Sean Penn always has a scowl on his face. But he wants a president who smiles. Want proof that Sean Penn is a lunatic? He gives you all the evidence you need in a piece he wrote for the Huffington Post on Friday.
I know President Chavez well. Whether or not one agrees with all his policies, what is certainly true of Chavez is that he is a warm and friendly man with a robust sense of humor (who daily risks his own life for his country in ways Dick Cheney could never imagine). To treat such a man coldly is akin to spitting on him. As a country we’ve done enough of that. Say what you will, but it has only resulted in the self-celebration of our smirking spitters, while costing us international respect, American lives, and left wounds in the hands of our children’s future. The Cheneys, down to the O’Reillys and Hannitys and Limbaughs, effectively hate the principles upon which we were founded. They are among the greatest cowards in all of American history. I applaud an American President who’s tough enough…to smile.
Oh, if only Barack Obama had been president back before the Iraq war. He could have smiled at Penn’s other buddy, Saddam Hussein.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was testifying in Congress yesterday. It wasn’t pretty.
When long-time conservative California Congressman Dana Rohrabacher asked her about former Vice President Dick Cheney’s request to release additional CIA interrogation documents, Hillary tried to deflect the question by saying, “I don’t find him to be a particularly reliable source of information.”
Rohrabacher jumped on her like a bulldog on a bone. It was a thing of beauty. What Rohrabacher did, not Hillary.
“Mademe Secretary, I asked you a specific question…we’re not asking your opinion of Dick Cheney…you want to maintain your credibility with us, what is your opinion on the release of those documents”
The woman didn’t answer, wouldn’t answer, couldn’t answer, all of the above.
Our one sentence review: Like all Democrats, the ladies of Grey Gardens seemed out of touch with reality, were unconcerned with budgeting and spent beyond their means until they were flat broke and others had to take care of them.
George Carlin monologue on the environment, environmentalists, and saving the planet.
George Carlin may be gone, but his brilliant monologues will live forever at YouTube. Here’s the George Carlin monologue on the environment, environmentalists, and saving the planet. Ahhh, we miss you, George.
WARNING: It’s a George Carlin video, so this clip is filled with words and thoughts that may be offensive to many.
President Obama demonstrating how easy it is to do stuff with one hand tied behind his back. “I’m sure that sometimes it seems as if…we’re operating with one hand tied behind our back, or that those who would argue for a higher standard are naïve,” said President Obama to an audience of CIA spooks at Langley.
The reason for Obama’s appearance at CIA headquarters was to explain his release of OLC memos that tell terrorists exactly how to train against U.S. interrogation methods.
You may be wondering, how will we defeat jihadists now that they know how far we’re willing to go to extract information? Better technology? Better weapons? An army of lawyers armed with lawsuits?
Here’s how Obama explained his reason for releasing the OLC memos and how he plans to wage the War on Terror, or whatever it’s called now:
“I believe that our nation is stronger and more secure when we deploy the full measure of both our power and the power of our values –- including the rule of law.”
Bask for a moment in the power of our values. It sure put a quick stop to those Somali pirates, didn’t it?
Obamanomics 101: Even if every citizen paid the government every cent of income, we still couldn’t cover the projected deficit for one year. But don’t worry, only the rich are paying taxes. Forbes.com points out that even “if the government increased the top tax rate from the current rate of 35% to 100% (yes, that’s right 100%), it would only collect an extra $400 billion this year. In other words, confiscating all the income that is currently taxed at 35% would not raise enough revenue to cover any of the annual deficits projected in the next 10 years.”
If this is hope, where’s the change? Why bother trying to save any money at all? The Feds are printing new money faster than all of us together can earn it. (Though not as fast as Congress can spend it.)
We say, enjoy it now. Do what the politicians do and blow it on your own special interests. Buy a boat. Name a building after yourself. Rack up your credit cards like there’s no tomorrow. Then vote yourself a raise.
Let’s subtitle this story “The extremist who was missing an extremity.”
This genius Afghani jihadist crammed his artificial leg full of explosives, then detonated it inside a provincial governor’s compound. The good news is that this suicide bomber truly was a suicide bomber, because he was the only one to die in the explosion.
Here are more hilarious details from Afghanistan:
The bomber hobbled into the heavily guarded compound of the governor in the western city of Herat and exploded his bombs after police fired at him, deputy provincial police chief Delawar Shah Delawar said.
“Today a suicide attacker, a disabled man who placed his bombs in his artificial leg, was able to enter the governor’s compound. He exploded himself after our police fired at him,” he said.
The report continues:
Chief Delawar said intelligence reports tipped off authorities about a possible suicide attack on the compound, which houses the provincial governor and other government entities.
The blast took place about 500m from the governor’s office.
The explosion shattered windows and scattered body parts of the attacker, including shards of his artificial leg, an AFP reporter said.
In honor of this peglegged lunatic, we present you with ZZ Top’s big hit “Legs.” On one hand, it features a scantily-clad Carmen Electra dancing, which should horrify all good jihadists. On the other hand, the two bearded members of ZZ Top look as if they should be hiding in a cave with Osama bin Laden, which should mollify them.
We take great pleasure in thinking about how conflicted IslamoFascists will be when they watch the video.
Reinout Oerlemans. Why would a nice Dutch man like you inflict Nadya Suleman on the rest of the world?
Nadya Suleman says she’s landed a reality show deal. Or a documentary deal. Or maybe she hasn’t.
“Yes, it is official,” Suleman said. “I’m going to be doing a show, but it’s not a reality show. What I’m doing with this TV show is basically creating documentaries about the lives of my children. It’s going to be an ongoing thing, and it will follow them from now until they are 18. It’s being done by Eyeworks. They’re in the UK. It will air in the UK and then we’ll see if the US is interested.”
Unfortunately, Nadya may have jumped the gun here. No European network has agreed to carry the show and even Eyeworks disputes that it’s reached an agreement.
“At this time we are in active negotiations with Nadya and her attorney for an unscripted format following the life of Nadya and her children,” said Eyeworks CEO Reinout Oerlemans. “Nadya’s story is a unique and exciting one that needs to be told in the right manner…We are confident that we are the right party to tell their story around the world.”
Shephard Smith probably wishes he could take back an exchange he had yesterday on Fox News. The anchor got, shall we say, a little heated during a discussion with Trace Gallagher and Andrew Napolitano.
He said, and we quote, “We are America! I don’t give a rat’s ass if it helps! We are America! We do not f*cking torture!”
Immediately after the outburst, Shep got very quiet. We imagine his director must have been screaming some equally color language into his earpiece.
We have one question for you, Mr. Smith. If torture is not allowed in America, how does Keith Olbermann stay on the air?
GE shareholders gather outside MSNBC's headquarters. Keith Olbermann cowers in fear inside.
Anger erupted at GE’s annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday. “The crowd was angry with MSNBC because of its leftward tilt,” one person observed. “Some former employees said they were embarrassed by it.”
The complaints came hot and heavy. During the question-and-answer period, shareholders repeatedly asked executives about political views expressed on MSNBC and CNBC.
They were pissed about the report that GE honcho Jeff Immelt and NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker reportedly held a dinner meeting at which they told top CNBC executives and and on-air talent to take it easy on President Obama.
They were steamed that MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann didn’t challenge of lunatic Janeane Garofalo’s lunatic ramblings in an interview last week.
It went on and on. The angry questioners refused to be silenced. GE finally resorted to shutting off their microphones, which angered them even more.
“My biggest surprise was the open hostility to MSNBC,” noted one shareholder. “It was noticeable and loud. I don’t remember any of this going on last year.”
A few weeks ago, President Obama told a group of executives, “My administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”
Looks like President Obama was right about the pitchforks. But this isn’t quite the way he had envisioned them being used.

UPDATE: AUDIO TRACK OF CROWD BOOS WHEN GE CEO’S DEFENDS MSNBC
“O’Reilly Factor” producer Jesse Watters attended Wednesday’s annual GE shareholder meeting as both a GE shareholder and producer of “The O’ReillyFactor.”
He asked asked GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt if Janeane Garofalo’s comments on MSNBC qualified as hate speech.
“On April 27th I will begin a fast of water only in solidarity with the people of Darfur and as a personal expression of outrage at a world that is somehow able to stand by and watch innocent men, women and children needlessly die of starvation, thirst and disease.”
We’re surprised to learn Farrow’s beginning a hunger strike. But only because we thought she’d always been on one.
If the caterpillar torture technique didn't work, inhumane American interrogators were prepared to move on to the dreaded ladybug torture.
Remember how the media was so upset about the infamous “panties on the head” torture technique employed at Abu Ghraib? Well, now ABC News has it collective (and collectivist) panties in a wad about a completely different, but equally wimpy torture technique.
“Tonight, secret memos,” ABC News’ Charles Gibson intoned, “new documents reveal in vivid detail just how far the Bush administration went in interrogating terror suspects, using insects, confinement boxes, water-boards and more.”
“Even some congressional officials who had the highest security clearances were surprised by some of the details today,” George Stephanopoulos added, “especially that detail about the fact that (Abu) Zubayda was tortured with an insect in a confinement box.”
Ahhh, but ABC left out one important detail.
“In the case of al-Qaeda figure Abu Zubaydah, who feared insects,” Pete Williams noted on NBC News, “interrogators were given permission to put a harmless one like a caterpillar in a box in which he was confined, but that technique was never used.”
Ironic, isn’t it, that vermin should be afraid of insects.
We'd hide our faces, too, if we were as corrupt as California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein
California Democrat Senator Diane Feinstein was wealthy when she came to the senate. And thanks to the way she’s blatantly directed federal funds to her husband’s many businesses, she’s become far wealthier.
Most of the media buries this story as deeply as they buried her past corruption. But here’s how the Washington Times and Fox News describe her latest personal money grab:
On the day the new Congress convened this year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation to route $25 billion in taxpayer money to a government agency that had just awarded her husband’s real estate firm a lucrative contract to sell foreclosed properties at compensation rates higher than the industry norms, the Washington Times reported on Tuesday. When didn't Bobby Jindal do anything illegal and when didn't he do it. The AP demands to know.
The libs must be worried about Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. They sent the attack dog Associated Press out to do a hit piece about the popular Republican’s travel expenses.
Carrie Prejean, the California beauty who would have won the Miss USA title had it not been for the militant gay egomaniac Perez Hilton, showed up on Neil Cavuto’s Fox program on Tuesday.
She was fabulous. Warm. Gracious. Intelligent. Well-spoken. Amazingly, she appears to genuinely hold no ill will toward Perez Hilton. And she seems to have all the right points of view to qualify for a job at Fox News.
Here’s one brief exchange between Cavuto and Parjean.
Cavuto: (wondering how she would have answered the question posed to Miss Arizona) What do you think of the bailouts? Carrie: I don’t feel that taxpayers’ money should be used for bailing out companies. I don’t. Do I agree that they should be used for welfare? No. I don’t.
But then Cavuto got the heart of the matter – Prejean’s plans for the future:
Cavuto: What do you want to be? Carrie: You know, I’m not sure. I’m continuing my modeling career and I’m not sure how far that’s going to lead me. Maybe get into politics, you never know. Cavuto: You know, half of ‘em want to get into TV news. Carrie: No, I don’t think I want to get into that. Definitely not. Maybe motivational speaking. Cavuto: (Whistles) Whew. Breathe a sigh of relief there. OK, good. Because I don’t need the competition. I just want to avoid that. Carrie: I know.
Carrie Prejean. Smarter than Perez Hilton. More attractive than Paris Hilton. And vice versa, too.
You’ve read a lot about waterboarding. You’ve heard a lot about waterboarding. But have you ever seen someone actually waterboarded?
We hadn’t until we saw this video. Playboy reporter Mike Guy got the unenviable assignment to experience waterboarding personally, which probably makes him the first guy who ever considered working for Playboy to be torture.
Turns out waterboarding is nothing like we expected and it’s definitely nothing like tough talking Mike Guy expected.
Republic Rep. Peter King appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday and said some things that are sure to land him in hot water with the Obama administration. And Muslim extremists, too.
“Janet Napolitano testified before the Homeland Security Committee a few weeks ago and never once used the word terrorism. Nowhere in her statement was the word terrorism. When I questioned her about that she basically said she didn’t want to use the word terrorism. She was talking about al Qaeda or bin Laden. We cannot use the word terrorism. They made a point of saying this just generates fear, it generates hysteria and we shouldn’t use the word terrorist.” Continue reading “Congressman Peter King: Napolitano won’t call al Qaeda terrorists, but will call veterans terrorists”
The Obama administration is about to begin saving money in a big, big way.
Good news. President Obama’s soaring, staggering, stunning deficit will soon be a mere pittance.
All because the President has announced that the Department of Homeland Security will soon begin buying office supplies in bulk.
In an effort to hurry along the process, we stopped by our local CostCo yesterday and signed up the President. So in addition to office supplies, every government agency will soon buy everything in bulk. Aircraft carriers by the dozens, dark blue FBI suits by the rackful, teleprompters by the truckload.
We have one other genius idea:
Costco gives away free food samples every day at lunch. Today we had their vegetarian lasagna, beef jerky, crab on cracker, and apple juice. They were all delicious.
Instead of giving people food stamps, give them CostCo membership cards. Then instruct them to head for CostCo at lunchtime to gorge themselves on free samples.
The savings will dwarf whatever Janet Napolitano saves on office supplies.
Bull Durham. From back in the days when Robbins made non-political good movies.
“Showtime on Friday passed on Tim Robbins’ well-regarded pharmaceutical-drama pilot ‘Possible Side Effects.’”
That’s how Reuters announced the death of Robbins’ latest project.
The series was to be written and directed by Oscar winner Robbins. He had already signed top talent including Ellen Burstyn. Insiders say the pilot tested well and was considered a sure thing for Showtime’s schedule.
Of course, liberal conspiracy theorists immediately concluded that the project was killed because of its subject matter. “Possible Side Effects” takes a caustic look at the pharmaceutical drug industry.
“Like several other pilots rejected by Showtime, ‘Side Effects’ might be shopped elsewhere,” Reuters said.
Maybe Robbins should take it over to Current TV. Al Gore’s network is pretty desperate. They’ll run damn near anything.
Wikipedia says 2,998 people died in the terrorist attacks on 9/11. So we’d say Khalid Shaikh Mohammed still owes us at least another 2,815 waterboarding sessions.
