They may have removed the cancer from Jerry Brown’s nose, but the cancer of socialism is still growing unchecked in the state of California.
It’s been said that Jerry Brown was born with a nose for politics. Maybe so, but he has a little less of that nose today.
CBS Sacramento has the proboscis particulars:
Gov. Jerry Brown has undergone surgery to remove a cancerous growth on his nose, his office said Saturday.
Brown nose: They're still ignoring the real cancer in the state of California
The governor’s office said in a statement that Brown, 73, had the procedure under local anesthetic Friday, after tests revealed the presence of basal cell carcinoma, a common, slow-growing form of skin cancer, on the right side of his nose.
“All of the basal carcinoma cells were removed, but some reconstructive surgery to the nose was required as a result of the procedure,” his office said. “Governor Brown is at home and has continued to conduct state business today.”
They may have removed the cancer from Jerry Brown’s nose, but the cancer of socialism is still growing unchecked in the state of California. Everyone knows this ugly growth is killing the patient, but no one is willing to cut it off. In fact, Brown’s solution to the state’s budget crisis is – no surprise – more taxes.
This is one of those cases where the cause of death is known in advance and the obituary is written long before the patient actually dies.
Still in need of an executive producer and other staff, famously difficult Olbermann has crawled back to his contacts at MSNBC, many of whom he offended while there, to beg for staff.
This is one of the best stories we’ve ever heard. Keith Olbermann is denying it –- repeatedly denying it, we might add –- but you tell us if it doesn’t sound 100% probable.
Pompous. Arrogant. Angry. Nasty. Bitter. Self-centered. Sounds like the perfect boss.
The New York Post reviews the current situation at Current TV:
Gasbag Keith Olbermann can’t seem to wrangle staff for his Current TV show, “Countdown.” Still in need of an executive producer and other staff, famously difficult Olbermann has crawled back to his contacts at MSNBC, many of whom he offended while there, to beg for staff. “Everyone is laughing,” said a source. “They would never leave the network to work for him.”
Pompous. Arrogant. Angry. Nasty. Self-centered. Bitter. Fired from every job he’s ever had. Sounds like the perfect boss.
The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans), however, has stymied Orcutt, California’s American flag monument, calling it an impermissible act of “public expression.”
Just a few miles down the road from IHateTheMedia.com’s intergalactic headquarters you’ll find the lovely little village of Orcutt, California. There’s trouble in Orcutt.
A private group raised $60,000 to erect a 60-foot flagpole and monument at the entrance to the community’s Old Town section. Since it’s located right between a freeway exit and a park-and-ride lot, it may not be the most picturesque spot. But no one ever said patriotism had to be picturesque.
Scale model of the "offensive" American flag monument in Orcutt, California
Plans for the monument show a 60-foot American flag surrounded by pillars representing each branch of the military.
So far, so good. But now The Weekly Standard reveals what happened when the State of California got involved:
The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans), however, has stymied the effort, calling it an impermissible act of “public expression.”
The Orcutt Pioneer reports that, although the Old Town Orcutt Revitalization Association (OTORA) “intends its flag as a tribute and symbol of freedom” — which would seem to be how most Americans would view their nation’s flag — “CalTrans sees it as a form of speech or expression, something more personal than patriotic.”
OTORA, a typical Tocquevillean-style private civil association, has been fundraising for over a year to collect the necessary $60,000 to build the flagpole and monument, above which would wave a 12-by-18-foot iteration Stars and Stripes. But CalTrans has declared that its policy forbids such efforts. In a letter to OTORA, CalTrans explains that it developed its policy in response to a ruling released by a 3-judge panel of the notorious Ninth Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, a ruling that was issued in response to impromptu flag-hanging in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals? Who ever would have expected those patriots to make a decision like this?

How’s that Cairo speech aftermath workin’ for you, President Obama? All those pretty words, all those flowery phrases, all those good intentions gone. Poof. Vanished. Turns out the Muslim world hates Barack Obama every bit as much as they hated George Bush.
Please stop screaming. We have a headache this morning.
Check out this story from Middle East Media Research Institute:
Following are excerpts from a statement by Sheik ‘Atiyya Muhammad Sa’id, a member of the Sudanese Islamic Scholars Association, at a rally, which was posted on the Internet on May 5, 2011:
Sheik ‘Atiyya Muhammad Sa’id: By Allah, the state of Islam will be established upon the land, whether the infidels like it or not, whether the Jews like it or not, whether that apostate… What’s his name… The one from America… Obama! Obama is a Muslim who has left the fold of Islam. Hence, Allah, the angels, and all the people curse him. He is a real apostate. Obama is an apostate. Obama is an apostate. He left the fold of Islam…
Crowds: The apostate must be executed.
The apostate must be executed.
The apostate must be executed.
The apostate must be executed.
Calm down, guys. Chill. Relax. November 2012 is just around the corner and then you’ll have a new American president to hate.
The only difference will be that the new one won’t bow to your kings and and his attorney general won’t kiss your butts.
Jeff Immelt, the man who’s done more for the green movement than any other CEO in America, has now had a change of heart. At least that’s what he’d have you believe.
Jeff Immelt, the man who’s done more for the green movement than any other CEO in America, has now had a change of heart. At least that’s what he’d have you believe.
"Hmmmm. What can I say that will lure a few more suckers into the carnival tent?"
Reuters has the story of Immelt’s supposed conversion from the religion of the Goddess Gaia:
“If I had one thing to do over again I would not have talked so much about green,” Immelt said at an event sponsored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. “Even though I believe in global warming and I believe in the science … it just took on a connotation that was too elitist; it was too precious and it let opponents think that if you had a green initiative, you didn’t care about jobs. I’m a businessman. That’s all I care about, is jobs.”
Here’s our bottom line:
When Immelt stops taking boatloads of federal dollars, when he stands up against those stupid twisty light bulbs, when he puts out a memo telling NBC to end those moronic green weeks, that’s when we’ll believe anything he has to say on this subject.
According to the old saying, “If you try to please everyone, you won’t please anyone.” John McCain is the personification of that saying.
According to the old saying, “If you try to please everyone, you won’t please anyone.” John McCain is the personification of that saying.
KOLD-TV has the results of a new poll that Arizona’s senior senator will undoubtedly find particularly unpleasant:
If you thought John McCain was angry before, just wait until he sees the results of this poll
John McCain has the second-lowest approval rating among U.S. senators, according to a new poll.
About one-third of Arizona’s registered voters approve of McCain’s job performance — 34 percent compared with 53 percent who disapprove of the job he’s doing — according to a new poll by Public Policy Polling.
That’s a drop from 40 percent approval in January.
Only Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) scored lower among sitting senators, 29 percent to 58 percent.
To repeat, McCain’s approval rating is a lowly 34%.
Let this be a lesson: Officially abandon your party and become the United States Senator with the lowest approval rating. Unofficially abandon your party and become the senator with the second lowest approval rating.
It appears that people have figured out that the definition of maverick is “someone who has no moral convictions and is willing to screw anyone anytime anywhere.”
White House Security Adviser Tom Donilon showed up on Fox News Sunday and quickly painted himself into a very tiny corner.
White House Security Adviser Tom Donilon showed up on Fox News Sunday and quickly painted himself into a very tiny corner.
He did what he was sent out to do – defend President Obama’s contradictory terror policies – but made himself look remarkably foolish in the process.
Donilon parroted the Obama administration line that waterboarding Khalid Sheikh Mohammad was against our American values, but didn’t have an answer when host Chris Wallace asked him to explain how that jibed with shooting Osama in the head.
Jon Stewart puts together a montage of liberals speaking from the same script. This time, the subject is Obama’s “defining moment.”
Jon Stewart should pay Rush Limbaugh royalties for this bit. He rips off El Rushbo’s trick of putting together a montage of liberals speaking from the same script. This time, the subject is Obama’s “defining moment.”
And then, all of a sudden, Stewart veers into unexpected territory with a montage of clips in which Ed Schultz defines just about everything President Obama has ever done as a defining moment.
All terrorists deserve death. Perhaps it is time for Americans, Europeans, and their media elite to reexamine their most glaring double standards.
Now that the Democrats have suddenly turned their backs on everything they believed in so deeply during the Bush administration and endorsed targeted political assassination, that opens up a big issue.
Have you ever seen another Afghani who dresses like Hamid Karzai?
Michael Rubin explains it succinctly in Commentary magazine:
All terrorists deserve death. Perhaps it is time for Americans, Europeans, and their media elite to reexamine their most glaring double standards: If Americans can kill a master terrorist targeting civilians then Israel too should be able to target Hamas leaders in Gaza, Damascus, Oslo, or Dubai, wherever they may be.
Friggin’ A, Ray.
In fact, if it were up to us the list would be broadened and include a few non-terrorists.
It would include the guy who did Joe Biden’s hair plugs, Nancy Pelosi’s botoxologist. The guy who’s responsible for Donald Trump’s comb-over. The guys who beat up the Giants’ fan in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. Hamid Karzai’s tailor. Whoever gives Janet Napolitano her testosterone injections. Whoever told Jay Carney he had a personality and should pursue a career in public relations. And finally, the fashion designer who always seems to make Michelle Obama’s ass look like the only thing in the room bigger than her husband’s ego.
The media has moved into full Obama hype and hyperbole. America’s most effeminate Commander In Chief is now being touted as a cross between General Patton and Chuck Norris.
The media has moved into full Obama hype and hyperbole. America’s most effeminate Commander In Chief is now being touted as a cross between General Patton and Chuck Norris.
Of course, we have to depend on a foreign newspaper like the Telegraph UK to point out the latest ludicrous comment:
Brave Barack the Ninja Warrior leaped from a burning helicopter, battled a great white shark and then skateboarded in to kill Osama Bin Laden in fierce hand-to-hand combat
There’s been a fair amount of — how shall I put it? — sucking up to President Barack Obama over the past week for his decision to send in the US Navy SEALs to kill Osama bin Laden. Certainly, it was a bold gamble that paid off richly and if it hadn’t it could have crippled his presidency. . . .
But the top prize for the most sycophancy towards Obama this week surely has to be awarded to Wendy Chamberlain, Middle East Institute president and former US ambassador to Pakistan, who had this to say on CNN:
But he made that decision to go without telling Pakistan and that took some real courage, as much courage as our Navy SEALs did in pulling off a near flawless operation.
Hmm. Think about that. Deciding not to tell the Pakistanis makes Obama as brave as one of the SEALs on the Geronimo mission? As brave as a man who rappels down a rope from a Black Hawk into a compound deep in Pakistan at the dead of night knowing that it is the hideout of a mass murderer who happens to be the world’s most wanted terrorist?
Well, maybe not that brave. But definitely brave enough to go on TV and claim credit for it.
Co-chair the Presidential Deficit Commission, appointed by Barack Obama, says the President’s budget proposal is inferior to Paul Ryan’s plan.
Next thing you know, the President will send a Navy Seal team after Erskine Bowles.
Bowles, a Democrat who co-chaired the Presidential Deficit Commission and was appointed by Barack Obama, says the President’s budget proposal falls short on several key goals. In fact, he says it’s inferior to Paul Ryan’s plan.
Bowles: It is $4 trillion, however, over 12 years. It is heavily back-end loaded, so when you compare it to the Ryan plan and to the Commission’s plan, which also has $4 trillion in savings, it is probably more like $2.5 trillion. And in fairness, the way it is setup, according to our analysis, it really doesn’t stabilize the debt, and the debt as a percentage of GDP gets up to around 77 percent and it never gets to primary balance, which is about a deficit-to-GDP ratio of around 3 percent.
Other than that, how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?
Good news! Prince Charles has flown into Washington, DC aboard his private jet to lecture Americans because we eat too much meat.
Good news! Prince Charles has flown into Washington, DC aboard his private jet to lecture Americans about our wasteful lifestyles. This time the heir to the British throne is upset because we eat too much meat.
Princes William and Harry are hopeful that the defective gene will skip their generation
Credit the Telegraph UK for the details:
America’s appetite for beef is jeopardising the world’s water supply, the Prince of Wales said during a visit to the US.
In a speech in Washington, the Prince said that the need for vast amounts of irrigation in industrialised food production was threatening to deplete reserves of the “magical substance we have taken for granted for so long”.
“For every pound of beef produced in the industrial system, it takes two thousand gallons of water,” he told the Future of Food conference at Georgetown University.
“That is a lot of water and there is plenty of evidence that the Earth cannot keep up with the demand.”
Americans eat more than 41kg of beef a year on average, according to the UN, almost twice that consumed by Britons and four times the international average.
Back off, bub. Or should we say Prince Bub. We don’t need your kind coming to this country telling us what to eat and what not to eat. That’s Michelle Obama’s job.
We don’t often find ourselves supporting the monarchy, but in this case we pray that Queen Elizabeth live forever.
To make things a bit more fair the Obama Administration has started looking into the possibility of instating a mileage tax.
It is said that only two things are certain in life. Those two things are death and taxes. This statement is not entirely true. Any number of Americans don’t pay taxes. We call the majority of those people Obama supporters.
To make things a bit more fair the Obama Administration has started looking into the possibility of instating a mileage tax.
Some cars will undoubtedly be exempt from Obama's mileage tax
The Hill drives home the point:
The Obama administration has floated a transportation authorization bill that would require the study and implementation of a plan to tax automobile drivers based on how many miles they drive.
The plan is a part of the administration’s Transportation Opportunities Act, an undated draft of which was obtained this week by Transportation Weekly.
The White House, however, said the bill is only an early draft that was not formally circulated within the administration.
“This is not an administration proposal,” White House spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said. “This is not a bill supported by the administration. This was an early working draft proposal that was never formally circulated within the administration, does not taken into account the advice of the president’s senior advisers, economic team or Cabinet officials, and does not represent the views of the president.”
News of the draft follows a March Congressional Budget Office report that supported the idea of taxing drivers based on miles driven.
We hope the Obama-bots won’t be too worried though. It seems entirely likely that a significant portion of the funds generated from this mileage tax could be used to provide bus passes.
Obama uses intelligence gained through a waterboarding he damned from a suspect still kept in a facility he vowed to close to send Special Forces to kill a man who’s a hero to many of the Muslims he vowed to reach out to.
We are now regaled with stories from the left wing propaganda machine telling us about our brave, young Commander In Chief and how he personally led the dangerous mission to get Osama Bin Laden.
Andrew Bolt puts it all in perspective in one very short sentence:
Nobel Peace Prize winner Barack Obama uses intelligence gained through a waterboarding he damned from a suspect still kept in a facility he vowed to close to send Special Forces to kill a man who’s a hero to many of the Muslims he vowed to reach out to. And he reaps the rewards.
If you’ve never read Andrew Bolt’s blog, try it.
He’s writes for the Melbourne Herald-Sun, but it’s a fascinating read not just because he covers so much American news, but because so much Australian news sounds so much like American news.
Obama had the American flag removed from the shot just moments before the TV cameras began rolling at his Osama Bin Laden Victory Tour 2011.
UPDATED UPDATE: Tapper has now said that he was saying that construction workers took the flag down at the end of the day. Certainly not what it sounded like he was saying, but we’ll take his word for it.
NOTE: Is this story correct or not? It appears debatable. Michelle Malkin says it’s not true, but Jake Tapper has not retracted. This leaves us with a very strange situation where a conservative is defending the President and a liberal reporter is dinging him. How about if we straddle the middle by saying take it with a grain of salt until we hear from Tapper.
ABC’s Jake Tapper was so surprised that he tweeted the news that team Obama had the American flag removed from the shot just moments before the TV cameras began rolling at his Osama Bin Laden Victory Tour 2011.
Can you imagine any other president removing an American flag from a site like Ground Zero?
OK, let us reword that. Can you imagine any president other than Jimmy Carter removing an American flag from a site like Ground Zero?
What excuse could there be? The old favorite: We didn’t want to enflame Muslim passions? Or maybe the President didn’t want to find himself in a situation where he’d have to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Or maybe …
In videos captured by Navy Seals, the Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden spent the last few years of his life holed up in the bedroom of a squalid, ramshackle “estate.”
The most feared man in the world ended his life looking and living like Howard Hughes.
It appears that Osama bin Laden spent the last few years of his life holed up in the bedroom of a squalid, ramshackle “estate.” In videos captured by Navy Seals, the Al Qaeda leader is seen wrapped in a blanket and wearing a ratty ski cap while watching himself on TV.
No word on whether he was wearing Kleenex boxes instead of shoes.
What’s that? Washington insiders say that Jay Carney is foundering in his job? But shouldn’t that make him the perfect spokesman for this administration?
What’s that? Washington insiders say that Jay Carney is foundering in his job? But shouldn’t that make him the perfect spokesman for this administration?
This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s ever seen Carney struggle to answer the simplest of questions. He doesn’t want to be there. He doesn’t want this job. He’s wondering what he got himself into. It’s painful to watch.
The Telegraph UK offers these insights:
Jay Carney looks as if he'd rather have hot pokers stuck in his eyes than be White House Press Secretary
There is increasing concern in Washington that Jay Carney, the new White House Press Secretary, isn’t up to the job. Even when faced with an innocuous question that requires only that he trot out the official line, he looks completely stunned, as if the questioner is Bob Woodward asking him about Deep Throat. He gathers himself, embarks on a stuttering reply, pauses for what seems like an eternity, then starts gabbling, tripping over his words, rephrasing what he’s just said, then looking plaintively back at the questioner as if to say, “How did I do? Was that okay? Or would you like me to try again?”
“I think he’s doing very badly,” says a political contact based in Washington. “And I’ve heard others say that he’s really struggling.”
This guy always looks as if someone dressed him up in his big brother’s clothes and pushed him out on stage against his will.
To Carney’s credit, though, he has accomplished something we would have thought impossible: He’s made us miss Robert Gibbs.
Here’s more proof – as if you really needed any – that Iran is home to more lunatics per capita than any other nation on the face of the earth.
This is one of those stories that sounds like it originated at The Onion, but it’s real.
Here’s more proof – as if you really needed any – that Iran is home to more lunatics per capita than any other nation on the face of the earth.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad maintains is grip on power, but not on reality
The Guardian UK has the details:
Close allies of Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have been accused of using supernatural powers to further his policies amid an increasingly bitter power struggle between him and the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being “magicians” and invoking djinns (spirits).
Ayandeh, an Iranian news website, described one of the arrested men, Abbas Ghaffari, as “a man with special skills in metaphysics and connections with the unknown worlds”.
The arrests come amid a growing rift between Ahmadinejad and Khamenei which has prompted several MPs to call for the president to be impeached.
These people have the ability to make nuclear weapons and they believe in genies. These two facts do not compute.
Alan Dershowitz appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Show with Col. Morris Davis, former chief prosecutor at Guantanamo, and Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times.
We always kind of had a soft spot for Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz. He’s liberal, but pragmatic, which confounds the hell out of most other liberals.
Dershowitz appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Show with Col. Morris Davis, former chief prosecutor at Guantanamo, and Nicholas Kristof of The New York Times.
Their two-to-one advantage did them absolutely no good as Dershowitz demolished every argument they made for withholding the Bin Laden death photos.
Dershowitz: The precedent this would establish for suppressing material because it might be offensive or might lead to this, it would give Muslim extremists veto about what we can read, what we can hear. It harks back to the [Muhammad] cartoon issues and other forms of censorship. We should not censor because if we publish it will offend the sensibilities of people who don’t share our values.
Is it just our prejudices speaking or is Obama rapidly dissipating every advantage he got out of the Bin Laden killing?
Tanzanian lunatics are crazier than your average lunatic. They actually believe their AIDS can be cured if they rape an albino.
Consider this story proof positive that America doesn’t have a complete monopoly on lunatics. They come in every shape, size, color and nationality.
That being said, we must say that Tanzanian lunatics are crazier than your average lunatic. They actually believe their AIDS can be cured if they rape an albino.
An estimated 150,000 albinos live in fear in Tanzania
Reuters has the bizarre, horrible story:
Hundreds of albinos are thought to have been killed for black magic purposes in Tanzania and albino girls are being raped because of a belief they offer a cure for AIDS, a Canadian rights group said on Thursday.
At least 63 albinos, including children, are known to have been killed, mostly in the remote northwest of the country.
“We believe there are hundreds and hundreds of killings in Tanzania, but only a small number are being reported to the police,” Peter Ash, founder and director of Under The Same Sun (UTSS), told Reuters.
“There is belief that if you have relations with a girl with albinism, you will cure AIDS. So there are many girls with albinism who are being raped in this country because of this belief, which is a false belief.”
Around 1.4 million Tanzanians among a population of 40.7 million have the HIV virus that leads to AIDS.
Albino hunters kill their victims and harvest their blood, hair, genitals and other body parts for potions that witchdoctors say bring luck in love, life and business.
“(It is believed) a person with albinism is a curse. They are from the devil, they are not human, they do not die, they simply disappear,” said Ash.
This word just in: Edgar Winter has just cancelled his Tanzania Tour 2011.
Damn those unpatriotic college kids. Why are they out partying in Fort Lauderdale when they should be back in school stimulating the economy?
In the past the media has blamed the weather, the Japanese tsunami, Republican policies and everything else they can think of, so Reuters economic reporters are now forced to get really creative in an attempt to blame the on-going “unexpected” unemployment numbers on anything but Obamanomics.
We don't know if the economy's getting stimulated, but we are
But Reuters’ latest excuse is laughable:
New U.S. claims for unemployment aid unexpectedly rose last week to touch their highest level in eight months, pushed up by factors ranging from spring break layoffs to the introduction of an emergency benefits program, a government report showed on Thursday.
Damn those unpatriotic college kids. Why are they out partying in Fort Lauderdale when they should be back in school stimulating the economy?

CBS News has the less than newsworthy story:
We interrupt IHateTheMedia.com for this breaking news: President Obama will make his weekly appearance on 60 Minutes Sunday night at 7:00/6:00 Central
President Obama has agreed to sit down with “60 Minutes” correspondent Steve Kroft for his first and only interview since the killing of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.
The interview, to be conducted in the White House Wednesday, will be broadcast on “60 Minutes” this Sunday, May 8 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
The president announced late last Sunday that the al Qaeda leader was killed during a raid at a compound in Abbottabad, which is close to Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad.
President Obama agreed to sit down with Steve Kroft? They say that like there was any doubt that would appear. C’mon, Barack Obama would jump in front of a train if there was a camera on the tracks.
This guy’s been on 60 Minutes more than Morely Safer and Mike Wallace combined. When he leaves the Oval Office, he should join the program’s anchor team so he can interview himself every week.
He agreed to sit down with Steve Kroft. Yeah, right. Like they had to waterboard him to get him to cooperate.
Please allow us to summarize what NBC “newsman” David Gregory says in about the death of Osama Bin Laden this short clip.
NBC’s David Gregory is a schmuck. A liberal schmuck. But we repeat ourselves.
Please allow us to summarize what the NBC “newsman” says in about the death of Osama Bin Laden this short clip:
“Unlike the evil right wing cowboy George W. Bush, the munificent Barack Obama understands that the American people still feel vulnerable and that we still wanted justice.”
Watch it for yourself and tell us if you think we’ve exaggerated what he said.
Issa grilled – absolutely grilled – Eric Holder about the Justice Department’s Operation Fast and Furious and Project Gunrunner.
Sparks flew between Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Attorney General Eric Holder Wednesday during a Judiciary Committee hearing. And we don’t mean the kind of sparks that fly between Barney Frank and random cabana boys.
Issa grilled – absolutely grilled – Holder about the Justice Department’s Operation Fast and Furious and Project Gunrunner. Holder tap danced like Mr. Bojangles. He would have gotten 9s on Dancing With The Stars.
Issa is Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and has subpoenaed documents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) relating to the highly controversial “Project Gunrunner.”
Holder claims he knew nothing about it. He claims his top assistant knew nothing about it. He also seems to be remarkably uninterested.
Unless we’re mistaken, Issa isn’t going to let this one go.
