. Construction Worker (Laborer)
7. Taxi Driver
6. Garbage Collector
5. Welder
4. Dairy Farmer
3. Ironworker
2. Lumberjack
1. Roustabout

Hey, c’mon, there are some really bad jobs that didn’t show in the bottom ten that should have. Like the guy who cleans out porta-potties. Or the guy who gives Rosie O’Donnell her Brazilian wax. Or Democrat Senator from North Dakota. Or host of the Keith Olbermann Show.

Those are what you call bad jobs.

Dorgan decides not to get his ass kicked, Politico tells a different story

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Tuesday night that he would retire rather than run for reelection this year, a surprise move that imperils the Democrats’ 60-seat majority next year.

We won't miss Byron Dorgan, but we will miss his comb-over

Reality has left the building over at Politico.com. Here’s how they reported the announcement by North Dakota’s Byron Dorgan announcement that he was retiring from the senate:

Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.) announced Tuesday night that he would retire rather than run for reelection this year, a surprise move that imperils the Democrats’ 60-seat majority next year.

Dorgan wasn’t facing serious opposition in what would have been a campaign for his fourth term, but North Dakota’s popular Republican Gov. John Hoeven is considering a bid and was leading in early polls.

No serious opposition? To say that Hoeven is leading in the early polls is like saying the Indians had a slight lead on Custer. Here’s how Rasmussen reports that non-serious opposition:

Incumbent Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan may have a serious problem on his hands if Republicans recruit Governor John Hoeven to run for the U.S. Senate in North Dakota next year.

The first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 telephone survey of likely voters in North Dakota finds the popular Republican governor leading Dorgan by 22 points – 58% to 36%. Just six percent (6%) are undecided in that senatorial contest.

Other polls show Dorgan trailing by more than 30 points. How much more serious can the opposition get, Politico?

Ed Schultz to run for Dorgan’s seat? Alert the death squad, because we’re dying laughing

Here’s Ed Schultz pretending to be emotionally overwhelmed. Hilarious. Yet here he is on MSNBC with Alex Witt, revealing the fact that he’s been approached to run for Byron Dorgan’s senate seat.

Witt: We’re going back to Ed right now because you got a pretty important phone call, and what did they ask of you, the Democrat Party?
Schultz: Well, last night when Sen. Dorgan was talking to me, he asked me how old I was. And I went, “Uh-oh!”
Witt: This is not for a birthday card.
Schultz: Yeah, I did get a phone call this morning from Merle Boucher who is the House Democratic Leader and he asked me to consider to run for the United States Senate seat in the state of North Dakota. I asked him very point blank, “Is this an official ask?” He said, “Yes it is.”

Senator Edward (we assume he would begin going by the more formal name) Schultz. Funniest thing we ever heard. Except for when we heard that Al Franken was running for the senate. Anyone heard how that turned out?

By the way, has there ever been a senator with a stranger name than Byron Dorgan? It sounds like someone speaking nonsense Swedish.

OK, we’re done rambling now. We’ll stop.

Pilots association brings President Obama back down to earth

President Obama tried to look a little more presidential by playing a little fast and loose with the truth about the Christmas Bomber terrorist. And the Allied Pilots Association called him on it.

If you'd been flying on Christmas day, wouldn't you have wanted your pilot to know about the potential danger?

President Obama tried to look a little more presidential by playing a little fast and loose with the truth. And the Allied Pilots Association called him on it.

Here’s what the President said in his comments about the would-be Christmas airline bomber:

First, I directed that we take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the traveling public. We made sure that all flights still in the air were secure and could land safely. We immediately enhanced screening and security procedures for all flights, domestic and international. We added federal air marshals to flights entering and leaving the United States. And we’re working closely in this country, federal, state and local law enforcement, with our international partners.

Not so fast there, buckeroo. Turns out the Allied Pilots Association thinks the president is taking off on, shall we say, flights of fancy. They disputed his comments in an official statement:

The Allied Pilots Association, which represents American Airlines pilots, says most airborne flight crews weren’t notified of the Christmas Day terrorist attack on a Northwest Airlines A330. The group is calling for changes after what it describes as “communications failures” left the majority of airborne flight crews in the dark about the attempted bombing. In a message to members, the APA’s security committee said the Transportation Security Administration specifically told airlines to notify only the crews of airborne westbound trans-Atlantic flights of the attack on the Northwest flight on approach to Detroit. “The TSA should have mandated that information about this security event be passed on to all airborne flights,” says the message, which was passed to AVweb by a reader. The note says American complied with the directive but the APA says the airline should have told all of its in-flight crews of the incident “so that all of our captains would have been aware of the threat and could have made the proper adjustments to their in-flight security procedures.” The APA says it noted other communications failures in the chain of events.

The APA claims the initial notification of the incident came from the FAA and that the first direct contact between the airline and the TSA was about 12 hours after Umar Farouk Abdulmatallab allegedly injected an ignition substance into a package of PETN explosive sewn into his underwear. “Clearly, we have seen a large-scale communications breakdown concerning this terrorist event,” the note says. The APA says it has contacted the House Committee on Homeland Security with an eye toward making it policy that all airborne flight crews be notified immediately when there are serious security threats (Level 3 or Level 4). “It is essential in times like these that we act swiftly to ensure our crews are prepared to thwart any terrorist attack,” the association said.

Bottom line: The TSA only notified flights westbound for the United States, but no flights originating in the Unites States nor elsewhere.

In effect, it left hundreds of pilots flying blind. Because, apparently Janet Napolitano has already forgotten that homegrown terrorists like the Fort Hood shooter are out there.

Consider it more evidence that “the system worked.”

To paraphrase Mark Twain, “There are lies, damned lies and Nancy Pelosi.”

Rather than cite the Botox Queen of Congress for her recent lies and damn lies about transparency, it be fun to travel back in time to watch Nancy Pelosi hoist herself on her own petard.

Far be it from us to cast aspersions. Unless it’s about Michelle Obama’s fashion sense, that is.

Ouch. Japanese whalers 1, Greenpeace protesters 0

We really are torn on the Greenpeace vs. Japanese whaler issue. On one hand, there’s really seems to be no good reason to slaughter whales. On the other hand, Greenpeace opposes it, so we tend to root for the whalers.

This video shows the Greenpeace lunatics putting their boat, the S.S. Minnow Sea Shepherd, directly in the path of a large Japanese security ship. The Japanese need the security ships, by the way, to prevent harassment from the Greenpeace lunatics during whaling operations. The security ship “shoots” the protesters with high-pressure hoses to keep it at bay.

Naturally, the Greenpeacers now claim that they were “rammed.”

In a technical sense, it may be true since one ship did, in fact, hit the other one. But it ignores (a) the fact that the smaller boat put itself directly in the path of the larger ship, and (b) the fact that the 491-ton Shonan Maru 2 (maximum speed 12 knots) could outmaneuver Greenpeace’s nimble 13-ton, 45-knot trimaran.

Far as we’re concerned, the optimum outcome of these situations would be if the whales all got away, but the Greenpeace boats didn’t.

Anyone out there ever eat whale meat? Does it taste anything like chicken?

A little mood music, please. President Obama wants to seduce the terrorists.

Just days after catching flak for being too nonchalant, too bloodless, during his tardy response to the Christmas underpants bomber, the New York Times reports President Obama’s new, tougher approach to terrorism.

Please play this mood music while you read the following story.

Vladimir Putin threatens to cut off terrorists’ manly parts, but Barack Obama offers to change the mood music.

For god’s sake, man, this President of ours is not only America’s Second Black President, he may be America’s First Woman President.

Just days after catching flak for being too nonchalant, too bloodless, during his tardy response to the Christmas underpants bomber, the New York Times reports the President’s new, tougher approach to terrorism:

“And so perhaps the biggest change Obama has made is what one former adviser calls the “mood music” — choice of language, outreach to Muslims, rhetorical fidelity to the rule of law and a shift in tone from the all-or-nothing days of the Bush administration. He is committed to taking aggressive actions to disrupt terrorist cells, aides said, but he also considers his speech in Cairo to the Islamic world in June central to his efforts to combat terrorism. “If you asked him what are the most important things he’s done to fight terrorism in his first year, he would put Cairo in the top three,” Rahm Emanuel, his chief of staff told me.”

Note to President Obama: Play all the mood music you want for the terrorists. Break out your best bottle of wine and lower the lights while you’re at it. And give ‘em that winning smile of yours.

We prefer Putin’s approach.

Black students harassed for having white personalities

This is where we are during the post-racial presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. We’re no longer being judged by the color of our skin, but by the color of our personality.

We’re officially residing in the Twilight Zone. In a case that’s the first of its kind, black students have sued other black students for creating a racially-hostile environment at their school.

Two South Carolina students and members of their family have reached a $150,000 settlement in a harassment case.

Lawrence “Larry” Kobrovsky, attorney for the plaintiffs said, “You have a culture where to act like you want to do well in school is considered acting white. And that is part of why we’re saying that it was racial, even though the students were all of the same race because they weren’t acting how the others thought they should be acting as members of that race.”

Dolan Media told the rest of the story:

The uncle testified that racial separation in the county generally meant white students attended private schools while black students attended public schools.

At the public schools, he said, fitting in meant not being what his family was: “churchy,” “upright” and wanting education, as another witness put it, according to a trial transcript.

“You see, it’s a crime to act white, or it’s a crime to be white,” the uncle testified.

Harassment, he testified, made him feel that “we are just dumb, we’re just not people, we’re undergraded, we’re degraded, and we’re not even supposed to be in this world.”

This is where we are during the post-racial presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. Mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. We’re no longer being judged by the color of our skin, but by the color of our personality.

Not sure this is what Martin Luther King had in mind.

A 60-second Second Amendment tale of terror

So do you submit to fear? Or do you conquer it? This sixty second commercial gives you one person’s Second Amendment answer.

OK, imagine that this is being read aloud by that guy with the really deep voice who does all the coming attractions:

“I am fear. I am the menace that lurks in the path of life, never visible to the eye but sharply felt in the heart.
I am the father of despair, the brother of procrastination, the enemy of progress, the tool of tyranny. Born of ignorance and nursed on misguided thought, I have darkened more hopes, stifled more ambitions, shattered more ideals and prevented more accomplishments than history could record.
I assume many disguises. I masquerade as caution. I am sometimes known as doubt or worry. But whatever I am called, I am still fear, the obstacle of achievement. I have no power but what the human mind gives me, and I vanish completely when the light of understanding reveals the facts as they really are, for I am really nothing. You see, if you have the courage to acknowledge your fears, you will be taking the first step towards controlling them instead of them controlling you.”

So do you submit to fear? Or do you conquer it?

This sixty second commercial gives you one person’s answer.

C-SPAN tells Congress to put or shut up, televise ObamaCare negotiations

The clowns in congress love to see themselves on television. Except when it comes to ObamaCare. Now C-SPAN CEO Brian Lamb has told them to put up or shut up. In so many words. The clowns in congress love to see themselves on television. Except when it comes to ObamaCare. Now C-SPAN CEO Brian Lamb has told them to put up or shut up. In so many words.

He wrote to leaders in the House and Senate urging them to televise “all important negotiations, including any conference committee meetings.”

“The C-SPAN networks,” he added, “will commit the necessary resources to covering all of the sessions LIVE and in their entirety.”

Not gonna happen. Contrary to the President’s pledge of full transparency, it now appears that top Democrats in the House, Senate and White House will work out all the niggling little details behind closed doors before sending this bloated atrocity of a bill back for a final vote.

Hmmmmm. Candidate Obama’s words seem to conflict with President Obama’s actions. Here’s what he said on the campaign trail in a debate with Hillary:

“That’s what I will do in bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bringing all parties together, and broadcasting those negotiations on C-SPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are.”

In the words of Nancy Pelosi, “Lots of things are said on the campaign trail.”

Funniest global warming story of the day: Blizzard ruins global warming protest

There are days when we just don’t feel funny. It’s days like that when we thank Gaia for news items like this: A global warming protest scheduled in Salt Lake City has been cancelled because of a blizzard.

Oddly enough, this is global warming protester Clea Major's Facebook photo

There are days when we just don’t feel funny. It’s days like that when we thank Gaia for news items like this:

A global warming protest scheduled in Salt Lake City has been cancelled because of a blizzard.

The Salt Lake Tribune provides the frozen details:

“Not many people showed up because of the blizzard conditions,” said organizer Clea Major, an international studies student at the University of Utah.

It didn’t take long for the six friends to pack up a bullhorn and posters they’d planned to use for their “scream-in,” an outlet for their frustration about the failure of the Copenhagen climate talks earlier this month to curb the pollution blamed for climate change

Still, they chatted with a few passers-by during the commuter-hour protest near the Gateway, and explained that, blizzard aside, climate change is expected to bring chaos to the global climate, said Major.

She called Wednesday evening’s effort a success and possibly the first in a series. As for the snow, it’s not entirely new; a protest she attended last year in Washington, D.C., suffered a similar fate.

“There is always the irony element,” Major said.

Well, don’t feel too badly, Clea. We’re all at the mercy of the elements.

Congratulations, Keith Olbermann. You are officially the Stupidest Person of the Day

We have to admit, we never thought that anyone would come along who would make 9/11 truthers look rational. But we never figured Keith Olbermann into the equation..

Fortunately, Olbermannwatch.com was on the case. We all owe this dedicated group of masochists a debt of gratitude. They actually subject themselves to watching Olbermann’s show so you don’t have to.

As Olbermannwatch.com mockingly reports, “First Oralmann tells us the crotch bomber was no big deal, just a schlub who didn’t pose any real threat to anyone. But consistency is not considered a virtue on OlbyPlanet, so Krazy Keith goes on from there to suggest that our spy organizations deliberately buried the intel about the crotch bomber–knowing he could kill 300 people. Why? To embarrass the Obama administration! John Gibson has the details on the latest Krazy Keith Konspiracy … listen to the end as a genius caller takes it to the next level.”

Why stop there, Keith? Any theories on the lone gunman and the grassy knoll?

“Now, now, Abdullah, make sure you use perspective when you draw the infidel’s beheading.”

Former Guantanamo inmates are being “rehabilitated” through a combination of art therapy and intensive recreation at a Saudi facility.

Excellent, Abdullah. Now color in the red arcs and your Obama logo will be complete.

Perhaps this conversation is taking place right now as former Guantanamo inmates are being “rehabilitated” through a combination of art therapy and intensive recreation at a Saudi facility.

According to the New York Post, the program is a cross between a daycare and terrorist training camp.

“In between tasty picnic-style meals of rice and lamb and snacks of Snickers along with dips in the pool, participants practice Arabic calligraphy, produce dizzying Jackson Pollack rip-offs and imagine the aftermath of car bombings in crayon.”

The concept hasn’t been that successful. Well, maybe we just need to re-define what “successful” means.

Graduates of the program have certainly succeeded at reestablishing their terrorist careers. One graduate, Said Ali al Shihri — a former Guantanamo Bay detainee who now heads up al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The same group that tried to blow up an airliner on Christmas.

Maybe al Shihri will be the next commencement speaker.

America’s youth unemployment rate tops 50%. How’s that hope and change working for you, kids?

Are America’s youth suffering buyer’s remorse yet? They gave Obama their votes en masse and he’s given them unemployment en masse.

Based on America's 18-24 year old voters, there aren't many red states

Are America’s youth suffering buyer’s remorse yet? They gave Obama their votes en masse and he’s given those youth unemployment en masse.

New stats from the Bureau of Labor Statistics tell the grim tale:

“The unemployment rate for young Americans has exploded to 52.2 percent — a post-World War II high, according to the Labor Dept. — meaning millions of Americans are staring at the likelihood that their lifetime earning potential will be diminished and, combined with the predicted slow economic recovery, their transition into productive members of society could be put on hold for an extended period of time.”

“The number represents the flip-side to the Labor Dept.’s report that the employment rate of 16-to-24 year olds has eroded to 46.6 percent — the lowest ratio of working young Americans in that age group, including all but those in the military, since WWII.”

Not to worry, because The Greatest President In History has this all figured out.

He’ll give half of them college scholarships and pay the other half to enlist in the Obama Youth Brigade.

Problem solved. Let’s play golf.

Uh-oh. The Associated Press finally notices that President Obama is all talk, no action

Even reliably liberal media outlets are starting to notice that the Obama administration is all talk, no action.

Even reliably liberal media outlets are starting to notice that this administration is all talk, no action.

Take the Associated Press, for example, which is finally opening its eyes:

The Obama administration claim that “the system worked” after a failed aircraft bombing wasn’t quite as jolting as President George W. Bush’s “Brownie, you’re doing a heckuva job” when New Orleans was sinking under deadly Hurricane Katrina. But both raised disturbing questions about presidential response in a time of crisis…

Amid those questions, administration officials’ repeated statements Sunday that “the system worked” were jarring. They made it sound like the administration doesn’t get it, like it is paying too much attention to political fallout and too little to public fears…

For Obama, still short of one year in office, his narrative, critical or otherwise, isn’t set yet.

Nonetheless, rumblings keep resurfacing about emotional distance, even coldness. Whether it’s Wall Street bonuses or terrorist near-disaster, people wonder whether he feels as they do or ever acts out of passion.

Is it just us or is the AP saying they’d like President Obama to be more like President Bush? A little less talk, a lot more action?

Sing it, Elvis.

Is Michelle Obama the new Jackie Kennedy? A new book says yes, reality says no.

Given the raging success of Mrs O the website, which chronicles the fashion statements by the Most Glamorous First Lady In History, a book was a foregone conclusion.

Given the raging success of Mrs O the website, which chronicles the fashion statements by the Most Glamorous First Lady In History, a book was a foregone conclusion. And, of course, reviews of Mary Tomer’s Mrs O have been nothing less than stellar

Jackie Kennedy never wore an outfit that made her belly look like the Michelin Man's

“Tomer’s is at least the third fashion-related book on the first lady, and so far, it’s the most comprehensive, tracing Obama’s style from that frigid day in Springfield, Ill., when her husband announced his candidacy to the first lady’s springtime tour of Europe,” Politco.com noted.

“[Tomer] spoke with more than 40 designers for the book, which includes two-page interviews with such Obama favorites as Jason Wu, Loree Rodkin, Isabel Toledo and Peter Soronen. It’s also filled with fabric swatch close-ups, dress shots (both famous and less well known) and displays the thoroughness of a librarian in cataloging the origins of Obama’s many brooches, pins and patent-leather heels,” the Washington Post raved.

But here’s the only review you really need:

“Only on a planet where Barack Obama is considered a moderate, where a tax cheat is named Secretary of the Treasury, and where a pervert is put in charge of safe schools, could Michelle Obama be called ‘the new Jackie Kennedy,'” said IHateTheMedia.com.

And now to prove our point, let’s take a journey around le monde du faux pas de mode de Michelle Obama (for those of you who aren’t up to speed on your French fashion lingo, that means “the world of Michelle Obama’s fashion don’ts”).

The Grand Canyon. Hey, c’mon, we’re talking about the landscape.

Doing the job American TV doesn’t: Jihad TV explains what’s really going on in Yemen

What have you learned about Yemen, the new nexus of terrorism, on American TV? We assume your answer is “Nothing.” Enter JibJab.

What have you learned about Yemen, the new nexus of terrorism, on American TV? We assume your answer is “Nothing.”

As BigGovernment.com said, “What a sad comment on the state of US/Western media, that “Jihad TV” is a better source of information pertinent to this aspect of the world war we are engaged in.”

The embedded video is a fascinating look at terrorism from the point of view of the terrorists. BigGov continues:

The war in Yemen also reveals at least one massive hypocrisy on the Left. For all of their talk about the problem with America being that we do business with evil dictatorships around the world, Democrat controlled America sure does appear to be working side by side with the Saudis to fight on their behalf against a Sunni-Shia Jihad alliance/insurgency. Or, perhaps that’s why the President of the United States shouldn’t be seen bowing to the Saudi King. It makes it that much harder to argue that America isn’t doing the king’s bidding in Yemen.

In reality, we think this all mostly falls under “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” In this case, Sunni and Shia terrorists operate as friends (al-Qaeda) against their enemies in the Saudi Royal Family and America, while America operates as friends with Saudi royal family against the Sunni-Shia al-Qaeda factions.

And for all of those Lefties out there who insist that the Sunni and Shia can never work together because they hate each other so much, your theory appears to die with al-Qaeda in Yemen.

Let’s just hope that not too many other things have to die because of these lunatics.

FBI reports big decrease in murders, big increase in gun sales. Hey, how is that possible?

More guns, less crime? Looks like America’s Second Amendment enemies shot their mouths off one too many times. The basic tenet of their anti-gun religion has just been disproved by a new FBI crime report.

A new FBI report takes direct aim at the heart of gun control

More guns, less crime? Looks like America’s Second Amendment enemies shot their mouths off one too many times. The basic tenet of their anti-gun religion has just been disproved by a new FBI crime report.

The NRA gleefully reports the depressing details for dogmatic Democrats:

Last week, the FBI issued its preliminary 2009 crime report, showing that the number of murders in the first half of 2009 decreased 10 percent compared to the first half of 2008. If the trend holds for the remainder of 2009, it will be the single greatest one-year decrease in the number of murders since at least 1960, the earliest year for which national data are available through the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Also, the per capita murder rate for 2009 will be 51 percent lower than the all-time high recorded in 1991, and it will be the lowest rate since 1963—a 46-year low. Final figures for 2009 will be released by the FBI next year.

According to gun control supporter dogma—“more guns means more crime”—the number of privately owned firearms must have decreased 10 percent in 2009. To the contrary, however, the number rose between 1.5 and 2 percent, to an all-time high. For the better part of the last 15 months, firearms, ammunition, and “large” ammunition magazines have been sold in what appear to be record quantities. And, the firearms that were most commonly purchased in 2009 are those that gun control supporters most want to be banned—AR-15s, similar semi-automatic rifles, and handguns designed for defense. The National Shooting Sports Foundation already estimates record ammunition sales in 2009, dominated by .223 Remington, 7.62x39mm, 9mm and other calibers widely favored for defensive purposes.

Also indicative of the upward trend in firearm sales, the number of national instant check transactions rose 24.5 percent in the first six months of 2009 compared to the first six months in 2008, the greatest increase since NICS’ inception in 1998. Through the end of October, NICS transactions rose18 percent, compared to the same period in 2008.

Consider this evidence that gun control isn’t about guns, it’s about control.

Puttin’ the fear of God Putin into terrorists everywhere

Putin lets them know exactly what kind of reception awaits terrorists in Russia. And you have to admire that about him.

Despots normally don’t do much for us. So we’re not big fans of Russian Prime Minister and shadow Premier Vlad Putin.

But while our president kowtows to terrorists and pays for their defense attorneys, Putin lets them know exactly what kind of reception awaits them in Russia. And you have to admire that about him.

This is one seriously cold-hearted son of a bitch.

A French journalist challenged Putin’s approach to terrorism and the Russian’s told him what’s what.

Journalist: …Don’t you think that by trying to eradicate terrorism in Chechnya you are going to eradicate the civilian population of Chechnya?
Putin: If you want to become an Islamic fundamentalist and be circumcised, come to Moscow. We are multiconfessional. We have very good specialists. I can recommend one for the operation. He’ll make sure nothing grows back.

Is it just us or does the look in Putin’s eyes reminds you of Dirty Harry staring down at the bleeding bank robber on the street and saying, “You have to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?” Watch them both and see if you don’t agree.

Unfortunately, we know he’s giving our President and our Secretary of State the same steely-eyed glare and scaring the hell out of them.
