It’s not unusual for the media to lie about President Obama’s predecessor. What’s unusual is that Harry Smith’s lie was so outrageous that even President Obama felt compelled to correct it. In fact, Obama actually laughs at the absurdity of Harry Smith’s comments.
Gates’ reaction to reports that North Korea may launch a missile in the direction of Hawaii? “We’re obviously watching the situation in the north, with respect to missile launches, very closely,” Gates said.
No, not that west. The other west.
He’s not talking philosophically nor economically nor politically. He’s actually talking directionally.
Gates’ reaction to reports that North Korea may launch a missile in the direction of Hawaii?
“We’re obviously watching the situation in the north, with respect to missile launches, very closely,” Gates said. “And we do have some concerns, if they were to launch a missile to the west, in the direction of Hawaii.”
And when they’re done with that test, they may just fire one north toward South Korea.
UN Special Rapporteur La Rue found is in trouble at the Organization of the Islamic Conference because he he said, “Restrictions (on free speech) should never be used to protect particular institutions or abstract notions, concepts or beliefs, including religious ones.” Islam.
UN Special Rapporteur Frank LaRue doing whatever it is special rapporteurs do.
Frank La Rue is a UN Special Rapporteur on the right to free expression. (Only a bloated bureaucracy like the UN could come up with a title like “rapporteur.”)
Anyway, La Rue found himself in hot water last week at the Organization of the Islamic Conference. All because he had the nerve to say, “Restrictions (on free speech) should never be used to protect particular institutions or abstract notions, concepts or beliefs, including religious ones.”
He went on to say that “defamation of religions does not accord with international standards on freedom of expression.”
That’s when the couscous hit the fan. Angry Muslim representatives from Africa, the Gulf States, Pakistan, Algeria, Egypt, Malaysia, Sudan and Yemen want La Rue fired for…well…for supporting free speech.
Luckily, La Rue found support from the United States, the United Kingdom and several other nations who pointed out that the UN’s free speech rapporteur should feel free to speak freely.
In the words of MediaWatchWatch.org, “Allah forbid that an officer responsible for the protection of freedom of expression should be free to express his support for freedom of expression!”

According to a new poll conducted by the Jerusalem Post and Smith Research, 6% of Jewish Israelis still think President Barack Obama’s administration is pro-Israel.
Go figure.
Luckily, the poll has a margin of error of 4.5%, which means the actual percentage of Jewish Israelis who are stark, raving lunatics may be as low as 1.5%.
The poll was conducted among a random sample of 500 Israeli Jewish adults.
We did a poll of our Jewish Israeli friend. 100% of him believes President Obama has forgotten that there’s only one Western-oriented democracy in the Middle East.
Our poll was conducted from a representative sample of one Jewish Israeli adult. The margin of error was 0%.
George Bush’s establishment of a democracy in Iraq is inspiring democratic movements in other Muslim nations like Iran. Sign in Iran: “Do not forget what happened to Saddam Hussein”
That poor, deluded George Bush. He actually thought the establishment of a democracy in Iraq would inspire democratic movements in other Muslim nations.
But Bush was apparently wrong. Barack Obama credits his own Cairo speech for inspiring the Lebanese voters’ to reject Hezbollah. And he’s probably equally confident that this new Iranian protest sign was inspired when he said spoke those powerful words, “It’s not productive given the history of U.S.-Iranian relations to be seen as meddling.”
Perhaps the following slogan would serve as a warning to Barack Obama:
South Carolina Governor Sanford disappeared for a few days. What’s the big deal? President Obama went missing for his entire term as a United States Senator and then followed that up by disappearing for nearly a week during the Iran street protests. And the media barely made a peep.

Obama had very good friends Pakistani friends and roommates in college and traveled to Pakistan where he learned to cook the native foods and came to appreciate the great Urdu poets.
A volume of President Obama's beloved Urdu poetry
It’s not surprising that the President’s personal narrative on the campaign trail didn’t include this item:
He had very good friends Pakistani friends and roommates in college and traveled to Pakistan where he learned to cook the native foods and came to appreciate the great Urdu poets.
We can only assume that story was buried along with his middle name until the campaign was over and it was safe to bring them again.
But the President made these interesting admissions during interview with Anwar Iqbal of Pakistan’s Dawn Media Group this weekend:
Iqbal: Any plan to visit Pakistan in the near future? Obama: I would love to visit. As you know, I had Pakistani roommates in college who were very close friends of mine. I went to visit them when I was still in college; was in Karachi and went to Hyderabad. Their mothers taught me to cook. Iqbal: What can you cook? Obama: Oh, keema…daal…You name it, I can cook it. And so I have a great affinity for Pakistani culture and the great Urdu poets. Iqbal: You read Urdu poetry? Obama: Absolutely. So my hope is that I’m going to have an opportunity at some point to visit Pakistan.

A barrel of crude oil has spilled or seeped into the sea at offshore Platform Holly two miles off Santa Barbara. One barrel.
Holly Platform, two miles off the Santa Barbara coast, where one barrel (gasp) of oil spilled. Or seeped. Or something.
This is a story actually considered newsworthy by the Associated Press:
Barrel of crude oil spills into sea off Santa Barbara
A barrel of crude oil has spilled or seeped into the sea at offshore Platform Holly two miles off Santa Barbara.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Cory Mendenhall says the guard’s Los Angeles-Long Beach sector received a National Response Center report of a spill at the Venoco-operated platform before dawn Monday.
The cause hasn’t been disclosed.
Clean Seas has been contracted for clean up. The Coast Guard says containment booms are keeping the oil from spreading and clean up has begun. Venoco vice president Michael Edwards says the platform is shut down and natural seepage may be to blame. Edwards says 150 barrels of crude seeps in the area each day.
To repeat, one barrel spilled. Not one million barrels. Not one hundred thousand barrels. One barrel. One lonely barrel. And it may not have spilled at all. It may have seeped. Because up to 150 barrels seep naturally into the area every day.
But it made a damn fine headline. And we thank you for your hard-hitting reportage, Associated Press.
Hot Dog Diplomacy: President Obama is dealing with the oppressive Iranian regime by wooing them with wieners at a series of 4th of July celebrations around the world.
President Obama unveils his new hot dog diplomacy
How is the President dealing with the oppressive Iranian regime? By wooing them with wieners at a series of 4th of July celebrations around the world.
No. Seriously. Blood may be flowing in the streets of Tehran, but that won’t keep the ketchup from flowing at our embassies around the world.
Hot Dog Diplomacy
Earlier this month, Obama ordered our embassies to invite Iranian diplomats to their annual 4th of July celebrations. And in the minds of Obama’s state department officials, Iran’s brutal oppression of freedom fighters is no reason to dis-invite them from our celebrations of freedom.
“There’s no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats,” State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said.
“We have made a strategic decision to engage on a number of fronts with Iran,” he continued. “We tried many years of isolation, and we’re pursuing a different path now.”
“Pork ribs,” Joe Biden thought to himself. “Let’s offer ‘em pork ribs. Everybody loves a good pork rib.”
It seems that Huffington Post reporter Nico Pitney and the Obama team has preplanned the question and answer on Iran at today’s Press Conference.
The self-described “most transparent administration in history” took another step toward self-immolation at the President’s press conference today.
Just moments before the press conference began, Huffington Post reporter Nico Pitney was personally escorted from the nether regions of the White House Press Room by deputy press secretary Josh Earnest. Pitney was awarded a prime spot just inside the barricade.
Miraculously, President Obama not only singled out Pitney for a question, but seemed to know exactly what the question would be, setting off alarms for all the other reporters present.
“Nico, I know you and all across the Internet, we’ve been seeing a lot of reports coming out of Iran,” Obama said. “I know there may actually be questions from people in Iran who are communicating through the Internet. Do you have a question?”
Pitney pretended to ignore Obama’s introduction and asked his question as if the President hadn’t tipped it: “I wanted to use this opportunity to ask you a question directly from an Iranian.”
Of course, Chris Matthews will say this just proves that the president has added clairvoyance to his other remarkable talents he has exhibited as The Greatest President In the Universe.
The British government has issued new guidelines that put an end to the traditional “i” before “e” spelling rule. They say there are just too many exceptions.
The British government has issued new guidelines that put an end to the traditional “i” before “e” spelling rule. They say there are just too many exceptions.
Here’s how the Associated Press reported the story (please take special note of the correction AP added at the end of the story):
The “Support For Spelling” document, which is being sent to thousands of primary schools, says the rule “is not worth teaching” because it doesn’t account for words like ‘sufficient,’ ‘veil’ and ‘their.’
Jack Bovill of the Spelling Society, which advocates simplified spelling, said Saturday he agreed with the decision.
But supporters say the ditty has value because it is one of the few language rules that most people remember.
(This version CORRECTS spelling of Bovill, sted Bovell, in graf 4.)
That’s right, the first version of the AP story spelled the spokesman’s name “Bovell,” but the corrected version spelled it “Bovill,” in effect validating the entire story by putting “e” before “i.”
Actor and awful father Alec Baldwin is writing a book on parenting. We assume it’s title will be “Do As I Say, Not As I Do.”
Father of the Year Alec Baldwin with his verbally-abused daughter Ireland
We can’t decide if this is funny or sad. Maybe both. Actor and awful father Alec Baldwin is writing a book on parenting. We assume it’s title will be “Do As I Say, Not As I Do.”
Ironically, he reveals his plans in family-friendly Playboy magazine:
“It will be ironic for some people, but I’m going to write a parenting book. We’re at… an awful place right now in terms of parenting. People are raising their children with the belief that we need to be friends with our children. Kids have too much power and call too many of the shots, telling their parents what they will and won’t do.”
Baldwin continues:
“People come home, walk up the driveway, put the key in the door, and they can’t do another hard job. Parenting your children effectively is a tough job.”
Here’s a sneak preview of the audio book version of Alec Baldwin’s Guide to Good Parenting. (It’s actually the god awful voicemail he left for his 11-year old daughter a few years ago, but we present it as a public service in hopes that no one – absolutely no one – will make the mistake of buying this lunatic’s parenting book).
Oklahoma’s Republican Senator Tom Coburn has come up with a list of “stimulus” projects that fritter away your hard-earned taxes.
That "stimulus" money is burning a hole in Obama's pocket.
Oklahoma’s Republican Senator Tom Coburn is tight with a dollar. His dollar. Your dollar. Everybody’s dollar. He’s come up with a list of “stimulus” projects that fritter away your hard-earned taxes.
The Senator didn’t compile this list on his own. He collected stories from local newspapers that questioned how stimulus dollars were being spent on projects in their areas.
Here are some of the wasteful, wacky projects scheduled for funding in the “stimulus” program:
$840,000 to repair a bridge in Portage County, Wisconsin, that carries just 260 vehicles a day – mostly to an isolated saloon and a country club.
$1.3 million to Solon Township, Michigan to help pay for a wastewater treatment plant local residents don’t want. There’s no plan for the plant and local support for it is questionable.
$3.4 million for an underground wildlife road crossing on U.S. Highway 27 for turtles and other wildlife in Lake Jackson, Florida. (A spokesman for the Florida Transportation Department said the project is needed for safety because turtles hit by vehicles can become flying projectiles. Seriously. He said that.)
$1.5 million in stimulus money to partially fund a new wastewater treatment plant in Perkins, Oklahoma. The new plant was originally scheduled to cost $5 million, but strings attached to the “stimulus” money will increase the cost to $7.2 million. As a result of the cost increases, the city will be forced to borrow the additional money and increase utility taxes by 60% to pay for it.
$300 road signs to be placed at construction sites to inform motorists that the project is being paid for by the “stimulus” money.
$2.2 million to intall skylights in Montana’s state-run liquor warehouse.
We would like to propose an additional program:
$7.75 million to study the impact on rodents when money is pounded down rat holes.
Lydia Guevara, the smokin’ hot granddaughter of murderous Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guevara will appear semi-nude in a new PETA ad campaign.
No baby carrots were harming in the production of this ad.
Lydia Guevara, the smokin’ hot granddaughter of murderous Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guevara will appear semi-nude in a new PETA ad campaign.
She’ll be seen wearing camouflage pants, a red beret, and bandoliers filled with baby carrots.
The campaign will be launched in October in Argentina, where Che Guevara was born, then spread around the globe faster than a virulent strain of swine flu.
“It very much evokes the tag line of the ad, which is ‘Join the vegetarian revolution,'” said PETA spokesman Michael McGraw. “It’s an homage of sorts to her late grandfather.”
Apparently, McGraw knows a lot more about baby carrots than he does about history. Any honest homage to Che Guevera should include the rotting, stinking corpses of his innocent victims.
But that wouldn’t look nearly as good on a poster as his semi-nude granddaughter, would it?
Obama has written a note for a 10 year-old girl for her school, but what has gone unreported is the fact that President Obama figured he was on a roll and started writing excuse notes for other people
President Obama has started issuing pardons early in his administration.
You’ve heard the story by now. A father took his 10-year old daughter to see President Obama speak last week. He mentioned that his daughter had ditched school to come with him and that she’d probably get in trouble. Protocol be damned. The President wrote a note to her teacher.
It read: “To Kennedy’s teacher: Please excuse Kennedy’s absence. She’s with me. Barack Obama.”
It was a touching, heartwarming story. But what has gone unreported is the fact that President Obama figured he was on a roll and started writing excuse notes for other people:
“To the American People: Please excuse Joe Biden. He’s with me. Barack Obama.”
“To all Muslims: Please excuse America for the evil things it does. I apologize. Barack Obama.”
“To my half-brother George Obama: Please excuse me for letting you live in a wretched hut in Nairobi. You’re on your own. Barack Obama.”
Even the liberal Associated Press says the Democrats are getting ready to pay for their socialist agenda with a slew of new taxes.
“No new taxes on anyone earning less than $250,000 per year.” That’s what Obama claimed during the campaign.
C’mon, we all knew that was about as legit as an Iranian election.
Even the liberal Associated Press says the Democrats are getting ready to pay for their socialist agenda with a slew of new taxes. (OK, maybe AP didn’t call it a socialist agenda, but we can only assumee that was an oversight).
The list of options being weighed by the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, and obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, aims to raise some $600 billion over 10 years to partially pay for President Barack Obama’s goal of overhauling the nation’s health care system to tame costs and cover the 50 million uninsured.
The final price tag for that effort could top $1 trillion, with cuts to Medicare and Medicaid covering the rest of the cost.
The tax options include:
– Increasing the price of soda and other sugary drinks by 10 cents a can.
– Applying a potential 2 percent income tax increase to single taxpayers earning more than $200,000 a year and households earning more than $250,000.
– A new employer payroll tax could target 3 percent of employers’ health care expenditures.
– Taxing employer-provided health insurance benefits above certain levels – a less likely option but one that still is in the running.
To paraphrase George Harrison, “If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street. If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat. If you get to cold, I’ll tax the heat. If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet. ‘Cause I’m Obama. Yeah, I’m Obama.”
President Obama doesn’t want the government to own car companies. No, no, no. Anyone who thinks that is sorely mistaken. He insists this current “ownership” thing is just temporary.
Why, three years from now, both companies will be so financially robust that they somehow will no longer need billions of dollars in government subsidies.
Hey, wait a minute. That’s what the same thing they said back in 1971 when Congress legislated Amtrak into existence. Here’s Wikipedia’s description of how that’s worked out:
“Amtrak commenced operations in 1971 with $40 million in direct Federal aid, $100 million in Federally insured loans, and a somewhat larger private contribution. Officials expected that Amtrak would break even by 1974, but those expectations proved unrealistic and annual direct Federal aid reached a 17-year high in 1981 of $1.25 billion. During the Reagan administration, appropriations were halved. By 1986, Federal support fell to a decade low of $601 million, almost none of which were capital appropriations….by 1995 Amtrak was on the brink of a cash crisis and was unable to continue to service its debts.”
So Congress dug a little deeper into your pocket and upped the subsidy. Every year. Here’s what you’ve kindly contributed to Amtrak in the last five years.
To summarize: In 1971, Congress said Amtrak would be self-sufficient in three years. 38 years later, the subsidies are bigger than ever and the service is worse than ever.
It doesn’t take Nostradamus to predict the future for GM and Chrysler. If you can read history, you can see the future.

Todd Palin step aside, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” is kicking David Letterman’s ass, with dominant wins in every important demographic, plus a victory in total viewers.
If you listen closely you can hear David Letterman's ratings disintegrating
“The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” has delivered a convincing victory in its second week on the air, with dominant wins in every important demographic – adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 – plus a victory in total viewers.
Conan won the week over all cable and broadcast entertainment competition, beating his closest rival, CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman,” by a 79 percent margin in adult 18-49 viewers, despite the controversy involving Gov. Sarah Palin that has boosted interest in “Late Show,” and a lineup of prominent “Late Show” guests last week that included Howard Stern and Julia Roberts. The 79 percent advantage is “Tonight’s” most dominant win over a full week of “Late Show” originals, excluding Conan’s premiere week, in five years (since the week of the “Friends” finale, May 3-7, 2004).
Conan’s lead last week soared to 177 percent in the younger half of the target 18-49 demographic, adults 18-34 (1.040 million adults 18-34 vs. 376,000). In men 18-34, the margin was 245 percent (545,000 vs. 158,000). The median age of Conan’s audience last week was 45.7, 11 years younger than Letterman’s 56.7
In a statement that’s either refreshingly politically incorrect or remarkably blunt or maybe both, British universities have announced that they will attempt to cut costs by “culling the stupids.”
There's no way this guy could get into a British university.
In a statement that’s either refreshingly politically incorrect or remarkably blunt or maybe both, British universities have announced that they will attempt to cut costs by “culling the stupids.”
Henceforth, only the top one third of applicants will be accepted into British universities. Theoretically, those smart kids will be able to figure out that that means two thirds of students who would have been accepted into universities in the past will be rejected this year.
Perhaps the Brits should simply do as we do here in America and elevate their idiots to vice president.
Delahunt, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight, flew to Bermuda Friday to investigate Uighur terrorists.
Congressman Delahunt specializes in tropical vacation investigations. He's already investigated vital issues in Venezuela and Cuba in 2009.
You can count on Democrat Congressman Bill Delahunt. He’ll get to the bottom of this Uighur scandal even if he has to drink every last pina colada in Bermuda to do so.
Delahunt, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight, flew to Bermuda Friday.
His mission? To interview the former Gitmo Uighur detainees who took up residence in a beachfront Bahamian house last week.
But please do not make the mistake of thinking this is some kind of taxpayer-paid weekend in the islands for Delahunt. No, siree, Bob. This is a weekend fact-finding mission prior to a full-blown congressional hearings he wants to hold in the Bahamas. Hearings that will undoubtedly require the congressman to spend weeks and weeks working his fingers to the bone.
We can picture the Congressman now, looking those Chinese terrorists right square in the eye and asking the tough questions.
