Republicans want to give you control of GM

GM stock may not be worth the paper it's printed on, but it's better off in your hands than in the government's
GM stock may not be worth the paper it's printed on, but it's better off in your hands than in the government's

Two Republican senators, Lamar Alexander and Robert Bennett, want the government to give its stake in General Motors to American taxpayers. The plan makes so much sense that it’s almost impossible to believe it was generated in Washington, DC.

Under the plan, the government would divvy up its newly-minted General Motors shares among the 154 million Americans who pay federal taxes. If you don’t pay taxes, you don’t get the stock. The senators said taxpayers financed the government’s $60 billion investment in GM, so they deserve to own the stock.

“Those shares might not be worth much now, but put them away and one day they might contribute something toward a college education,” Alexander said. “GM’s 610 million shares were only worth 75 cents just before bankruptcy, but they were worth $40 dollars per share two years ago.”

“This bill would be a tough one for Democrats to oppose,” one aide observed. “They would essentially say that they would rather have the government run and own an auto company than the American people.”

That poor deluded aide. Let us give you the Democrat response before they even make it:

“This outrageous plan is typical of good old boy Republican politics. It discriminates against the poor, people of color and hard-working undocumented aliens. Blah-blah-blah.”

Joe Biden endorses New York governor,
then un-endorses him

David Patterson is blind, but he's not deaf. He would have sworn he heard Joe Biden's endorsement.
David Patterson is blind, but he's not deaf. He would have sworn he heard Joe Biden's endorsement.

Joe Biden gushed about New York Governor David Patterson at a Democrat fundraiser on Tuesday.

“Your once and future governor of the state of New York has been extremely generous to Barack and me and has been a major part of us trying to put this economy back together.”

Everyone – and we mean everyone – interpreted the Veep’s words as a strong endorsement for the highly unpopular governor. However, Democrat New York state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is handily ahead of Patterson in all the polls.

When Biden realized he’d backed a loser, he un-gushed. Why, much to everyone’s surprise, Biden said his words were not an endorsement.

“It was a statement of friendship and admiration for the governor,” his spokesman insisted, “and was not intended as a political statement.”

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs wanted nothing to do with the controversy.

“I have not seen the remarks,” he ducked. “But let me go see if I can find that and see what the context is.”

The context is simple: Joe Biden makes Dan Quayle look like Albert Einstein.

University of Idaho pays part time “Inspiration Officer” $12,500 per month. No wonder they call their team “The Vandals”

A trip to Inspiration Point would have the University of Idaho $12,500 per month
A trip to Inspiration Point would have the University of Idaho $12,500 per month

These are tough times at the University of Idaho. They’ve had to slash their annual operating budget by $3.8 million. They’re cutting classes, raising student fees, and probably ordering fewer paper clips.

But there was one line item in the budget that was so invaluable, so indispensable, that the U of I administration decided it could neither be cut nor eliminated: The Chief Inspiration Officer.

Magaly Rodriguez is apparently so damn inspirational that the university is paying her $12,500 a month to be…well…inspirational. And it’s not even a full-time job. Rodriguez only spends two weeks per month in lovely Moscow, Idaho. Better yet for her, her contract dictates that she spend anywhere from just zero to 10 days there.

Some faculty are upset that the university is wasting money on inspiration at the same time its being forced to slash other expenses. But University Provost says Rodriguez has been worth every damn penny and likened going to her sessions to “being sedated.” Rodriguez says she is reshaping their culture by building “global peacemaking communities” (she claims to have coined the term “peacemaking”).

$12,500 per month for a part time job. Don’t know about you, but we’re feeling inspired to switch careers.

We’re here! We’re queer! We’re in kindergarten?

"The New Girl" introduces kindergarten children to the concept of homosexuality.
"The New Girl" introduces kindergarten children to the concept of homosexuality.

Brace yourself, Buckeroo. The Alameda County Board of Education has approved a mandatory gay education program for children from kindergarten through fifth grade.

The program is officially titled “LGBT Lesson #9. It’s probably unnecessary to mention that the school district is in California.

Beginning next year, Alameda’s innocent tykes will begin learning about “tolerance” for the gay lifestyle. Unbelievably, parents cannot opt out of lessons. Not even if the program violates their religious beliefs.

“We are not telling anyone what to think,” school district trustee Tracy Jensen said with a completely straight face. “We are letting children know that gay people exist and they deserve to be treated with respect, regardless of whether or not you believe that homosexuality is acceptable.”

"Tango Makes Three," the perfect book to educate second graders about two daddies.
"Tango Makes Three," the perfect book to educate second graders about two daddies.

“Five year old kids aren’t ready to think on their own about sexuality, and their families’ values will be dismissed,” Karen England criticized. “That’s not an education in critical thinking. It’s social activism.”

Kindergarten kids will be read a book called “The New Girl…And Me.” It’s about a new girl who makes friends with another girl.

First graders will read a book called “Who Is In A Family?” which explores alternate types of families. “Robin’s family,” the book says “is made up of her dad, Clifford, her dad’s partner, Henry, and Robin’s cat, Sassy.”

Second graders will tackle “And Tango Makes Three,” a book about two gay penguins that raise  a chick named Tango. The kids will learn that Roy and Silo are “a little bit different” and that “Tango was the very first penguin in the zoo to have two daddies.”

Third graders will watch a film called “That’s a Family,” featuring some homosexual couples and some token traditional families.

We’re not sure what year the student will learn about Republicans lynching gay black men in the White House Rose Garden, but we wouldn’t be surprised if that’s part of the curriculum, too. Or soon will be.

“HUNG FU.” Is this the worst headline ever? The best headline ever? Or both?

hung_fu

In a rapidly changing world, there’s always one thing you can count on: Remarkably graphic, if not always tasteful, headlines from the New York Post.

For example, they announced the possibly accidental, possible suicide, possible homicide death of actor David Carridine with the headline “Hung Fu.”

On one hand, we can say it’s incredibly tasteless.

On the other hand, the odds of a guy accidentally hanging himself while performing auto-erotic asphyxiation in a town called Bangkok while making a movie called “Stretch” would be unbelievable if someone made it up.

It’s the tragic-comic trifecta.

Gordon Brown calls Omaha Beach, “Obama Beach.” Gaffe or message to Barack?

In his speech at Normandy today, U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown called the site of the D-Day invasion “Obama Beach” instead of Omaha Beach. Was it an honest mistake? Or was it a not-so-subliminal plea to the American president to storm the beaches once again to rescue him from evil conservatives who are about to topple him from power?

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is talking. Are you listening, Arnold?

Mitch Daniels isn’t a riveting speaker. He’s short. And he has a bad comb over. But we understand why the people of Indiana have elected him governor twice.

“Despite the terrible national economy, Indiana remains in vastly better shape than most states and any of our neighbors. We have over a billion dollars in reserves and a triple A credit rating. Anywhere else, any reserves are long gone. They’re slashing education by as much as ten to fifteen percent. They’re releasing convicts from prison early. And worst of all, when families are struggling, they’re raising taxes.”

“There’s only one reason we are so different – because we have held government spending down to a level of our income. But if we lose our sense of discipline now, in no time we’ll look just like Michigan or Illinois or, heaven forbid, California.”

He sums it all up by saying, “Add a dollar, cut a dollar. And no tax increases.”

There’s no question which party he belongs to, is there?

Thousands of dead people voting in Minnesota?

The dead may be making elections even livelier in Minnesota
The dead may be making elections even livelier in Minnesota

As many as 2,812 dead people may have voted in Minnesota. Is it human error or fraud?

A conservative advocacy group says the problem is that the Minnesota Secretary of State neglects to purge the names of dead people from the voter rolls.

For example, Julie Webster died in 2006, but voter records show that she voted two years later on Nov. 4, 2008. Her husband Henry Webster said, “I’m here to tell you, there’s no malice on my end. (Election officials and I) had a two-way conversation that my wife had died and that she won’t be coming in. So I wrote deceased.”

An election worker, it appears, tallied the late Mrs. Webster as a voter who showed up and cast a ballot.

Deputy Secretary of State Jim Gelbmann says the problem should be blamed on mistakes, not fraud.

“I would venture—put my reputation on—the fact that there are very few, if any, people impersonating dead people,” he insisted. “You’re going to have human error. We’re doing our best to correct that human error.”

We vote for fraud. In fact, we voted for it five times.

Pissed-Off Progressive of the Day #2: John Murtha

Make no mistake about it, John Murtha is very sensitive about being corrupt. Or being caught at being corrupt. Or being questioned about being corrupt. Or doing business with a corrupt company. Or even hearing the word corrupt uttered in his presence.

Kuchera Defense Systems is currently being investigated for fraud. What’s Murtha’s connection? Well, this reporter tries to find out and gets nothing but the brunt of Murtha’s anger.

We would say Murtha is a little thin skinned, but the words “thin” and “John Murtha” should never be used in the same sentence.

Pissed-Off Progressive of the Day: Nancy Pelosi

A little advice for reporters: Don’t bother asking Speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi about the CIA anymore.

She’s finished lying talking about those lying liars. She’s lied said all she’s going to lie say. And that’s that.

Queen Nancy hath lied spoken.

That idiot George Bush read ten times more books than that genius Barack Obama

Since President Obama is only reading it at an average of 6 pages per day, we can't call Netherland one of those novels that you can't put down.
Since President Obama is only reading it at an average of 6 pages per day, we can't call Netherland one of those novels that you can't put down.

When asked what he was currently reading by a BBC interviewer on Tuesday, President Obama named Joseph O’Neill’s “Netherland.”

Really? Obama also said he began reading the 270-page novel back in April. That’s only about six pages per day.

George Bush, on the other hand, was well-known as a voracious reader and polished off more than 100 books per year. At Obama’s current pace, he’ll only complete about 10 books this year.

In President Obama’s defense, it takes far longer to read a book when it’s on a Teleprompter.

Maybe the problem is that President Obama just isn’t very good at math

Is it possible that President Obama failed math? That would answer a lot of questions.
Is it possible that President Obama failed math? That would answer a lot of questions.

We heard a joke today. It’s a sick joke, but it goes to prove a point. It goes like this:

Rahm Emanuel heard about the Brazilian plane crash, ran into the Oval Office and said, “Mr. President, we just lost 200 Brazilians.”

Obama looks concerned and says, “How many trillion in a brazillion?”

Point is, this guy proves over and over that he has no grasp of basic math.

Obviously, the projected deficits prove that trillions are meaningless to him. But now it appears that he has no grasp of millions, either.

As it was reported in the New York Times, “In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as ‘one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.’”

“’And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world,’ Mr. Obama said.”

That’s nonsense. According to NationMaster.com, the United States ranks just 34th in the world with approximately 6,000,000 Muslims. That puts us right behind tiny nations like Tajikistan, Burkina Faso, Kazakhstan, Azerbiajan, and the President’s own Kenya. Many authorities think that 6,000,000 number is vastly inflated.

Obviously, Obama has trouble with complex numbers. He’s baffled by millions, billions and trillions. In fact, the only number he’s really concerned with is The One.

And the score at the end of three innings: British Press 2, Robert Gibbs 1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLeVuDn4feU

Smarmy, condescending Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs may want to reconsider his recent attacks on the British Press. Because these guys kick butt and take names. Especially if the name is Gibbs.

Just take a look at this scathing column by James Delinpole of the Telegraph UK:

Memo to Obama attack dog Robert Gibbs: stop pooping on our lawn

Memo to US Press secetary Robert Gibbs

1. Congratulations. Your presidential regime has managed to secure the most supine, slobbering, spineless, unquestioning media coverage since Enver Hoxha’s Albania. A report last month by the Center for Media and Public Affairs said Obama has received more coverage than his two predecessors combined. On ABC, CBS and NBC news the majority of evaluations – 58 per cent – have been favourable. (Compare GW Bush – 33 per cent; Bill Clinton 44 per cent – in first 50 days of office). More importantly, you have Pravda. Yes, no less than 73 per cent of all evaluative comments in your chief propaganda organ – aka The New York Times – have been favourable to Obama.

2. Sure your congenitally libtard Mainstream Media were probably biased that way anyway, but you have played your part. Your combative style – which led you to dismiss the entire British print media just now in one glib, sneering phrase – has earned you the nickname “The Enforcer.” You have a reputation for coming down hard on any media outlet which doesn’t follow your approved version of reality. “I work the referee a little bit,” as you once put it. (A reference, perhaps, to when you played goalkeeper for your college football team).

3. If you are going to make clever-sounding football references displaying your rich understanding of the British press, try to get your terminology right. We call it the “Champions League.” Not the “Champions League cup.”

4. That’s only the beginning of your problems, matey. Your treatment not just of the British media but of Britain generally smacks of a risible ineptitude. First, you let President Obama send back the Winston Churchill bust. Then, you insult our visiting prime minister with a dismally low-key reception (worthy of a minor African head of state, not your closest and most loyal ally) and shoddy gifts (those DVDs). Then you compound the insult by having one of your monkeys declare, Chicago-politics-style, “”There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.” OK so we know Obama’s not much interested in foreign affairs and has a special loathing for Britain because it roughed up his Kenyan granddad during the Mau Mau insurrection. But don’t you realise, that one of your jobs as his press secretary is to make out like he loves us so much even his underpants have a union flag on them?

5. Insulting the British print media. Big mistake. We know we’re not angels. We know we can go over the top sometimes. But unfortunately that’s a much bigger problem for you than it is for us. You see, while a lot of your mainstream media will hold fire on stories which they think may reflect poorly on your wondrous Obamamessiah – what his half-brother has been up to, say – we have fewer qualms about telling it like it is. So far, you’ve had a pretty easy ride. The Obama Kool Aid has proved almost as popular beverage in Britain as it is in the US. But just you wait till we start showing our teeth.

6. A lot of Americans know this. They appreciate our irreverence. They enjoy our frank criticisms of all the myriad areas where Obama is getting it so badly wrong – everything from his disastrous cap and trade measures, to his brutal treatment of Chrysler dealerships which didn’t support him, to his pork barrelling, to his failure to do anything that looks remotely like rescuing the US economy. That’s why they come to read us online: because they can and there’s nothing you can do to stop them.

7. We had a guy just like you over here once. Guy named Alastair Campbell. Did for our now heavily discredited prime minister Tony Blair what you do for Obama: a little light press bullying; professional turd polishing; that kind of thing. We hated Alastair Campbell, really loathed him. But he got away with bullying us because in those days we didn’t know any better. We were still going through this sort of dumb-cattle phase where we still had some vestigial respect for politicians and trust that they knew what they were doing.

8. But we don’t respect politicians any more. Not our politicians, and not yours either. Imagine how this new strain of irreverence bordering on utter contempt is going to affect our reporting of political affairs. Actually, you’ve no need to imagine. Just read some of our Telegraph blogs.

Our congratulations to Robert Gibbs, the first press secretary capable of pissing off the press of our closest ally.

Fatheads issue fatwah: Bangladeshi woman caned 39 times for “lying” about child’s father

This isn't just another culture, it's another planet.
This isn't just another culture, it's another planet.

This is one of those items you rarely read in the biased liberal media because it calls into question their devotion to moral relativism.

A 22-year old woman is fighting for her life after being caned 39 times in Bangladesh.

Police chief Moshiur Rahman said the 22-year-old unmarried woman angered Islamic clerics by telling friends that a neighbor was the father of her six-year old son.

When she and the alleged father appeared before a Islamic court, the man denied the charge.

“He held a Koran in one hand and swore to the village clerics that he was not the father of the boy. The village court found him not guilty,” Rahman said. “They also issued a fatwa that the woman should be caned 39 times for lying.”

Half the players in the NBA immediately called their attorneys and told them to try “the Bangladeshi defense.”

Harry Reid is completely ignorant, wants to remain completely ignorant, and is remarkably proud of his complete ignorance

Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid put on a virtuoso performance yesterday when asked about Sonia Sotomayor’s academic and professional qualifications to be on the Supreme Court.

“Everyone in America, I want them to understand that we have the whole package here,” Reid said. “If that wasn’t enough, her background is very significant — we could not have anyone better qualified.”

“I understand that during her career, she’s written hundreds and hundreds of opinions,” he continued. “I haven’t read a single one of them, and if I’m fortunate before we end this, I won’t have to read one of them.”

If the rest of us are fortunate, the voters of Nevada will send this guy off to represent Sun City in the next election.

Bush tells reporter “United States is one of the largest Christian nations in the world”

Religious zealot George Bush thinks America is a Christian nation.
Religious zealot George Bush thinks America is a Christian nation.

That idiot, former President George Bush, showed his total disregard for the separation of church and state today when he told a French reporter that the United States was a Christian nation.

Here’s how the New York Times reported it:

“In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Bush noted that the United States also could be considered as ‘one of the largest Christian countries in the world.’”

“’And one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Christian Americans, we’d be one of the largest Christian countries in the world,’ Mr. Bush said.”

Shocking, isn’t it. Except for one thing. We switched two words in the New York Times story. We substituted “Bush” for “Obama” and “Christian” for “Muslim.”

Even though the statement we attributed to Bush would have been true, just imagine the leftist howls of protest about the separation of church and state if he had actually said it.

Yet, instead of condemning Obama’s demonstrably false statement as a violation of church and state, the liberal media merely quibbles about his numbers.

In the words of King Barack, “l’État, c’est moi.” And in the words of the press, “l’État, c’est il.”

Conservative ex-congressman Tom Tancredo tells CNN Sotomayor a member of “Latino KKK”

Appearing on CNN, former Congressman Tom Tancredo, a Colorado Republican, attacked Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor for saying wise Latinas make better decisions than white men.

Horrified by Sotomayor’s membership in an “immigrants’ rights group” called La Raza (Translation: “The Race”), Tancredo called it “a Latino KKK without the hoods or the nooses.”

Rick Sanchez, the CNN host who’s never met a left wing extremist he doesn’t love, was horrified by Tancredo’s assertion.

We were horrified when we realized we were watching CNN.

Investors Business Daily again demonstrates the logic that the biased liberal media won’t.

“…It was thought that Chukchi’s waters northwest of Alaska’s landmass held 30 billion cubic feet of natural gas.”

“Today, Science magazine reports that the U.S. Geological Survey now finds it holds more than anyone thought — 1.6 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered gas, or 30% of the world’s supply and 83 billion barrels of undiscovered oil, 4% of the global conventional resources.
That’s enough U.S. energy to achieve self-sufficiency and never worry about it as a national security question again.”

Energy Secretary comes up with stupidest idea in the history of human thought

We're feeling cooler already. How 'bout you?
We're feeling cooler already. How 'bout you?

We’ve been told that US Energy Secretary Steven Chu, is a genius. An absolute genius. The smartest man alive other than President Obama.

Chu’s latest brainstorm would have us combat global warming by painting everything white – roofs, roads, sidewalks, everything gets a coat of white paint.

Unfortunately, the Sydney Daily Telegraph’s Tim Blair did the math on this brilliant strategy:

The total area of the U.S. (50 states + D.C.) equals 9,826,630 km^2.

According to a 2004 study by the U.S. Geophysical Union, all constructed so-called “impervious surfaces” (buildings, roads, parking lots, roofs, etc.) in the USA total a combined 112,610 km^2. Which is a bit less than the total area of Ohio, a bit more than Virginia.

That means we’ve got about 1.14% for Dr. Chu to paint.

That should make a big difference.

This isn’t Chu’s idea. It was actually proposed last year by Hashem Akbari, a scientist based at the prestigious Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California.

Eco wackos assume the entire world looks like Manhattan. As anyone who’s ever flown over the country knows, it’s mostly empty. 98.86% empty, in fact.

Blair points out that Chu accentuated his hypocrisy by travelling to and from the meeting in a jet-black SUV.

Someone needs to find out if Chu owns stock in a paint company.

Jokin’ Joe Biden makes crack about Obama’s teleprompter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuGi2bMwODs Vice President Biden was speaking at the Air Force Academy graduation recently when the wind took out his teleprompter. Jokin’ Joe then makes a crack at his boss’ expense: “What am I gonna tell the president when I tell him his Teleprompter is broken? What will he do then?” Hilarity ensues.

Perhaps even funnier is when the Fox reporter then segues from “Plugs” Biden to a story about the gene that is linked to baldness, saying it could put the Hair Club for Men out of business.

Coincidence?

Obama’s ping pong Pyongyang foreign policy

Time to start apologizing to the North Koreans, President Obama.

If you ask what the Obama administration’s policy on North Korea is, you have to then ask another question: What day of the week is it? Because the policy seems to change daily.

Ping: Back in April, when Pyongyang tested its first long-range missile, the President deemed North Korea a “regional threat.”

Pong: After the North Koreans’ latest missile test last week, he called them a global threat.

Ping: National security adviser James Jones said last week that the rogue nation poses no imminent threat to the US.

Pong: Later in the week, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, “The United States will not accept North Korea as a nuclear-armed state…North Korea’s nuclear program and actions constitute a threat to regional peace and security. We unequivocally reaffirm our commitment to the defense of our allies in the region.”

Ping: On Friday, Gates dialed back the rhetoric and said, “I don’t think that anybody in the [Obama] administration thinks there is a crisis.”

The Obama administration should take note that no one beats the Asians when it comes to ping pong.
