Quote of the Week:
Republican Congressman Greg Walden

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvoeeq-BH4whttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQfkATCpW3cRepublican Congressman Greg Walden, who once owned a classic rock radio station in Oregon, put the Fairness Doctrine in perfect perspective when he said it’s “the musical equivalent” of “every time we’d play a classic rock song we’d have to play a polka.”

And here, for your entertainment pleasure, are two videos showing you exactly how that would work.

“Impartial” author of Michelle Obama Vogue article hosted fundraiser for the future president

michelle_obama_vogue_coverWhat’s this world coming to when you can’t trust Vogue magazine to be impartial?

Turns out that cover story featuring Michelle Obama in fancy-schmancy designer fashions was written by editor-at large Andre Leon Talley. And it turns out Talley also hosted an $1000 per plate fundraiser for Barack Obama along with Vogue editor Anna Wintour and designer Calvin Klein.

“With her long, lean, athletic frame, she moves as if she could have danced with Alvin Ailey in another life,” the article gushed. “Curled up in the corner of a huge taupe velvet sofa, wearing knee-high boots as she nestles into the cushions, she almost seems like any other mom recently relocated to a city because of her husband’s new job.”

We’re thinking of starting a new website. Does anyone know if “IHateButtKissingFashionMagazines.com” is available.

MUST LISTEN: Camille Paglia Trashes “Immature” Democrats for Pushing Return to ‘Fairness Doctrine’

Camille Paglia, noted democrat, dissident feminist, college professor of Humanities and Media Studies, and registered Democrat whose 2000 presidential vote was Ralph Nader, slams her fellow liberals for straying away so far from the free speech ideals of the Democratic Party with their support for the Fairness Doctrine. Forward the link to this article to your democrat representatives.

Obama team hiring journalists fast as they can be laid off

The newspaper business may be dying, but journalists’ careers are being reincarnated by the Obama administration.

The latest is the Chicago Tribune’s Jill Zuckman. She’s hooking up with the administration as Director of Public Affairs at the Department of Transportation. Peter Gosselin, one of her coworkers at the Trib, recently hired on as chief speech writer for Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Time Magazine’s Jay Carney is now Joe Biden’s communications director. CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta is rumored to be in the running for Surgeon General.

Many conservatives fear this intentional blurring of the lines between impartial journalism and partisan politics.

(Hey, who picked up the mail today? Did anyone notice if our job offer came in yet?)

Bill Maher doesn’t know how much Obama doesn’t know

Poor Bill Maher. If he believed in the first coming of Christ, he would undoubtedly have told us that Barack Obama was the second coming of Christ. That’s how much he believed in his candidate.

But now that Obama is president, the “comedian” seems to be feeling a little less confident. Obama’s only been in office for three weeks, but Maher sounded a bit defensive on last night’s Larry King program.

“I think Obama is learning, and he certainly is the smartest guy we’ve had there that I can remember,” Maher puffed. “But there’s always a learning curve.”

Had it been anyone other than Larry King conducting the interview, they would have posed some interesting follow-up questions.

Larry simply continued his brief nap before cutting to a commercial.

Why is that innocent Palestinian “medic” packing a Kalashnikov assault rifle?

naimThe number of civilians killed in the recent Gaza conflict is dropping almost as fast as Hamas’ credibility.

During the conflict, the Palestinian Authority wailed that Israel was slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians. One of them was supposedly an “innocent” medic named Naim. And the international press dutifully reported every word as truth.

“Following the clashes,” the Israel Defense Force announced, “the Palestinian press reported that Naim was killed and that he was a medic with the Palestinian Red Crescent. The Gaza CLA, however, produced photographs of Naim posing holding a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and Continue reading “Why is that innocent Palestinian “medic” packing a Kalashnikov assault rifle?”

Ann Curry leans forward, kisses Bill Clinton’s butt

The Today Show’s Ann Curry annoys us. Really annoys us.

Specifically, it’s her annoying interview technique that bugs us. The exaggerated, hunched over posturing toward the subject of her interview. The deep, serious voice she affects. Oh, yeah, and her softball questions.

ann_curry

“Your wife is front and center as Secretary of State at a time when this world, this country is in a world of hurt,” she said to Bill Clinton on Monday’s Today Show. “What’s your faith in her?”

C’mon, Ann, what did she think he was going to say? “Well, she’s already pissed off the North Koreans. And the Palestinians say she’s no Madeleine Albright. But I’m just happy because the job keeps her away from Chappaqua.”

Ann Curry. Another reason we hate the media.

Biden worships the water Democrats walk on

joe_biden_fingersThe only way Joe Biden can go a day without saying something really stupid is to stuff a sock in his mouth as soon as he wakes up in the morning. And that might not even solve his problem.

The verbally-challenged Biden thanked Democrats in the House of Representatives for passing the President’s $819 billion “stimulus” bill.

“In these uncharted waters,” the MixMaster of Metaphors said, “you stepped up in a big way.”

Then he startled damn near everyone in the room by continuing to talk about the bloated bill and saying there’s a “30 percent chance we’ll get it wrong.”

We just checked with our favorite Las Vegas bookie. He says there’s a 90% chance Obama will beat the living putty out of Biden before the 2010 midterm elections.

When do religious broadcasters want the Fairness Doctrine? When hell freezes over.

Christian Broadcaster Pat Roberson
Christian Broadcaster Pat Roberson

Chalk up another vote against the Fairness Doctrine – this one from religious broadcasters.

“If I happen to say declaratively that the Bible tells me that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and nobody comes to the Father but by Him,” said Christian talk show host Janet Parshall, “I am not interested in giving equal time to Buddha, Hinduism, or L. Ron Hubbard.”

We generally think political speech is the target of the Fairness Doctrine, but the only broadcast license that’s ever been revoked belonged to a Christian station. In 1964, a Pennsylvania Christian station carried a program on which the Reverend Billy James Hargis criticized author Fred Cook. When Cook was refused a chance to respond, he reported the station to the FCC. The station’s license was eventually revoked.

Can’t wait to hear Teddy Kennedy’s response to the Ten Commandments.

John Kerry says he can spend your money better than you can

Democrat Senator John Kerry, who’s never earned a cent of his own money and who lives extravagantly on money his wife didn’t earn, thinks he knows how to spend the money you earn better than you do.

There’s no doubt that the Senator is a highly-trained professional with years of experience spending other people’s money, whether it belongs to his wives or his constituents.

We miss John Kerry since he retreated to the shadows. His comments used to be good for at least a laugh a week.

How much of that trillion dollar stimulus package is going toward Michelle’s wardrobe?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gRnWbHyhckDuring the presidential campaign the media said Michelle Obama was just an average gal who found her neat, but inexpensive wardrobe by picking through the racks at Target like any other working mom.

But after the election was over, the truth came out. Michelle dumped Target in less time than it took Barack to dump tax-dodgin’ Tom Daschle.

The latest issue of Vogue features the new first lady on the cover and in a photo spread modeling a black dress by Narciso Rodriguez and a magenta dress by Jason Woo (who also designed her inaugural ball gown). All the outfits would have been taboo before November 5.

“I’m not going to pretend that I don’t care about it,” the First Lady said. “But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear — people just have different tastes.”

Now we understand why Juan Williams caught so much flak for calling her “Stokely Carmichael in a dress.” He should have said, “Stokely Carmichael in a Jason Woo.”

Jim Cramer says N.Y.T. = B.S.

Taking financial advice from the New York Times is like taking health tips from Dr. Kevorkian. That’s why you have to take the financially shaky newspaper’s assessment of the “stimulus” plan with a grain of salt. Maybe a block of salt.

CNBC’s Jim Cramer thinks it’s so bad and that the New York Times coverage of the bill is so deceitful that went on one of his trademark rants while discussing it.

“Now if you were to believe what’s in the papers, holy cow, except for the funny papers,” Cramer said, “you would think this package was wonderful.”

“Look at the front page of The New York Times today,” he continued. “I love this one. ‘Measuring a Victory’ by this guy, Stevenson…it’s like a comedy routine. ‘It is a quick, sweet victory for the new president and potentially a historic one.’ Who edits this B.S.?”

Cramer went on to carve the “stimulus” package up like a plump Thanksgiving turkey.

And that is what’s known in literary circles as an apt metaphor. Or maybe it’s an apt simile. Or one of those other literary things.

Alexandra Pelosi: Documentarian. Author. Media critic?

alexandra_pelosiAlexandra Pelosi, daughter of the overly-Botoxed Speaker of the House, now makes documentaries. Her latest work, “Right America: Feeling Wronged,” premiers Monday on HBO.

Pelosi labels herself as a fierce media critic. Once, while speaking to a group of journalism students at NYU, she said the media is “the biggest problem that we have in America right now.” She even wrote a book called, “Sneaking into the Flying Circus: How the Media Turn Our Presidential Campaigns into Freak Shows.” It covers such fertile ground as the media’s “dysfunctional relationship” with candidates.

Let’s make a deal. We’ll read Alexandra Pelosi’s book as soon as her mother reads the economic “stimulus” plan she just passed.

What we haven’t read will cost you $15 on Amazon.com right now. What Pelosi hasn’t read will cost us $1,000,000,000,000. If we’re lucky.

Matthews says Obama’s like Fred Astaire, fantasizes he’s Ginger Rogers

Fred Astaire and Chris Matthews
Fred Astaire and Chris Matthews

Let us be the first to say it: Come out of the closet, Chris Matthews.

Matthews on-going Obama-erotic comments get stranger and stranger on a nightly basis. Now the host of MSNBC’s Hardball has compared Barack Obama to suave 1940’s dancer and heartthrob Fred Astaire.

“Yeah, he’s Fred Astaire out there,” Matthews enthused. “He is light-hearted, I mean he’s light, he still moves around with incredible alacrity.”

For god’s sake, Chris, this charade you’re living isn’t good for anyone. Just put on a nice, frilly gown and ask Obama for the next dance. Get it over with.

The team here at IHateTheMedia.com is behind you all the way. In a manly sort of way, of course.

Children charged with child porn

Remember when middle school boys liked baseball and cartoons and had only heard vague rumors of mysterious creatures called “girls?” Well, in case you haven’t noticed, times have changed.

Six Massachusetts middle school boys are right in the middle of a child porn problem. And they’re the perpetrators, not the victims.

One of the mini-pornographers snapped a nude photo of his completely compliant 13-year-old girlfriend, then forwarding the photo to his five buddies.

“The six boys, ages 12 to 14,” said the Boston Herald, “will be summoned to Falmouth District Court for a hearing to determine whether they should be charged with possessing, exhibiting or distributing child porn in the form of a text message photo, according to The Cape Cod Times.”

This new type of texting is referred to as “Sexting.”

No word yet as to whether any of the kids are Kennedys.

Axelrod on Fairness Doctrine: “I don’t have an answer for you now.”

Quick Link: On Fox News Sunday today David Axelrod told hold Chris Wallace “I’m going to leave that issue [Fairness Doctrine] to Julius Genachowski, our new head of the FCC, to, and the president, to discuss. So I don’t have an answer for you now.” Read: Axelrod punts on fairness doctrine.

Obama the Musical, starring Joe Biden as the Scarecrow

They say Barack Obama inspired millions around the world. But the inspiration doesn’t stop there. No siree, bob.

“Obama on My Mind,” an Obama-inspired musical, opens at in London in March. Teddy Hayes, a U.S.-born writer, wrote the music and lyrics.

The “humorous romp” takes place in an Obama campaign office, complete with songs that mix pop, gospel, jazz, Motown, and even tango.

Luckily, the producers don’t have to find a singing Commander In Chief look-alike, because the Obama character never appears onstage. “Nobody can really impersonate Obama, can they?” Hayes quipped. “He’s a one-off.”

Our toes are tappin’ already. Oh, wait, that’s just the nervous tic we developed since we heard the details of the “stimulus” plan.

Story of Buffalo beheading has no legs

Three days ago in Buffalo, NY, Muzzammil Hassan sawed the head off his wife Aasiya Hassan — we’re going to say it — Islamofascist-style in a gift to the press that’s normally insatiable for this type of story. Ironically, Mr. Hassan is the founder of Bridges TV network, formed to improve the image of Muslim-Americans in the U.S. So where’s the story?

Conservative commentators knew there would be just token press, and they were proven right. If it were a Christian (or any non-media-protected group), it would have been all over television and print media. But, just three days out, and we see that not only does the poor wife no longer have a head, but the story has no legs. Continue reading “Story of Buffalo beheading has no legs”

Hooray for Hollywood: Stimulus package already working

mad_money_movieEvery Saturday morning, the movie industry announces three day box offices results for a weekend that still has two days to go. That makes Hollywood the only business in the world that is able to both rewrite history and the future.

For example, a headline yesterday read, “What Recession? Biggest Presidents Day Weekend In Hollywood History.”

This uncanny ability to peer into the future brings up one very sticky question:
If movie industry executives have the ability to tell how a movie is going to do before it does it, why do they make so many movies that do so poorly? Continue reading “Hooray for Hollywood: Stimulus package already working”

Barbara Boxer more interested in the floor of her house than the floor of the Senate

barbara_boxerWe generally hate the media. But we love it when they actually do their job. For example, Roll Call’s Heard on the Hill column nailed Barbara Boxer for one of her recent actions.

Picture this. Al Gore is on the floor of the senate, rattling on endlessly about global warming and how the timebomb is ticking. Boxer stands up and walks out.

Did she leave to protest Gore’s vision of doom and gloom? To attend a vital committee meeting? To confer with the President about saving the nation’s economy? Continue reading “Barbara Boxer more interested in the floor of her house than the floor of the Senate”

New York Times attempts to bail out the bail-out expert

Here’s all the evidence you need – if you still needed any — to convince yourself that the New York Times sees the world differently than you do.

After the stock market dropped nearly 400 points upon hearing Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner’s vague outline of his “stimulus” plan, The Times seemed to blame the decline on television’s talking heads.

“Initial reviews for the man and his plan were not good, however. Stock markets slid through the day, perhaps spurred downward by withering punditry on the business-news cable channels faulting Mr. Geithner for not providing more details, particularly on stemming home foreclosures. Senators of both parties lodged similar complaints at a hearing.”

Next week the Times has scheduled an article blaming Captain Sullenberger for running into those poor geese.

The second funniest commentary on the internet

We’ve never met Tim Blair but we read his blog. You should, too. He’s a columnist for the Sydney Daily Telegraph. Yes, that Sydney. The one with kangaroos and prisoners way down there on the other side of the world.

With all the humility we can muster, we say Tim’s the second funniest commentator on the web. Here are a couple of his recent comments:

PRESIDENT DOESN’T CARE. At least 42 people are dead and possibly one million are without power and water – while their President hosts cocktail parties and watches the Superbowl. Bush has really blown it this time. The media will tear him apart.

UPDATE. Apparently Bush is no longer President. It’s some new guy instead. Boy, is he ever in trouble!

HEY, AT LEAST HE DELIVERED CHANGE. Letter in the February edition of Viz: “I don’t know why everyone is so pleased about America getting a black president. Zimbabwe has had one for years and he’s s**t.”

Check Tim out. Bookmark his blog.

Joaquin Phoenix officially named craziest man in Hollywood

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXpYk7WGN5YWhat can we say about this clip from the David Letterman’s Late Show? Hell, even Letterman was at a loss for words.

Congratulations, Joaquin. You’ve officially become the craziest person in a town crammed chock full of crazies.

Carter says he’s against the Fairness Doctrine. Is it senility talking?

Former President Jimmy Carter weighed in with his opinion of the Fairness Doctrine.

“Well, I liked it when it first came out,” Carter said, “because I was just a child listening to programs, and I liked to hear some limits on some of the programs. But no. As a matter of fact, when I was president is when we deregulated radio, television, all the communications and relationships, so I have not been in favor of perpetuating the Fairness Doctrine since I’ve been in politics.”

After Carter sat back with that trademark silly smirk on his face, an aide nudged him, then whispered in his ear.

“I just found out my friends Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won’t be covered by the Fairness Doctrine,” the former president is rumored to perhaps have said. “In that case, I’m against it.”

Me(d)ia (d)eclines to i(d)entify (d)emocrat scan(d)als

elephant_donkeyLamar Smith, ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, strode purposely to the floor of the House of Representatives yesterday to discuss the elephant in the room. And the donkey that isn’t.

“The national media spells scandal without the ‘D,'” Smith roared during the one-minute daily speech allotted every member of the House.

“Two weeks ago the Governor of Illinois was removed from office,” he said. “All three television networks ran full reports on the story the same night and again the following morning. Not one report mentioned that he is a Democrat.”

To reinforce his point, Smith noted that the major media also failed to identify the party affiliation of troubled Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon, jailed Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, and ousted New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.

“Americans need and deserve balanced reporting from the media, not selective omissions,” Smith added.

We completely agree with Smith. So let us point out to you that he is a Texas Republican.
